Chapter 1.1: Leaping Off the Cliff

Heaven’s Sea Continent

In the Wounded Unicorn Forest situated right at the southern end of the Vermillion Bird Empire, two opposing groups of people stood against each other.

“Why?”

The young girl who spoke was roughly ten years old, her thin white clothes making her look incomparably frail and weak, her pair of violet eyes staring incredulously at the red clothed young girl on the opposite side.

The red clothed young girl curled her mouth up in a bloodthirsty smile as she snorted derisively: “Till now and you still don’t know why. I think you’re not only just a useless piece of trash, you’re also a brainless block of wood who can’t even use her brain.”

“I don’t understand. Weren’t we still fine yesterday?” The white dressed young girl’s flawlessly beautiful face was covered in injuries.

The red clothed young girl gave a contemptuous laugh, her face filled with scorn. “Duanmu Xi, you do not really believe that I accompanied you here just to look for the Water Spirit Fruit, do you?”

Duanmu Xi stared blankly at her older cousin Duanmu Qing who had always been trying to win her favour before, looking like she did not know this person before her at all.

“You seek to have me killed.”

The voice that had been mournful gradually turned calm, becoming highly indifferent.

“You’re right on that. The Wounded Unicorn Forest will be where you will die. All of you, capture her.”

Duanmu Qing gave a wave of her hand, and the black robed men charged forward.

The last shadow guard beside Duanmu Xi stood resolutely before the young girl.

Unfortunately, the disparity in power between the two sides was just too great and the black robed men quickly slaughtered the lone shadow guard, before capturing Duanmu Xi.

“Don’t touch me. A warrior would rather be killed than humiliated.”

Duanmu Xi threw off the black robed man’s hand, and a long dormant conqueror’s menacing air flared out from her in that instant.

None among the group of black robed men dared to take another step forward.

Looking at the highly arrogant expression on Duanmu Xi’s face, a glint of jealousy and murder flashed within Duanmu Qing’s eyes.

“Not to be humiliated? But I want you completely humiliated today though.”

Duanmu Qing suddenly lifted her hand, and drove it straight towards the back of Duanmu Xi’s neck.

“Argh…..”

A pitiful wail sounded up into the skies, sending a chill through people.

With a crash, Duanmu Xi fell heavily to the ground.

Duanmu Qing raised a foot and viciously stomped onto Duanmu Xi’s spine, pressing her down hard into the ground.

“How is it? How does it feel to have one’s meridians all severed?”

The ends of Duanmu Qing’s brows were slanted up, the corners of her lips tinged with a smug smile, gazing triumphantly at Duanmu Xi on the ground.

Duanmu Xi clenched her jaws hard, her fingers digging into the soil. She would not allow herself to make a single sound, not even a faint grunt.
