Chapter 97 - AnAn, I Am Ready (2)

Nie AnAn heard Huo YanXiao asked her all of a sudden, “AnAn, you said you are 18. Are you turning 18 or are you already 18?”

Nie AnAn had no idea why he’d ask that all of a sudden, but she answered his question anyway. “18 already. My birthday was a month ago.”

Huo YanXiao seemed to have let out a sigh of relief along with a chuckle.

In the dark, his magnetic voice crawled inside her ears and followed it all the way inside of her. She felt like her heart was softly poked by a feather. 

“I’ve always had my concern that you were too young,” said Huo YanXiao. “Afterall, I can’t possibly be intimate with someone who is underage.”

Having heard that, Nie AnAn felt that she had been struck by lightning all of a sudden. 

Like sodium in water, her heart was fizzling. 

The next thing she heard was Huo YanXiao whispering into her ears, “And now, I have nothing else to be concerned about.”

Having said that, he gave her a hug. Seeing that her entire body had petrified, he rubbed her on her head and said to her, “AnAn, I will give you a month to prepare.”

Nie AnAn’s throat was dry. Her lips moved, but she didn’t make a sound. 

The very next second, Huo YanXiao turned on the light on the night table. 

They could see the distance between them under the soft light of the table lamp. 

Nie AnAn felt that she was a like bad little kid who thought she was so mighty that she had nothing to worry about when she poked a beehive. Now that she had poked the beehive and when just one or two bees had appeared, she already wanted to run away. 

Sure enough, he said he would give her a month to prepare. 

So she was the one who needed to be prepared mentally, not him. 

Huo YanXiao picked her up and put her back onto the other bed. 

Nie AnAn’s cheeks were red, and her eyes were all over the place except meeting his. 

He, on the other hand, with one hand supporting himself next to her, started leaning in. 

Getting closer and closer to her… Nie AnAn’s heart was about to jump out of her chest. 

And then, a warm kiss was planted on her forehead. She heard the man’s voice say to her, “Goodnight, AnAn.”

“Goodnight,” said Nie AnAn before she hid under the blanket. 

Huo YanXiao smiled again when he saw her reaction. He went back to his own bed and turned the light off. 

The next morning, Huo YanXiao was already gone by the time Nie AnAn had woken up. 

She didn’t know where he went but found a note by the bed. 

His handwriting was every bit unruly as he was. “AnAn, I have to head to City Lin for my meeting. I will see you back at Capital City. Take care of yourself.”

Nie AnAn read the note over multiple times before she carefully folded it up and put it inside of her pocket. 

The filming of the show continued, and nothing special happened the day that followed. 

Except that the news of Nie AnAn and Huo YanXiao’s engagement had been made known to the entire production team. Everybody teased and congratulated her when they saw her. 

After the filming, Nie AnAn returned on the same flight as everybody else. 

Just like last time, Ji YunChuan had a seat next to her. He had, obviously, heard about Nie AnAn’s wedding by now. He felt a bit down at the beginning but recovered quickly and started giving her suggestions on honeymoon locations on their return trip.

Huo YanXiao wasn’t home yet when Nie AnAn returned home in Capital City. 

Father Nie had already sent Nie ChengFeng to go and pick her up. Customarily, it’s best the two of them not see each other until the engagement.
