"I dreamed that you were gone."
"Left you?"
She was silent for a moment, then said softly, "...dead."
Chen Yin didn't say anything.
"I dreamed that I was the only one left in Yushan, only Wuyuhua was left. I dreamed that I was the only one left in the whole world, and there was no sound anywhere."
"I dreamed that you and Xiang'er turned into smoke and dust in front of my eyes. I couldn't save you and could only watch you disappear like that."
...just like many years ago.
"When I woke up, I was really a little scared." She quietly shrank into the quilt.
Chen Yin lowered his eyes silently.
"A nightmare is just a nightmare. It won't become reality."
"None of us will leave. That's what I said." He gently rubbed his master's smooth forehead.
The master rarely resisted with a grimace, but obediently let him touch his little head with his eyes drooping.
"You little brat...why don't you hurry up and enter the Taiqing Realm?"
“It’s not like I can break through just because I want to.”
"But, I can't wait any longer."
Chen Yin blinked.
"What are the benefits of entering Taiqing?"
"No good. It's just time for you to do what you have to do."
She whispered, "It has to be done quickly. Otherwise, I'm afraid something might go wrong."
Chen Yin thought about it and said, "If there is a reward, maybe I will be more motivated to break through."
"...What reward do you want?" The master's eyes became alert again and stared at him warily.
"The reward I want may be a little inappropriate for a child like you."
Upon hearing this, Master became even more nervous and shrank back.
However, Chen Yin took advantage of the situation and leaned forward.
If the master retreats again, he will lean forward again.
When she had no way to retreat, Chen Yin simply reached out and touched her forehead.
The master closed his eyes in fear, and opened them cautiously after a moment.
"...I want to hear your story."
"W-what story?"
"Everything." Chen Yin lowered his eyes, "All the stories I don't know."
The master bit his lip and slowly looked away: "No need for me to tell you. You will know it yourself when the time comes."
"Then let me hear you tell me about the interesting things you have encountered over the years."
Chen Yin said seriously: "You can tell me anything until I have heard enough."
The master covered his forehead and couldn't help but mutter, "What kind of reward is this for a kid?"
"Just treat me like a kid asking for candy."
"In exchange," Chen Yin thought for a moment and said, "I can also tell you a lot of my stories."
"…What's the story? Is it good?"
"It's not good. It might be boring. I won't tell you if you don't want to hear it."
But the master grabbed his sleeve again: "I want to listen."
"Then go to sleep now."
Chen Yin covered her with the quilt and tucked in the corners. Then he turned around and stopped before leaving.
"Also. Put this next to your bed."
The master looked at him curiously as he took out a small round ball with a cushioned square box underneath.
"what is this?"
"Light." Chen Yin said.
Then, with a light press, the ball emitted a soft milky white light.
The master was stunned for a moment, muttering, "It's not as useful as the night pearl." But his eyes never left the spherical lamp.
"This lamp has a lifespan. If it doesn't work, I'll replace it for you."
"It has a lifespan? What can this thing be used for? Can it only provide light? Then why doesn't your master use the Night Pearl?"
Chen Yin just turned away without leaving a trace.
"…Because it can keep you from having nightmares."
The master fell silent.
In the dim bedroom after the candlelight was turned off, there was only this small round lamp, emitting a soft moonlight.
Master suddenly felt his heart calm down. Being illuminated by the light, he felt like being caressed by someone.
I don't feel like drinking as much anymore.
I don't have so many nightmares anymore.
Not so unhappy anymore.
She slowly closed her eyes: "...Not bad."
Seeing that she didn't hate him, Chen Yin finally closed his eyes and closed the door before leaving.
"……Good night."
(Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. I will have a little rant later, welcome to come and chat.)
牢骚
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, my family. This is just a small chat for me.
There is always someone lively.
People who live a lively life will have a rich life, will have close care from their family, will have friends to hang out with during holidays, and will have their partners to take care of them in every possible way.
There are always people who are lonely. For example, I am still sitting here typing and chatting with you during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
I ate a mooncake today.
I opened one but didn't want to finish it, so I just cut a small piece.
I was in a very low mood the past two days, and fell into great pain and struggle. Everything was not ideal, and I felt the pressure of life for the first time.
I wonder if the money I earn is enough for rent. I wonder what to eat to save money. I hesitate about the games I want to buy.
You will start living on your own like an adult.
But I suddenly broke down two days ago and couldn’t sleep all night.
So I asked for leave two days ago.
Then I saw some people in the comments saying that I always find all kinds of high-sounding excuses to ask for leave.
I want to say that I actually never made excuses. I just told you directly that I needed leave.
So I sat looking at that comment for a whole night, and finally replied
"You can scold me, but before you scold me today, can you wish me a happy Mid-Autumn Festival?"
It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to, I’ll just wish you a happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
People who write novels are always sensitive and sentimental. Sometimes they are vulnerable and emo for no apparent reason. I can do that, and so can He Xue.
I couldn't find the problem until I read the closing remarks of He Xue's new book today.
"I still think there is one thing that an author cannot lack."
"enthusiasm."
"If you're not satisfied with the things you make, or if you don't like them, then it's boring."
I know I am gradually losing this enthusiasm.
I mentioned in my remarks that I have gradually started writing stories that I don’t like that much. If I can’t get what I want to write, any action I take will only kill my passion.
I must admit that these two books have almost worn out my enthusiasm.
I actually like the current version of "System Fairy" quite a bit. Strictly speaking, it's still the story I like and the one I'd like to write next.
I like the story about Master very much, but it will probably take some time to write.
I just like it a lot, but it's still a long way from being a story that I would be happy to write.
There was a period of time before when I was also caught up in emo and I couldn’t quite find my direction.
I also talked about this with Hexue and others when we were drinking. Hexue told me that he liked his new book very much because now that he had a guaranteed income, he could finally write the stories he liked without restraint.
I admit, I'm envious to death.
The feeling of having your favorite story recognized by others is absolutely the best.
Some time ago, I wrote a short story in the group. It tells the love story of an ordinary poor child who ran away from home and a working girl, without tall, handsome and rich men, rich women and golden fingers.
I suddenly felt very happy that day. It dawned on me that maybe this was the kind of story I wanted to write.
Maybe it won’t be long, maybe I won’t make any money at all, but I have indeed found the same joy I had when I first started writing a book.
So I wanted to write that short story.
For nothing else.
So that in the future on festivals like Mid-Autumn Festival, I can find some comfort for my emo self.
Well, I have finished eating the mooncakes. Thank you for listening to me for so long. I will repay you with three updates tomorrow.
Two little things at the end.
First, if you are still following the updates of this book, please sign in the comment section. This will be a motivation for the author and will make him very happy.
Second, I welcome you to scold me. You can say that my writing skills have declined, the plot is boring, and the character design is broken.
But today.
Today only.
Before you scold me, could you wish me a happy Mid-Autumn Festival?
It doesn't matter if you don't wish me. I will wish you first.
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
One hundred and sixty-eight, Sarilang
The next day, when Chen Yin ran to find his master again early in the morning, he opened the door and saw his master sitting at the head of the bed with his face covered in deep thought.
Seeing Chen Yin coming in, she asked seriously, "I'm thinking about a question."
"Tell me, is it faster to reopen it on the spot? Or is it faster to kill all of you who know about it?"
"Or do you have any other way to make yesterday's events disappear from this world?"
Chen Yin thought about it and said, "Why don't you just reopen it yourself?"
"But before you reopen, can you please say hello to them first? They have been waiting for you all day."
The master looked serious one second, but suddenly started crying the next.
"Wow... I was seen drunk yesterday. How can I face people? My reputation as the Immortal Yu Ling has been ruined!"
You have a shitty reputation, Chen Yin complained in his heart.
"It's all your fault! Didn't you even tell us in advance that you were bringing your girlfriends here?"
"Don't be so mean. Luoluo is the only one in here who is my prospective wife. The rest are just here to visit."
