This Hogwarts isn't normal.
#969 - Here comes the action against Harry
As expected, the *Daily Prophet* lavishly reported on yesterday's wand examination ceremony on the morning of the next day.
Any news has a shelf life, but since the *Daily Prophet* officially became the official newspaper of the British Ministry of Magic, some major news is always reported a bit late.
If Gubber and Rita were still at the newspaper, the paper would have been updating the news in real time as soon as they finished interviewing the champions.
As for the most important content, just take a look for fun and don't take it seriously.
"What?!" Ron suddenly yelled while eating breakfast and reading the newspaper, startling many of the surrounding students.
Harry, who was closest to him, was the most affected. If the spoon he was using to drink his oatmeal hadn't been so big and got stuck in his throat, he might have swallowed it directly.
"Sorry, Harry." After apologizing, Ron eagerly spread out the newspaper, pointing to the second section in the middle.
"Look, this damn newspaper is praising Malfoy to the heavens."
Harry first turned to look at the puddle of mud curled up in a chair at the Slytherin table, and then looked at the article Ron was pointing to.
"The Noble and Elegant Gentleman: Draco Malfoy"
Beneath the title was a dynamic photo of Draco giving Krum a friendly smile, probably extracted from a video recording device.
The content of the article was extremely exaggerated, praising Draco throughout as being polite and courteous, able to show the greatest kindness even to his competitors, and how excellent he was himself.
Harry's face became increasingly strained as he read.
No wonder Ron had such a big reaction. This official newspaper of the Ministry of Magic was simply lying through its teeth, even more unscrupulous than Rita.
He angrily picked up the milk in front of him and "glug glug glug" gulped it down.
Ron glared fiercely at the puddle of mud at the Slytherin table. "Old Malfoy must have bribed the Ministry of Magic. I should have filmed last night's training so everyone could hear his screams."
Speaking of last night's training, Harry glanced at Vincent, who was reading the newspaper with a calm expression, with lingering fear.
The way he beat—trained Draco to resist beatings could only be described as brutal. Harry had no idea that the human body was so durable, able to let out pig-like screams even after thousands of blows.
Judging from the state of that puddle of mud at the Slytherin table, which was Draco, there was no hope of a full recovery in the next day or two.
Harry smiled and looked back at the newspaper. There was a small section in the lower right corner about him.
"Harry Potter—Does He Really Have the Ability to Be a Champion?"
The smile instantly disappeared from Harry's face.
"What's wrong?" Ron followed his gaze and clenched his fists in anger.
A large part of the article was about yesterday's interview. Harry was particularly nervous because Snape was standing in the doorway of the classroom, and Bagman and Barty Crouch Sr. had to repeat their questions several times before he could hear them.
Such a terrible performance would definitely be compared with the other champions, but the wording used by the *Daily Prophet*, as an official paper media, was particularly sharp in this article, with hardly any positive words.
Ron crumpled the newspaper into a ball. "Harry, I'm sure Old Malfoy is behind this!"
Hogwarts has two champions, and students from different schools would be compared, let alone those from the same school.
With the unscrupulous and limitless praise in front, people would naturally be more likely to have a good impression of Draco due to the inertia of preconceived notions.
And although Harry didn't perform well, he had the halo of the Savior.
But if a few more similar news stories came out, there would definitely be voices questioning him.
Vincent put down the newspaper and looked at the angry Ron and the bewildered Harry.
Lucius is a shrewd speculator. He would spend money to buy a good reputation for his son, but he wouldn't dare to deliberately smear Harry, who was born with a halo.
Once things were exposed, the Malfoy family would face enormous pressure.
And what benefits would he get from it?
The benefits and risks are not equal. This report is probably not his doing.
Then, there are only two possibilities left.
One, the Ministry of Magic is acting up again, without carefully reviewing the content of the article.
Two, someone is deliberately smearing Harry, trying to achieve some ulterior motive.
"Di Di Di—" Vincent's magical communicator suddenly rang.
He narrowed his eyes, looking at the name of the contact person on it with interest.
He got up and walked out of the auditorium, into an empty and deserted utility room.
Connecting the video communication, what appeared before him was Sirius's extremely angry face.
"Vincent, how is Harry now?"
"Aggrieved, at a loss."
Sirius was silent for a moment. "Isn't it just about who has more money? His Malfoy family can spend money to bribe the newspaper, and so can I!"
Vincent looked meaningfully out the window.
The sky was very blue, the clouds were very white, but dark clouds were coming soon.
"Sirius, could it be that someone is deliberately trying to provoke you?"
Sirius in the projection light curtain immediately fell silent.
As a smart person, he could of course understand that the article smearing Harry was probably not Lucius's doing.
He took a deep breath to calm himself down. "Is it the person who tampered with the Goblet of Fire?"
Vincent withdrew his gaze from the blue sky and white clouds outside the window. "I don't know, but if anything happens to Harry recently, I think it is very likely to be that person."
"I understand." Sirius hurriedly cut off the communication.
Vincent could guess what he would do.
Someone wanted to harm his godson, and he was afraid that he could pluck that person's cloak bare.
At the same time, the Ministry of Magic.
Sirius pressed the elevator button aggressively and arrived at the new department on the 7th floor underground, the Magical News Department.
Since this department was established less than a month ago, the position of Director is temporarily vacant, and the operation of the entire department is temporarily handled by three young people from the original *Daily Prophet* newspaper.
When Sirius came in, one young man was frantically picking up the manuscripts scattered on the ground, one was typesetting tomorrow's news, and the last one was sitting at his desk editing the interview video recorded yesterday.
"Cough cough—" He cleared his throat.
The young man at the desk quickly stood up. "You're here, Mr. Black."
Sirius remembered this young man. When he was exonerated and used by the Ministry of Magic to divert public attention, this young man was responsible for writing his manuscripts.
"Good morning, Gerry, am I interrupting your work?"
The young man named Gerry shook his head vigorously. "How could it be, Mr. Black, this way please."
Sirius was led by him to a sofa with stacks of file bags.
Gerry waved his wand and put away the file bags. "Sorry, we have too much work recently, please forgive us."
The newly established Magical News Department cannot be said to be a makeshift team, it can only be said to be a small team with a lot of room for improvement.
