Chapter 114 - 114 - Dark Magic

"Holy sh*t." The young girl says as she looks around the room she had just come in. There were thousands of objects hidden inside and each of them were enclosed inside a glass box, much like the glass where the bodies of the descendants of the five clans were located. However, the only difference this time was that the glass contained objects, not bodies.

The black haired girl walks further inside to check out the rest of the room. She saw a couple of materials that looked somewhat normal to her eyes. At some point, she also sees objects that are moving on their own as if they have full awareness of the world.

Mi Young also noticed objects that seem to draw her closer, as if it was pulling her and telling her to let them out of their glass cage. The black haired girl shivers as a cold seeping sensation crept all over her body when she touches the glass cage that encloses a gold ring with a dark stone on its center.

"If I were you I would never touch it." A voice suddenly says behind Mi Young making her jump in full surprise.

She quickly turns around to send a glare at Hae Choon. "Stop doing that."

"Sorry. I just find it funny." The other party says while sending My Young an apologetic look.

The black haired girl rolls her eyes at him before asking, "How was it? How did you outrun them?"

Hae Choon winks at the young girl before answering with his arrogant voice, "Of course I would outrun them. I am Hae Choon, one of the best warriors of the first century. I am also gifted with teleportation ability—"

"Whatever. Just make it quicker next time." The black haired girl says while cutting off the other party. This made Hae Choon pout drastically.

"That's not fair." The boy whines as he crosses his arms at Mi Young.

The young girl, once  again, rolled her eyes at him. "Deal with it. Anyway, what is this room?"

Hae Choon roamed his eyes at the whole room before saying, "I think it's where they store all of their magic items."

Mi Young hums while also looking at the thousands of magic items displayed around them. "This place feels weird. I don't know why but I'm getting a weird feeling just by standing here. It feels like someone is watching me and it's giving me a different kind of fear. Do you know what I mean?"

"Uhn. That's normal, especially when you're facing magic items imbued with dark magic." Hae Choon says in a grave voice.

"Dark magic?" Mi Young asks, bewildered.

"Yes. In fact, that ring you were about to touch earlier was filled with dark magic." Hae Choon Says  while looking at the ring inside the glass box. "Dark magic is a very inhumane  magic. Those who possess and practice this kind of magic are just pure…evil."

"When did dark magic start? And who started it?"

"It all started during the Dark War. The sister who once led the Nyxo clans practiced it and spread it to her people. Those who were unable to contain the darkness that spread throughout their whole body were consumed with pure anger, wrath, and other evil characteristics."

"Why would she do it? I mean, was it for revenge?"

"It might sound unbelievable but she thought that it would be the best magic against her own sister. Unfortunately, it backfired."

"How?" The black haired girl asks.

"I don't know what exactly happened but they said that the spell she used sacrificed half of her life." Hae Choon says while slightly shaking his head.

"That's sad."

"Yes. But she deserved it."

The young girl didn't argue with what the other party said. She just nodded her head in silence. "Anyway, do you think we can use these magic items?"

"I don't know. I think most of them were already used and drained." Hae Choon replies while scanning the magic items displayed all around them.

Mi Young was confused. "What do you mean drained?"

"Can't you tell? Look at most of these magic items, they are all drained with mana. It means someone already took the mana they once possessed." Hae Choon says while pointing at the magic items displayed near them. "Probably those scientists."

"But why would they collect them only to not use them?"

"If they are really collecting them, I think their reason wasn't because they want to use these magic items. Magic items, especially the old ones, contains ancient mana." Hae Choon starts to explain while he opens one of the glass boxes and holds a necklace in his hands. "These ancient mana are pure mana. Pure mana is more powerful than the mana that we use today. The mana before us were pure, especially the magic items that were made in the ancient times."

The other party looks at the necklace once more before he returns it back to its place. "That's probably why they are out there collecting these magic items just so they can drain its pure mana and use it for their own benefits."

"They're really…I don't know, they're so annoying and selfish and just pure evil!" Mi Young comments while trying to contain the anger that was boiling inside of her. She clenches her fist as images of the room filled with bodies flashes in her mind once more. "I swear, I'll really destroy this place."

"Hold that anger for now since we have to rescue your friends first." Hae Choon says while he pats the younger girl's shoulders. "And stop making your anger consume you. Look, the magic items here that are filled with dark magic is reacting to your feelings."

When Mi Young looks up to check her surroundings, she sees a number of glass boxes that have started shaking.

"What the hell is happening to them?" Mi Young asks. When she looks at her side, she sees the black ring start emitting black smoke. However, because of the glass box that was enclosed around it, the smoke couldn't come out. It hissed, sounding angry and mad. "Why is it reacting like that?"

"If you were to ask me, I think this ring here is not just your normal magic item that is filled with dark magic. I think someone put a curse on it as well." Hae Choon says while he crouches down so he can watch the ring more closely. He taps the glass box and the ring starts hissing again. "I'm really angry. I wonder what type of curse they put inside."

"Curse? You mean those dark promises you say when you want to curse out someone?"

"No. Not that curse." Hae Choon says while he stands up. He puts both of his hands inside his jean's pockets before he returns his gaze back at Mi Young. "Curses are like evil spirits that feed on our positive energy. And if they drank all of our positive energy, the next thing they'll feed with is our mana. However, what's more nasty about Curses is the fact that even though they have already drained us, they won't leave our body and they will start to possess us. And since we're too weak to fight them off, they will control us and will start telling su to perform evil acts."

For some reason, the black haired girl suddenly felt a chill run through her spine as she listened to Hae Choon's every word. She eyes the black ring once more and she feels it again. The black haired girl didn't even notice her own hand as it started touching the glass once more.

"Stop it." Mi Young only snaps back to her thoughts when she hears Hae Choon's voice. She also felt the man grabbing her hands away from the glass as he tried to move her away from the thing. "Don't listen to it."

"Why? Why am I so easily affected?" Mi Young asks. She felt confused and somewhat sulking because the dark magic only gets to her and not Hae Choon, not that she likes her friend to be affected too.

"It's because of two things. One, you're not in your right state of mind right now. You are angry and mad because all of this is happening right now. Remember, dark magic and Curses feeds on positive energy. And they are more reactive when a person is experiencing a negative feeling." Hae Choon explains while he points at Mi Young's chest, right where her heart is. "And two, half of your soul is gone. Which means you are a lot weaker than your normal self. They can sense it and they know that you are a lot easier to possess than me."

For some reason, Mi Young felt a lot better as Hae Choon explained things to her. She thought she was going insane and the events that kept on happening to her recently were making her weak. Good thing, the other party was there to support her or else she would have succumbed to the dark magic that was calling out to her.

"That's why you should stop worrying. And we need to go, you destroyed their lock, they're probably on their way here to check what caused it.." Hae Choon says before he grabs Mi Young and leads her outside the empty corridor.
