It was as if the originally clear pond water was stirred up by someone, causing the mud and sand that should have sunk to the bottom to surge out again.
The delicate little girl, who looked like a doll, pouted her lips. She looked at the excitement below and had no intention of joining in. She did not show her worries to her companions. Although Yun Duo'er was young, she was actually quite mature in many things and did not want others to worry about her.
Everyone on the boat knew that they were able to escape danger under the might of the [God] because Yun Duo'er suddenly burst out with power beyond their expectations. The little girl had a mysterious and wonderful premonition, and she herself could not explain clearly what had happened to her when she faced the [God] Chu Bai.
There was no answer to this kind of thing that was beyond the imagination of ordinary people, so everyone didn't get too entangled. Yun Duoer herself was in high spirits for a while in the first two days after her recovery, until she found that she began to have strange dreams frequently, and then the little girl's mood gradually began to become a little heavy.
After all, the endings of those dreams...are not good endings, but these dreams always make people feel so...real.
Yun Duoer sighed heavily, her delicate eyebrows wrinkled, showing a sadness that did not belong to her age. She lay down on the deck, looking at the sky above her head. Under the comfortable sea breeze and skylight, she gradually felt sleepy, and Yun Duoer felt that her eyelids began to become heavy.
Yun Duoer shook her head vigorously, trying to force herself to wake up from her sleepiness.
In fact, she had not slept well these days. After all, she was disturbed by those annoying dreams, so that every time she closed her eyes, she saw those annoying scenes.
"No... I don't want to sleep..." Yun Duoer muttered softly, but her eyelids were getting heavier and heavier, "What a nasty dream..."
She finally fell asleep, but her expression was not happy or peaceful.
……
The fight in the bathroom did not last long. Of course, if Chu Xiao wanted, he could keep Gu Ke from getting out of bed until lunch. However, Sister Gu was not very good at fighting. After a few rounds, she was left begging for mercy. Although this girl was the oldest, her emotions in this regard were no different from those of a shy young girl.
"Get out, I need to rest." Completely satisfied, Sister Gu blushed and threw the clean clothes she brought on Chu Xiao, covering her naked body with a quilt. "I don't want to lie in bed all day like Su Xin, at least... at least not today!"
"Ah? Is there anything else you need to deal with later?" Chu Xiao put on his clothes, sat at the end of the bed with a wicked smile, and played with Gu Ke's snow-white feet exposed from under the quilt. "Do you want to continue fishing in the afternoon?"
"Do you think I'm a fisherman obsessed with fishing? I have something important to do. I have to be on duty in the captain's room this afternoon. I can't leave it empty all the time."
"Oh, so Sister Gu is our captain. My apologies..."
Gu Ke blushed, raised her bare foot, and playfully touched Chu Xiao's face, but Chu Xiao grabbed her ankle rudely and then gently bit her delicate foot.
"You're going to die..." Gu Ke cursed with a smile, but did not retract his foot. There was an obvious seductive vibrato in his voice, like a moan.
She looked so charming and seductive. Chu Xiao felt that if he stayed in the same room with this woman again, he would turn into a wild beast and pounce on her again. This would never end.
Chu Xiao was struggling when his sister's jealous voice came from outside the cabin: "Brother, does it take so long to take a shower?"
Gu Ke's face suddenly turned red, and she hurriedly drove Chu Xiao out, while she herself needed to take some time to rest.
When Chu Xiao came out of the cabin, she saw her sister with a stern face, and Su Su and Meng Meng were beside her. The three best friends had been waiting at the door since who knows when, and the air was filled with a strong smell of vinegar. Even Miss Su Su was a little jealous at this time - after all, they had just agreed to "date" on the boat together, but Chu Xiao turned around and rolled in bed with Sister Gu.
"Brother," Chu Yan sighed, "I don't mean to ruin your good fortune, but I think you really need to exercise some restraint now. Your body has just recovered, and we don't know whether her fusion will have some other effects on you."
Chu Xiao scratched his head in embarrassment, unable to refute.
Su Muhe walked to Chu Xiao's side at the right time, with a pure and concerned expression on her face: "Brother Xiao, let's go to the infirmary this afternoon, and I will help you check your physical condition."
The ship's infirmary is well-equipped with advanced medicines and equipment, and as Miss Susu is the "nanny" of the team, the infirmary has completely become her territory.
Her tone was gentle and concerned. If Chu Xiao hadn't already known Miss Su Su quite well, he would have really believed that Miss Su Su didn't have any other thoughts...
"Brother, go find out where Yun Duo'er is," Chu Yan changed the subject, "The little girl has been acting a little weird lately. I don't know where she's hiding when I'm not paying attention. I'm a little worried about her."
Upon hearing this, Chu Xiao immediately stopped thinking: "I'll go find her now."
Chu Xiao was really worried after hearing what his sister said. Yun Duoer was the youngest in the team and always showed a kind of cute arrogance and arrogance. To everyone, Yun Duoer was the most important little sister.
After saying that, Chu Xiao touched his sister's head, then pinched the cheeks of the other two girls, and walked away quickly.
There were some places on the ship that Chu Xiao had not visited yet. It was not easy to find a petite and cute girl in such a big ship, but Chu Xiao surprisingly did not spend long to find Yun Duoer.
When the young man arrived at the top sun deck, he saw Yun Duoer lying on her side on the deck. She had fallen asleep, but her expression was not peaceful. On the contrary, Chu Xiao saw a strong sense of uneasiness on Yun Duoer's face.
Tears slid out from the corners of the girl's eyes, and her delicate little face was already full of tear marks.
She cried in her sleep.
Chu Xiao's heart felt like it was stabbed by a knife, and it suddenly hurt.
(ps: I feel like my writing is a bit watery...)
Chapter 9: Dreaming
He didn't know what kind of dream Yun Duoer had, but looking at that little face covered with tear marks, his heart seemed to twitch suddenly and he felt sad for no reason.
"This girl, how could she fall asleep here..." Chu Xiao did not rush to wake up Yun Duoer, but lowered his footsteps and moved closer, bent down, and prepared to pick up the little girl - even though the sun was shining brightly at the moment, it was still very easy to catch a cold sleeping in such a sea breeze.
However, the moment Chu Xiao touched the cloud, he suddenly felt a sense of weightlessness, and then his eyes went dark. In a trance, the scenery in front of him suddenly changed. The clear blue sky and the comfortable sea breeze disappeared, and the boundless blue ocean turned into a broken ruin full of broken walls. The air was filled with the stench of burnt meat.
In just a moment, Chu Xiao went from his peaceful and happy daily life at sea to a devastated and hopeless doomsday wasteland.
He was not panicked. The adventures he had experienced over the past long period of time, coupled with the transformation brought about by the virus, had given him a heart of steel.
Although the surrounding environment was extremely realistic, he could still feel that there was an invisible fog between himself and this environment.
This was not the first time he had experienced a similar situation. Not long ago, Chu Bai had greeted him in this way.
...This is a dream.
"Chu Bai, is that you?" Chu Xiao raised his head and asked loudly towards the sky in his dream.
There was no answer, and the pure white sister did not show up.
Chu Xiao had a vague judgment that the current situation might not be Chu Bai's doing. This overly real scenery was not a dream created by Chu Bai, nor even his dream - although they had been together for a short time, after all, they were in a relationship where you were in me and I was in you, plus Chu Bai's personality memory was almost copied from Chu Yan, so Chu Xiao actually knew Chu Bai very well.
Judging from the style of the number two sister, if she really wanted to create a dream of meeting Chu Xiao, she would never make it so depressing. She would probably really create some classic scenes like "an empty classroom after school" or "a closed warehouse for sports equipment".
Chu Xiao still remembered the memory before he fell into this dream. He was about to pick up the sleeping Yun Duoer and send her back to the room.
——So, this is actually Yun Yatou’s dream?
Chu Xiao's heart suddenly tightened, and he suddenly thought of Yun Duo'er's tear-stained sleeping face. Judging from the scene now, that girl was probably not having a sweet dream.
He immediately quickened his pace and walked through the ruins. The surroundings seemed very quiet, the whole city seemed to be dead, and there were several black smokes not far away. Chu Xiao walked a little closer and could see that there were piles of corpses burning. The air was filled with a pungent smell, and the miserable situation around made the world look like hell.
"Yun Duoer! Where are you!" Chu Xiao shouted as he walked.
He knew that he had to find the stubborn little girl as soon as possible. This damn nightmare was definitely not the place where she should be.
Chu Xiao's voice echoed among the ruins, and was gradually swallowed up by the huge silence. However, no one responded. He was out of tune with the entire dream, just an insignificant bystander. The sound he deliberately made did not attract anything, whether it was a person or a monster.
He didn't know why he entered Yun Duo'er's dream when he came into contact with her, but it was probably related to Chu Bai in his body. Of course, Yun Duo'er herself had many incredible things. Previously on the Nibelungen, Yun Duo'er was even able to confront Chu Bai, who was a [God], and cut off Chu Bai's connection with the God's body when she was at a disadvantage.
Chu Xiao still remembers hearing Chu Bai say these words before he fell into a coma:
——"You are outside of destiny."
Suddenly, in Chu Xiao's peripheral vision, he seemed to see a petite elf-like figure flash by.
At the same time as the figure disappeared, he heard screams, cries, and cries from afar, and the silence in his dream was suddenly broken. Chu Xiao immediately rushed to the source of the sound. He saw a large number of zombies surging in the ruins. A place similar to the survivors' base seemed to be breached by zombies. Countless zombies rushed into the base frantically. The survivors fought hard to resist and escape, but fell one by one.
Countless zombies and living people ran past him and fell down. He was a bystander in this dream and could not change anything.
A young man led a group of people and rushed out of the breached base. Chu Xiao discovered that he had seen this leading man before.
It was the college student named "Zhang Zhan" whom Chu Xiao had met before. Zhang Zhan in the dream seemed to be more mature than in Chu Xiao's memory. He bravely broke through with a group of survivors, looking like a leader. But now, he was not accompanied by the girl named Dian Yihan.
"Go!" He commanded everyone to fight against the zombies and flee away from the base. His posture seemed as if there was something more terrifying than zombies in the base.
Finally, they successfully broke through and got a chance to catch their breath.
"Brother Zhan! Xiao Duo'er is missing!" Before Zhang Zhan could relax, a member of the team ran over with a panicked look.
Zhang Zhan's expression suddenly changed: "How could this happen!"
"Maybe the situation was too chaotic just now and she got lost..."
A woman who was escorted out said weakly: "I...I seemed to see her running back again..."
Zhang Zhan punched the wall and said anxiously: "I'll go get her back!"
However, he was held tightly by his companions, and he knew that running back now would just be a meaningless act of suicide.
"How should I explain this to him?" Zhang Zhan could only growl in self-blame and pound the wall desperately to vent his emotions.
This scene was seen completely by Chu Xiao, a bystander. The "Xiao Duo'er" they were talking about should be Yun Duo'er, but he didn't know who the "he" Zhang Zhan was talking about was.
The huge gap in the shelter wall seemed to lead to a bottomless abyss, which gave him a very bad feeling. Chu Xiao turned around and walked towards the gap in the shelter.
Zombies were eating the living, and everywhere was dirty blood and broken limbs. Chu Xiao stepped on the blood and flesh on the ground and walked step by step into this strange survivor base.
For some reason, the building in this dream seemed... somewhat familiar to him.
The bad premonition in his heart became stronger and stronger, and Chu Xiao could not help but speed up his pace, gradually turning into a full-speed run. His footsteps splashed blood on the ground, kicked away broken limbs, and his eyes unconsciously became anxious and irritable.
"Yun Duoer! Yun girl! Are you in there?" Chu Xiao shouted loudly while running.
The man stopped walking abruptly when he heard crying.
It was a heart-wrenching cry and a desperate roar.
This scene finally appeared in front of Chu Xiao. He stood inside the survivors' base. Yun Duo'er was right in front of him, but her appearance was slightly larger than what he remembered. She was still the same delicate and lovely little girl, but her clothes were not as nice and clean as he remembered, and were now stained with blood.
And in the arms of this "Cloud Duoer", Chu Xiao saw "himself".
Or rather, it was the body of a man named "Chu Xiao". Only half of his body was left, with the entire lower half missing. All the blood seemed to have drained out from the body.
Chu Xiao suddenly felt that he had difficulty breathing. The scene before him made it impossible for him to continue to remain a bystander, as if "death" had really happened to him.
The next moment, in his peripheral vision, the petite figure like an elf flashed by again...
(ps1: I didn't have time to check it, if there are any mistakes or omissions, I will correct them in the thread)
(PS2: I originally planned to write about Yun Duoer’s dream in the previous chapter, but later I thought that it would be more interesting to write from Chu Xiao’s perspective)
Chapter 10: The Fall
Chu Xiao followed the peripheral vision and chased after the girl. At that moment, his dream was suddenly shattered and the feeling of weightlessness came over him again. When he came to his senses, the surrounding environment suddenly changed and had become a completely different scene.
This seemed to be the interior of a large building. He was standing in a long corridor. The lights on the ceiling flickered and gradually extended into the distance.
Chu Xiao covered his chest and felt very uncomfortable. He saw "his own" death in the dream, but it was so real that it was unbelievable, as if such a tragic death had really happened to him.
This situation was obviously very unusual, and he became more and more certain that the current situation could not be simply regarded as a dream.
Although the changed scene is no longer a horrific situation with corpses everywhere, the whole environment seems very depressing, with dim lights, narrow corridors, old and dark colors, and no windows on the walls, so you can't see the outside world. The surrounding walls seem to be squeezed in at any time, giving people a suffocating feeling of oppression.
"Why does this little girl always dream about such uncomfortable things?"
He felt that such a place would not be out of place in a horror movie.
Chu Xiao walked forward along the corridor, and he could vaguely feel that something was waiting for him ahead. The feeling of uneasiness was very strong, but Chu Xiao had no choice.
After walking for a distance, Chu Xiao saw the body lying on the ground.
He was not surprised. In such a bad atmosphere, it would be strange if he could not see any corpses. The number of corpses increased, and Chu Xiao could not find a place to stay. The smell of blood in the air became stronger and stronger, so strong that it was nauseating. Chu Xiao found that some of the corpses were wearing uniform clothes, black and red, as if stained with blood. He realized that this place seemed to be the base of a certain organization.
Cult?
Chu Xiao had some doubts in his heart, but he couldn't be sure.
As he gradually approached the depths of the corridor, monster-like corpses began to appear on the ground. These corpses were hideous and strange, with various shapes, just like the sudden arrival of the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons in horror stories.
Among this huge number of corpses, Chu Xiao even saw many bloody giant rats. Their bodies were larger than what he remembered, and their faces were even more ferocious.
Finally, this long corridor reached the end, and Chu Xiao stopped in front of a door. On both sides of the door were two strange statues, whose images were indescribable, vaguely like two giant rats, which made people feel disgusted.
Chu Xiao pushed aside the corpse blocking the door and was about to open it when he heard crying coming from behind the door.
His movements paused for a moment and he sighed inaudibly.
He could probably guess what he would see behind the door. The crying voice was clearly that of a young girl, which he was quite familiar with.
Chu Xiao pushed open the door, and a huge space appeared in front of him. It was a room like a palace. The corpse of a huge monster occupied almost half of the space, and the surrounding walls were covered with dried blood cocoons.
The corpses in this room were even denser than those in the corridor, bloody giant rats, hideous and twisted mutant monsters, and fully armed human soldiers. All the corpses looked extremely miserable and scattered, with blood and flesh mixed together, and it was impossible to tell which part belonged to humans and which part belonged to monsters.
In this damned place that is like a hell of flesh and blood, there is only one living person.
"As expected...is that so..." Chu Xiao whispered to himself.
In the center of the hall, there was a pretty and delicate girl. Chu Xiao could recognize her at a glance. The girl was Yun Duo'er. She looked older now, probably around the age of a high school student. Her original immaturity had faded, and she had grown into a truly stunning beauty.
She collapsed on the ground, crying extremely sadly and desperately.
