Infinite Hunter

After so many years, the North finally saw a live, human-controlled flying dragon again. The last time was over a hundred years ago, right? The black dragon behaved like a docile horse—it had been somewhat unruly to begin with, but ever since Cheng Yijiu rode it, it had become increasingly docile.
"Perhaps it was the light on my body that frightened it." Cheng Yijiu had some ideas about this. It should be that he was blessed by Apollo, the god of light and the sun. Facing this skeleton-like flying dragon that was hatched from the dragon egg in the body of the corpse dragon on the destroyed Valyrian Peninsula, this powerful light should have a special effect.
However, this did nothing to change its hideous, skull-like appearance. Since it had grown up, the black dragon's face had become even more like a skull. It had no lips, its gums had receded, and its teeth and fangs were all exposed. There was not much flesh on its body, and it looked like a dried corpse.
When observed up close, the black dragon lay motionless. As long as Cheng Yijiu didn't give it an order, it wouldn't move. Raising this creature was worry-free because it could find its own food and didn't eat much—a whole cow a day would be enough, or an equal amount of other meats. If it really couldn't get enough food, the black dragon would go hungry for a week without any abnormalities.
Cheng Yijiu, who accepted the job, would not let the Young Wolf Lord assign him to do anything. His next task was to clear any Iron People warships on the sea, which was very suitable for Cheng Yijiu who was riding a flying dragon.
In the weeks that followed, Cheng Yijiu effectively cleared the sea, and the Ironmen ships dared not approach within fifty miles of the coastline. Cheng Yijiu even had time to fly to the archipelago and burn several Ironmen ships at the dock. The fire even ignited the entire harbor, and it's unknown how many people were killed.
Cheng Yijiu single-handedly destroyed nearly half the Ironborn fleet, essentially ruining the Ironborn king's dream of landing. Cheng Yijiu landed his dragon—though Pyke City was fortified, it was engulfed in blazing flames. A knight clad in a lion's skin leaped over the flames, its golden hide impervious to water and fire, instantly separating them. The powerful knight confronted King Baron and his guards.
The greatsword Soul Shattering reflected the glow of the flames, the sword seemingly ablaze. Cheng Yijiu's entire being seemed to be on fire, the lion's skin draped around him seeming to come alive, blazing mane, a furious roar. Cheng Yijiu launched an attack. As a swordsman, his greatsword skills had been refined to perfection after years of real combat.
So he used the lion skin on his shoulder to block the enemy's sword, and he swung his sword to chop off the heads of those unfortunate ones. The dragon's flames isolated the main force, and Cheng Yijiu cut down all the guards in just a few minutes. Now he was one-on-one with King Baron.
"Your head is worth a lot of gold royals, Baron," Cheng Yijiu said calmly. He didn't expend much energy because he usually killed his opponents with a single blow, rarely using any energy-consuming blocking. Although Baron didn't join the battle, the surrounding heat and scorching air had already greatly depleted his strength.
He looked at the Lion Knight in front of him, and his eyes showed only anger, but it was not directed at Cheng Yijiu, but at Robb Stark, which could be distinguished from the curses in his mouth. This man still had some tone and did not kneel down to beg for mercy, so Cheng Yijiu did not want to torture him.
The Lion Knight stepped forward quickly and Baron made a final fight for his life and honor, but his sword was more than a step slower. As he swung his sword, Cheng Yijiu's sword had pierced his throat, and the blade had cut off the aorta. Blood gushed out. Because the spine had been severed, the spurting blood pushed Baron's head onto one shoulder, with only some flesh connected.
Cheng Yijiu swung his sword, slicing away the flesh. He grabbed Baron's head, and with a long roar, the dragon flapped its wings, parting the flames and landing beside him. Cheng Yijiu climbed onto the dragon saddle. The black dragon roared, soaring into the air, then turned and flew back to the mainland. For this deed, Cheng Yijiu was rewarded with a thousand gold dragons—the life of King Baron, one of the Five Kings, was worth only that much.
However, Cheng Yijiu had always refused the King of the North's invitation, even when he was willing to grant him an earldom. However, none of Robb's vassals felt that Cheng Yijiu's behavior was a disrespect to their lord. Because Cheng Yijiu's current reputation and status were absolutely worthy of it. He was a living legend in Westeros, like a hero who walked out of an ancient myth.
"What did you say?" Cheng Yijiu looked at the woman in red with a headache. Was she some kind of "prophet" of some god? Cheng Yijiu had no idea what this red-robed witch named Melisandre was up to when she spoke so much nonsense to him. "Lord of Light? What the hell? That name is so hard to pronounce. This person is resurrected? What am I? The Lord of Light? Madam, could you please organize your words and finish your speech in a coherent manner?"
Cheng Yijiu's dragon landed beside him at this time. Cheng Yijiu had just completed his mission of killing Balon and was resting instead of continuing his attack. He did not live in the castle but instead set up a large tent on the ground. It was at this time that the red witch suddenly appeared and found him. Since Cheng Yijiu did not like her, Robb did not place any guards outside him and his dragon.
This was the most powerful swordsman in all of Westeros, and he even possessed a real flying dragon. Who would dare to harm him? Therefore, the Red Witch went straight to Cheng Yijiu without anyone stopping her. At the time, Cheng Yijiu was sitting on a wooden bench outside the tent. Next to him was a tree stump, on which lay some smoked meat and other food, as well as a large bottle of wine—more like grape juice with a hint of alcohol than wine.
Cheng Yijiu was not wearing armor at the moment, and his lion skin was casually placed on a wooden rack beside him. His famous sharp sword, "Soul Breaker," was leaning against a tree stump. Cheng Yijiu was quite relaxed at this moment. Then this woman came rushing over and chattered a series of words...
Cheng Yijiu simply couldn't figure it out. He hadn't seen Ice and Fire, at least not in detail. All he knew about it was just some online posts, so he had no idea who this woman was. The Red Witch should be with Lord Stannis at this time, but why did she end up here? Cheng Yijiu had no idea. He didn't even know she was Stannis's man.
But the witch's fanatical look at him now made Cheng Yijiu a little frightened...
Chapter 33 Story
After a long time, the whole thing was finally clear. This red-robed witch named Melisandre was a priestess of the god, the Lord of Light. She came here because she saw Cheng Yijiu in the sacred fire, wearing a glittering golden lion skin. So she thought he was the reincarnation of some ancient hero. But after actually seeing him, she had evolved to believe that Cheng Yijiu was the incarnation of a god.
Now that the dragon was in existence, magic naturally revived. The flames that Cheng Yijiu had ignited before Melisandre burned with unusual intensity. "You are radiant with light, proof that you are the Lord of Light," the kneeling red-robed witch said respectfully, "Please allow me to follow you." Cheng Yijiu was perplexed. "Lord of Light? Hey, she must have mistaken Apollo's blessing for the Lord of Light." It was no wonder, after all, Apollo was the god of light and the sun.
His blessing granted Cheng Yijiu resistance to darkness and enhanced destructive abilities, manifesting as a man blessed by the sun. This was why his lion hide was so resplendent and magnificent—wasn't it simply because it glowed and reflected the sunlight? Cheng Yijiu could only smile wryly at this misidentification. He wouldn't kill this woman simply because of her "misidentification."
But now it seemed that no explanation was possible, so he let her be. At least this red-robed witch was quite pleasing to the eye—Cheng Yijiu certainly didn't know how old she was. Of course, Cheng Yijiu couldn't bring her along on his mission. If she voluntarily hung around Cheng Yijiu, that was her business. The Lion Knight wouldn't expel this weird woman—she was a difficult person to deal with, so it was better to have her in front of him than to let her cause trouble in secret.
The Ironborn elected a successor, but he was no longer able to continue their attacks on the mainland. The Ironborn suffered heavy losses and needed time to recover. Until new ships were built, they lacked the strength to reach Westeros. Instead, they worried about Cheng Yijiu's frequent attacks, including setting fires and landing with the Northern fleet. Therefore, the new king sent peace envoys, seeking a peace treaty.
This matter rested solely with Robb. Cheng Yijiu, a mercenary, would have no say in the matter. Even when Robb and the Northern nobles wanted him to participate in the negotiations and express his opinion, Cheng Yijiu declined to participate—that would have been merely mercenary service, while participating would have been a political statement. The Red Witch was also a wise woman, and seeing Cheng Yijiu's expression, she also declined to express her opinion—Cheng Yijiu was completely different from Stannis, and he had no ambition for power or status.
She actually wanted Cheng Yijiu to hold real power and become the king of Westeros, but Cheng Yijiu didn't have that intention. Melisandre couldn't use magic like she did when facing Stannis. Cheng Yijiu would really kill her - if she used such means.
Is Robb engaged to the Freys? Cheng Yijiu heard that they were engaged—but he didn't like the old Lord Frey at all, not since he first saw him. And now Robb was about to lead his army south, preparing to cross the swamp to attack King's Landing. Stannis couldn't be relied upon, and Renly was entangled with the Lannisters, so King's Landing could only rely on itself for defense. Cheng Yijiu had no intention of accepting employment in such a battle—this was war, and he couldn't make much of a difference.
This was Cheng Yijiu's own opinion. He had no troops directly under his command, and even if Robb assigned him troops, he wouldn't be able to command them—he hadn't received classical military command training and didn't want to accept it. However, Robb insisted that he follow behind the main force, so that if he accepted a commission, he wouldn't be late—dragons are very effective weapons of mass destruction. Cheng Yijiu agreed to this request and followed behind the army.
Unfortunately, this battle ended with Robb retreating. Renly failed to intercept the Lannister army, and the Lannisters cut off Robb's logistics and burned a considerable amount of food. Therefore, Robb quickly retreated before the situation became too serious. Cheng Yijiu played no role, and he just rode his dragon to patrol back and forth. Robb gave him this mercenary mission to stabilize the army.
It wasn't much work, but the pay was good. During the retreat, Robb was injured—he repelled the Lannisters' pursuit, but the Young Wolf himself sustained a shoulder injury, so he stayed in the Riverlands after reestablishing his supply lines. "Please protect him," said Daisy Mormont of Bear Island, bowing to Cheng Yijiu. Robb's injury had made his personal guards feel derelict in their duty, so Daisy approached Cheng Yijiu.
Looking at the tall heir of Bear Island in front of him, Cheng Yijiu also smiled, "Okay, I accept your employment, ma'am. I don't think Robb needs many guards, and it is a more appropriate choice for you to go back and lead the army." Robb stayed in the castle to recuperate, while Cheng Yijiu built his own dragon cave on the high platform of the castle - he didn't want to live in the rooms in the castle, he would rather set up a tent on the shooting platform, and his flying dragon would stay here.
This elevated platform offers a direct view of the room where Robb recuperated—at Cheng Yijiu's request, Robb had been forced to stay in this large windowed room. His relationship with his caretaker, Jeyne Westerling, developed under Cheng Yijiu's watchful eye, clearly observed by the Lion Knight. Initially, Jeyne was curious about the Lion Knight—a living legend, now the foremost swordsman in the Seven Kingdoms.
What's more, the Lion Knight had brought with him Westeros' only dragon, a flying dragon that flew around the castle all day. Jenny had approached Cheng Yijiu cautiously, but she hadn't expected the Lion Knight to be surprisingly kind, even allowing her to pet the dragon and the legendary lion's hide, said to be impervious to swords, spears, water, and fire. The young woman had once asked where the lion's hide came from—and when she asked this, the Red Witch pricked up her ears, curious as well.
Because this lion skin was not simple, Melisandre could sense its strange power. Cheng Yijiu told the story to the young girl, finding it quite entertaining. Jeyne wasn't his type, so Cheng Yijiu treated her as just a close friend. As he was telling the story, Robb, the Young Wolf, approached. With him, his guard, Daisy Mormont, also arrived. They all came to listen to Cheng Yijiu's story of the lion...
Chapter 34: Battle Line
Cheng Yijiu would not tell them about Apollo, the god of light. He only said that he had received a command from a certain god to kill the lion that was ravaging the land. The lion was as big as a buffalo and was invulnerable to swords and spears. Ordinary weapons were completely powerless against it.
"I used a stone club, and I hit it hard with the stone club, but I couldn't kill it, so I jumped onto its back and strangled the lion with my arms..." Cheng Yijiu's story cannot be said to be as dramatic as a bard in a tavern, but from his plain narration, one can fully appreciate the powerful force of the legend.
"I peeled off its skin with its own claws and dedicated it to the gods, and the gods gave it to me." Cheng Yijiu stroked the lion skin beside him. The lion skin felt soft and furry and very comfortable, but it was invulnerable to swords and guns, water and fire. Even when the war hammer hit it, the lion skin gave people the feeling that the lion's muscles and bones were still there, still indestructible.
This is truly a gift from God, and everyone who was present to listen to the story can confirm this. Cheng Yijiu, who killed such a magical lion and was blessed by God, can certainly be called a demigod-like strong man - strangling a lion to death with one's arms is not something that everyone can do, even the Demon Mountain would probably be in danger.
After finishing his legendary story, Cheng Yijiu smiled and signaled them to leave as he needed to rest.
After this, it seems that Miss Jenny is very aware of the gap between her and Cheng Yijiu, and she gradually begins to focus on Robb. Cheng Yijiu, who accepted the job, guarded these people until Robb married Jenny and recovered from his injuries.
"He's a young man who can't control himself. He's more like Robert's child. Robert has no control over this aspect." Cheng Yijiu was not surprised by this, and he wouldn't try to persuade him. He was just a hired warrior anyway. However, there was one piece of news that made him very happy. That was that the new king of the Ironborn took his fleet out to sea to pick up the Dragon Queen. It seemed that he was unwilling to admit defeat.
Since the Dragon Queen has come, it means that at least three dragons can become prey. Cheng Yijiu really doesn't dare to say whether he can complete the mission if he can really kill a dragon - maybe he will have to go deep into the North. It is said that a long time ago, someone had seen an ice dragon appearing with the White Walkers there.
Cheng Yijiu no longer held out hope. Luckily, he knew he could return when the time came, and his body wouldn't age. "But the passage of time is real. If this continues, my heart will age first," he lamented, leaning against the tent bed. The tent door was carefully pushed open, and a skull-like dragon head leaned sideways toward the door, peering at Cheng Yijiu inside.
The Lion Knight smiled and waved his hand to show that he was fine - dragons have high IQs, and this guy's intelligence is probably close to that of a ten-year-old child now.
Robb's actions were politically unacceptable, as they meant the collapse of his alliance—the Freys would surely become disunited, if not enemies... but what did it matter? Cheng Yijiu saw that the Freys were unreliable anyway, so why not just kill them all and replace them with his own people?
In fact, Cheng Yijiu believed that the entire political structure of Westeros was filled with the stench of feudalism and bloodline theory. He naturally refused to become one of them, which was why he discarded the so-called earl title like a piece of trash. Moreover, the reputation of the Lion Knight was probably the highest in all of Westeros.
Before the arrival of the Dragon Girl, his black dragon was the only dragon, and Cheng Yijiu accepted Robb's next employment after he recovered - after clearing the supply lines, Robb was ready to continue south, threaten King's Landing, and force Lannister to fight him.
As long as the army of Duke Lannister is defeated and destroyed in the battle, the War of the Five Kings will be over soon - Duke Renly Baratheon has not shown enough ability to become the King of Westeros. He may be a "puppet" who can be sold out by his nobles at any time in exchange for greater benefits, but he himself probably does not have a clear understanding of this.
The Northern King's army once again approached the Blackwater River, and this time Tyrion led the army of King's Landing out of the city. He also forced his sister, Queen Cersei, to let King Joffrey lead the army in person to boost morale. The two armies faced off across the Blackwater River. Soon after, Renly's army arrived on the other side, but it was unclear what they were doing.
Only Lord Tywin Lannister's army hadn't arrived yet. It seemed the ruthless Lord was determined to let Robb's army deplete its forces before he would come and take advantage. Whether his son Tyrion would be defeated in the meantime was not a consideration for the Lord.
Above Robb's army, a black dragon circled, its back reflecting a golden light. Cheng Yijiu, draped in a lion skin, sat atop the dragon, overlooking the battlefield. He had agreed with Robb: first, Robb would use fireworks to command him to attack, and second, Cheng Yijiu would join the battle based on his own considerations.
Robb had paid him a large commission, so Cheng Yijiu decided to do it right. He not only had the black dragon hover over the Northern army to "boost morale," but he also had it fly over the King's Landing army to intimidate them. Seeing the army below begin to fall into chaos was quite amusing to Cheng Yijiu.
He commanded the Black Dragon to fly quickly, cutting into the battle line of soldiers below at an altitude of about thirty meters from the ground, and then passing along the battle line at high speed as if a fire cloud would fall from the sky the next moment. Generally speaking, the soldiers would be scattered, and only a few soldiers could maintain the battle line.
In this way, Cheng Yijiu distinguished who was the mob in King's Landing and who was the elite army of Lannister. If this battle started now, it would be no surprise that Robb would defeat the King's Landing army - but who made the Blackwater River stand in between?
There was no Blackwater River between Renly and Robb's armies, but the movements of Renly's army were indeed unclear. Robb asked Cheng Yijiu not to go directly against Renly's army, so Cheng Yijiu followed his employer's request and did not intimidate Renly's Highgarden army.
After circling for a while, Cheng Yijiu ordered the black dragon to return to the rear of Robb's army and land on the ground to rest. He felt very good because Cheng Yijiu's sharp eyesight saw King Joffrey, who was heavily protected and had a special crossbow equipped to fire into the air. He was in a protective circle. This kid would definitely be furious. Just thinking about this made Cheng Yijiu feel good.
Chapter 35 Political Idiot
In fact, whether it was King's Landing, Renly, or even the Lannisters, there were people secretly contacting Cheng Yijiu—how could you expect a feudal lord's army to be as tight as steel? Of course, there were loopholes everywhere, like a sieve. Of course, they all paid a high price to win over Cheng Yijiu, the Lion Knight, Westeros's greatest swordsman and the wielder of the black dragon.
Before they came, their respective lords had of course obtained detailed intelligence and knew that Cheng Yijiu did not accept the title of king from Robb, the King of the North. In other words, he did not pledge allegiance to Robb and become his vassal, but only accepted the employment of the King of the North as a mercenary.
Robb was lucky enough to get a contract to hire such a legendary "demigod". However, it was the Lannisters who first hired this lion knight, but unfortunately they were unable to keep him employed.
If they were to poach the Lion Knight now, regardless of the price offered, simply getting him to renounce his original contract would be difficult. Mercenaries weren't just hyenas of war; they also had to abide by a sacred contract. Accepting bribes and then turning against their employers was generally unacceptable. It would be fine for ordinary mercenaries, but for a legend like the Lion Knight, people considered him a noble knight, and there was no way he would humiliate himself on such a matter.
Indeed, Cheng Yijiu would never accept such an offer to turn against Robb. His employment contract with Robb had not yet expired, and Cheng Yijiu did not want to sign a new contract after it expired, but he would never accept bribes from those people and cut corners in battle within the deadline.
The only thing they offered to bribe Cheng Yijiu was the golden dragon. Since Cheng Yijiu did not accept Robb's enthronement, he certainly would not accept the enthronements from the three parties - among them, only King's Landing had a slight advantage, because no matter what, the late King Robert had once enthroned Cheng Yijiu, the Lion Knight, as an earl, but it was a pity that it was deprived by King Joffrey.
Joffrey's actions were utterly foolish, but it was too late to undo the decisions he had made during his interregnum; the impact had already been felt. The king was a complete tyrant, and his reputation as an unreliable ruler had spread throughout the Seven Kingdoms. As the Lion Knight's fame grew, so did King Joffrey's.
Although they cannot bribe Cheng Yijiu, they can get to know him first. Maybe they can get a chance to hire him?
The Battle of the Blackwater saw both sides facing each other across the river, neither wanting to cross and attack—at least not until they had secured an advantage. King's Landing awaited the arrival of the Lannister army, while the Northern army simply couldn't find a suitable opportunity to strike. Cheng Yijiu flew his usual daily laps, so the delay didn't affect him; he only had six days left on his contract.
Robb wanted to continue hiring him, but Cheng Yijiu declined - this meant that Robb had to launch an attack within a few days. And Robb did find an opportunity to launch an attack. The little devil plundered a large amount of black fire from King's Landing, preparing to throw it on the Blackwater River during the battle to ignite it and thus split the Northern army.
In the end, he never got the chance to use it—Robb had crossed the river from where Renly was stationed, and he had actually attacked Renly. This caught the Highgarden army off guard, especially since the black dragon was circling overhead and swooped down to spit a line of fire directly onto the battle line.
This line of fire broke Renly's army. Robb personally led the Northern cavalry through the flames, breaking through the center, sweeping across Renly's line and forcing the entire army of Highgarden to retreat. The next step was to quickly cross the river and attack the lines at King's Landing. The Imp was a fairly good commander, and he immediately adjusted the battle line.
All of this was visible to Cheng Yijiu in the sky. He didn't continue to attack, but simply circled for a moment before leaving the battlefield. He was waiting to slay the dragon, and judging by the situation, King's Landing couldn't lose, and of course Robb couldn't lose either. At most, they would fight a battle and then consolidate their respective fronts.
Robb couldn't capture King's Landing without destroying the Lannister army. And without uniting the armies of all the nobles in his domain and truly uniting them into a single, powerful army, Robb couldn't destroy the Lannisters either. So, let them be.
As Cheng Yijiu expected, the Lannister army suddenly arrived at this time, and Robb retreated to the other side of the Blackwater River, and then began to retreat - the infantry led by Earl Bolton stayed behind and gradually retreated to the north.
Cheng Yijiu didn't continue north. He stopped at the Great Swamp. He had planned to stay there before the Dragon Girl arrived with her dragons. The black dragon loved the swamps here because it could find plenty of prey. He built a wooden house on the swamp—and Robb had sent someone to help him.
The elevated cabin was less damp, and the Lion Knight had so many visitors that Cheng Yijiu had to keep flying on his black dragon to find a moment of peace and quiet. "These Ironborn are so slow! How long does it take to find the Dragon Girl? And there's still no news."
Just when he was getting a little impatient, an invitation was delivered to him by Robb's guard, the knight Daisy from Bear Island. "Invite me to attend the Frey family wedding? Okay." Cheng Yijiu thought that he couldn't refuse the invitation and promised that he would go.
He didn't like old Frey at all. He was incredibly annoying—not many people were nearly ninety and still that annoying. He'd been married eight times and had dozens of children, so he had a lot of leverage. He'd even been engaged to Robb, asking him to marry his daughter, but Robb had reneged...
Robb was being reckless in this regard. If he were a ruthless man like Lord Lannister, the Freys would have been wiped out by him by now. But Robb couldn't do this. He couldn't integrate the armies of all the northern nobles. So it wasn't that Cheng Yijiu looked down on him, but he had absolutely no hope of becoming the new King of the Seven Kingdoms.
Robb, accompanied by his guards, bannermen, and 3,500 Stark soldiers, arrived at the Frey castle and received a warm welcome. Not only were there Freys, but also Bolton, the Freys' son-in-law, was present. Just then, a long dragon roar echoed from the sky. A black dragon broke through the clouds and descended, its back gleaming with golden light in the sunlight.
The Lion Knight also arrived, having been invited by Robb.
The black dragon flew around the two castles and finally landed in an open field. From its back stepped the man wearing the lion skin that had shaken the continent...
Chapter 36 Banquet
Cheng Yijiu's arrival caused a small commotion below. Robb had only invited Cheng Yijiu to discuss a new contract, and it just so happened that he was attending the wedding banquet - this behavior was actually quite rude, but he was a feudal lord and had the right to do such things. Cheng Yijiu glanced around casually and saw that Bolton was normal, but the old Earl Frey had a slight twitch on his cheek.
Robb's northern servants welcomed Cheng Yijiu's arrival, but Cheng Yijiu declined the offer to rest inside the castle. Instead, he stayed outside the city with Robb's army in his own tent. Cheng Yijiu vaguely remembered several famous murders, but in his impression, the so-called Red Wedding was against King Joffrey, and Joffrey was indeed murdered - this was what Cheng Yijiu remembered.
He didn't know whether Robb was dead or not, because he had never read the book or watched the TV series, but he was introduced to it by others.
The skeletal black dragon and lion knight brought dismay—dismay to the Freys and Boltons. For a moment, they were unsure whether to proceed with this plan. If they didn't act this time, their allegiance to the Lannisters would be exposed—and the Lannisters wouldn't tolerate their hesitation and would proactively make the matter public. As for how the Freys and Boltons could survive the attack from the King of the North? That had nothing to do with Lord Lannister.
So they had to do it no matter what, even if someone unexpected came - they could only try to kill him together. As for whether they could secretly plot against Cheng Yijiu?
Cheng Yijiu brought his own food, and the black dragon foraged for its own food—the river was full of fish, and it didn't matter if the black dragon went without food for a while. Cheng Yijiu declined the invitation to the feast, stating that he wasn't a guest of the Freys, but rather that he had come at Robb's invitation. He also didn't bring any wedding gifts, so he wasn't qualified to be a guest.
So Cheng Yijiu asked Robb's vassal to entertain the guests - the female knight Daisy, who was more familiar to him. Cheng Yijiu put the wine aside, "I just don't like drinking this type of wine, not that I am dissatisfied with it." He explained to Daisy. Cheng Yijiu prepared plain water for himself. He ate while chatting with Daisy and several other entertaining knights, and they were quite happy.
At this moment, the black dragon, which had been standing aside, suddenly raised its head and let out a long roar. Cheng Yijiu also stood up and casually threw the lion skin on his body. He was not wearing chain mail underneath, but his greatsword was always at hand, and Cheng Yijiu also grasped the hilt. "Someone with bad intentions is approaching, and there is a murderous aura in the castle," Cheng Yijiu said with a serious expression.
"Who would directly violate the sacred rights of a guest?" Daisy and the other knights were incredulous, but they also grabbed their weapons—they didn't have to wear armor, but they certainly didn't leave their weapons. "I told you the Freys were despicable," Cheng Yijiu muttered. He had always disliked the old Frey. Cheng Yijiu whistled, sending the black dragon flying and attacking—this creature's intelligence was enough to allow it to identify its enemy.
Because dragons have excellent vision and smell, and a good memory, they memorized the scent and image of Robb and his men, and those who attacked them were naturally enemies. Cheng Yijiu ran quickly, rushing towards the camp where the garrison was stationed with Daisy and the others. "This is a big problem," Cheng Yijiu said, looking at the situation before him—a large number of poisoned soldiers, their limbs weak and unable to resist.
There were already Frey and Bolton soldiers slaughtering people around them. At this moment, a dragon roared in the sky, and flames burned along the periphery, creating hundreds of human torches from the Freys and Boltons right before Cheng Yijiu's eyes. Of course, there were also unlucky Northern soldiers who were caught up in it. At this time, Daisy and the others had already started fighting, and Cheng Yijiu directly grabbed the dragon's foot, "Go to the hall!" He shouted.
Three huge tents have been set on fire. In Cheng Yijiu's opinion, most of the northern soldiers are probably beyond saving.
The slaughter in the hall had just begun. Crossbowmen had already killed several men, and Frey and Bolton, with their axemen, had also charged into the hall. As for Cheng Yijiu—in their haste, they could only ignore him for now. Killing Robb first was the end of the matter. To appease this powerful Lion Knight, they might have to rely on the Lannisters. A heavy thud echoed from the ceiling of the hall, and soon the door was flung open, and a dragon's head flashed through the doorway.
The black dragon flew away, but at the gate, the knights draped in lion skins had already drawn their greatswords. "By trampling on the sacred rights of guests, Frey and Bolton have forfeited their right to live." Cheng Yijiu stepped forward. The powerful crossbow bolts were powerless to penetrate the golden lion hide, not even the warriors behind it. Cheng Yijiu wore no armor except the lion skin, so he was extremely light. He approached at high speed and swung his sword, sending the crossbowmen falling to the ground with screams.
Cheng Yijiu's fighting and killing speed is extremely fast, and his movement speed is also very fast - he will be in trouble if he is surrounded. The European Sword Master has long said that if you encounter this situation, just throw your sword into the crowd, and then turn around and make a tactical move.
The lion skin was extremely useful. In many cases, Cheng Yijiu could kill quickly without dodging, simply using the lion skin to block the attack. The opponent would habitually swing their weapons and prepare to pursue after the opponent dodged, but Cheng Yijiu didn't dodge at all and let him attack directly. The attack was useless on the lion skin, and the next second the sword took the attacker's life. When Cheng Yijiu rushed to Robb and his mother, whose arms were pierced by crossbows, more than a dozen Frey warriors had already fallen from the hall to here.
Cheng Yijiu jumped left and right to cover their escape, while Robb's guards also desperately covered their lord. If they left the hall, they would be protected by the black dragon and could escape directly. Cheng Yijiu took a step forward and killed Old Frey. The golden lion skin was splattered with blood. The lion seemed to come alive. The hall even rang with an unexplained lion roar.
Neither swords nor axes could hurt Cheng Yijiu who was wearing a lion skin. It was only then that Frey and Bolton understood what a "demigod" knight was. Along with the appearance of flames, the gate also exploded, and the Frey soldiers who squeezed in were blown to pieces - the red witch also appeared.
Chapter 37 Disgust
The appearance of the Red Witch meant that Robb and his companions were safe, and as long as they left the house, they would be under the protection of the black dragon. However, Cheng Yijiu's assault had yielded no results—Lord Frey had decisively fled, using the lives of his guards and his own descendants to hold back the Lion Knight, and Lord Bolton had also slipped away at about the same time—what fate they would meet afterwards was a matter for later consideration.
Cheng Yijiu slew more than twenty knights, including the son of House Frey, who was unable to survive a single round against the Lion Knight. "He's already ninety years old, yet he can still run so fast—maybe he'll live to be a hundred and twenty," Cheng Yijiu exclaimed in admiration. He then retreated to the gate. A black dragon circled in the sky, and the Frey soldiers had already fled.
At Cheng Yijiu's command, the black dragon landed, aimed at the entrance to the hall, and exhaled its terrifying dragon breath. Flames erupted from the windows high up in the hall, turning the entire room into a sea of fire. The soldiers who hadn't escaped screamed as they were set ablaze.
Robb, his guards, and family eventually escaped this dangerous place, but he lost over 2,000 of his 3,500 elite Northern soldiers—poisoning and burning, many of whom were beyond saving. It could be said that the King of the North had lost his position in the War of the Five Kings. He would have to lick his wounds for the next decade or so. He could only hope to hold on to the North without even dreaming of becoming King of the Seven Kingdoms for the next decade.
Revenge on the Freys and Boltons could only be postponed. The Starks now had to focus on maintaining their existing territory, even having to consider giving up some of the territory near the Freys and Boltons. The losses of these two families were relatively minor, only a few hundred men in total. Cheng Yijiu declined the Starks' offer, saying, "Both Robb and his father are politically naive. All of this is their own fault."
Cheng Yijiu was not interested in farming with the King of the North, so he escorted them back to the castle and left. Riding on a flying dragon, Cheng Yijiu had his own things to do - he despised Bolton and Frey very much, and was ready to have some fun with them, even if there was no money to be made.
The Freys would never abandon their territory, and the Twins would certainly never be abandoned—but now the city no longer lived up to its name. The massive stone bridge connecting the two banks had collapsed, brought down by the Lion Knight through some unknown means, with a thunderous sound and a massive tremor. Before the collapse, the black dragon and the Lion Knight had nearly wiped out the Frey guards on the bridge—Lord Frey had tragically lost his heir and several other children and grandchildren.
The dragon's flames and acidic breath caused severe casualties, and Cheng Yijiu, wielding his lion hide and greatsword, reaped the casualties like a god descending from heaven. Two hours after the bridge was freed from its defenders, it collapsed, and the Lion Knight rode away on his dragon. Almost every area directly under the Freys came under attack, and after about two weeks, the Freys could no longer hold out—they had chosen to retreat from the beginning, but ultimately, they couldn't hold out.
Frey tried to negotiate with the Lion Knight, but Cheng Yijiu had only one request: if Old Frey came out to die, he would spare the Frey family. Otherwise, he would kill every Frey he saw—he had already killed more than a dozen men from Frey's direct line. Old Frey simply refused to leave the house. As for how to collect tribute, it was his descendants' business. If they failed to do so, he would naturally punish them. Frey was quite violent even to his own children.
Especially in this situation, he spent the entire day in the castle cursing Cheng Yijiu, but aside from cursing, there was nothing he could do—the dragon would occasionally appear over the castle, spitting fire and burning it, causing extensive damage. Cheng Yijiu had discovered that using acid breath after burning was highly effective. Both castles had suffered extensive damage, and the Freys couldn't even communicate with each other—the collapsed bridge was impossible to repair, and using a small boat was too dangerous.
Old Frey was hiding in one of the castles, while his descendants and his vassals were being killed one by one outside. "Damn it! And Bolton! Why doesn't this damn villain attack the Bolton family!" Old Frey was yelling. Cheng Yijiu couldn't hear these yelling, nor did he bother to listen to the pleas for mercy from the Frey descendants after they met him. Cheng Yijiu gave them an equal death.
The Frey regime is crumbling...
