'That's obviously just her being a tsundere and too shy to say what she cares about directly,' Yun Yi thought, believing that the system was the one who didn't understand at all.

And what about the suspension bridge effect?

This thing would actually be useful to Swire, a police officer who is constantly in the thick of things.

Yun Yi scoffed at this.

Impossible, absolutely impossible!

[Main theme: Tsundere isn't like this]

[This is clearly a gold digger – Swire wasn't sure if she was being presumptuous or abrupt with the subject – her cautiousness must be because she'd fallen for him and cared about the distance between them.]

[Furthermore, even if it's a tsundere, the main character should think about why they want to be tsundere in the first place.]

The system clicked its tongue: [Forget it, there's no reasoning with the main body. If the main body doesn't believe this system, just wait and see. Sooner or later, the main body will be dragged into a kiss.]

A kiss?

Yun Yi glanced at Shi Huaiya's moist, thin lips. It wasn't impossible, but it was unlikely.

'You're the one who's truly unreasonable!'

'When someone is attracted to you, the person they're attracted to will clearly sense it. Since I didn't sense anything, it means Swire definitely wasn't attracted to me.'

Yun Yi tried to persuade him, "Give up. There's something wrong with your program. Check it quickly; I still need my points."

[...] The system didn't want to speak, but it couldn't ignore Yun Yi's words.

So He resigned himself to the situation, saying, "[This system's check is useless; this system cannot modify the core program, regardless of whether it has a problem or not]."

It's true what they say, "If we don't see eye to eye, even half a sentence is too much."

Yun Yi took a deep breath, abruptly dismissed the system panel, and ignored the system that had become noisy in her eyes.

The conversation with the system took very little time.

Swire was still flushed from the words of concern she had just spoken. She shyly adjusted her collar and, seeing Yun Yi looking over, instinctively met her gaze with her slightly watery eyes.

During their eye contact, Yun Yi gratefully accepted Swire's earlier words of comfort and said, "Thank you! I will make good use of these points."

As for the points for stickers?

Yun Yi sincerely believed that the system was malfunctioning.

So let's wait until the system is willing to think outside the box and do a proper self-check before making any decisions.

Swire had no idea about this incident. She opened her mouth, suppressing the heat on her face, and put on a nonchalant expression: "Giving you points is the same as giving myself points. There's nothing to thank me for."

As she spoke, Swire exhaled a strange breath of hot air from her chest, brushed a stray strand of hair behind her finger, and calmed herself down, saying, "Instead of doing things that we'll have to do sooner or later, let's hurry up and get to the Guard Bureau, or Old Chen will start yelling at us again."

Upon hearing this, Yun Yi recalled Chen's irritable words in the previous communication and felt quite agreeable: "Why don't we just use the Nirvana?"

“It cannot be openly yours for the time being,” Swire refused.

She tightened the buttons on the uniform draped over her shoulders and continued leading the way: "Walking is the best option."

"Remember when Old Chen asks why I ran from the crime scene to the coffee shop, and he asks you, just say that your contract will teleport me to your side when I'm about to die."

"Understood." Yun Yi nodded and followed Shi Huaiya, whose pace was becoming increasingly hurried.

As they hurried along, the two left the coffee shop and stepped onto the street.

The thud of Swire's heels hitting the ground was immediately drowned out by the bustling noise of the street.

She walked in front of Yun Yi, looking ahead expressionlessly. Her imposing aura and her somber black uniform caused the crowd of pedestrians to spontaneously make way for the two of them.

And so, the two arrived at the entrance of the Guard Bureau without any trouble.

Shi Huaiya stopped in front of the door, tidying herself up while summoning the subsystem, quickly typing a few lines of text, and sending them to Yun Yi.

Yun Yi's eyes brightened slightly, reflecting the system panel filled with words, but invisible to others:

"I asked you to say that not to hide it from Lao Chen—we still have many things that we need her help with."

“There’s a mole in the Guard Bureau. As long as you’re out of sight, keep a wary eye on Chen and act unfamiliar with him, follow me around the whole time, and try to act in a way that shows trust and intimacy towards me.”

"Once inside, find an opportunity for the Nirvana to throw that old man into the back door of the Guard Bureau. The back door is located at the opposite side of the main entrance of the Guard Bureau."

"Even if there are unexpected situations, don't let yourself be alone—at present, apart from Chen, Hoshiguma, and me, no one can be trusted. But, if you encounter a petite and taciturn ninja girl with white hair and a high ponytail, you can judge for yourself whether she is trustworthy or not."

"If you're still alone, immediately return to the Nirvana's cockpit and come find me invisibly."

"If someone tries to hurt you, don't hesitate, fight back."

Swire straightened her already neat clothes, tapped her heels on the ground, and looked at Yun Yi with a questioning gaze: Have you finished looking?

finish watching.

Yun Yi nodded.

"Let's go, let's see what tricks Old Chen is up to." Swire exhaled a breath of stale air and said with an unfriendly look, leading Yun Yi into the Guard Bureau.

Outside the shared office, Chen stood with his eyes closed and arms crossed, leaning against the door, looking like he had been waiting for a long time.

As soon as Shi Huaiya and Yun Yi approached, Chen keenly opened his slightly tired eyes.

As he looked up, his deep red eyes quickly regained their focus, piercing the two of them sharply.

"Why is it just you? Where's Hoshiguma?" Swire glared back at her without any politeness.

Yun Yi, standing behind her, nodded politely but warily to Chen, taking it as a greeting, and made no further move.

"Speak properly, don't yell in the Guard Bureau." Chen stood up straight, her well-proportioned figure, agile posture, and capable temperament making her look heroic and exceptionally... intimidating.

"Heh, you'd better explain the distress signal to me first." Swire scoffed, pushed aside Chen who was blocking her way, and strode into the office.

Halfway there, she stopped and turned around: "You still haven't answered me, where's Hoshiguma?"

"We're interrogating Penguin Logistics," Chen replied after taking a deep breath, then stepped aside to let Yun Yi in as well.

Yunyi adhered to the principle of doing more and saying less if he didn't understand, and obediently followed Shi Huaiya.

Chen closed the office door behind her, then quickly walked past her and Swire, arriving first at the table facing the door. He casually took out the terminal from his pocket and placed it on the table.

Swire glanced at it, then pressed on, uninterested, "What a coincidence? You did this on purpose, didn't you? You want to talk to me alone?"

“No, Penguin Logistics just got caught causing trouble during deliveries, as usual.” Chen’s eyes flickered, and he retorted with a slight emphasis.

Penguin Logistics?

Yun Yi tilted his head, only then realizing that the name sounded strangely familiar.

Volume 2: Fireworks at Longmen - Chapter 39: Is Chen's acting a bit lacking?

It seems to be one of the factions that Rhodes Island operators are involved with?

No one knew the confusion that flashed through Yun Yi's mind.

After refuting her, Chen slammed his hand on the table and said, "I'll tell you a *Longmen curse word* privately!"

"What did you say? Fine!" Chen pressed down on Chi Xiao with one hand and tugged at his collar with the other, his slightly cool voice leaving no room for argument:

"Tell me, why are you, someone who should have been seriously injured, standing perfectly fine in front of me? Why didn't you wait where you were after sending out the distress signal, but instead ran off to meet your lover?"

As he spoke, Chen glanced at Yun Yi with a deep look in his eyes.

Yun Yi gave an innocent look, but under Chen Yi's serious and stern expression, he looked away.

"Tsk, what does this have to do with her? And do I need to say all this? You're the one who needs to explain yourself!" Swire impatiently pressed again, "What were you doing when the distress signal was sent to you?!"

"Of course we're dealing with high-risk crimes!" Chen Lu gave him a look that said, "What nonsense are you spouting?" and then steered the conversation back to Yun Yi: "Why are you making her stand here if we're talking business?"

Despite saying that, Chen made no move to drive them away; it seemed more like he was using the opportunity to emphasize something.

Swire disagreed with her point of view, retorting, "Is this a serious matter? I'm just asking why my superior, who was supposed to save me and fulfill his duties, was 'so late'!"

"An attack that directly involved all of the Guard Bureau's elite police force—are you satisfied with this answer?" Chen said angrily.

As she spoke, her spirited eyebrows rose slightly with the movement of her chin, and her beautifully shaped dragon horns tilted back, almost poking the curtains hanging from the ceiling, making her look extremely ferocious.

That's way too much!

Yunyi silently commented on Chen's acting skills.

But can such a high-intensity attack really hold off Chen and Hoshiguma?

Yun Yi touched the collar and remained silent for a moment. Had something like this really happened in Longmen? (This didn't happen in this timeline.)

That was dangerous. I should have known better than to skip the plot before time travel; at least then I would have been mentally prepared and had more accurate information.

While Yun Yi was lost in thought, the conversation between Long Hu continued.

"You mean, the moment I called for help, you were subjected to an unprecedented attack?" A thoughtful look flashed across Swire's eyes, and she gave a cold snort, "Have you found out who launched the attack?"

“I just finished meeting with that company—Mr. Wei Yanwu.” Chen did not deny Swire’s guess, nor did he say whether he had found out or not. Instead, he gave some jumpy information: “As soon as I got back, someone reported that you were in the coffee shop. Before that, your communications were ‘always’ unreachable.”

This name sounds like it belongs to the ruler of this city?

Yun Yi continued to wander in his thoughts.

In the distance, the collar, under her distracted control, had already separated into two parts, silently throwing the old man out of the cockpit through the back door of the Guard Bureau.

Because of his invisibility, he looked like an unconscious old man who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

"The Swire Group had already come to demand your release before this," Chen continued, "Did you contact your family before communicating with the bureau?"

"How—" Swire was about to answer when a knock on the door interrupted her.

The three people in the office frowned and looked towards the door.

One of the male officers, surnamed Pelosi, stiffened under the intense gazes of the three men. He silently withdrew his hand from the door and said loudly through the glass, "Inspector Chen, Miss Swire, Sister Hoshiguma wants you to come over!"

Chen Yangmei stepped forward and opened the door, the dragon horns that protruded gleaming coldly in the cold light of the Guard Bureau corridor.

She looked down at the officer and asked, "Did she say what it was about?"

"Yes, yes!" The officer took a step back nervously, his broom-like tail stiffening uneasily behind him, but he still managed to keep himself composed and clearly convey Hoshiguma's words: "A new person has joined Penguin Logistics!"

"I'll go now. Go back and report," Chen ordered coldly.

The officer immediately breathed a sigh of relief, nodded repeatedly, and saluted and said yes as soon as she finished speaking. When Chen signaled that he could leave, he ran away in a rather disheveled manner.

"Recently... there have been new faces?" Swire murmured as she watched the whole thing from behind Chen.

"No." As a dragon, Chen's powerful physique made her hearing even better than Swire's, and she immediately answered Swire's question from a distance.

"No?" Swire asked, resting her chin on her hand in confusion.

Her gaze drifted to Pelo, who was walking away, overly afraid of Chen, and she gestured for Chen to explain.

"This guy was just transferred from another place to work under Hoshiguma. He's never seen me before." Chen touched his horn, looking slightly troubled, and said, "Some people are just naturally timid, that's normal."

In Longmen, or rather in Yan Kingdom, the dragon race has been sanctified and legendary through generations of myths, stories, and long-term rule, giving other races a natural sense of awe towards dragons.

Whether it's Wei Yanwu or Chen, often they don't need to do anything; just by looking at their appearance, others inexplicably begin to feel awe and distance themselves from them.

Wei Yanwu was pleased with this outcome.

Chen, however, was not comfortable with this.

She hopes that people will trust and respect her because of her abilities, so that she can work better at Lungmen.

The alienation and exclusion caused by her race only led to complications in her work.

Fortunately, after more than a year of Chen's efforts, at least the people in the Guard Bureau no longer cared about her race. Their impression of her was more that of a reliable colleague and superior, and they no longer had to work so hard to get things done together.

But that's it. Once you leave the Guard Bureau, no, you don't even need to leave.

When Chen meets new people, he returns to square one, once again being inexplicably respected and shunned.

Chen believed that the departing Pelosi was one of the new people who met her, but at least he completed the task assigned to him by Hoshiguma very well, and that was enough.

"It's hard to say," Swire said noncommittally.

She quickly turned her attention back to the news the officer brought: "Penguin Logistics has new employees? That troublesome fallen angel just left not long ago."

"I want to see what kind of troublesome person the Great Emperor has recruited this time." She said this and then called Yun Yi to go with her to find Xing Xiong, completely ignoring Chen.
