“Here,” said Qin Luo as he handed the pouch over to Chen Yun.

Chen Yun didn’t take it from him but just looked at him coldly, “Why are you giving that to me?”

Qin Lin gave his best to squeeze out what he thought was a tender smile and said, “For you to save up, of course. I’ll become a mercenary with you so we can save up to purchase your blessing right!”

Chen Yun humphed coldly, “Why are you helping me? What do you want from me?”

“What? You could tell that?” Qin Luo pretended that he was shocked, “Man, you are good!”

Chen Yun busted out laughing by his overacted reaction, but immediately returned to her straight face and said, “I thought you were fond of that gorgeous woman Silver Wind. How could someone as plain as me be good enough for you?”

Qin Luo immediately explained himself, “That’s a misunderstanding! What made you think I was fond of her? Well… I guess she was prettier than you…”

“WHAT?!”

“…but only a tad bit. I was mostly just scared that night!”

Chen Yun had a look of disbelief, “You have the guts to slaughter a gu diao, why would you be afraid of such a helpless woman?”

“That all just her pretense! She was actually much scarier than you!”

“Are you saying that I am scary?” Chen Yun looked at him displeased.

Qin Luo said quickly, “Of course not! I misspoke. But that wasn’t the point. The point was that Silver Wind is a phoenix!”

“ A phoenix?” Chen Yun was startled, “You mean the one that we saw on our way?”

Qin Luo nodded, “Most likely. She said her name was Silver Wind, that’s the same as ‘Silver Phoenix’!”1

“More like lewd wind….” Thought Qin Luo to himself.

“By the way!” Qin Luo continued, “Did you see her when you woke up yesterday?”
                                                    
Chen Yun thought about it for a second and said, “Hmm, no. I only saw you sleeping soundly under the blanket.”

Qin Luo rubbed his chin and muttered to himself, “Theoretically, a phoenix has much stronger constituent than a human, so she wouldn’t have gotten drunk so easily. And if she wasn’t under the influence, then why did she take advantage of me? Was it my good look or my amazing cooking skill?”

“What are you talking about?” asked Chen Yun, “What do you mean by ‘under the influence’? What advantage was being taken?”

“Oh, nothing!” Qin Luo fake coughed quickly to cover up his embarrassment. “It’s getting late, let’s head to the mercenary guild?”

They walked down four or five blocks and arrived at a plaza.

In the middle of the plaza was a giant status of a human swordsman, Chen Yun told him that was the very first lord of the city.

Surrounding the plaza were tall buildings that looked quite different than regular residential houses. Qin Luo took a quick glance and noticed that at the front of most of the buildings, there was a sign labeling them as guildhalls for all of the professions.

Chen Yun explained to Qin Luo, “You will need to have your professional badge when you register with the mercenary guild, so you will need to head to the professional guild first for your skill assessment. What profession do you want to register under?”

Qin Luo was dumbfounded, he stuttered and asked, “Ugh… is there such thing as a chef guild?”

“No.”

“Well, I use a cleaver, do you think I can join the swordsman guild?”

“What do you think?”

Qin Luo put on a long face, “Well, what am I going to do then?”

Chen Yun was troubled too. This guy was from another world, he had never cultivated for Gan Yuan qi. Otherwise, she could at least give him a sword to muddle through it.

“Oh, I got it!” Qin Luo suddenly got a great idea, “I can become a nurse!”
