"Xiaomo Xiaomo, are we going back to the Citadel this afternoon?"
"Well, are you done packing?" Xing Mo asked.
"Alright, alright. I can't wait to go back and tell everyone about this heroic feat!" Miriam remained energetic. "However, even though we're going through the rift, you should bring your raincoat. It's raining heavily in the Academy City right now. The Third Department said there's been a lot of spiritual energy fluctuations coming from the Interstellar Sea lately. I'm guessing it's coming from Laslan City."
"It should be a chain reaction caused by the rise of the Skeleton Gate," Xing Mo said in a low voice, "Well, after we get back, we will go to Laslan."
She stood up, folded the newspaper, and stretched out her body towards the dawn light.
The rising of the Skeleton Gate does not seem to be the end, but the beginning of a series of butterfly effects.
When the butterfly of fate flaps its wings, a storm is approaching.
"Speaking of which, where's Vivian? Is she ready?"
"Ah, she said she won't go with us," Miriam's voice came, "It seems... she sensed something and wants to go back to Danzhou..."
"It should be something related to the Ice Dragon family..." Xing Mo muttered, "It's okay, it's very convenient to go through the rift anyway."
"Just take me here, I can walk on my own from now on."
Watching the roaring dragon fly away, Vivian turned her head and looked at the sea cliffs and shallows not far away.
These days, she has been continuously refining the scales on the back of her neck, constantly calming down the violent extraordinary source essence and trying to control it completely.
In the process, she inevitably saw some memory fragments remaining in the source matter.
She saw ice dragons soaring in the sky; she saw the emperor sitting on the frozen throne, commanding the hundreds to obey his orders; she saw the crescent moon rising high in the sky, with dragons dancing wildly under it.
The glory of the Ice Dragon family lingered in her mind, sometimes making her happy and sometimes sad.
Even if she were still alive, it would be difficult for the Ice Dragon family to develop into the prosperity it once was. Even if the great revenge has been taken, those dead dragons will never come back.
Vivian has always believed this since the Corpse Gate incident.
Until she discovered a broken memory.
That was a memory from Perses. In the memory, he was hanging above the Dragon Gate, and Moondust was floating in front of him, reaching out to his heart.
"...I promised you that I would give you a way to continue the Ice Dragon family lineage, and I won't break my promise..."
"...Everything I say is the truth..."
""
Vivian strolled through the village beside the shallows. It was far less prosperous than Danzhou City. Small houses were scattered together. The morning smoke from cooking rose into the sky, interweaving with the first ray of sunshine.
Children were running and laughing in the streets. From time to time, horse-drawn carriages carrying goods left the village. They were merchants transporting seafood to the market in town.
Vivian walked quietly through the bustling streets, reaching out to touch the morning mist.
A peaceful little fishing village far away from human habitation is the place that Perses remembers.
That was the broken memory given to him by Yuechen, and it was the place where the "method of family continuation" existed.
Vivian let herself wander in the fishing village. She had no set destination, but just wandered aimlessly based on inspiration.
After an unknown amount of time, she came to a shallow beach below a sea cliff. Not far away, she could see the rustling of fishing boats on the sea, and could vaguely hear the fishermen singing.
With the guidance of some mysterious being, Vivian walked straight to the beach and moved towards the sea step by step.
The water covered her slender ankles, thighs, and skirt. In a few seconds, her vision went to the bottom of the sea and moved down along the shallows.
Not long after walking, she noticed a faint icy blue light twinkling on the seabed not far away, like a star.
Under the pressure of the sea, Vivian's mind was a little dazed. From the boundless darkness, a voice from the past slowly came:
"When you were little, you told me that you longed to visit the other side of the sea. Whenever a merchant ship departed from the port and disappeared on the horizon, you would always stare at it, watching the sails disappear inch by inch."
"What I want to do is to make you and everyone in the Ice Dragon family
Every child can go out into the world.”
"Believe in me, okay? I will do it."
Vivian fell into the sea and soon stood where the blue halo was.
It was a cave with a pitch-black stone inlaid at the entrance. Only when Vivian set her eyes on it did a faint blue light appear.
Was this the secret for which Perses had given his life? A cave?
Vivian felt her heartbeat quickening. She took a step forward and walked towards the cave.
"thump."
The moment we passed through the cave, the sea water suddenly disappeared, and the cold air hit us in the face, mixed with a hint of chill.
The cold air seemed to carry a hint of oppression, but to Vivian, it was indeed a clear spring that seemed to be able to cleanse the soul.
Her pupils trembled slightly, and her steps became faster and faster...
Vivian ran in the darkness, the cold air blowing against her face became increasingly biting. The walls of the cave had been covered with black ice, reflecting crystal blue light.
She ran, chasing the seemingly fading figure, her footsteps echoing repeatedly in the cave.
As she ran, Vivian suddenly realized that the scenery under the moon that day seemed to have never left her mind. Those memories had always been buried there. They did not go away, but Vivian ran farther and farther away.
Escape, she has been escaping most of her life.
When she had no way out, she finally saw the mission that was coming. It was a mission that she and Poerseth should have shouldered together. However...
"Snapped."
The tunnel came to an abrupt end, and the cave in front of her suddenly became clear. Ice-blue light flooded in, making Vivian's vision a little blurry.
In a daze, she seemed to see the boy smiling innocently under the moon again:
"For you, I can do anything."
That night, the sea breeze was gentle and the moonlight was quiet.
And today, the tenderness of that night transcended the scale of time, using the boy's once fragile chest as a fulcrum to pry open a corner of history—
——The ice dragon's lair appeared before Vivian's eyes.
Hundreds and thousands of ice dragon eggs were sealed in the black ice, filling the entire cave.
Amidst the mysterious ice, the frozen throne stands, and the icy flames on it burn in the depths of history.
This is the secret that Perses exchanged his life for.
A dragon's nest forged by a nameless dragon king.
He existed earlier than the Ice Dragon Emperor. No one knew why he sealed so many Ice Dragon Eggs here. Perhaps it was a precaution, or perhaps it was an unintentional act.
""
Vivian walked through the long icy road, came to the throne, and quietly looked at the burning ice flame.
Suddenly, there was a "click" sound, which seemed to be the change brought about by Vivian's entry. The black ice on the wall began to shatter.
Vivian lowered her head and saw that a corner of an ice dragon egg beside the throne had cracked open, and a faint ice-blue light was flickering in the eggshell.
She squatted down and stared blankly at the egg as it broke bit by bit, with strands of icy blue emerging from it.
Then, a small head emerged from the eggshell.
"Well..."
The little ice dragon looked at the girl in front of him curiously. She had a small head and the scales on her skin had not yet grown fully, but ice-blue flames had already burned in her vertical pupils.
Vivian reached out her trembling hand, picked up the little dragon from the eggshell, and held it in her arms.
Emotions at this moment overwhelmed her like a landslide. The weight of her mother, brother, and all the sacrifices she had made, transcending time, pressed down hard on her shoulders at an angle she had never expected.
She hugged the little dragon and sobbed softly:
"It's fine..."
Vivian sobbed and patted Xiaolong's back.
"You'll be... okay... woo..."
Volume 4, "The Gate of Skeletons", is finished.
Frozen Garden - Mortiheim
In the world shrouded in cold wind and blizzard, the outline of the garden became increasingly blurred, and the fluorescent lights in the ice crystal flowers jumped all the way up the high mountains.
On the bulletin board at the top of the mountain, a priest in a black robe looked at the endless ice field in the distance, his golden eyes flickering slightly.
As usual, he picked up a thick scripture from the bulletin board, opened it, and muttered in a low voice:
"...those who have not repented walk on the path of sin, their sins have become stone, and the vast world has become a sea of stone..."
While chanting softly, the priest's gaze fell on an ice-crystal mountain in the distance. It was a mountain that suddenly appeared not long ago, rising from the earth's crust and absorbing the spiritual power of Mortiheim.
"The Skeleton Gate has risen as promised, the crescent moon has set, and the moon has risen as usual..."
He gently brushed the yellowed parchment leaves with his old hands, and golden light flashed in his eyes.
At this moment, a wisp of cold wind took shape, and a humanoid monster covered in ice blue squatted down behind him and whispered:
"Father Enoch, the strings of the Mother Goddess have trembled again."
"Very good..." Father Enoch turned his head and looked at the garden below the mountaintop. "The Mother Goddess and the mad crow have been facing each other in the long river of fate for a long time. I have waited for a long time without hearing Her gospel..."
After saying this, Father Enoch reached out and grasped a string of pure gold.
The golden symbol flashed rapidly before his eyes, finally outlining Cain's face and a faint whisper:
"...The time of disaster is coming, go and seize the crown of the Dark Elf King..."
Enoch opened his eyes and nodded calmly.
He picked up the Gospel from the stage, lowered his head, and his eyes fell on the monster.
"How is the spread of the cold wave?" he asked.
"The Caradorans Mountains will soon be unable to stop our snowstorms," the goblin said with a strange smile, "and soon, Winter County will be within our range of activities again..."
"Even so, eat less people, kill less animals, and educate them with the gospel..." Enoch advised calmly.
"Father...I...understand..."
The goblin seemed to want to refute something, but was afraid of the golden light in the latter's pupils, so he said nothing in the end.
Father Enoch, holding the Gospel in his arms, turned and looked at the endless academy, his face as solemn as a stone statue.
"Lord... they see the mote in your eye, but they have not looked for the beam in their own pupil..."
Six golden wings bloomed from behind him, and the plump wings sparkled with golden starlight, outlining him like a star blooming on the top of a mountain.
"boom----"
A sonic boom rang out, and golden stars streaked across the sky, passing through the snowstorm and flying straight to the south of Mortiheim.
At the end of the world, the wind and snow still blow.
...END...
Volume 4 is finished.
Volume 4, the finale!
As the first part of the next trilogy, I was always a little nervous when writing this volume. After all, the previous story network has been fully laid out, and the next trilogy will use the "Dragon Gate" and Bahamut's mention of "The shed dragon will cross the Dragon Gate and become a new crescent moon" as the plot line, and begin to bring together the "Undersea Civilization Laslan", "Ice Dragon Family" and "Reborn Dragon" to form the main line of the next three parts. Therefore, I was also extremely careful when writing, and I had to tie up the lines immediately when I needed to.
Fortunately, it landed smoothly.
The subsequent plot connection should be much easier. All the plot lines laid out one million words ago are moving towards the finale of this book. The next step is to set off firecrackers!
To be honest, writing really makes people secrete dopamine like crazy, and the more they write, the happier they feel.
The theme of Volume 5 can be previewed. The main setting is the Kingdom of Messina, and the key point is "upgraded to an angel."
As always, what do you think of this volume of Corpse Gate? Share your thoughts and suggestions!
What follows is just some complaints. As usual, you can skip it if you are not interested!
""
It's been almost three months since I wrote this volume, and it's been quite a rollercoaster. First, I had surgery for some minor ailments, then developed anxiety. Now that I'm finally breathing again, most of my mental energy has been put into psychological recovery. Along the way, I was also subjected to a small group of people who cursed and harassed me, threatened to destroy my job, and launched a barrage of personal attacks. It was quite ferocious.
Life is like this. It will always give you a little bit of intensity when things are going smoothly. There will always be bitterness after sweetness.
However, after bitterness there will inevitably be sweetness~
At this stage, Little White Flower didn't have a lot of follow-up readers. Most of the time, I was writing alone, and two or three readers would complain and comment. Little Evil God's follow-up readers were obviously much better. Every chapter would have someone discussing the plot, urging for more updates, and so on.
