“Eh…”

Although she really wanted to say, "I'm embarrassed to say that," the current atmosphere made it impossible for Ella to speak. She could only try her best not to ruin the atmosphere.

"Ella, fireworks, do you like it?"

"Hmm... looks better than before."

Although objectively there was not much difference between the two, Ella always felt that any fireworks display she had ever seen could not compare to today's.

"Happy?"

"Hmm, I didn't expect a fireworks display to be such a joyful thing."

This was Ella's heartfelt feeling. Apart from watching the fireworks display with her sister when she was a child, she had never really participated in any other events. Since middle school, she had only taken a quick look at the festival filled with lights from a distance, and then returned home, as if it were another world.

"Before, were you bored?"

"If I have to say, I'm just envious of having someone to watch the fireworks display with."

"lonely?"

Walking alone in a bustling festival, anyone would feel lonely. Although she felt embarrassed, Ella admitted it honestly.

"Well, I was looking forward to joining others at a fireworks display and wandering around the lively festival together, but it seems I can't do that, huh?"

While speaking, Ella felt that Eve seemed to be doing some small movements. When Ella looked over, she found that Eve was constantly pointing her fingers at her face, as if to emphasize the fact that Ella was now with her.

Ella couldn't help but smile at Eve's action. She pretended not to understand and sighed. However, Eve realized that this was Ella's prank and puffed up her cheeks in anger.

"cunning."

"Hahaha, yes, I feel very happy now that Eve is by my side."

"……Me too."

The scene fell into a temporary silence, and the two people sitting on the deserted seawall looked up at the fireworks in the sky.

Bang bang bang.

The largest fireworks group so far bloomed one after another, and the flashing lights illuminated two delicate faces that were enough to put the moon to shame. As if they had lost the concept of time, Ella and Eve stared at the fireworks in a trance.

Suddenly, Ella, who was staring blankly at the fireworks, spoke.

"Eve is going back the day after tomorrow... I don't want her to go back, but that's not possible."

"Yes, resurrection magic."

Eve nodded seriously.

"Why on earth did Eve accept the resurrection magic and become a human?"

"Want to know?"

"Isn't that only natural?"

Hearing this, Eve turned to face Ella with an expressionless face.

"Then...close your eyes."

"Closing your eyes? Does it have anything to do with wanting to become human?"

"Do as you say."

"……so?"

Ella closed her eyes timidly, her eyelashes wet by water droplets trembling slightly. Seeing this, a subtle smile appeared on Eve's emotionless face.

"That--"

“You’re not done yet—huh?!”

Although it was just a light touch, Ella could clearly feel the cool touch on her forehead and nose, just like Eve kissed her.

Subconsciously, Ella opened her eyes.

What came into view was Eve's beautiful face and her undisguised smile. As if she had anticipated Ella's panic, Eve spoke in a more serious tone than ever before.

"Demon Lord Eleraya Not Mistitin, you have accepted the marriage proposal of Saint Eve Not Mistitin of the Enstanit Church. Under the watchful eye of the gods, Eve will serve as your guardian. No matter what you face, she will accompany you until the moment your soul is extinguished."

Eve spoke a long sentence in one breath, which was longer than ever before. Without waiting for Ella to speak, she continued to add.

"Because only human bodies have warmth, the undead are not qualified to grant you happiness, so resurrection magic is needed."

“Uh… uh, eh? Wait… wait a minute! An engagement?!”

Without controlling the volume at all, Ella's voice was so loud that it echoed off the surrounding reefs.

But the only response she got was Eve's cunning look.

"Yes, an engagement."

"Huh? That was a marriage ceremony?!"

“Church Habit.”

He had spoken such a long sentence before, but now he immediately returned to the original phrase.

Not paying attention to this, Ella waved her hands frantically.

"No, no, no, even if it's a church custom... And after all, Eve is a woman, right? It's impossible—"

"Aila, are you annoying?"

A pitiful look of grievance appeared on Eve's face.

"That's a tricky question!"

"Yeah, I'm very happy."

"I'm not happy at all!"

Of course, it would be a lie to say that I wasn’t happy, but inside I was more panicked and at a loss.

Eve patted her chest lightly.

"Then you don't have to worry."

"What are you worried about?!"

"Sh ...

Extending her index finger to make a silence gesture, Eve motioned Ella to look at the fireworks blooming on the distant island. Just like the sun setting on the ground, the fireworks flashed by in an instant and dyed the entire night sky into daytime. The grand appearance even surpassed the brilliance of the moon. Against the backdrop of countless fireworks around, the entire festival reached a climax.

"It's great to meet Ella."

Putting her hand over Ella's cushioned hand, Eve turned around and smiled at Ella under the illumination of the fireworks.

Finally, the long, long summer came to an end.

End of Volume 10

postscript

Ahem, time for the postscript again. Looking back, this volume seems ridiculously long. Let me first check how many words there are (checking). Hmm... this volume is a whopping 310,000 words! That's 40,000 more than the 270,000 words in the previous Eve volume. I'm really good at writing nonsense. No, I'm writing about daily life, so that's why it looks so nonsense, hmm.

Actually, originally, there wasn't a volume like this. It was supposed to just briefly touch on the small plot happening in the Eastern Demon Tribe, and then move on to the Elf Territory. But around last year, I suddenly had the idea of writing about a minor character in the Demon Tribe who wanted to rebel. I played around with it for a while, and it surprisingly seemed interesting, so I decided to develop it. I originally intended it as a short side story after the series was finished, but ultimately felt that the Eastern Demon Tribe's story deserved a separate volume, and so what you see now is what we have.

As mentioned in the last postscript, because I got the bonus for being the first on the list at the end of the month, I arranged two illustrations. Although they were both drawn by the same artist, I always felt that the style changed abruptly. It was a pity that I didn't arrange an illustration for Eve in the end. Well, the illustrations may just be my self-entertainment, so I won't mention it.

This volume is titled "The Protagonists' Day Off." I saw a comment a while ago where someone said, "I don't feel like I'm resting at all" (I guess that's what they meant!), even though I definitely feel like I'm resting! It feels like I haven't done anything at all. While the story continues on a daily basis, it still needs a little bit of a twist to propel it forward. As for the plot, it's just foreshadowing and won't be mentioned anytime soon. Here's a spoiler that won't really count: all the plots will be easily defeated, so don't worry.

In addition, regarding the outlook for the next volume, the stage of the eleventh volume will be the kingdoms and the elf leader Malbrune. The tentative title of the volume is "The Mage of Broken Army". Although the name is powerful, it is not actually about war. It is just named after a plot that I particularly like since the outline was set. As for who this mage is, we will keep it secret for now.

As for the recent problems with the website, the website has recently placed advertisements in many books, saying that it will increase the author's income, but in fact I don't feel that at all. Simply put, there may be a problem with the website recently. I hope it will get better. So far, there will be no advertisements when you recharge VIP or subscribe to chapters with heavy stones. Although the website’s announcement says that authors can actively apply to cancel advertisements, it is estimated that there will be various problems. Yomi doesn’t dare to be the first person to try it (cowardly.jpg), but if an author does this and there is no problem, Yomi will also apply to cancel advertisements to give readers a better reading experience.

Well, it’s time to end the postscript and move on to the customary thank you segment.

Thanks to editor Tia for her support and suggestions on the plot, and to teacher Cc Carrot Seed for her character design and illustrations. This volume includes two illustrations and a redesign of Iris's character, which is fantastic.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has read this far and supported Ella. Without your help, I wouldn't be where I am today (looking back, it's already two million words, and I never imagined I could write so much). Thank you so much! _(:з」∠)_

See you in the next volume, Pojun’s Magician.

Short Story: Tila's Wish

*The following is from the perspective of "Little Maid Tila".

------------------------------

On the morning of October 25, 6186, in the inner circle of the Holy Academy

So hot.

My older sisters had suffered from this disease before. They had high fever for several days and could not get out of bed. They coughed up blood and eventually their bodies turned black and they died.

When I was still able to walk, my owner told me I had the same disease as my sisters, and then I was sent to this cold, dark room. Will I turn black and die like my sisters? If I had behaved better in the last exhibition, would I have been bought by a new owner by now?

At least I won’t be hungry anymore.

But I have neither the strength nor the plumpness of the older sisters. Even if my master lowers my price to two copper coins, no one is willing to buy me. Everyone says that one more person means one more mouth to feed. However, as long as I can be full, I will nod without hesitation even if they ask me to work like a slave. At least it is better than waiting to die here.

My chest feels so hot, I can hardly hold on any longer. Every time I cough, my chest hurts so much that I want to cry. I heard that you can't feel pain before you die, but now it seems my sisters were lying to me.

How's the person in the bed next to you?

When I was sent into the room, I saw three children about my age inside. There were no boys, but this was understandable. Boys can do hard work when they are very young, and rich families are more willing to buy boys, not to mention that I am a hated demon.

I wanted to look at my companion on the bed next to me, but my eyes had been shut for a long time... Maybe it was because last night, the sun couldn't be seen here, I can't remember clearly, my eyes haven't had the strength to open for a long time. The master must have given up on us, my sisters were the same at that time, but I still hope that I can drink a sip of water before dying.

Squeak.

There was a sound in my ears.

The girls were talking to the host. Could it be that another sick person was sent away?

"Well, Ms. Ella, the temples also need funds to operate. Providing free treatment to non-temple personnel like this not only steals the temple's business, but also does not bring a positive image to the temple. Therefore, most temples do not want to see this..."

"Is there such a thing? I understand, but it still seems a little strange. Well, never mind, we'll talk about this later. Anyway, Hana-san, don't worry. Lotte and I won't tell anyone about this. As for the treatment method—can you let me try Fukagan first?"

Judging from her voice, the girl was older than me, but probably not yet an adult. However, her voice was very nice, not small and hoarse like ours, and she had a health that slaves didn't have. I had only heard this kind of voice from the cage when I was on display, and later I learned from my sisters that it should be called "healthy".

Suddenly, when I was half asleep, I smelled a very fragrant scent and felt a very soft and warm touch on my head. It was a hand, which reminded me of the mother's touch in the story.

It turns out that being patted on the head is such a reassuring feeling. I always feel that if this can continue, even if I am not allowed to drink water, I can die without any regrets.

"Blessing of Vitality, Blessing of Warmth."

The sound right next to my ear made me want to open my eyes to see what was happening, but soon, I felt a warmth outside my body, as if I was soaking in warm water. I heard that this was something only rich people could enjoy, but I think this should be the feeling.

It's so warm that it makes you want to sleep.

I can't remember what happened after that.

When I woke up, I found myself lying in an unfamiliar place.

The bed was covered with something very soft and thick, without the prickly feeling of a straw mat. The sun shone into my eyes through the incredibly large windows. There was no dust in the room, and even the pillow had a fragrance that made you want to bury your nose in it and inhale a few more breaths. If you smelled carefully, you could even smell a very faint scent on me.

Is this hell? But why is hell better than the world above? I want to live here forever.

When I came to my senses, I found that there were three other children lying in bed in hell. They were one year younger than me, so I must be the older sister.

I was very hungry and there was no one in the room, so I had to take the other three children to explore the ridiculously large house. When my legs could hardly walk anymore, I finally smelled the scent of food - it smelled so good.

My body seemed to be full of strength again. We followed the fragrance and soon heard voices. It seemed that the voice was the girl who had touched my head like a mother before.

Is it possible that this place is not hell and we are still alive?

I pinched my face; it hurt. We were still alive, and I discovered it too late.
