28. Survive from Despair

A ball of magic exploded between Alayya and Reed, and both of them paused for a moment.

The fast-running monkey had already approached Lid's back, jumped down from the treetop, pounced on Lid, clenched its two inhuman claws together, and smashed towards Lid's head.

[Crimson Fire] whizzed out and pierced into the ape's neck, and the tremendous force carried it flying backwards.

The ape fell into the wave of demons and was instantly submerged and disappeared.

It was so small that it didn't even cause a ripple.

Alayya looked grim, she was thinking about how to get out of this situation. In her opinion, if she abandoned Delis who caused trouble and took the young master away personally, she would most likely be able to escape. She didn't know how much strength her young master had left, but he was getting closer and closer to the demons, and it seemed that the demons behind him could swallow him at any time.

Alayya narrowed her eyes slightly and slammed on the brakes, stirring up a cloud of dust.

"Master, be careful!"

Alayya shouted, turned towards the surging demons, carried Delis on her shoulder with one hand, drew out [Dragon] with the other hand, and swung it fiercely at the wave of demons.

As soon as Reed heard her voice, he knew what she was going to do. He bent his body and a sword energy passed by his head, and a few strands of broken hair fluttered in front of his eyes.

The towering ancient trees collapsed with a loud bang, and the demons in the front were almost completely killed.

Lid tripped over a tree root, rolled on the ground, got up and continued running as if nothing had happened. Alayya put the sword back into the scabbard, and a layer of fine beads of sweat had already seeped out on her beautiful face. In this kind of pursuit, there are only two possibilities: escape or not escape. Turning back to resist is completely like a mantis trying to stop a chariot.

Not to mention that she was only at the sixth level of perfection, even if she was at a higher level, it would be impossible for her to launch a counterattack under such circumstances. Trying her best to stop these desperate demons and create more opportunities for her young master to escape was the limit of what she could do.

"Hurry, hurry! Those guys are catching up with us again!"

Delis screamed in panic, her hands tightly grasping Alayya's clothes, and her voice was a little distorted.

Alayya gritted her teeth and controlled [Crimson Fire] to kill some demons. When her young master ran some distance and the demons were already rushing towards her, she kicked a demon wolf on the head, used the reaction force to fly into the air, stepped on tree trunks and branches to hurry on, and instantly distanced herself from the demons behind her.

"I, I have never seen a person as reckless as you..."

Delis was gasping for breath. She really thought that Aleyya was going to stay behind to cover their retreat. When the demons pounced on them, she felt that she was going to die gloriously along with this silly maid.

Alayya didn't say anything, and continued to think about how to tactfully tell the young master that Delis was a burden. In the past, the reason why Alayya could lead Lid to charge around in the demon area was because she used guerrilla tactics well and didn't have too many conflicts with the demons. But with Delis, the mobility was greatly reduced, and even if Alayya had all the means, she couldn't solve the current unfavorable situation.

Seeing that Alaiya hadn't spoken, Delis couldn't help but secretly observe her expression. She looked indifferent and occasionally glanced at herself, and she immediately understood what she was thinking.

But what could she do now? Apart from firmly grasping Alayya's clothes and giving herself some psychological comfort, Delis could do nothing.

Just when Alayya was still hesitating whether to act first and ask for permission later, Lid suddenly shouted at her:

"There are demons ahead too!"

Alaiya was stunned for a moment, and then she released her breath to sense, and found that there were countless demons waiting for them in front. Although those demons tried their best to hide their breath, the difference in strength between the low-level demons and her was too great, and they could not hide, and they could be seen through at a glance.

Alayya put a hand on Delis's back.

At this moment, Alayya really grabbed Delis's dress, intending to throw her to the demons behind her, and then protect her young master and fight her way out.

But before she could do so, Reed shouted at her:

"Take Delis and lead the demon wave over!"

Alayya woke up as if from a dream. The hand that was originally intended to pick her up and throw her away changed to holding her down tightly; with the other hand, she clenched the sword and rushed forward with Reed.

Amifars sent several demon armies to hunt down Lid, and the one ambushing here was one of them. They seemed to have been ambushing here for a long time, and when they saw Alaya and Lid appear in front of them, their morale was immediately boosted.

Then they soon discovered that the scene before them was very different from what they had expected.

Reed and Alaiya did come, but they were followed by a large group of demons with red eyes. There were so many of them that the demon army felt a little scared and for a moment they didn't know whether they should go up or not.

Without giving them time to hesitate, Alayya used the sharpness of her weapon to cut a bloody path and charged into the demon army's formation.

In a flash, the demon army lying in ambush here could only execute the orders they had received and surrounded the three people.

But it can’t be surrounded at all!

No one could stop Alayya. The demon army that surrounded her was too numerous and they actually acted as a buffer between Alayya and the demon wave.

The demon army wave didn't take the demon army seriously at all. In their eyes, these bastards who came out of nowhere were just trying to steal their treasures. They didn't give the demon army any face at all. Relying on their large numbers, they ignored the demon army and continued to advance. I don't know how many demon soldiers were drowned in the waves before they could resist, and died inexplicably.

The whole scene became chaotic in an instant, with gunshots accidentally fired between the demon army and the wild demons, leading to a fight.

This is Reed's plan.

If both sides were demons, then Lid himself would probably die under the attack from both sides. However, it was not the case. The demons in front still had some discipline, but the demons behind them should be classified as a simple disaster. As long as Alayya could quickly carve a hole in the demon army and rush into the formation, the demon army would have to endure the cold and ruthless charge of those wild demons. Even if they did not want to be enemies with their compatriots, there was no way to stop the war.

What's more, they are originally a race of demons that kill each other.

They don't have the good temper to consider the overall situation. If they are attacked, they will fight back. This is their style.

Although Alayya had to deal with demons coming from all directions, the strength of these demons was not particularly strong. She fought with all her might, holding [Youlong] in one hand and chopped down the demons around her to the ground, and used [Crimson Fire] to protect her young master. She spent her sword energy without hesitation and endured the exhaustion.

It turns out that this approach is effective.

In the melee, the wild demons who coveted Delis could not identify their direction very well, so they spontaneously split into many groups, like a flood. This further expanded the attack area on the demon army, and the two sides gradually became ready to fight to the death.

29. Childhood Shadows Meet Again

"If I can return alive, I will definitely report to my father and kill all those bastards of the demon clan..."

Before escaping, Delis weakly uttered a harsh word.

She had already gotten off Alayya, and was walking unsteadily, leaning on a branch. She was still dizzy from the violent bumps just now, and had vomited twice in just over ten minutes. Her face was still very bad, and she covered her mouth with one hand, trying to hold back the nausea again, maintaining the last dignity of a princess of the clan.

Alaiya said nothing. Her condition was much more serious than Delis's. She didn't have many wounds this time, because ordinary demons couldn't get close to her and would be cut into pieces by the splashing sword energy. But on the other hand, the demons who could rush to her side against the sword energy were very powerful. It was much more painful to be hit by a claw from such a guy than to be beaten by those low-level demons for a long time.

Alaiya only had three wounds on her body, one on her back, one on her right arm, and one on her left leg. The wound on her right arm was not too bad because she had an arm armor to help block it, but the other two wounds were so deep that the bones were visible.

After completely getting rid of the demon army and the demon wave, the first thing Reed did was to apply medicine to her. After making sure she was out of danger, he continued to move forward slowly.

Things are so miserable, so naturally no one would care about Delis's harsh words.

"Do you elves still have the energy to intervene in the affairs of the demons? You have been fighting the dragons for so long and still have no winner. Most of your troops should have been spent there. Even if your father, the Elf King, knew about this, he probably wouldn't dare to stand up for you. He might even secretly find someone to draw a few more books..."

Lid insulted her, but Delis didn't understand for a moment and asked:

"What to draw?"

"fine."

Lid consciously changed the subject:

"Speaking of that wolf cub, it was almost dying. Can you save it?"

Delis nodded and said:

"Yes, this is a privilege of our royal bloodline. To put it simply, this is the ability to heal injuries by communicating with nature. But in the land of the demons, this power is too severely suppressed... Although this is also a forest, demons are rampant. I am an outsider to this land, and this land does not recognize me at all."

After saying that, she glanced at Alayya with a hint of helplessness in her eyes:

"Just now, because I wanted to treat the wolf cub's injuries, the forest reluctantly gave me some of its power. Now when I try to communicate with the forest again, it starts to ignore me again."

Reed could understand this, and naturally would not blame her for not feeding the injured Alayya.

Just like humans have a national defense formation that gives their own people a power bonus and sets a weakening buff on the enemy. Although the demons do not have such a mature formation protection, they still have an instinctive xenophobic reaction. As an elf, it is normal for Delis to command the demon forest to move.

What Lid really cares about is another point:

"You just said that your power comes from communicating with nature... not from praying to the gods, right?"

Delis asked curiously:

"God... Are you talking about the old gods, one of the [Upper Three Clans]? Why should I pray to those guys? Can praying to them give me strength? We, the elves, are not vassals of the old gods. Although we cannot defeat them, we will not kneel down and kowtow to them!"

Lid nodded, knowing that Delis's power was different from those saints in the temple. He could tell from the fact that she didn't pray when she cured the wolf cub just now, and from what she said, it seemed that the elves didn't have the custom of praying to the old gods, which was very different from humans.

Lid was very satisfied and couldn't help asking:

"In other words, if you get permission, you can use this power to communicate with the demons' land to divide the power to heal the demons, and communicate with the dragons' land to heal the dragons? This is indeed very versatile. I didn't expect you to be an all-purpose healer."

Delis didn't understand what universal milk was, but she understood Lid's general meaning, and replied with some pride:

"Of course, but it's not as easy as when I was with the elves. And those ministers and elders are quite stubborn on racial issues. If the news of me treating the demon wolf gets out, I'll be locked up by them. On this issue, even my father can't go against their attitude. The elves have always been proud of their bloodline. Not to mention the other races, even those black-skinned elves are polluted creatures in our eyes. We can only drive them around, not interact with them as equals, not to mention using the power of the royal family to treat them..."

She didn't seem to want to say this and stopped before she finished.

Reed looked at her and said nothing.

Because of her physical discomfort, Delis was unable to maintain her superior attitude, and her aggressive tone was much less. Although she was still far behind a normal person, in Lid's opinion, she was already the kind of person who could "communicate well".

Delis was indeed tired. She had never experienced so many life-and-death situations in one day since she was born.

Fortunately, it's safe now.

The leaves rustled, and the sunlight shone through the leaves, leaving mottled spots on the ground.

Delis raised her head, narrowed her eyes slightly, and looked at the demon forest.

The trees growing in the demon tribe, although not all of them look as withered as the tree monsters, are obviously darker in color. Even the new buds are old dark green, and the leaves are basically no longer green. From a distance, they are almost black, at most not pure black.

When I was distracted for a moment, I heard Lid say:

"I rely on!"

Delis turned her head slightly, and out of the corner of her eye she could see that Reed seemed to have tripped over a stone and was falling forward. Before she could react, Reed instinctively wanted to find something to hold on to, and in a hurry he just happened to grab her wrist, and pulled it like a life-saving straw.

But Delis herself was very weak, and her mind didn't react for a moment to what was happening, so she was dragged to the ground by Reed.

She crashed into the sand, her face covered with dust, and anger rose up. Suddenly, she felt that she had regained two or three points of strength in her body. She was about to have a good battle with Reed, but was suddenly blown away by the air flow behind her. She fell into a tree, her eyes went black, and a trickle of blood oozed from her pink lips.

She forced her eyes open and saw a burly demon standing there, with a spear in his hand half stuck in the ground, a round hole exploded around the tip of the spear.

Reed was also lying in a mess not far away.

It seems that if he hadn't "luckily" fallen and pulled himself down, both of them would be dead now.

Alayya was facing a formidable enemy. She pulled out two knives despite her injuries and stared nervously at the demon in front of her.

Delis saw all these scenes, but she had lost the ability to interpret what she saw.

She stared at the demon with panic in her eyes. The pictures of hell she had seen flashed in her mind like a revolving lantern. She screamed:

“Goblin——!!”

Then he fainted.

30. Continue

Brother Brown pulled out his spear from the mud, held it in his hand, and the first thing he did was to go to see Reed who had gotten up.

Coincidentally, Reed was also looking at it.

When meeting Lid's eyes, Brother Brown's heart trembled for no reason. Among the people present, only he and Lid had fought each other - although he didn't know if it could be called a fight. Back then, outside Yuxi City, Brother Brown, who was a sixth-level spearman, was thrown to the ground by Lid in just one round. He had no choice but to agree to his deal and sacrifice his two children.

It had no hatred towards Reed because it had benefited from that battle.

But now, Amifires asked it to come and kill Reed, and it had to come.

Lid dusted himself off and said as if nothing had happened:

"I was wondering why the demon army ambushing there didn't have a general...it turns out they were waiting for me here."

Brother Brown held the gun tightly, with the gun and arm in a straight line, pointing it diagonally to the ground, half-closed his eyes, and said only four words:

"haven't seen you for a long time."

Speaking of which, Brother Brown was quite helpless. He knew that it would be difficult for him to defeat Lid in a head-on fight, so he put a lot of effort into the ambush. He let his demon army lie in ambush there first, consume the physical strength of Lid and Alaya, and wait for them to break through with all their efforts and relax, then suddenly attack them, with at least 70% to 80% chance of success.

Unexpectedly, Lid and Alayya broke through quickly, and their own demon army fought against the wild demons chasing Lid. Strictly speaking, their carefully planned ambush actually helped them, otherwise it would not be so easy to get rid of the spontaneous demon wave.

Brother Brown frowned slightly, and although he tried his best to suppress it, one could see obvious annoyance and resentment in his eyes.

If it had not chosen to ambush like this, and waited for Lid there with its demon army, it might have been able to control the situation and recruit the wild demons for its own use.

In that case, the chances of winning can be increased by a few percent.

It was not a person who was good at calculating, and the goblin race had never been one. It had far superior wisdom to its peers, but that was the limit. This two-stage ambush was the best way it could think of, but it didn't expect it to end in such a cowardly way. After that, it used a method it was more familiar with, which was called "one force defeats ten skills", commonly known as "headstrong".

Relying only on strength is a martial artist, but it is precisely because it has achieved the ultimate in the way of martial artists that it can climb to the sixth level as a goblin. You know, 99% of the goblins in the world are the lowest level of demons. The actions of hundreds of people are because the strength of each individual is too low. Even ordinary men who have not practiced martial arts have a chance to kill them.

Alayya stood in front of Reed, her palms slightly sweaty.

Just now, she did not notice Brother Brown's sneak attack.

She could see that Brother Brown, like herself, was at the level of the sixth level of perfection. The reason she didn't notice its sudden attack was certainly because she was injured, but it also showed that this demon was different from the ones she had fought before.

It's strong.

When Alayya looked at Gobrown, Gobrown also looked at Alayya.
