Good Luck Fountain
The Fountain of Good Luck is located on a high hill in a magical garden, surrounded by high walls and protected by powerful magic.
Once a year, between sunrise and sunset on the day with the longest day, only one unfortunate person has the opportunity to come to the Fountain of Good Fortune, bathe in the water, and gain permanent good luck.
It was said that before dawn, hundreds of people from all over the kingdom came to the garden walls. These people were men and women, rich and poor, old and young, some with magic and some without magic. They gathered in the dark, each hoping that they would be the lucky one to enter the garden.
There were three witches, each with heavy sorrow, gathered together outside the crowd. While waiting for the sunrise, they told each other about their pain.
The first witch was called Asha. She was terminally ill and no doctor could cure her. She hoped that the Fountain of Good Luck could eliminate her symptoms and grant her happiness and longevity.
The second witch is called Eltida, whose home, her gold and her wand have all been taken away by an evil wizard. She hopes that the Fountain of Good Luck will save her from poverty and weakness.
The third witch was named Amata. She was abandoned by the man she loved deeply and felt that the pain in her heart would never heal. She hoped that the Fountain of Good Luck could ease her pain and longing.
The three women sympathized with each other and agreed that if good luck came to them, they would unite and try to go to the Fountain of Good Luck together.
The first rays of sunlight lit up the sky. A crack appeared in the wall. The crowd pushed forward, each one screaming and begging for the blessing of the Fountain of Good Luck. The vines in the garden stretched out, winding through the crowded crowd and entangled the first witch, Asha. Asha grabbed the wrist of the second witch, Altida, and Altida grabbed the robe of the third witch, Amata.
However, Amata was tripped by the armor of a sad-looking knight who was riding a skinny horse.
The vines pulled the three witches through the cracks in the wall, and the knight was pulled off his skinny horse and entered the garden with them.
Angry shouts from the disappointed crowd echoed in the morning air, and then the crowd fell silent as the garden walls closed again.
Asha and Altida were very angry with Amata for accidentally bringing the knight in.
"Only one person can bathe in the Fountain of Good Luck! It's hard enough to pick one among us, and now there's another one!"
At this time, Sir Unlucky - in fact, this is his name in the world outside the wall - found out that the three women were witches, and he did not know magic, nor did he have superb skills in fighting and sword dancing, nor did he have any talents that could make non-magic people outstanding. He thought he would definitely not be able to beat the three women and reach the Fountain of Good Luck. So he announced that he planned to withdraw and return to the outside of the wall.
Hearing this, Amata became very angry.
"Coward!" she scolded him. "Draw your sword, knight, and help us reach our destination!"
So the three witches and the poor knight boldly walked into the magic garden. On both sides of the sunny path, there were lush exotic flowers and rare fruit trees. They had no obstacles along the way and came to the foot of the hill where the Fountain of Good Luck was located.
However, a huge white earthworm, blind and bloated, coiled up at the foot of the hill, turned its filthy face toward them as they approached and uttered these words: Prove me your pain.
Sir Unfortunate drew his sword and tried to kill the monster, but the blade broke, and Altida threw stones at the earthworm, and Asha and Amata chanted various spells to subdue or confuse it, but the power of their wands was as useless as Altida's stones and the knight's sword: the earthworm would not let them pass.
As the sun rose higher in the sky, Asha cried in despair.
At this time, the big earthworm put its face against Asha's and sipped the tears on her cheek. The earthworm's thirst was relieved, and it slowly moved aside, crawled into a hole in the ground and disappeared.
When the three witches and the knight saw the earthworm disappear, they were very happy and began to climb up the hill. They thought they would definitely reach the Fountain of Good Luck before noon.
However, when they climbed halfway up the steep cliff, they saw a line of words engraved on the ground in front of them: Give me the fruits of your labor.
The unlucky knight took out his only coin and placed it on the grass on the hillside, but the coin rolled away and disappeared. The three witches and the knight continued to climb, but although they walked for several more hours, they did not make any progress. The top of the mountain was still as far away, and the words were still engraved on the ground in front of them.
As the sun passed over their heads and began to slide toward the distant horizon, they all felt discouraged, but Altheda walked faster and harder than the others, and she urged the others to do the same, although she made no progress on the Magic Mountain.
"Courage, friends, don't give up!" she shouted, wiping the sweat from her brow.
Drops of shiny sweat fell to the ground, and the line of words blocking their way disappeared, and they found that they could continue to climb the mountain again.
After clearing the second obstacle, they were very happy and rushed to the top of the mountain as fast as they could. Finally, they saw the Fountain of Good Luck, which sparkled like crystal among the trees, flowers and plants.
However, before they reached the spring, they encountered a river. The river surrounded the top of the mountain, blocking their way. Deep in the clear river, there was a smooth stone with the following words on it: Give me your past wealth.
The unlucky knight wanted to float across the river on his shield, but the shield sank into the water. The three witches pulled the knight out of the river, and then they wanted to jump over the river themselves, but the river would not let them pass. At this time, the sun was getting lower and lower in the sky.
So they began to think about the meaning of the words on the stone, and Amata was the first to understand.
She drew her wand, drew from her mind all the happy times she had spent with her vanished lover, and threw them into the flowing river. The current carried the memories away, and a few stepping stones appeared in the river, so that the three witches and the knight could finally cross the river to the top of the mountain.
The Fountain of Good Luck was glittering in front of them, surrounded by exotic flowers and plants that they had never seen before, stunningly beautiful. The sky was shining like a ruby, and now it was time to decide who would take the bath. Just before they made a decision, the weak Asha fainted on the ground. The journey to the top of the mountain was too hard, and she was already dying.
Her three friends wanted to carry her to the Fountain of Good Luck, but Asha was in great pain and begged them not to touch her.
At this time, Altida hurried to pick all the herbs she thought were effective, mixed them in the water hyacinth of the unfortunate knight, and fed them into Asha's mouth.
Asha was immediately able to stand up. Moreover, all symptoms of her terminal illness disappeared.
"I am well again!" she cried. "I have no need of the Fountain of Fortune--let Altida bathe!"
But Altheda was busy gathering more herbs and putting them in her apron.
"If I can cure this disease, I can earn a lot of gold! Let Amata take a bath!"
The unfortunate lord bowed and motioned Amata to go to the spring, but Amata shook her head. The river washed away all her thoughts of her lover, and she realized how cold and heartless he was, and it was a blessing to be able to get rid of him.
"Good sir, take your bath as a reward for your chivalrous act!" she said to the unfortunate knight.
So, in the last few rays of sunset, the knight clanged forward and bathed in the Fountain of Good Luck. He was surprised to find that he was one of the lucky ones among thousands, and felt overwhelmed by this incredible good luck.
As the sun sank below the horizon, Sir Unfortunate emerged from the spring, all ablaze with joy. He threw himself at the feet of Amata in his rusty armor, thinking that she was the kindest and most beautiful woman he had ever seen. With a flushed face, he asked her to marry him and begged for her love.
Amata was also very happy, realizing that she had found a man worthy of her heart.
The three witches and the knight walked down the mountain hand in hand.
The four people lived very happily for a long time, but none of them knew, and they never doubted, that the water from the Fountain of Good Luck was not magical at all.
Chapter 200 Harry: What did you just say?
On the way back to the common room, Loren kept thinking about the Fountain of Good Luck.
He had read the famous "Tales of Beedle the Bard" briefly, but his attention was focused on the last story at that time - "Death and the Three Brothers".
From the current perspective, the Deathly Hallows are real, and the Fountain of Luck is also real.
Does this mean that the magic involved in the other stories is also real?
"The Wizard and the Hopping Pot, The Wizard's Hairy Heart, and what's the other story?" Loren muttered, gave the Fat Lady the password, and went into the Gryffindor common room.
In the lounge of the circular room, the walls were hung with streamers left over from Halloween, and a passionate flame was roaring in the fireplace.
"Great! I never knew you were so brave, Neville!"
"Justin was so scared, thanks to you!"
"Why are you blushing? That's not how you look when you're wielding the venomous snake, haha!"
A group of little wizards surrounded Neville and smeared various creams on his face to express their admiration for his heroic behavior today.
The lively atmosphere seemed very good, and it looked like there was no unpleasantness because of Harry's matter.
Loren felt relieved, but he looked around and didn't see Hermione, Harry and Ron.
He quietly walked up to Seamus and Dean who were chatting by the window and patted Seamus on the shoulder.
"I definitely believe that—" Seamus, who was leaning against the window, turned his head, his eyes lit up, "Hey, Loren, the duel tonight was great! Emmm... I mean, if it weren't for what happened later..."
Lauren interrupted him: "Have you seen Hermione? And Harry and Ron, where are they?"
Before Seamus could reply, Cormac McLaggen, who was not far away, shouted, "This is incredible! You are still looking for that person."
McLaggen was a student one year older than them. He was always arrogant, self-centered, and had a bad temper. He always wanted to be a Quidditch player, but Wood didn't seem to want him to join the team.
Because of Loren's wonderful performance on the stage, McLaggen wanted to make friends with him. When he heard him asking where Harry had gone, he jumped out impatiently and said with a caring attitude: "I remember you are a little wizard of Muggle origin. Let me tell you, the most important thing you should do now is to go back to the dormitory, pack your things, and move out to stay away from that person."
Seemingly pleased with his idea, he raised his eyebrows and continued, "And Miss Granger, you should persuade her to stay away from that man. You never know when you will be petrified and sent to the school infirmary!"
He was afraid that others would not hear what he said and would not be able to express themselves, so he shouted very loudly and almost all the young wizards in Gryffindor heard it.
As if by some magic, McLaggen's few words interrupted the lively scene and the common room fell into silence.
This person must have some problem.
Loren looked at him calmly, his voice neither too loud nor too soft, just enough for every little wizard in the lounge to hear: "First of all, Harry is my roommate, a classmate from the same academy as me, and a partner who has experienced life and death adventures with me. I know him, so I trust him."
"Secondly, you want to criticize Harry but dare not mention his name. This behavior will only make people feel ridiculous."
Others discussed quietly:
"He really didn't dare to mention Harry's name just now."
"I know that, just like my parents were afraid to mention Voldemort's name, McLaggen is really afraid of Harry."
"Are you afraid that Harry will petrify him?"
Ginny's retort came out quickly amidst the chattering noise, her voice cracking a little due to excitement: "Harry is not the heir of the Chamber of Secrets, he can't turn people to stone!"
At this time, Neville, who had randomly touched his face a few times and got cream all over his face, walked out of the crowd and walked to Loren's side, with a silly firmness on his face: "I believe in Harry, too."
Simo didn't say anything, but also stood silently beside the two of them to make his position clear.
McLaggen's face flushed red, and he stiffened his neck and shouted even louder, "Are you stupid? Didn't you hear that Harry Potter can speak Parseltongue? Doesn't that mean he is the heir of Slytherin?"
"Think about it! He was at the scene when Mrs. Lawless was murdered, and Creevey was petrified because he sneaked out to visit him in the hospital. Isn't this enough to prove that he is the heir of Slytherin?"
"Nonsense! Ron was with him the night Mrs. Norris was murdered." Ginny stood up and rebuked him, and also walked to Loren and others to make her position clear.
"Huh?" McLaggen was even more proud. "This shows that Ron is an accomplice. Everyone knows that the Weasleys are also a pure-blood family. You don't care about bloodline on the surface, but your actions are protecting pure blood. Even if you are poor, you still have so many children. If it's not for the purpose of passing on bloodline, what is it for?"
Ginny's hair stood up in anger, her red hair flowing like a lion's mane, and she screamed and rushed forward, trying to tear his mouth apart.
George and Fred hurried to persuade her to stop. They each held Ginny's arm and said, "Lady, lady..."
Ginny waved her arms and legs vigorously, trying to break free and teach that foul-mouthed man a lesson.
George leaned close to his ear and said, "Don't worry, we will teach him a lesson."
"That's right. We have a lot of interesting things that haven't been tested on humans yet." Fred slowly stroked her hair down.
Coincidentally, Percy, who was trying to maintain order, stood out from the crowd and heard Fred's words when he passed by the three people. He glared at them, pursed his lips but did not say any warning.
"Look, Prefect Percy is angry too."
“He didn’t even stop us…”
"Everyone, listen to me now," Percy stood between Loren and McLaggen, separating them, and raised his hand to draw the attention of the crowd. "Professor Snape specifically warned us not to spread unfounded rumors. Harry is a member of our house, and I hope everyone will believe him."
Percy glanced at the crowd in front of him, "Even if you don't want to believe it, I hope everyone will take the school's investigation as the standard and not be self-righteous and suspicious."
The chattering sounded again.
"Do you believe?"
"I don't know, but I'm a pureblood, so I don't have to worry."
"Oh no, my grandma is a Muggle, will I be petrified?"
"Then you should avoid Potter from now on."
"..."
Finally, Wood came out with a group of Quidditch players to support Harry, and those doubtful voices were barely suppressed. But the lively party could no longer go on, and everyone dispersed, gathering in small groups of twos and threes.
Seamus patted Loren's shoulder with emotion: "When Harry and the others first came back, they were forced to leave because of these words and went out for some fresh air."
"Where did they go?"
"The Astronomy Tower. They say the air there is fresher."
……
The Astronomy Tower is the tallest tower in Hogwarts Castle. They have an astronomy class every week to observe the stars. Students use telescopes to observe the orbits of stars and planets, explore the starry sky and practice magic. This class is usually held at midnight because the stars are most clearly visible at this time.
This is an open circular terrace surrounded by a low guard wall. The sky seems so low that it seems as if you can reach into the clouds by raising your arm, but when you raise your hand, you will find that the stars hanging high in the night sky are still far away.
When Loren arrived at the Astronomy Tower, Harry was leaning against the parapet, complaining angrily: "How could they think I was the one who opened the Chamber of Secrets!"
Hermione and Ron leaned on either side of Harry, looking extremely helpless.
Hermione said, "Because Parseltongue was Salazar Slytherin's famous ability, everyone thinks you are the heir of Slytherin."
Ron added: "That's right, now everyone in school will think you're his great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson or something..."
"I was telling the snake not to attack Justin. I can't think of any harm in preventing an ugly big snake from biting Justin's head off, except that it can't prevent him from joining the Headless Hunter Team." Harry was very angry. Helping others ended up causing problems.
"Great! That's the only snake in the room that understood what you said. Do you want to let it come out to prove it for you?" Loren followed the team and stood next to Hermione. "Are you mentally ill? Those who don't believe in you won't believe you anyway. Why do you come here to blow the cold wind for them?"
The cruel and blunt words struck Harry straight in the lungs, making him look uncomfortable.
Hermione gently tugged at the corner of his clothes, trying to stop him from feeling hurt.
"Just now in the Gryffindor common room, Ginny was trying to protect you. If George and Fred hadn't stopped her, she would have rushed up and torn the mouth of McLaggen who was saying bad things about you," Loren said.
Ron grinned and said, "George and Fred are so silly. Why did they stop Ginny?"
