Leifa has been considered the originator of style thunder for a long time. Among the Xianglei family, the one with the best reputation, the greatest fame, and the most appreciation from the court should be the second generation Lei Jinyu.

He began to take charge of the style house due to the construction of the Old Summer Palace, and was the first person in the Lei family to hold this position. Kangxi once mentioned in"Changchun Garden" that he was very concerned about an outstanding craftsman, namely Lei Jinyu.

Until the end of the Qing Dynasty, six generations of the Lei family were in charge of the project in Shishifang. They were responsible for important projects such as the Forbidden City, Sanhai, Old Summer Palace, Summer Palace, Jingyi Garden, Chengde Summer Resort, and the Eastern and Western Tombs of the Qing Dynasty. Designers, this family is called"Style Lei" by colleagues. When making architectural design plans, the Lei family always makes prototypes at a scale of 1/100 or 1/200 and submits them to the inner court for approval.

The model is made of hot-pressed straw board, hence the name hot sample. Its platform base, tile roof, pillars, doors and windows, as well as beds, tables, chairs, screens and gauze cabinets, etc. are all made in proportion. The Lei family's stamping samples are unique and important information for understanding the architecture and design procedures of the Qing Dynasty. Some of the surviving samples are kept in the Forbidden City.

How did the Lei family become prosperous? There is also an interesting legend among the people. It is said that in the middle period of Kangxi period, the Hall of Supreme Harmony was to be rebuilt. When the project was almost completed, a beam-laying event was held, which is equivalent to the current foundation laying ceremony and ribbon-cutting. On the day of the"beam-raising" ceremony, Emperor Kangxi visited the Hall of Supreme Harmony in person. At the critical moment of the beam-raising ceremony, it may be that the officials who raised the beams had poor carpentry skills, and the mortise and tenon joints always failed to align when installing the spine purlins.

The officials from the Ministry of Industry who were in charge at that time were very anxious, because if it didn't succeed, someone might be beheaded.

Finally, Leifa volunteered to install the beams, but to do this job you must have at least a seventh-grade official position. He, a small craftsman, changed into the clothes of a seventh-grade official, climbed up and hit the ax a few times, and he installed it easily.

After Kangxi saw it, he admired it very much. He appointed him a seventh-rank official on the spot and became the head of the style house.

Since then, historians have begun to search for historical information in order to verify this story. According to historical records, the Hall of Supreme Harmony was indeed renovated and rebuilt during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The Hall of Supreme Harmony was rebuilt in the eighth year of Kangxi’s reign, before the Lei family came to Beijing; It has been two years since Fafa passed away.

Therefore, experts believe that the reconstruction of the temple will not be possible if the radar is developed. The protagonist of the incident is not Lei Fafa, but Lei Jinyu, the second generation of the Lei family.

When he was in Shangliang, Kangxi Jinyu was very young and had extraordinary skills. He summoned him for a talk. During the conversation, he found that he was quick-thinking and they happened to be about the same age. Kangxi admired him very much and immediately made him a seventh-rank official and a seventh-rank official. He was given a salary and put in charge of royal architectural design. To this day, this story is still faithfully recorded in Lei Jinyu’s inscription.

And the Lei family is very serious about their work, Zai.

The existing"Style Thunder" drawing files include sample drawings. The"Style Thunder" architectural drawings that can be seen in the National Library of China, the First Historical Archives of China, and the Palace Museum cover many types, such as projection drawings, upright drawings, etc. Facades, side elevations, rotation diagrams, contour diagrams, etc. Every detail of the project and the dimensions of each structure are all recorded.

In addition,"Style Lei" also drew"site work drawings", which are progress drawings of the construction site. From these drawings, we can clearly see the mausoleum's progress from site selection to foundation excavation to foundation construction, from the underground palace to the ground. , columns until the final roof is completed, which reflects the process of style Lei in the construction process.

The architectural design models known as"hot samples" are another major component of the"Style Thunder" drawings that have been handed down to this day."The 83 hot samples collected by the Forbidden City were mainly produced for submission to the emperor for review at that time. , so the image is lifelike, the data is accurate, and it has extremely high historical value. The existing hot stamping samples are mainly the design models made when the Old Summer Palace, Summer Palace, Xiyuan and other places were rebuilt during the Tongzhi and Guangxu years of the Qing Dynasty."

Zhou Suqin told reporters that as a Qing Dynasty In the hands of the style-lei family, the royal architectural design team, the flat design drawings are transformed into three-dimensional miniature landscapes through a combination of the simplest materials such as paper, straw, wood, etc. This is the"hot sample" made according to proportions and with incomparable precision."

"Although there have been drawings of ancient architectural design methods since the early Han Dynasty, and by the Sui Dynasty in the early seventh century AD, there were drawings and models using 1% scale, there has been a lack of historical data for a long time. So far," The"Style Thunder" drawing is probably the only archival record in the history of ancient architecture."Zhou Suqin believes that the existence of style Lei drawing documents proves that ancient Chinese architecture is by no means entirely based on the experience of craftsmen. It fully illustrates the superb architectural design level of ancient China and fills the gap in the research on the history of ancient Chinese architecture.
