Hogwarts doesn't need a savior

"It's just... Oh! Come with me and take a look!" Hermione grabbed Lin En without saying a word and dragged him to the classroom.
Lin En didn't dare to neglect her and could only follow her all the way to the classroom door.
"It looks like everything is fine. Did something happen to you, Hermione?" Lynn looked inside from the door in surprise. The classroom was very dark and quiet during the holidays, and the warning spell did not produce any sound.
From a common sense perspective, nothing should happen.
"No, Professor!" Hermione shook her head in shock and fear. "I heard some weird noises when I was studying here this afternoon. It was really scary!"
As she spoke, she hugged Lin En's right arm, pushed the door open and walked in.
Although Lin En didn't understand, he couldn't refuse, so he could only follow in confused.
In the darkness, he looked around but found nothing unusual.
Suddenly, there was a "bang" sound, and countless unidentified objects rushed out.
"!"
Lynn subconsciously wanted to take out his wand, but found that Hermione was holding his arm tightly. After just a moment of hesitation, his face was covered with magic.
Immediately afterwards, the lights came on, and figures hidden in the darkness rushed down the mountain like tigers and pounced on him.
"Professor! Happy birthday!——"
Amidst the unison shouts, Lynn opened his eyes again and found his entire body covered in magic ribbons, with two beer corks on his head.
Hermione beside him was unable to dodge, but she chuckled and retreated into the crowd.
Lynn looked around in surprise, and saw a dozen little wizards surrounding him with smiles on their faces. Not far away, there was a tempting-looking cream cake floating in the air.
They even used a Disillusionment Charm.
Doris became the leader. Since Percy and Andrew were not there, she took the lead and smiled particularly brightly.
Beside her were Boyce and Cedric, carrying two cylinders from who knows where, with some remnants of ribbons still on them.
Further out were Penelope and several senior students, all familiar faces from clubs and classes.
The ones on the outside were Luna and Neville, standing on the left and right of the gate. The beer corks were their masterpieces.
"Okay, you guys—" Lynn pretended to be shocked and angry, but couldn't control her expression before she finished speaking. She smiled and pulled the little wizards to her side, "I was wondering why Hermione was so weird today. Tell me the truth, whose idea was this?"
"Of course it was me and Doris who suggested it!" Boyce said proudly. "How about it, Professor? Are you surprised?"
The little wizards came forward one after another, their smiling faces shining particularly brightly under the light.
They started planning it long before Christmas. Although Percy and Andrew were unable to participate, they also contributed a lot - these pull-tab ribbons that were obviously laced with ingredients were their masterpieces.
"I knew it was you, kid!" Lin En reached out and poked him on the forehead. "How did you know it was my birthday today? I rarely celebrate my birthday."
"This is all thanks to the all-knowing Miss Granger." Boyce pulled the slightly shy Hermione over, "She found the author's information from your manuscript and told us immediately."
"Ah? It seems to be true..." Lin En thought about it and it seemed to be true. He couldn't help but laugh, "You are observing too carefully. Could it be that you didn't go home for Christmas just because of this?"
"Of course it's not just that!" Doris smiled, "We are preparing for a special training! I solemnly inform you, dear Professor Eric, your winter vacation will end after your birthday!"
“Wow… I’ve only heard of teachers urging students to study, but I’ve never seen anyone take the initiative to seize the teacher’s vacation.” Lin En was quite shocked.
"How about watching you give special treatment to Percy and Andrew?" Doris said with a wicked smile, "Partiality is not allowed."
Following her lead, the little wizards also started to make a noise, and for a moment, the noisy sound completely surrounded Lin En.
"So you're waiting for me here." Lynn looked at Doris and Boyce meaningfully, and raised the corners of his mouth. "Since you took the initiative to deliver it to my door, don't complain. I'll be in the Request Room at 8:30 tomorrow morning."
The cheers of eagerness to try continued for a long time.
In the cheerful crowd, Lin En, who was surrounded by students, waved his hand and said, "Now eat the cake! Your most important task today is to completely destroy this cake!"
-----------------
After many years, the unexpected birthday party added a lot of color to the ordinary day.
Amid the lively gathering, the Magic Words classroom seemed to have returned to its grand opening hours.
It was not until lights-out time that the little wizards, still unsatisfied, reluctantly left, leaving Doris alone to accompany Lynn to clean up the messy classroom.
While cleaning, Doris suddenly remembered something and ran to the corner where she had put her schoolbag to search for it.
"What are you looking for?" Lin En, who was busy piling up garbage bags, turned around and asked, "You didn't prepare a gift, did you?"
"Hey!" Doris ignored him and pulled out a thick book from her bag, followed by a piece of parchment. "This is it!"
She trotted over to Lynn and handed over the thing in her hand like a treasure. "Unfortunately, it's not a gift. Draco Malfoy from our college asked me to pass it on. Is it something good?"
"Malfoy..." Lynn looked at the cover and parchment in surprise, and nodded slightly, "I think it should be a good thing... or a small surprise."
The slightly wrinkled marks tell of the experience of this big book over the past period of time.
Chapter 98 Doubt is the first step
After seeing off Doris, who was curious about the contents of the letter and dealing with the debris at the scene, Lynn returned to the room.
There was a small gift box on his desk, and next to it was a note with the handwriting delicate yet angular.
This is a birthday gift from Euphemia, a modified two-way mirror.
It was lit at the moment, and a hint of gold could be vaguely seen.
But when Lynn moved closer, the mirror suddenly dimmed, and no matter how he fiddled with it, he could not see the scene on the other side.
"It's actually one-way control? Or are you better at playing it..." After exploring in vain, Lin En had no choice but to move the two-way mirror far away to make room for the letters and books.
Perhaps due to his self-esteem, Malfoy was reluctant to hand over the book personally, and instead asked Doris to do it.
To prevent being seen, he cautiously cast a spell on the parchment - although it had no effect on Doris.
But given her personality, she definitely wouldn't do anything like peeking. The most she could do was to pester Lin En to find out the truth.
Thinking of this increasingly lovable assistant, Lynn smiled and shook his head. He tapped his wand and the illusion disappeared.
Judging from the handwriting, Malfoy was not in a very calm mood when he wrote the letter.
Every word seems to be fighting against some unknown force, full of a struggling and contradictory sense.
The content is the same. The inherent arrogance and the new anxiety are entangled between the lines, making this short letter seem like a piece of words put together by you and me, which is very strange to read.
But Lynn was very happy to see it, he saw Draco Malfoy's confusion and his efforts to find answers.
This was the first time he really looked at the world outside of his comfort zone.
Having questions is the starting point of all exploration and search.
Most wizards who believe in the supremacy of pure-blood will never experience this change from 0 to 1 in their lifetime.
Because once you really see the reality, some absurd lies will easily fall apart.
Inherent cognition and new ideas fight each other, just like the battle between angels and demons.
This was destined to be a long process, but the result was obvious - just as Lynn said before we parted last time, people always trust their eyes more than their ears.
Malfoy's current appearance reminded him of an old friend of his, a wizard who also came from a pure-blood aristocratic family.
With emotion and expectation, he hid the words on the parchment, put it in the drawer, and then opened the masterpiece of magic history that recorded the history of wizards in the 19th century.
-----------------
Malfoy did more work than expected.
He did not just leave his comments and thoughts here and there, but left them on almost every page and every important paragraph.
When writing about pure-blood wizards, his writing is full of praise and admiration, and he would even use beautiful wavy lines to mark the achievements and growth experiences of these outstanding wizards.
In the parts about half-blood wizards and Muggle-born wizards, his struggles and growth are vividly reflected.
At first, he always viewed these wizards with suspicion and examined their achievements with a critical eye.
His comments and confusions included questioning and investigation, as well as exploration of the person's growth process. He was not only thinking, but also looking for new documents to support his views.
Then, perhaps because of some discoveries during the investigation, or because he realized the authenticity of these events and characters, his attitude gradually changed.
Preconceived ideas began to fade, and the literature citations became more precise and accurate, showing that hard work had been put in.
In the end, the thin letter paper was stacked between the pages, even seeming to overshadow the main content.
A trajectory from instinctive arrogance to awe and exploration is clearly visible.
For the first time, this proud pure-blood little wizard put aside his prejudices and immersed himself in history in order to find the truth.
At the same time, Lynn could also feel his sorrow and fear.
It is extremely painful to make a teenager believe that there is something wrong with the ideas he has always held as his guiding principles.
It is difficult for unformed thoughts to cope with such an impact, which is almost a collapse and reconstruction of the inner world.
What's even more difficult is that he has always been in an environment dominated by the theory of bloodline, whether it is Malfoy Manor or Slytherin House.
The incomplete settlement after the First Wizarding War left enough fertile ground for the pure-blood theory to take root again after a brief hiatus, and reappear with the support of the current Minister of Magic, Fudge.
The environment shapes people imperceptibly, and Slytherins like Doris who are both ambitious and principled are not the majority.
What comforted Lynn was that, as Snape had said in a private conversation with him, Draco was different from his narrow-minded father. Although he was deeply influenced by his family and pure-blood relatives, he had not been completely assimilated after all, at least not like Marcus Flint.
At least in Lin En's opinion, he still has the possibility of change and growth.
However, he did not intend to intervene too much for the time being, let alone indoctrinate or preach. He just wrote down line after line according to Malfoy's questions under the cover of night and dim lights.
He left the young wizard the key to solving his puzzles - books and papers that contained more historical materials.
For a smart person, the process of finding the answer is the most important, and he will firmly believe in the answer.
Even if it isn't obvious at first, it will take root over time.
As the night deepened, the mirror on the table flickered, and from time to time a wisp of golden hair could be seen.
While Lynn was concentrating, Euphemia quietly activated the two-sided mirror and observed silently from thousands of miles away.
The bright brown eyes showed innate charm and intelligence, and revealed a faint smile.
-----------------
Malfoy also tossed and turned that night.
But he fell asleep in the middle of the night and woke up again before dawn.
Crabbe and Goyle were still snoring incredibly loudly and noisily.
Lack of sleep for many days made him look a little haggard, but he was more worried inside.
He staggered out of bed, and was shocked by the cold air. He subconsciously tightened his clothes and became a little more sober.
Only then did he notice that the book that Senior Sister Toffoli had sent out yesterday had returned to him with a note.
[Mr. Malfoy, I have received your letter. It can be seen that you have conducted in-depth thinking and extensive exploration, which is a good start. Regarding the various questions you raised, I have listed the corresponding literature for your reference. Please believe that raising questions is the first step in growth and is often the most critical step. I wish you all the best. - Lynn Eric]
"Asking questions is the first step to growth..." Malfoy muttered as he held Lynn's text message.
He was hesitating and thinking.
Finally, with mixed emotions, he reopened the thick book that he had been reading day and night for many days.
No matter what the result is, he hopes to find an answer and put an end to the doubts in his heart.
Chapter 99: Teaching by Example (Additional Update)
Although he stayed up all night, Lynn was in good shape.
After taking a sip of the vitality potion and taking about an hour's light sleep before breakfast, he was almost unaffected.
Even at the dinner table, he and Dumbledore, who woke up early for once, had a heated discussion about the Hufflepuff diary.
Dumbledore seemed extremely surprised when he heard Lynn say that Hufflepuff didn't mind the inheritor passing on the knowledge they had learned.
Courage, ambition, and wisdom, the three founders all have clear-cut selection methods, but Hufflepuff seems to be an exception.
"Regardless of contribution and magic power, Ms. Hufflepuff's broad-mindedness is truly admirable." Dumbledore picked up the milk and said solemnly.
“Those who have been illuminated by others know better the joy and value of illuminating others. This is the gift of history.”
Lynn drank the juice in one gulp, then stood up and left.
