Pendragon's Infinity Gauntlet
Page 74
They then went into bookstores, watch shops, craft shops, and so on, just like normal shopping.
After walking for so long, Miss Rin was a little tired, so she led Pendragon and the others to a bench on the street to sit down and recover their strength.
Pendragon carried two paper bags, placed one beside him, near Lily's thigh, and opened the other, scalding hot paper bag.
Wisps of white steam rose from the bag's opening. Pendragon turned to look at Rin and the others, finding them chatting and laughing happily, and then ignored them.
This is a taiyaki that Rin bought for her. Its golden-brown crust and the shape of a small fish make it look like an animal-shaped cake, but you can taste the filling after taking a bite.
The snacks and desserts here seem to really like to have fillings inside. Taiyaki (fish-shaped cakes) are generally said to be filled with red bean paste.
However, due to personal issues, Pendragon had the shopkeeper replace the red bean filling with taro; money really does allow you to do whatever you want.
While resting and chatting on the bench, Rin kept a close eye on her surroundings.
Although there are so many people here that no Servant would dare to attack them so openly, if they could find clues early on, they could avoid being caught off guard and face the enemy gracefully.
Unsure whether an attack would occur or how many people were involved, Rin, lacking reliable information, couldn't discover anything even with her familiars, let alone after only a quick glance.
However, she was somewhat interested in an eyeglasses shop located across the street.
Because Pendragon always wears those glasses and rarely takes them off, Rin is also curious whether Lily would have a scholarly air like her if she wore glasses.
What is rare is always more precious.
"How about it?"
Inside the store, Rin Tohsaka picked out a pair of red-framed non-prescription glasses and put them on her nose. Without even looking in the mirror, she turned around and asked the other two for their opinions.
"I think it's pretty good."
Lily nodded with a smile, displaying a composure different from that of a swordswoman when she wasn't holding a sword.
"Hmm, you seem much more intellectual all of a sudden, Rin."
Pendragon also commented that everyone's temperament is different, and someone like Rin wouldn't change much just because of a piece of jewelry.
"Thank you for the compliment."
Rin smiled happily, and then began to fully utilize her aesthetic sense to choose suitable styles for Lily-chan.
"Let me see... this one should suit Lily quite well."
Rin put the glasses she had chosen on Lily.
"..."
"You'll have to take responsibility for what you're doing, do you understand, Rin?"
Pendragon solemnly warned Rin Tohsaka.
"I think it's great, right, Lily-chan?"
Miss Rin rolled her eyes at Pendragon, dragged Lily to the mirror, and examined her current appearance.
They're both stunningly beautiful anyway, so it doesn't matter.
"Saber, why don't you try a different one?"
Miss Rin seemed somewhat dissatisfied with the style of Pendragon's current glasses, and turned around to browse through the various shelves.
"no need."
Pendragon refused.
"No, please, don't spoil the fun, Saber."
Rin seemed incredibly eager, bustling around the store with great enthusiasm, attracting the attention of all the original customers and staff.
"My glasses are a kind of treasure after all, so I don't need to change them."
Seeing that Rin couldn't be persuaded by ordinary means, Pendragon had no choice but to use the name of a Noble Phantasm to intimidate her.
"real or fake?"
This trick worked! Rin stopped immediately, her beautiful eyes, framed by non-prescription lenses, were as clear as gemstones.
"Glasses are a Noble Phantasm? I can't figure out what they're for. Could they be an item that grants another life?"
"..."
Pendragon looked at the sky with lingering fear. There was nothing unusual. She had almost brought about the apocalypse, number 404.
"No, these eyes are something to suppress my dynamic vision."
"So it was a seal!"
Rin Tohsaka didn't show any disappointment; instead, she seemed quite surprised. Could it be that her Servant had become so powerful that she needed to seal herself away?
"No, it's for relaxing the eyes."
Pendragon pointed out Rin's mistake with a blank expression and pushed them out of the shop.
"By the way, when is lunch? I'm hungry."
Toosaka Rin: “…”
Lily: "..."
If this is a way of changing the subject, then Pendragon's level has reached the level of a lame joke.
"You bastard, you've been eating all along, you just ate the taiyaki I bought, how come you're hungry already? Even a bottomless pit has its limits!"
Once she came to her senses, Rin loudly berated Pendragon, no longer caring about how undignified she was in front of others.
"It's just at the bottom."
P.S.: I'm so sleepy after staying up this long. Goodnight everyone~ I'll be working overtime again tomorrow.
I've caught a cold.
Headache... As usual, I'll write this down. Anyway, after working overtime and taking time off in lieu of work, I'll have six days to slack off during the National Day holiday, so I'll try to make up for it. =_=

Chapter 126 The Phantom Thief Girl
Chapter 126
Pendragon's gaze was calm as he stared at the large bag that Rin Tohsaka was carrying on her shoulder, knowing that it contained today's lunch.
"It is indeed almost lunchtime."
Lily glanced at the time and then said frankly.
"Okay, okay, I get it."
Miss Rin conceded defeat in front of the two, but soon revealed an excited and expectant expression, making a waving gesture with her hands.
"But before lunch, I'd like to have a few clanging sessions!"
Then they went to the baseball stadium.
Pendragon absolutely refused to go out and play with Rin, and sat alone on a chair next to her reading the comics he bought from the bookstore, occasionally glancing at Lily and Rin's battle.
The two were evenly matched, sharing the spotlight.
Rin plays baseball in a standard way, while Lily seems to incorporate swordsmanship into her style. Pendragon sees the shadow of her sword fighting style in her baseball-hitting posture and momentum.
"...?"
Pendragon kept an eye on Rin and Lily's situation while reading, and then—
When did this box of lunch sandwiches go empty? Where did the wide and long box of sandwiches go?
Pendragon pulled his hand back, staring at the breadcrumbs on his fingers that emitted a faint wheat aroma, and paused for a moment.
Then, she casually licked her fingers clean, closed the box, restoring it to the way Rin had left it, and quietly sat a little further away.
Rin Tohsaka and Lily were surprisingly long-lasting. Because their skill levels were similar and they needed to determine a winner, the match remained deadlocked until both of them were quite tired before stopping, long after lunchtime.
Pendragon was somewhat glad he had been so prescient.
"Phew, when my competitive spirit gets the better of me, I forget the situation..."
Rin took out a handkerchief from her bag and wiped the sweat from her forehead while reflecting on her actions.
They didn't go out today just to relax and have fun; they had to reserve enough energy to guard against possible attacks. She and Lily were no longer at their peak.
Fortunately, the main force dealing with the attack was not affected and they watched the whole thing unfold as bystanders.
Was this also part of your calculations, Saber?
"Thank you."
Rin took the water Lily handed her and started discussing her hitting techniques with her.
"Treat the bat like a sword, the incoming baseball like an attack from your opponent, and then just let things take their course."
"..."
Like mud! Unrivaled!
“Saber, let’s go to the park for lunch next.”
Even Miss Rin herself was hungry, but this guy hadn't complained of being hungry yet.
Rin didn't pay much attention, assuming that Saber had eaten enough on the way and wasn't hungry yet.
Oh, that's really terrible, old man.
"Can we go to a restaurant?"
Pendragon asked seriously, his face expressionless.
"Of course not! I've made thorough preparations."
Rin glared at her, picked up the bag containing lunch and slung it over her shoulder. The aching muscles in her arms didn't make her notice that the weight had been reduced considerably.
"..."
Noticing that "Saber's" ahoge (cowlick) suddenly drooped, Rin Tohsaka, unaware of what was happening, felt a little soft-hearted and her tone softened.
"Let's eat this first and then go to a restaurant."
Miss Rin weighed the empty bag in Pendragon, which contained only the box and picnic blanket, and finally realized the problem.
"..."
Looking at her Servant with suspicion, Rin Tohsaka took out the large box containing a fruit platter and sandwiches and opened it—
It's perfectly reasonable that there's nothing inside.
Turn the box over and pour it on the ground; it's completely clean, not even a crumb remains.
"Saber, could you explain what happened here when we hit the ball? I'd really like to know."
Rin Tohsaka smiled so hard her eyes narrowed, her crescent-shaped eyes looking at Pendragon.
This guy's smile is kind of scary...
Lily was secretly alarmed but remained silent.
"While you were playing, a phantom thief girl wearing a purple mask passed by. Perhaps she stole it secretly."
Pendragon remained expressionless and spoke in the same words as usual, which surprised Lily.
It's really impressive that you can remain so calm while lying.
Lily felt like she had become a backdrop to them, experiencing various reactions of surprise, alertness, and blankness.
"Oh—is that so?"
Miss Rin drawled out her words, pinching Pendragon's adorable cheek with two fingers and stretching it out...
"Yes, mud, box, apricot, horse..."
Pendragon's speech was distorted due to artificially created facial expressions.
"If I say I believe you, do you believe me?"
Seemingly finding the texture wonderful, Rin Tohsaka was surprised to find Saber's oval face surprisingly plump and juicy. She placed both hands on Pendragon's face, kneading and pulling it as if playing with a dough.
Seeing her platoon being treated like this, Lily felt strange.
