Chapter 5 : Unexpected Turn Of Events

“Kryuu!”

In the meantime, the newborn baby dragon jumped up beside me in glee.

And while playing I patted his cute little head.

Suddenly, a realization crossed my mind.

While petting the little one’s  head and turned toward’s the Court Mage.

“Hey, can I ask you something?

“What is it , Mateo Sama?”

“He’s growing considerably  faster because of my magic, right?”

“That’s what I think too.”

“Then wouldn’t he grow faster I  gave him more of my magic?”

“No, it’s not that simple.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Like most living things, dragons inherit their parents’ flesh and blood only up to the very moment of their birth.”

“Hmm. That’s indeed a good analogy.”

I thought so honestly.

I could not help but be convinced when he explained that we inherit the blood and flesh of our parents.

“You’ve got to be pretty smart to figure that out instantly, Mateo”

“Huh?”

“If difference in intelligence, or wisdom, is too wide between the people conversing, Often even if the wiser one lowers his standards and approaches to explain things in a lack luster manner it’s still pretty difficult to understand what the wiser one is saying.”

“Um… ……”

“It simply means that you cannot convince an idiot.”

The old man summed up the situation in an absurd way.

No, I suppose that it’s indeed the truth.

“But anyway , I wish there was a way for me to witness this child grow faster.”

“Kryuu?

“I wish I could have helped him grow up.”

As I said this, while patting the little one’s head, I recalled what had just happened.

I remembered the feeling of the eggshell when I touched it, and the light it had given off.

Then my hand started to glow again.

“What is it this time!?”

“No harm in this, it’s just the magic power released by Master Matteo. The Red Dragon has already emerged from its egg, so the magic will only disperse.”

“I see…”

The man’s explanation almost convinced the old man, but at the very next moment.

The little guy’s body puffed up quickly.

The small, adorable, puppy-like form he had until then transformed dramatically.

It changed into the form of a dragon, which was bigger than the mansion and looked very fierce.

“GYAROOOOO!!!!”

A roar so fierce,

The ground shook, and the hem of my pants trembled.

“Wha….!!?”

“!”

The old man was startled, and the mage slumped down on his buttocks in disbelief.

As the two were startled, the Red Dragon slowly bent down.

“Mateo!”

Grandpa screamed – but it was not what Grandpa feared.

The Red Dragon bent down and gently – very gently considering its huge size – rubbed its cheek against mine.

“Oh, there, there.”

I embraced it and stroked it’s head, and it seemed very happy.

“He looks so delighted. That’s great, Mateo!”

His excitement increased further when he saw how much the Red Dragon was loving me.

“This is insane. …… This is impossible. I’ve never even HEARD of such a outcome”

The mage became more and more appalled.

“Oh!?”

He was only able to maintain his giant red dragon form for about 30 seconds.

After returning to his true form the cute chibi dragon jumped back to my embrace.

This is the third time we’ve been like this so i’m already somewhat used to it.

I’m sure it’s just a temporary enhancement, not flesh and blood, since it was born after all.

“What did all this mean?”

“I’m not sure what to say anymore…”

“I’m very sorry . But honestly  I cannot say for sure.”

” Good, good, good.”

In contrast to the man who apologized profusely, the old man became extremely cheerful.

“Grandfather?”

“That’s how unheard it is, isn’t it?”

“Yes, that i’m sure of it.”

“Then it can’t be helped. Mateo is too great, he was even greater than I ever could imagine. That’s all there is to it.”

The old man grinned broadly  with the same amused smile.

At this juncture, Grandpa completely reverted back to his normal doting self

The grandfather doting on his grandson, the Duke of Lawrence affirming everything about me.
