The North American Gourmet Demon Handbook
Author: Leviathan
Summary:
Synopsis: In a different world, America, a "cannibal" unexpectedly arrives and begins his journey in a foreign land.
Li Shanze, the "cannibal" from modern China, knows nothing about the so-called "modern civilization", but unexpectedly wakes up on the streets of China.
As soon as he arrived, he immediately aroused high vigilance and was wanted. He was also targeted by the devil and forced to sign a soul contract.
From the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, from the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachian Mountains, from the high-rise buildings in the center of the empire to the isolated frontier towns covered with overgrown weeds, to the exotic customs of the colonies, Li Shanze's journey is full of charm and adventure.
For Li Shanze, who has just arrived in this place, the most urgent task is still to avoid the police pursuit, clear his identity, and get rid of the devil's shackles and curse.
An FBI identity is a good cover...
What? You asked the FBI if it means Female Body Insert?

001 Hitchhiking
The sky was like a vast piece of black velvet, dotted with diamond-like stars. The moon loomed among the clouds, casting a faint silver light. The road was lined with endless darkness, with only a few dim streetlights occasionally standing silently in the night, like lonely guardians.
At midnight, the whole of America seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep.
The main artery of this country on wheels, Highway 80, also fell asleep, its pulse becoming calm and slow.
Li Shanze drove a classic Ford F150 pickup truck along Highway 80 at lightning speed.
Li Shanze's gaze penetrated the front windshield and stared at Highway 80, which stretched straight from the City of Angels to the Big Apple. The headlights illuminated the road ahead, forming two bright beams of light.
Inside the car, the dashboard emitted a soft blue light, and the radio was playing a late-night radio program. The male host's magnetic voice echoed in the car, mixed with many classic country music.
Li Shanze hummed softly along with the music on the car radio: "5 hundred miles hundred miles hundred miles..."
At the same time, his left hand gently beat the rhythm on the steering wheel to the beat of the music.
In this empty night, only the roaring sound of the engine and the dull and unchanging friction between the tires and the road echoed with Li Shanze's voice.
Li Shanze even looked at the lady sitting in the passenger seat with a smile, who had just hitchhiked with him not long ago, and invited her to join the chorus in a very gentlemanly manner.
However, for the lady sitting in the passenger seat, she would rather appreciate the sacred music of the tires and engines than Li Shanze's hoarse voice that even sings "500 Miles" out of tune.
The lady forced a smile at Li Shanze. She felt that smiling at such a devilish voice had exhausted all her self-control in her life. She was afraid that she would lose control of her emotions and burst into cursing as soon as she opened her mouth.
Seeing that the hot and pretty female passenger did not want to join the happy chorus, Li Shanze did not care. He immediately turned his attention back to the straight and seemingly endless Highway 80.
This made the brown-haired woman breathe a sigh of relief, but then endless complaints flooded her mind.
A man with such refined clothing, such handsome features, and such a gentle, magnetic voice, could sing so horribly! What on earth is wrong with this world? How could someone with such an awful voice exist? Was his voice cursed by the devil?
If the woman who had taken the ride before still had some romantic thoughts in her mind after seeing Li Shanze's face, now this terrifying singing voice drove away all her distracting thoughts - this was an effect that even the ring on Li Shanze's left ring finger had never had.
The woman had to try her best to control herself. She forced herself to calm down and focus her attention which had been somewhat distracted by the horrible singing.
On the bright side, at least he wasn't the kind of sex-hungry person who would eat anything, which saved me a lot of trouble.
Even though she thought so, Li Shanze's absurd "5 hundred miles" kept lingering in her ears, still making her spirit on the verge of collapse. She was worried that the car windows would be shattered by this devilish sound.
She clutched her gorgeous red fur with one hand, and even subconsciously touched the Glock 26 at her waist with the other hand.
However, this small but powerful pistol could not provide her with the sense of security she once had. Li Shanze's destructive voice gave her a splitting headache, and she couldn't even pull out the gun and shoot at the source of the noise.
For the woman, the short 2 minutes and 49 seconds of the song seemed as long as a century. After such torture, Li Shanze's devilish loud voice finally stopped.
The woman finally breathed a sigh of relief and said before the radio DJ could speak: "Sir, sir, can you switch to CBS News Radio? I want to hear what happened today."
Li Shanze remained quite gentlemanly. He happily changed the channel: "No problem, ma'am."
This man is good in every way except his singing voice. The woman rolled her eyes inwardly, feeling relieved that she had found an excuse at the last minute.
The previous news report had just finished: "...the black-eyed ogre is still at large, and Illinois state troopers say it may have fled into Indiana."
"Has this horrible cannibal still been caught? The American police are shameless tax thieves!"
As if eager to prove that she really wanted to hear the news, the woman unceremoniously criticized the American police. In reality, only she knew that her words were quite insincere.
"Ha, an ogre." Li Shanze shrugged with amusement. "This is the first time I've heard of such a strange thing in America, a land thriving with life and flourishing with everything."
The woman was feeling sorry for her red fur coat - she had almost lost control after hearing Li Shanze's singing, and had pulled out several hairs.
So she just nodded absentmindedly and casually replied, "Isn't it? But I heard that this ogre has eaten many people along the way, from San Francisco to Salt Lake City to Chicago, just like a food tour along Highway 80."
However, this statement made Li Shanze burst into laughter: "Hahahaha, your statement is very interesting."
However, the next sound coming from the car radio made the air freeze.
"Cleveland police say Charlie Butner has not yet been apprehended. She possessed a Glock 26 pistol and was seen wearing a red fur coat and had brown hair when she fled. Anyone with information is urged to contact police."
"Be careful, this woman is extremely vicious and suspected to have a witch background. Please do not attempt to capture her alone."
"I must emphasize again, this woman is extremely vicious and suspected to have a witch background. Please do not attempt to capture her alone."
There was a click.
Li Shanze turned off the car radio and continued looking towards the road with a smile, seemingly unaware of the gun that was pointed at his head.
Li Shanze jokingly said, as if chatting casually, "No wonder you, as a woman, dare to hitchhike in the middle of the night. So you are a witch, Ms. Butner. You really can't judge a person by appearance."
On the contrary, the brown-haired Charlie Butner looked even more nervous. Her hand holding the gun was shaking slightly, as if she wanted to pull the trigger to kill the person, but pulling the trigger seemed extremely difficult for her.
"I didn't kill anyone! I was framed!" Charlie Butner's hands trembled, but her voice was firm. "Since you are the owner of an investment group, and you are so young and promising, please continue driving."
"Yet you behave like a habitual killer, ma'am." Li Shanze raised his eyebrows.
Then, the man holding the steering wheel continued slowly, "If I were you, Ms. Butner, I wouldn't pull the trigger. You and I both know that as a witch, you can't control any large machinery, including vehicles. Besides, I'm afraid you don't have the strength to pull the trigger, right?"
Li Shanze's words made Xia Li feel depressed. The wizard's inability to operate complex precision machinery was like a curse from his blood.
It is as if it is some kind of equivalent exchange. As long as you embrace the mystery of classics, you will not be able to get close to modern science.
Even though she only knows a little bit of magic and can only be considered a wizard apprentice, she has paid the same price. She cannot drive, cannot use a mobile phone, and seems to have nothing to do with modern civilization.
However, the pistol, which had a very simple mechanical structure, was not included in this category. However, Charlie's hands were shaking so much that she even had difficulty maintaining the stability of the barrel.
What the hell had he done to me? Why couldn't I even lift the gun, couldn't even pull the trigger?
It was that horrible singing voice, it must be that horrible singing voice! Could he be a policeman?
Charlie thought anxiously.
As if he had sensed Xia Li's psychological fluctuations, Li Shanze smiled with confidence.
Especially when Xia Li reluctantly put down the gun in her hand, Li Shanze's smile became even brighter.
But Li Shanze's smile didn't last long. As Xia Li took out a small wooden stick from the fur, which was still flashing with magical light, the smile on Li Shanze's face gradually faded.
Xia Li was glad that her little trick had finally succeeded in scaring Li Shanze. She felt that even on this cold winter night, the fur on her body seemed a little too heavy, causing her back to be covered with sweat.
No, I must not let this dangerous man realize my weakness, I must not let him realize that I can only use a few small tricks.
Xia Li had already adjusted Li Shanze's image from "handsome" to "dangerous" in her mind.
Charlie tried to remain calm and acted with the slight pride of a woman who had the upper hand.
She raised her voice and said, "Don't judge a book by its cover. I'm giving you this as it is, sir. I thought the man who dared to pick up passengers in a Ford Raptor in the middle of the night would be a lustful white trash redneck, but I didn't expect it to be a man in a windbreaker with black hair and black eyes... black hair and black eyes..."
The witch looked at Li Shanze carefully. The more she looked, the more she felt something was wrong. Then she froze. She even mechanically repeated the words "black hair, black eyes."
"Ah, you may have realized my true identity, Miss Witch. Just as you, who are so smart, have realized, I am the black-haired, black-eyed ogre who is on the run and wearing a black windbreaker and a black bowler hat, as mentioned in the broadcast." Li Shanze said with a graceful smile.
If it weren't for the fact that all the features of the man in front of her matched the description of the "cannibal" that had caused a sensation across the United States in recent days, Charlie would have found it hard to believe that such a handsome man could be an cannibal.
But now, Li Shanze's elegant smile looked to Xia Li like an ogre opening his bloody mouth.
What I met was not a sex-hungry ghost, but a real hungry ghost!
The poor witch was so frightened that she fainted.
Author's Note: The second half of the year has been incredibly fraught with events. I had originally planned to start writing a new book at the end of August, after completing Black Monkey, but unexpectedly, it took nearly four months of delays before I even started.
But I finally freed up my hands before the New Year and started writing.
I am just barely able to present this tribute on this auspicious day. I welcome all old readers to read it and leave valuable suggestions.
002 Inspection
It was already dawn, and snowflakes began to fall from the sky at some point. Li Shanze continued driving eastward along the seemingly endless forest.
More than half of Pennsylvania's land is covered in forest, and the Raptor F150 is now singing and roaring across this land.
Suddenly, as if inspired by the engine's song, Li Shanze, who had been silent until then, began to sing in his native dialect: "The mountains and rivers only linger in my dreams, I haven't been close to my motherland for many years~"
The singing is heart-wrenching and out of tune.
At this moment, Charlie Butner in the passenger seat let out a terrified protest: "Mmmmm!"
At the same time, she struggled and twisted hard in the passenger seat. However, bound by the ropes, her struggles were like a caterpillar in winter—almost motionless.
"Oh? You're awake, Miss Witch. Did you sleep well last night?" Li Shanze turned his head when he heard the voice, still with his elegant smile.
"Mmmm!" Xia Li was startled at first. She tried to turn the corner a little and glared at Li Shanze out of the corner of her eye.
Although the anger in Xia Li's eyes seemed to be able to burn everything in the world, it was like a stone falling into the ocean when faced with Li Shanze's shamelessness.
Li Shanze completely ignored Xia Li's anger, and instead took out a Snickers bar, casually tore open the plastic wrapping, and took a bite.
Although her mouth was stuffed tightly with a piece of rag, the tired and hungry witch still began to secrete saliva as Li Shanze chewed.
Li Shanze chewed the Snickers slowly, then opened a bottle of water and washed it down.
[Damn it, what on earth is he trying to do? Seeing me wake up, this man actually eats first! He acts so relaxed, like a cat teasing a mouse!]
Miss Witch regarded Li Shanze's slow movements as some kind of negotiation strategy, or some kind of psychological offensive, and couldn't help but become alert.
But Charlie Butner was wrong about Li Shanze. It was just the first time for Li Shanze to eat American industrial desserts. He was sick of the excessive sugar and had to drink mineral water to wash down the Snickers.
Li Shanze casually placed the unpalatable Snickers bar he'd taken a bite of on the center console. He then said to Charlie, "Look, Ms. Butner, people have many misunderstandings about me. I'm not some cannibal."
"Hmm!" Charlie wanted to snort to show her disdain, but because her mouth was stuffed and couldn't close, the sound she made sounded more like agreement.
Li Shanze beamed at the woman's "approval" from the passenger seat. "I'm glad you understand, ma'am. The fact that you're still sitting in my passenger seat and not breaking into pieces and lying in my stomach is proof of that. Oh! Damn it!"
Li Shanze suddenly pulled the handbrake and narrowly avoided a wild deer that had the audacity to cross the road.
The tires rubbed violently on the snowy road, making a teeth-grinding squeaking sound.
Charlie thought that this noise was a thousand times more pleasant than the singing voice of the man driving the car.
In the sudden braking, Li Shanze narrowly avoided hitting the steering wheel, but his hand did cause the car horn to beep.
But Charlie, who was tied up tightly, did not have this problem. She was firmly fixed to the seat by the seat belt and could not move even if the car braked suddenly.
"Ma'am, tell me, shouldn't I have stepped on the brakes so that I could have roasted venison?"
Li Shanze casually teased the departing deer and continued the previous topic, "Since you say you've been wronged, then I'm sure you understand that I've been wronged as well, right? Please also understand that out of respect for you, the gun-wielding witch, I had to tie you up tightly for self-protection."
"I don't understand you! Your singing voice is so strange, and once you finish singing, you can't use any spells at all. How can I harm you?"
Xia Li almost rolled her eyes. She wanted to taunt the man sitting in the driver's seat with her eyes, but hunger made her keep her eyes fixed on the Snickers that Li Shanze threw down.
"If you agree not to embarrass me—neither with your pistol nor with your magic—I can let you go. I'll take you to your destination, and then we can go our separate ways. How about that?"
Oh, if you were so kind, then there was no need for you to tie me up so tightly after I passed out.
When you realize I'm awake and using magic to secretly untie the ropes, there's no need to sing your horrible song!
Charlie thought with disdain. In her opinion, this man must have other intentions.
"Well, it seems you are not so willing." As if sensing what Xia Li was thinking, Li Shanze's voice sounded at the right time, startling Xia Li.
"How about this, let's both take a step back. If you agree not to recite the spell, just blink three times, ma'am. I can take the cloth out of your mouth first, so that we can at least communicate with words." Li Shanze made another proposal with a pleasant face.
The situation was stronger than the person. Although she couldn't understand the man's motives, Charlie was now completely at a disadvantage. She had to blink her eyes three times in a row.
"Very good, then the negotiation is established." Li Shanze reached out and pulled out the handkerchief that he had balled up and stuffed in Xia Li's mouth, then threw it next to the Snickers.
My silk handkerchief! I keep it close to my body! Didn't this bastard search it out of me?
