Mi Young holds the helm of Hae Choon's cloak as she waits for the both of them to teleport.
"Are you ready?" She hears Hae Choon whisper beside her. The black haired girl nods her head and braces herself. She sends a look at Kwang Soo who was standing at the side and gave him a nod before her vision blurred.
In a blink of an eye, the black haired girl was already standing not too far from the doorway she and Kwang Soo opened earlier where they were greeted by the Vice Captain of the guards.
Teleporting using a magic item is totally different from using teleportation, Mi Young noticed. When she teleported with the others like the fang Kah Ih Doo gave her or the magic item of Lady Ning Gwang which helped them teleport outside the school, it felt like being sucked inside a void that makes your head get dizzier as time goes by. However, when she teleported using Hae Choon's ability, it felt like nothing. One moment, she was standing outside the headquarters, the next time she opened her eyes she's already standing just outside the headquarters' entrance.
"We need to be careful here 'cause there are a lot of spy cameras everywhere." Mi Young whispers while observing their surroundings.
It's a good thing that Hae Choon teleported them somewhere where the shadows of the trees and buildings are blocking them, so the spy cameras can't actually catch them.
"I know. I've been observing this place for quite a while already." Hae Choon says while also looking at their surroundings. The man starts pointing at the location where the cameras are placed. "There. Another one there. And the other one is located there!"
"Great. Now we're stuck here until morning when all the soldiers can see us." The black haired girl sarcastically says as she crosses her arms. "How the hell are we supposed to get pass these cameras?"
Mi Young really wished she brought her fang necklace with her. She forgot to put it on when she changed her clothes earlier that day. Now that Hae Choon needs to take a rest before they can teleport again, the black haired girl couldn't do anything but to pray that no soldiers would walk past where they were blending with the shadows.
"The cameras are all placed in a spot where they can see almost every angle." Hae Choon starts to explain.
"Don't you think I know that?" Mi Young questions while rolling her eyes.
"However, I noticed that when the High Lords are present, they take a different route when coming inside here. I don't know why but it seems like these High Lords aren't keen on making their presence known every time they visit the headquarters." Hae Choon says. This caught Mi Young's attention big time.
"Why do the High Lords visit this place? I mean what's their business here?"
"To get mana." Hae Choon says in a dark voice. "Based on what I have observed, the High Lords visit this place twice a month. I also noticed that every time they decided to come here, it's like they were out of mana, I can see it in their aura. However, when they come out of the headquarters, their energy and their mana power has been replenished."
"So they're using the Mana Shell for the sake of themselves? Even using it as a source of mana?" Mi Young questions.
Hae Choon nodded his head. "That door, the one you were talking about earlier, is the one which soldiers used. However, there is a secret door that only the High Lords use when they come here to replenish their mana. It's also the only entrance where there are no cameras at all."
"Why do you think they would use an entrance that has no cameras looking at it?" The black haired student asks.
The other party shrugged but answered her question nonetheless. "I think they are using it for safety purposes."
"Safety purposes? How? I mean, isn't it safer if someone out there is looking out for you?"
"Indeed. But no one knows about the real reason why the High Lords come here often. So to avoid future issues, the High Lords think that without themselves being seen on cameras, then there is no actual evidence against them."
"Why would they think that?"
"When the time comes that people will know about the Mana shell, then there will be no proof against them that they are using it for their own good." Hae Choon says, voice still dark and angry.
Mi Young didn't talk for a while after that. They stayed there for a few minutes trying to find the right timing so they could run towards the 'other' entrance Hae Choon was talking about.
"If we wait for a few seconds, an alarm would sound all over the headquarters, signaling every Soldier that it's midnight and the soldiers on duty will have to shift their tasks." Hae Choon says. He gives Mi Young a quick glance and sees that the other party was somehow confused, so he sighs and continued his explanation. "Every midnight, the soldiers changes their shift so the other soldiers can take the older ones tasks and let them rest for a while. During this time, there will be at least two minutes that no soldier would be roaming around – which also means that the guards who are tasked to watch the surveillance will have to change shifts and then no one would be watching the cameras for about two minutes."
"How are you sure about that?"
"I'm positive. A friend of mine used to work here. He explained to me the shifting and duties of all the soldiers here."
Mi Young has her brows furrowed when she asks, "Why is this friend casually talking about their job here? I mean, this headquarters is supposed to be a secret right?"
Hae Choon chuckled before answering Mi Young, "Well, let's just say my friend is really talkative when drunk."
"Oh."
"Anyway, where is that friend of yours? What is he going to do?" Hae Choon asks while giving Mi Young a concerned look.
The black haired girl shrugs and sighs. "I don't know either. But he sounded confident so maybe he knows what he is doing. Besides, he's a genius and is one of the students in our academy that everyone fears. I'm sure he can handle himself very well."
"You put so much trust in him. Have you been friends for long?"
This shocked the black haired girl. "What? How can you say that? Senior and I are rivals actually. We were supposed to give out school battle earlier today but Lady Ning Gwang abducted us and now we're here."
"I see. Ning Gwang has always been like that, even before. She likes to take us everywhere she wants and we can't do anything since she's super persistent." Hae Choon says while he has this dazed look on his face. "It's nice to know that she still has the same habit until now."
"It's quite annoying actually." The black haired girl says while rolling her eyes.
Hae Choon chuckled again, the sound so manly and captivating. "You'll get used to it."
"So when is the alarm going to ring?"
"Any minute now. If it sounds, wait for the third ring." Hae Choon says.
"After that we run?" Mi Young questions.
The other party nodded his head. "Uhn. Just follow me and do not stop until I say so. It's quite far from here but we'll get there in no time."
"Okay. I trust you." The black haired girl says.
As the two of them waited for the alarm to sound, Mi Young couldn't help but ask the other party. "Why did you guys decide to part ways?"
"Do you mean me and the five others?" Hae Choon asks. The black haired girl nodded her head. "Well, it's very dangerous of us to stay together."
"Why?"
"People will start to notice that none of us are aging. Aside from that, we have very strong mana auras and that will attract lots of monsters don't you think?" Hae Choon says.
"Attract monsters? What do you mean?"
Hae Choon looked at Mi Young like he was confused why the black haired girl was asking that question. "Didn't your school tell you that if people with very strong mana auras stay in the same place for a while, it will start attracting the Dark Forces?"
"I heard about that but I never knew that it was real." The black haired girl says in a small voice.
"Well, surprise. It's real. It happened to us once. And I'm telling you, it was horrible. Monsters kept on appearing out of nowhere and attacking us, trying to leach out from our mana auras." Hae Choon says while trying to recall a memory. "It was so tiring that even though we don't want to be separated from each other, we decided to walk our own ways to keep each other safe. However, we also promised that once in awhile we have to check on each other to know how everyone is doing."
"But…?" Mi Young asks. She knows there's more to it.
"But everyone forgot. And now, we're like strangers.." Hae Choon answers with a sad voice.
"Are you ready?" She hears Hae Choon whisper beside her. The black haired girl nods her head and braces herself. She sends a look at Kwang Soo who was standing at the side and gave him a nod before her vision blurred.
