The days at Hogwarts
Page 167
That year, Myrtle encountered the basilisk that had just come out of the secret chamber and died on the spot.
The most unexpected thing is that the Chamber of Secrets has been right under their noses. Hermione and Loren brewed Polyjuice Potion in this bathroom during the day, and Crabbe opened the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets at night and released the basilisk to commit crimes.
"He, he is the heir of Slytherin, and the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets is in Myrtle's bathroom..." Ron turned pale with fear, "We must tell Professor Dumbledore about this as soon as possible!"
"No, not us, it's you," Harry said solemnly, "I have to follow him and keep an eye on him."
Ron looked at him in disbelief: "Are you crazy? That thousand-year-old basilisk might be hiding under the chamber of secrets."
Harry let out a long breath and looked meaningfully into the darkness deep in the pipe. "I know. But he took Colin and Justin away. I must follow him to prevent them from being used as the basilisk's dinner before the professor arrives."
Ron's face turned red with anxiety, but he couldn't find any reason to refute him.
"I'll try to delay as much as possible,"
Harry patted his shoulder and smiled casually, "You have to run faster and find the professor to save me as soon as possible, otherwise I might become the basilisk's dessert."
He took a few steps back, leaned on the stone platform beside the pool, turned over and jumped into the dark pipe and disappeared.
Ron took a look at the entrance of the pipe, picked up his sleeve and wiped his face roughly, sniffed, and ran quickly.
"They thought you were the heir, why are you working so hard..." The boy couldn't control his tears as he complained on behalf of his friend.
The inner wall of the pipe was covered with sticky, wet liquid. The dirty slime accumulated over the years allowed Harry to slide smoothly without worrying about bruises. The pipe twisted and turned, winding and winding, and the slope was very steep all the way down.
Occasionally, he could hear a slight crash around a bend, and Harry knew that he had slipped very deep into the underground of the school, deeper even than the dungeon and deeper than the Slytherin common room under the Black Lake.
He slid in the pipe for too long, so long that Harry was getting anxious. Suddenly, he slipped out of the pipe and fell to the wet ground with a plop.
Harry was worried about the safety of Colin and Justin, so he immediately got up and ran along the dark stone passage. He soon caught up with Crabbe, who was walking slowly inside with two stiff bodies floating behind him.
"In order to bring these two people out, I didn't even go to dinner. Can the magic ritual you mentioned really allow me to directly master knowledge and become extremely powerful?" Crabbe's voice echoed in the silent, empty underground chamber.
Harry, who was following behind, watched suspiciously...Who was Crabbe talking to? Did he also have an accomplice wearing an invisibility cloak beside him?
A thin black snake crawled out from Crabbe's collar, along his clothes, all the way to his shoulders, and uttered a hoarse human voice: "Of course, the Horcrux has magical powers that you can hardly imagine. By merging our souls together, you will directly possess my knowledge and even master all the magic that I know."
Harry paused at the sound, and the scar on his forehead began to burn and hurt again.
Horcrux, what is that?
What is soul fusion?
Why did the snake trigger his scar? Was Voldemort possessed by the snake?
Putting all his doubts in his heart, Harry fell behind Crabbe and saw a huge creature coiled at the entrance of the tunnel from afar.
"Bassilla!" He suppressed his inner fear and refrained from making any sound.
But the strange thing was that Crabbe and the black snake acted as if they didn't see the basilisk and just walked around it.
When Harry got closer, he realized that it was just a snake skin. The skin shone with a bright green light, and it was obviously the skin of a venomous snake.
A rough estimate is that the animal that shed this skin was at least twenty feet long.
Harry's heart trembled, and he prayed silently that Ron would come with the professor as soon as possible. He might not be able to make a dessert for the basilisk, and could only serve as a small side dish to accompany the meal.
"Open." The thin black snake opened a solid wall with a low, hoarse hissing sound.
After waiting for a while and figuring they were far away, Harry followed them in.
In the dimly lit room, many stone pillars carved with coiled snakes stood tall to support the ceiling that melted into the darkness above, casting long and eerie black shadows on the entire room which was filled with green and mysterious mist.
Not far ahead, Thin Snake was still explaining Horcruxes to Crabbe: "Most mediocre people think that Horcruxes are extremely evil magic and regard them as taboo. But this is a vulgar idea, just like the Muggles in the Middle Ages believed that all magic was the power of the devil - they were afraid, so they belittled it."
"By killing someone, you can split a part of your soul out, and then seal the fragments of your soul in an object outside your body. This way, even if your body is attacked or destroyed, you won't die."
The words of the thin snake sounded faintly in the secret room like the devil's low hum. His tone was full of unknown sarcasm, "Because there is still a part of the soul left in the world, unharmed."
Harry tried his best to control his breathing, but the thoughts in his mind were like the most turbulent waves in the ocean, constantly surging and making him look dazed.
It turns out that this is Voldemort's secret, and this is why he cannot be killed.
"What does this have to do with knowledge and power?" Crabbe asked in a low voice. He seemed to be shocked by Thin Snake's words.
"Haha," Xishe chuckled twice, "The split soul is not isolated. It still retains a mysterious connection with the main body of the soul."
The thin snake stood up, and its tongue hissed into Crabbe's ear: "I will share the secret of immortality with you - I will place a fragment of my soul in you, and through the mysterious connection between souls, you will be able to master my knowledge and my magic..."
Crabbe asked happily, "Will I become as powerful as you? Will I become the third Dark Lord?"
"Hiss~" The thin snake kept spitting out its tongue.
It was a Parseltongue phrase, and Harry recognized it. The snake had said "idiot!"
A deep chill suddenly surged in his heart... It was fake, the magic and knowledge were fake. Voldemort just wanted to trick Crabbe into cooperating with the ritual and accepting his soul fragment.
What exactly does Voldemort want to do?
Crabbe led the two stiff bodies to the last pair of stone pillars, leaving Colin and Justin at the feet of the Slytherin statue.
It was a statue as tall as the room, with an old, monkey-like face and a long, sparse beard that reached almost to the hem of the wizard's robes carved from stone.
"What do you need me to do?" Crabbe asked excitedly. He couldn't wait to become as powerful as the Dark Lord.
The thin snake slithered from his body to the ground: "You kill one of them--"
"Stop your evil behavior. The righteous Lockhart will never allow you to do this!" A warm, loud and positive voice came from behind.
……
half an hour ago.
Ron's head was sweating profusely, and his red hair became wet and limp on his scalp.
He was running as fast as he could, because every second he lost could mean the death of his roommate, Harry. But things were not going well.
Dumbledore's headmaster's office, he was stopped outside because he didn't know the password.
Professor McGonagall's office was empty.
Professor Flitwick's office, empty.
Even in the Potions office on the first basement level, Snape wasn't there.
"Where are the professors? Where have all the professors gone?" Ron covered his face and wailed in despair. He only had the last option.
He swung his leaden legs to Lockhart's office, and the sound of turning pages in the room made him happy.
Ron pushed the door open and went in, spouting out what had happened in rapid succession: "Professor Lockhart, go save Harry! Crabbe has kidnapped Colin and Justin, and Harry has chased him into the Chamber of Secrets!"
Lockhart, who was writing a letter to Rita Skeeter, raised his head, put down the quill in his right hand, and his eyes flashed with a prying light: "Oh...Mr. Weasley..."
"So Crabbe is the heir to the Chamber of Secrets, you say?" Lockhart asked.
"Yes!" Ron urged eagerly, "Go and save Harry!"
The yellow candlelight in the office was not very bright, and it was only with the reflection of the floor-length mirror at the door that it could barely illuminate the room. The wind from the corridor blew in from outside, causing the candlelight to sway gently.
Lockhart was standing facing the flame core in the mirror. The candlelight in the mirror swayed violently to the right, pulling people's line of sight and making them slightly dazed. Lockhart's head, which had been bent over the desk for a long time, felt dizzy for a moment.
The Adventure of the Secret Chamber...
New book material...
Fame, power, money... countless temptations flashed through his mind, but he suppressed them temporarily and calmly considered the issues of safety and ability.
Lockhart whispered to himself, "Can I handle Crabbe?"
"Think about Crabbe's performance in the Dueling Club. His Shattering Curse rebounded and hit him. The result? Nothing happened."
"Even though he is the heir to the Chamber of Secrets, he is still just a second-year wizard."
"His spells have no power..."
The little wizard in front of him answered softly. Lockhart's pupils dilated slightly. In a trance, he felt that the Weasley in front of him actually looked a bit like Loren.
"What about the monster in the secret room? Can I deal with it?" he asked again.
"You won't be in danger. That monster only has the ability to petrify. Look, no one died in the several attacks."
“What’s more, the monster obeys the orders of the little wizard. As long as we control the little wizard first, there will be no problem…” The bewitching voice was like the whisper of the devil, using the illusion woven by desire to drag people into the abyss of darkness.
The wind stopped, the candle flame no longer flickered, and it calmly released a warm yellow, not bright light.
"Of course! As a professor, I will definitely ensure the safety of my students!"
Lockhart slammed the table excitedly, stood up suddenly, picked up his wand and walked out, "Take me there, hurry up."
Ron scratched his head, wondering why Lockhart, who had been so slow just now, suddenly became so excited.
"Here, this way, the secret room is in Myrtle's bathroom."
The moment the two stepped out of the office, a series of crisp crackling sounds were heard in the room...that was the sound of the mirror shattering.
School doctor's office.
Lauren and Hermione worked together to place Madam Pomfrey on a bed and lifted the stunning spell on her, but it would take some time for her to wake up.
"Ms. Pomfrey was attacked, and the attacker took Colin and Justin away. We must notify the professor as soon as possible!" Hermione's ears stood up, which is the expression of a cat when it is nervous.
Loren pressed the pocket of his magic robe, and Bloody Mary's mirror began to heat up. The illusion left on Lockhart was triggered, which meant that he had access to information about the Chamber of Secrets and the Basilisk.
He reached out and rubbed Hermione's furry head twice: "I'll go inform the professor. The magic in your body is disordered now. Stay here and take care of Madam Pomfrey."
Hermione's cat ears trembled slightly, and she raised her hand to elbow him, saying seriously, "Got it, go inform the professor!"
"it is good."
Loren came out of the school infirmary and without delay came to the monster statue.
"Cockroach pile, licorice magic wand, coconut ice cream, mint candy, pepper urchin..." His mouth kept spitting out a series of candy names.
Not sure which one was right, the wall slowly opened.
Loren took the spiral staircase to the principal's office and pushed the door open. "Principal Dumbledore, Harry has entered the Chamber of Secrets!"
In the room, Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape, Professor Flitwick, and Professor Sprout were sitting around the desk, with Dumbledore sitting in the main seat.
Five people turned to look at him at the same time...
"Stop your evil deeds. The righteous Lockhart will never allow you to do this!"
Lockhart held his wand in one hand and strode forward gracefully. The thick and hard soles of his shoes made loud footsteps that echoed in the empty chamber.
Crabbe and Snake turned their heads at the same time, staring at the three people who appeared behind them.
Ron trotted over to Harry's side, panting heavily. He felt like his legs were about to break.
"How did you find Lockhart? Where are the other professors?" Harry's voice was sad. He felt very cold in his heart and thought that tonight might be bad.
Ron was also helpless: "The other professors are not in the office, so I have no choice but to find him."
Seeing Lockhart getting closer and closer to Crabbe and the thin snake, Harry hurriedly warned: "Professor, be careful, that snake is--"
As he opened his mouth, Lockhart had already waved his wand: "Obliviate!"
The colorless and invisible spell quickly spread from the tip of the wand.
"Tsk, a spell targeting the soul." Voldemort, who was possessed by a thin snake, opened his mouth and spurted out a puff of gray smoke, along with the Oblivion Spell, which sprayed onto Lockhart's face.
The powerful thrust knocked Lockhart flying, and he crashed into a stone pillar and passed out.
Seeing this, Harry gave Ron a bitter look and said, "You might as well go find Loren."
"I was so anxious to find the professor to save you that I didn't think of it."
Chapter 211 Harry and Ron: That's it?
Principal's office.
"Chamber of Secrets! Basilisk!" Professor Sprout exclaimed.
Snape couldn't sit still any longer. He stood up and walked straight to Loren, pulling his robe out, and said briefly and quickly: "Lead the way."
Before Loren could explain anything, he was taken out with a look of surprise on his face.
Several other professors also stood up swiftly and caught up with the two.
Dumbledore fell behind, and he slowly stood up and cast his eyes towards the golden branch. On the branch, Fawkes, a phoenix that had just achieved nirvana and whose hair had not yet fully grown, tilted his head and fluttered his wings slightly.
Seeing that the other professors had left the office, Dumbledore tapped Fawkes's small beak with his finger and said in a voice that only Fawkes could hear: "Go, just make sure they are safe."
Fox rolled his eyes at him, cried softly, spread his wings, and disappeared on the branch with red flames rising from his body.
Dumbledore then slowly caught up with the group.
