Chapter 20.2: Mysterious Family Rule

Huangfu Che said gently as he patted her soothingly on the back.

“You’re not allowed to go. I detest the way she looks at you. Hmph! Hong Feng, help me up. I will personally go see what she has up her sleeve.”

Duanmu Xue flipped her blanket away and got off the bed. Hong Feng immediately went forward to support her.

Huangfu Che creased up his brows. “Let me assist you. I will be worried letting you go out alone.”

Seeing the worried look on Huangfu Che’s face, Duanmu Xue had no choice but to give in.

“Alright, but you must not even look at her.”

Huangfu Che stiffened his lips helplessly.

“Don’t worry, I can’t even look at you enough already, why would I want to look at her at all?”

“Announcing the arrival of Duke of Tranquility and Left Minister Qin for an audience.”

Hong Feng walked over to the doors of the palace to announce formally.

After while, two women came walking in.

The woman walking in front was wearing a black brocade robe, her figure slightly plump, her black eyes gazing infatuatedly at Huangfu Che.

This woman was Duke of Tranquility, Duanmu Shuang.

Following behind Duanmu Shuang was a bright and beautiful lady, the Left Minister, Qin Zhen.

“My respects to Her Majesty the Emperor, my respects to the His Majesty the Phoenix Empress.”

The two of them immediately paid their respects to Duanmu Xue and Huangfu Che the moment they came in but Duanmu Xue did not ask them to rise to their feet.

The atmosphere in the Bonded Hearts Palace grew heavy and no one dared to make any move, where even their breathing was done very lightly.

After sipping at her cup of tea, Duanmu Xue then said very slowly: “My imperial sister, Minister Qin, you may rise.”

“Thank you Your Majesty.”

Duanmu Shuang and Qin Zhen then stood up upon hearing that and retreated to separate sides, to stand with their head bowed.

“My imperial elder sister. Why would you have the leisure to come all the way here to my Bonded Hearts Palace today, and have so coincidentally arrived at the same time as Minister Qin?”

Hearing Duanmu Xue’s icy cold voice, Duanmu Shuang immediately broke out in cold sweat.

Qin Zhen was also similarly covered in a layer of cold sweat.
