"Can you take me to the Black Knight?" Xia Que pleaded with him. "I want to talk to the Black Knight about something, something very important."
"Of course! How could I refuse Your Highness, the Hero! Please come with me."
The adventurer readily agreed to Xia Que's request. Xia Que thanked him and was about to leave with him when she was stopped by the guards.
"Your Highness, where are you going?" the guard asked.
“I need to go to the Black Knights,” Xia Que patiently explained to them. “I’ve found my companions. Please let me go find them, okay?”
“You are still injured, it would be best if you went back to rest.” The guard refused Xia Que’s request. “Leave the task of finding your companion to me, Soka, take the hero back to rest.”
"Yes." Is that not okay...?
Although the reason is unknown, they seem to be preventing me from meeting the Black Knight and his group. Or is it that meeting would cause trouble for one of them...?
"Well, I'm sorry, brother," Xia Que apologized to the adventurer, bowing her head. "I'm sorry, I can't go with you. Could you please bring the Black Knight to me?"
"Oh, no problem."
"The adventurer patted his chest. "Leave it to me! Hero, you must rest and recuperate! Fight alongside us!"
"Thank you."
After thanking the adventurer, Xia Que followed one of the guards back to the tent. The other guard went with the adventurer to find the Black Knight.
But... in the end, Xia Que never saw the Black Knight...
Chapter 17 Temporary Separation
The incident occurred after leaving the maze.
"Excuse me, could you three please wait a moment?"
The "ghosts" stepped forward and blocked Seria and her companions, separating them from the Holshaar. Lycia approached them and explained in a businesslike tone.
"Please part ways with Her Highness the Hero here for now," Lycia said calmly. "Her Highness the Hero needs to rest now, and we ghosts will provide her with effective treatment. Everyone, please go to the camp with my men; tents have been prepared for you there."
"Why?" Mo Yueya asked unhappily.
“His Highness the Hero needs to rest,” Lycia reiterated. “If you are all worried, please come back to see him after he has settled down. Is that alright?”
baffling……
Mo Yueya frowned and turned her gaze to Hao'er behind Licia. Hao'er stood up, holding Xia Que, and left without saying a word, his back to them.
Several ghosts surrounded them as they advanced, probably heading towards the hero's tent. Sometimes, being a hero can be a real hindrance...
“Let’s go.” Mo Yueya turned around. “Black Knight, Seria, let’s go to the camp first.”
“But…” Celia hesitated, “Are Xia Que and Hao Er really okay?”
Celia's impression of the "Ghost" was one of mystery, and it was precisely because of this mystery that it inspired fear. Although she knew the "Ghost" belonged to the royal family, she felt no sense of security with them.
“No problem.” Mo Yueya gave them both a look. “We need to rest now, let’s go.”
You two cooperate with me, and we'll discuss this matter again once things have calmed down.
The Black Knight immediately understood and echoed him, "Yes, Seria, we've been exploring the labyrinth for quite a while now, it's time for us to take a good rest."
“…Alright then.” Celia feigned reluctance. “But I’m tired. Black Knight, carry me back.”
After saying that, Seria willfully opened her arms, waiting for the Black Knight to pick her up.
"Haa~ I just can't do anything with you."
The Black Knight shrugged helplessly, tucked his shield and greatsword behind his back, and then carefully picked her up. Mo Yueya rolled her eyes at them, then gestured for Lycia to send someone to take them to the tent to rest.
"..."
Lycia whispered something to the two "ghosts" who had stopped them, her voice so low that Mo Yueya couldn't hear her. After they finished speaking, the "ghosts" nodded, and Lycia waved and left.
"Everyone, please follow us to your tents."
"Please, I don't want to think about anything anymore." Mo Yueya was telling the truth; he was indeed so tired that he wanted to collapse onto his comfortable bed.
"Ghost" walked ahead of them, with the Black Knight and Ink Moon Raven following closely behind as they passed through the camp. This camp hadn't appeared when they arrived at the labyrinth; when exactly did such a massive camp begin to gather?
Adventurers... mercenaries... even civilians?
Mo Yueya could tell at a glance who the camp was made up of, but he couldn't understand why there were civilians here, and in such large numbers.
Normally, it would be quite unusual to have a small team of adventurers of a dozen or so people camping in the wild, so what's going on with this huge scale?
Upon entering the camp, they were greeted by a cacophony of noises—the clash of swords, the cries of children, and angry roars. This was no camp; it was more like a refuge.
unreasonable.
This was Mo Yueya's first thought. He had too little information to figure out what was going on, and he had also reached his limit.
Damn it... I'm so sleepy...
Before anyone knew it, Mo Yueya was almost unable to open her eyes, her steps were unsteady, and her body was swaying, as if she was about to collapse at any moment.
But suddenly someone helped him up, and when he looked up, he saw it was the Black Knight's hand.
"……grateful."
"Don't mention it, we're all partners."
After that, Mo Yueya didn't know what happened. When he woke up, he was already in the tent.
"Ah... damn it... I overslept..." Mo Yueya muttered to himself, scratching his head.
Mo Yueya didn't know how long she had slept, but she felt she had slept enough. What a mistake.
He looked up and glanced around. He saw Celia still fast asleep on the opposite bed. She hadn't woken up yet, which meant she was exhausted. Mo Yueya quietly got up, careful not to disturb her, but now he noticed a problem.
"Where is the Black Knight...?"
Mo Yueya frowned. He didn't see the Black Knight in the tent, but he could see his luggage. He hadn't expected to miss something so important while the Black Knight was fast asleep.
That Black Knight finally gets to take off his armor and rest at a time like this—a perfect opportunity to confirm his gender! Oh dear, how could we have missed it?
While he was still agonizing over these things, the Black Knight lifted the tent flap and walked in, leaving him no chance to even search his luggage.
"Oh, Moon Raven, you're awake too." The Black Knight spoke to him in a low voice. "How were you? Did you sleep well?"
"It's comfortable..." Mo Yueya squinted, looking out the curtain, "but I still feel a little uneasy. What were you doing outside just now?"
"Go get you some food." The Black Knight took out a basket filled with food. "I also took a shower and asked about the situation."
"Tsk... Going to take a shower, huh..." Mo Yue clicked her tongue.
"Hmm? Did you say anything?"
"No," Mo Yueya lied without batting an eye. "Did you find out anything when you went out?"
"Yes, many."
The Black Knight put down the basket, picked up the long loaf of bread inside, broke it in half, and gave one half to Mo Yueya. He ate in his usual way, opening his helmet and reaching inside—a scene that always felt eerie no matter how many times you watched it…
"Don't tell me yet." Mo Yueya took the bread, took a bite, and said, "Let me deal with this first."
"what?"
"This tent."
As he spoke, Mo Yueya released his recently recovered magic power, and the black crows flew back and forth inside the tent.
Mo Yueya has already discovered what's wrong. Now, he plans to deal with this first, and then ask the Black Knight what he knows.
“I’m sorry,” Mo Yueya said calmly, “I don’t intend to let others pry into our private lives.”
woohoo hoo...
In the blink of an eye, the tent was filled with black wind.
Chapter 18 The Monitor
The black crows instantly filled the tent, disrupting all the magic that had been set up inside. This magic did not belong to any of the three of them and had even formed a kind of spell, which the Moon Raven could not possibly have missed.
Do you really think I can't see it?
Mo Yueya felt immense contempt. He couldn't figure out the magic's origins, but having an unknown magic spell beside him was incredibly annoying.
Mo Yueya didn't want to deal with the magic in detail, but he knew that the magic covered the entire tent, and it was easy to solve. He could just use Mo Yueya to disrupt all the magic.
Aaaaaa.
The black raven howled and flew around inside the tent, its magic completely disrupted, rendering it unable to function as intended. After confirming this, Mo Yueya was about to recall the raven when someone rushed in.
"What's going on? What happened?"
Two knights in armor rushed in, saw the tent full of black crows, and questioned the two men. Because it was so noisy, Seria reluctantly got up as well.
"What do you think?" Mo Yueya said calmly, "Stretch your arms and legs a bit."
"What's the deal with these crows?" the guard asked.
"Ah, those were just my magic." Mo Yueya waved his hand, summoning them all back, and then they returned to their black magic.
“This is something I have to do every day,” Mo Yueya said matter-of-factly. “If I don’t practice, I’ll definitely get rusty.”
“Uh…I see…” The guard advised him, “Please don’t practice in the tent, it will be very troublesome for us.”
"Alright, alright, I understand. Is there anything else you two need?" Mo Yueya replied perfunctorily.
"Um...that's all, sorry to bother you."
"Don't rush off yet, our daughter has something to discuss with you two."
"……!OK!"
After calling out to the two guards, Mo Yueya silently walked away, revealing Seria, who had been standing behind him, hiding behind the Black Knight.
"Sweeping across armies, galloping ten thousand miles, this wind is blessed by the gods! It embodies the wrath of the wind god! 'Wrathful Wind God's Hammer'!"
A rapid chant expressed his anger at being awakened. A blue magic circle appeared in front of him in the blink of an eye, and a blue magical light flashed and disappeared. A giant hammer made of wind sent the two guards flying in one go.
"Whoa..." The Black Knight whistled.
He wasn't confident he could take a direct hit from the "Raging Wind Hammer" either; he'd probably be sent flying. Angry girls are terrifying.
"Haa..." Seria took a deep breath to calm herself down. "What are you two doing?"
“We were discussing some things,” the Black Knight explained to her, “but Mo Yueya said there was someone else’s magic here, so she released crows to disrupt the magic.”
"Well done." Celia gave Mo Yueya a thumbs up. "I also don't like having strangers casting spells near me."
"Would you like breakfast?" Mo Yueya took another bite of bread.
“No need… I want to take a shower,” Celia asked. “Do you know where I can take a shower?”
“Hmm… I just went there. There’s a river nearby,” the Black Knight told her. “There are specially installed wooden walls by the river, one side for men and the other side for women. You can ask the other people to find out where it is.”
"Ha... Thanks, Black Knight."
Seria took out a change of clothes from her luggage, blew a kiss to the Black Knight as she left, and then exited the tent. In the end, only the Black Knight and Mo Yueya remained in the tent.
"Let's get down to business," Mo Yueya asked while munching on her bread, "What's the situation now?"
“Now, we’re being treated as the hero’s companions and receiving ‘special treatment,’” the Black Knight said. “It seems we’re being monitored by ‘Ghost’ and his crew.”
“I can tell.” Mo Yueya nodded. “Someone came right after I broke the spell. Don’t you think that’s strange?”
"Indeed it is."
Generally speaking, no one would care if someone just placed a harmless summoning spell inside a tent. It's really strange that Mo Yueya sent people immediately after disrupting the spell of unknown origin.
"Is it okay to leave Seria out like this?" The Black Knight was a little worried about Seria, who had just gone out.
“No problem.” Mo Yueya took another piece of bread. “At least for now, the ‘Ghost’ doesn’t seem to intend to harm us. It’s just separated us from the hero and is monitoring us. So there shouldn’t be any danger.”
The Black Knight stood up, walked to the side of the curtain, and lifted it slightly to look outside. The two guards were still unconscious; leaving them alone would probably be fine. He looked around again, but there was no suspicious person loitering in the vicinity.
"This is a bit hard to understand..." The Black Knight returned. "Why are we, as the hero's companions in slaying the evil dragon, being treated this way?"
"There's probably some problem with the hero and Haor," Mo Yueya concluded. "I don't really like the kingdom right now. After this battle, I'll probably have to leave the front lines."
"Aren't you going to be an adventurer anymore?" The Black Knight tilted his head.
“No, I’m going to another front line.” Mo Yueya pointed in a direction. “I’m going to the front line where we fight the demons.”
"Hmph..." The Black Knight nodded. "Since you've made up your mind, there's nothing more I can say to you."
“Then,” Mo Yueya asked, “why are there so many people outside?”
“Ha…” The Black Knight sighed. “The kingdom has issued a commission to subdue the labyrinth and the evil dragon, with a minimum reward of five hundred silver coins for each person.”
