Can the sanitary conditions of modern American cities withstand a biological or chemical attack?
In the United States immediately after World War II, no one knew the answer to this question.
Don’t know the answer? Experiment!
This kind of experiment cannot be done in a laboratory because the laboratory cannot simulate modern cities, and there are also significant differences between mice and humans.
Therefore, in order to study the spreadability of biological weapons and the United States' defense capabilities, after World War II, the United States conducted many "simulated biological weapons attack" experiments in major American cities including New York and San Francisco. The subjects of the experiments were the millions of ordinary American people living in these cities who knew nothing about this biological bacteria experiment!
Of course, no matter how unscrupulous the Cold War US military was, it wasn't crazy enough to launch a gratuitous biological attack on New York and San Francisco, killing millions of Americans. The so-called "simulated biological weapon attack" experiment the military was conducting was actually a "bacteria attack" using a harmless bacteria as a "biological weapon" against a real American city. After the attack, researchers would observe the spread of this "biological weapon" to understand the possible consequences of a real biological weapon attack.
In the military's plan, the bacteria couldn't be truly lethal, couldn't actually harm humans, otherwise the experiment would become a crime against humanity. The experiment had to be conducted in secret, because a true biohazard wouldn't be something the target of the attack could foresee or prevent.
In 1950, the U.S. military selected two supposedly harmless bacteria as "biological weapons" to simulate a biological attack.
In September of that year, a U.S. Navy minesweeper entered San Francisco Harbor, laden with millions of gallons of bacterial solution. The ship then sprayed the bacteria-laden liquid through specialized nozzles into the air. The resulting two-kilometer-long mist, carrying the bacteria, was carried by the sea breeze across the city.
Over the next week, the U.S. military continued to repeat this spraying, and the experimental team took the opportunity to collect a large amount of valuable data in downtown San Francisco, filling the gap in this field... Afterwards, the U.S. military conducted similar experiments many times in cities such as New York and Chicago.
Ultimately, military scientists successfully concluded that large modern cities were extremely vulnerable to the threat of biological warfare.
If deadly bacteria were really released on this scale, the people in these cities would be almost doomed.
However, although the experiment was a "complete success", a huge trouble arose after it was over - the experimental bacteria that was said to be "completely harmless" to humans actually infected a large number of people and caused a mysterious plague in San Francisco that lasted for six months!
There is no way. In the middle of the 20th century, human beings’ understanding of bacteria was still very superficial, and medical knowledge was full of fallacies. Many bacteria and viruses that were initially believed by scientists to be harmless to the human body were actually invisible killers with a considerable probability of being fatal!
However, due to bureaucratic inertia and the lack of humanity in the intelligence community, despite the initial "simulated biological weapons attack" experiment in San Francisco going terribly wrong and causing a plague, the military continued to conduct 239 open-air biological attack experiments in cities across the United States over the next 80 years. Eighty of these experiments used live bacteria, which researchers at the time believed to be harmless, and the remaining experiments used inert chemicals, which were considered harmless at the time, to simulate bacteria.
It turned out that the military's so-called "inert chemical" was actually zinc-cadmium sulfide, a substance later identified as a carcinogen, and the "harmless live bacteria" were the highly contagious and mutagenic Bacillus sphaeroides.
But in the 1950s and 1960s, the Pentagon was convinced that both were safe, just as the ancient Romans believed that lead water pipes were not harmful to health.
This went on until 1969, when the White House, feeling that the Pentagon was going too far, signed an order banning this "simulated biological and chemical weapons attack" experiment and handing over the remaining experimental equipment to the CIA for sealing or for special attack operations when necessary.
But President Nixon could never have anticipated that certain CIA executives would take advantage of a vague White House order and, unsealing it, unearthed the military's simulated biological weapons attack equipment. They brazenly launched a biological weapons attack on New York City—and instead of using "harmless bacteria" for simulations, they used the real thing! They released a highly pathogenic pneumonia virus into New York City!
This is a legacy inherited from the Japanese Unit 731 and the German concentration camp murder doctors, and further developed
The latest biological warfare agent developed by the Fort Detrick biological and chemical laboratory after years of inhumane human experiments has an outstanding pathogenic effect on humans!
It is truly Nurgle's ecstasy!
By the time President Nixon finally understood what the CIA had done, a pandemic had already spread globally, originating in New York. The streets of Washington, D.C., were filled with coughs and sneezes, and even White House interns were wearing masks. An elderly, frail senator had died suddenly of a sudden illness. While the "Tantric Master's" H-therapy was supposed to cure all ailments, you were already too old to get an erection.
Thick smoke from the burning bodies also rose from the black neighborhoods in eastern Washington, filling the capital with a foul burnt stench.
Faced with this CIA show of force and demonstration, President Nixon's choice was, of course...
Forgive them!
What else could they do? Should they turn the tables on this mess just as the "special military operation" against France was about to begin?
It is better to temporarily suspend the layoff plan and let the CIA make amends for its crimes and wait and see what happens!
At this moment in the Oval Office, apart from the White House Chief of Staff standing silently in the corner, there was only Dr. Henry Kissinger, who had recently become a close confidant of the President. He sat on the other side of the desk, looking at the secret report on the desk and the President behind the desk with the help of the mottled light and shadow cast by the brass desk lamp.
"Mr. President, are you sure this is the final decision?"
Dr. Henry Kissinger's voice was calm and low, as if he had asked this question countless times and had guessed the answer in advance.
But out of some moral and conscientious feelings, as well as a slight reluctance deep in his heart, he couldn't help but ask one more question.
"The virus released by the CIA this time is likely to kill at least one million people worldwide! And the reason is simply to protest layoffs!"
President Nixon leaned back in the leather armchair, his cloudy eyes gazing at the words on the secret report through his glasses. His fingers gently stroked the edge of the paper, as if he was feeling the weight of a million lives, as if bidding a final farewell to these words.
"Yes, Henry. I have decided to conceal the CIA's crimes and archive this report. It will not be declassified for 50 years."
President Nixon spoke slowly, his voice hoarse but firm. He was trying to convince Kissinger more than himself,
The world only needs to know that this is a sudden plague; there is no need to expose the CIA's tricks—although their tricks are not small at all.
This is not just for myself, but for this country.
I know that the CIA bastards have committed heinous crimes against the entire United States and the entire world this time, and they are all unforgivable.
But before that, I have to push forward the Africa strategy plan that has already been implemented 70%, and I can't give up halfway!
You know how much the US dollar has depreciated over the past year! If we don't want our currency to become worthless, we must create more markets for the dollar and prepare more anchors, and we have to do it quickly!
I want the world to continue using the US dollar and buying American products! I can't let the US hegemony disappear after me!
Now that the Marines have boarded the ship and the aircraft carrier battle group has left the port, the country must remain calm. This is not the time to create unnecessary trouble.
So, Henry, please go talk to those CIA hyenas and tell them that this demonstration has been received! As long as they are willing to continue serving the country and go to Africa to bite the French, I will let them go! I will even allow the CIA to expand its influence in Africa and do whatever it wants!
I will forgive their offense this time as long as they stop keeping their eyes on Washington!
Compared to making America great again, the value of one million lives is insignificant... This may be what is called a necessary evil.
Of course, if the CIA hyenas still want to push their luck and make even more unreasonable demands..."
He pondered for a moment, then looked up at Kissinger and said, "Come back and report to me!"
Dr. Kissinger nodded silently, said nothing more, and simply stood up and walked out of the Oval Office.
It was not until the door of the Oval Office closed behind him that Kissinger could not help but shake his head and sigh with emotion.
As a calm and sophisticated political creature, Kissinger has long been accustomed to countless exchanges of interests and intrigues in this city.
No matter how heinous the crime, no matter how evil and shameless the act, it can become as holy as an angel after being cleansed by money and power.
After all, only children talk about right and wrong, while politicians only talk about interests.
However, the CIA's practice of "releasing biological weapons as a demonstration at the slightest disagreement" deeply touched his bottom line.
In this raging plague, several of his acquaintances had lost their lives, including former colleagues and seniors at the university, as well as distant relatives of Dr. Kissinger - even respectable professors did not all have the money to enjoy extraordinary treatment.
Even his wife Nancy Kissinger contracted the flu not long ago, but fortunately her illness was not serious and she recovered quickly.
Otherwise, Dr. Kissinger would feel very, very conflicted.
——It’s not that he doesn’t have the money or connections to hire a “Tantric Master” to use the H therapy that can cure all diseases to save his wife.
However, as a more traditional man, this is equivalent to asking Dr. Kissinger to pay a lot of money to find a wild man to sleep with his wife.
Dr. Kissinger would be filled with resentment at such cuckolding behavior, even if it was for saving his life!
Well, of course, people are all double-standard. If Kissinger had slept with a female "Tantric Master" to cure his illness, that would have been a natural "helpless act" and a "mistake all men make." Afterwards, he would have bought his wife a few more gifts as compensation, and he would have thought he could move on...
Oh, what a ridiculous era this is!
Countries drop nuclear bombs on each other at the slightest disagreement, intelligence organizations threaten countries with major plagues at will, and supernatural powers require people to remain naked like animals. Morality, decency, etiquette, and social consensus are all being washed away by the tide of the times, becoming increasingly insane and indescribable.
This even made Kissinger miss the war-torn era of World War II.
Although the war that raged across half the globe was indeed bloody and brutal, he, still young at the time, could clearly see the thread of history. Even amidst the darkest purgatory of that time, people still yearned for a peaceful and bright future and fought passionately for it.
But now, this increasingly bizarre world has made even Kissinger, a self-proclaimed master of geopolitics, a little confused.
With such melancholy thoughts, Dr. Kissinger slowly walked through the corridor, passing by well-dressed men and women, and came to the door of the White House.
When he rushed to the White House, it had just rained lightly in Washington, and the air was a bit cold and damp.
However, the rain has stopped now, so Kissinger continued to think silently as he walked out of the White House holding an umbrella.
The more than ten years of turmoil from the beginning of the Vietnam War to the present can almost be said to be the nightmare of all idealists.
All kinds of clowns and freaks appear on the stage, making this beautiful yet ugly world even more bizarre and chaotic.
Whether left or right, whether capital or society.
Whether it is democracy or autocracy, whether it is democratically elected or a military coup.
Whether it is "self-reform" of one's own country or "good-intentioned reform" of other countries.
They may have dreamed of building a beautiful paradise on earth in the beginning, but in the end they only built cruel hells on earth.
Over the past decade, people have witnessed countless crazy events, each one more outrageous than the last.
Watching generations of dragon slayers quickly turn into evil dragons, too many heroes fell into depravity after a brief moment of glory...
"Boom!!!"
Suddenly, there was a thunder in the night sky, followed by a rustling spring rain falling with the cold night wind.
Although the rain was not heavy, it was freezing cold, chilling enough to penetrate deep into the bones.
Feeling the cold rain, Dr. Kissinger, whose mind was originally in a state of confusion, suddenly shuddered and felt much more awake in an instant.
He did not open the umbrella immediately, but took a deep breath in the rain, letting it flow freely between his suit and muscles.
Yes, everything was just as he saw it. The world was changing, not necessarily for the better, but also for the worse.
But one day, heavy rain will wash away the dirt, heralding that the world will shed the ashes of the old era and usher in a brand new look.
Long wars and conflicts eventually wear on people, and endless disputes and games of chance will sooner or later extinguish the flames within. The fires of power and ambition will eventually be extinguished by the rain of sorrowful tears. The rain washes away the embers of war, revealing fresh green shoots and bringing life back to life.
Only when the years have worn away and the wind has dried up can a new flame be ignited, once again burning the world and starting a new cycle...
But that is something that will happen a long, long time from now, and it is a question for the next generation to think about. He, a remnant of the old era, does not need to interfere.
He had long known that the current Swedish crisis was merely a sham, and that the confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union would soon ease. Since President Nixon's last visit to Moscow, the two superpowers had been reaching a tacit understanding at an astonishing speed to redistribute their spheres of influence.
Although the interests of many small and medium-sized countries will inevitably be violated and sacrificed during this period, it is still much better than a new world war.
After strengthening his belief, Dr. Kissinger took another deep breath, rushed into his car in the rain, and rushed to a cafe overnight, which was actually a CIA safe house and secret negotiation site. He engaged in a bureaucratic debate with a CIA executive until late at night.
Then, the next day, before he could get up to go to the White House to meet with the president and report on the negotiation progress, he felt that he had a high fever and could hardly get out of bed.
But then, when his investment manager called, Dr. Kissinger, who was clearly paralyzed by a fever, suddenly jumped out of bed and screamed, "Oh my God! Why didn't you sell it? My pension, my savings! It's all gone!"
The answer is that they won’t do anything unless you pay.
And just a month ago, the same host was still loudly singing the praises of the China collapse theory - he is indeed a genius in journalism!
Of course, these are actually all tactics to force the United States to pay money, but they dare to do so, which shows that they have backbone.
If it were the colonists, not to mention working for free, even if the United States wanted to collect money from them, they would definitely be grateful and go bankrupt.
Chapter 595: The Total Stalling of the World Economic Engine (Part 2)
Although the United States has experienced countless economic crises and financial turmoil in its short history, with repeated "Black Monday," "Black Tuesday," and "Black Friday"—even though the American people have long since grown numb and accustomed to these events—the stock market crash of April 1971, however, significantly altered people's perceptions by surpassing the decline of the Great Depression of 1929 in one fell swoop.
——The New York Stock Exchange, which had been closed for more than half a year since the Civil War, had just reopened in April and began to plummet.
People who had lost confidence in the stock market were frantically selling off any stocks they held. Half an hour after the New York Stock Exchange opened, it collapsed and circuit-breakers erupted in a hysterical frenzy. Every broker was tearing at his collar, howling in despair.
More than 40 years later, Americans once again experienced the crazy stock market of the Great Depression.
Countless US dollar funds are like a flood that has been released, trampling on the market without any regard!
Subsequently, the disastrous performance of the New York Stock Exchange after reopening affected stock markets around the world, causing them to plummet and begin to break circuit breakers one after another.
From America to Europe, and then to Japan and Hong Kong in East Asia, the market value of major companies was devastated, investment companies went bankrupt in large numbers, and there was a large-scale stampede of retail investors fleeing, and speculators lined up to jump off rooftops and perform aerial acrobatics.
After three days of suspension on Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange experienced three consecutive circuit breakers, and stock prices continued to plummet. In just two weeks, $3 trillion in wealth was wiped out from the New York Stock Exchange, a hundred times the amount lost in the 1929 stock market crash.
What’s even more frightening is that even after plummeting to this point, the New York stock market did not stop falling and rebound, but continued to fall, which is almost irreversible.
After all, the disastrous defeat in the Vietnam War, the American Civil War, the Middle East nuclear war, the European nuclear explosion, the Swedish crisis that led to the US-Soviet military confrontation, the global influenza pandemic, and the hyperinflation that caused soaring prices that broke out in the previous year had already completely destroyed the last bit of global investors' confidence in the United States.
In the crazy decade that has just passed, Americans have once again pushed themselves into a desperate situation.
Newspapers, television, and radio in the United States were all shouting, "Another Great Depression is coming." The social unrest and public confusion were as severe as the last Great Depression in 1929.
The only difference is that in 1929, every time President Hoover made an optimistic public statement, the U.S. stock market fell; and in 1971, President Nixon once again hid in the White House bunker, highlighting his reclusiveness and silence to the outside world.
Well, by the way, more police were deployed to patrol around the White House day and night, the gate of the presidential palace was locked with an iron chain, and barbed wire was pulled outside.
But the actual impact is no different. The whole society is shrouded in pessimism, disappointment and hostility.
American optimists are immigrating to Latin America, pessimists are busy stockpiling canned food and digging underground shelters, and no one is willing to invest in any industry.
Moreover, like the Great Depression of 1929, this is not a crisis unique to the United States, but a major collapse of confidence in the entire capitalist world!
In the United States, there was a triple blow in stocks, bonds and currencies, followed by crazy bank runs, bankruptcies of insurance companies, factory closures, unemployment of workers, and a continuous decline in the real estate market, which in turn led to the decline of all industries... But in Britain, France, Germany and Japan, there was also widespread grief. From the City of London to Ginza in Tokyo, investors who had jumped from buildings lined up in long queues on the rooftops of skyscrapers, and the poor who received relief could be lined up for three blocks from the doors of churches and charities. The streets of London, Paris and Amsterdam were in chaos, and desperate people everywhere were using violence to retaliate against society.
The engine of the world economy has stalled again. The chain of operation of the capitalist economy has been completely broken by human stupidity. The economic crisis sweeping the world is like a tsunami and landslide, engulfing the petty bourgeoisie of the entire capitalist world in this great era.
Many working-class people who were struggling to make ends meet, as well as speculators who were hoping to get rich overnight, suddenly faced the end of their rope.
First they lost their jobs, along with their stock funds and bank deposits, as well as the insurance they saved every year to buy. Then they were kicked out of their homes by the bank, left on the streets, wandering aimlessly on the roads, driven away by the police, harassed by gangs, and waiting in line for relief food... Men even started stealing and robbing, women selling themselves at extremely low prices, and children rummaging through trash cans for food, catching mice and roasting them over the fire. On one side of the city, rows of houses had "For Sale" signs in front of their doors, but no one was interested; on the other side, dirty and tattered tents filled the streets, and the former white-collar elites could only sleep with their arms folded in waste newspapers - the houses were empty, and the streets were full of people. The contrast was truly absurd.
Last time, the homeless people's shabby tents and cardboard houses were called "Hoovervilles." What should we call them this time? Camp Nixon?
