Chapter 20: The Twisted Crow

"JhonD?"

"I've never heard of this name. Did this guy named JhonD do anything to you?" Krau turned around, leaned against the railing, and took out a slender cigarette from his jacket pocket. "You don't seem to be in a good mood. Would you like one?"

"I don't smoke," Green replied.

"Tobacco is very expensive in Ark."

“I won’t smoke no matter how expensive it is.”

"Really? You really have principles."

Krau lit the cigarette in his hand, put it between his lips, and asked, "What were you looking at just now? The Ark's elevator? Or were you sighing for the unfortunate person who was sent to the surface?"

Green glanced sideways at Krau. The face covered in thick smoky makeup made him feel a little uncomfortable. "My thoughts should have nothing to do with you, right?"

Krau didn't answer, but instead asked another question: "Since we're here for consultation, we should get to know each other better."

"Besides, you don't look very well mentally right now."

"It's none of your business," Green said.

"Don't say anything that has nothing to do with me. I understand how you feel."

"As a human being, you must be furious to see your descendants being driven to despair by the central government and Nikki."

"That's your idea." Green glanced at Krau and said coldly, "Don't impose your ideas on me."

"So you don't agree with my point of view? That's quite interesting." Krau showed some interest in Green. She exhaled a puff of smoke and suddenly asked, "In that case, let me ask you another question."

"Let me ask you, who do you think is being persecuted, Nikki or humans?"

"Niki."

Green's answer without hesitation gave Krau pause.

Then, she took the cigarette out of her mouth and asked, "Have you ever been to school?"

Green lost his patience: "I'm definitely more educated than you."

Krau grinned. "The teacher at the military academy should have told you that Nikki isn't human, but just a consumable tool in human skin. Why do you think a tool would be persecuted?"

Green frowned. "They are not tools."

Krau smiled. "In your eyes, Nikki isn't just a tool? Oh, so what? Can you change the discriminatory attitude of most people on the Ark towards Nikki? Can you get the Ark Central to change its policy and grant human rights to a bunch of recyclable scrap metal?"

"Obviously, you can't do that?"

"If the Ark is an abyss, then you are a frog floating on the surface of the water. You can do nothing but watch the water rise higher and higher, and deeper and deeper."

"And one day, you too will be drowned and swallowed by this pool of water, finally falling into darkness and becoming one of them."

"..."

"Is that your point?"

Green smiled faintly, but a hint of contempt flashed in his eyes: "A sociopathic terrorist who blew up a train and attacked civilians is qualified to comment on me?"

"Lower your head and look at this outpost."

"Who do you think turned this place into a resting place for Nikkis? Who do you think is trying to get benefits and more resources for them?"

"it's me."

"I fought desperately on the ground, just to have more say in the Ark and improve their situation."

"Not only that."

"In every combat report I write, my Nikki receives extremely high praise. I never take credit for myself; I only want to secure opportunities for them to upgrade to more advanced weapons and bodies."

"And you said that someone like me would one day be corrupted by the Ark's higher-ups?"

"You are so childish, Krau."

Green turned around, his sharp eyes like a knife, cutting through Krau's heart.

"While I was fighting for everything I could for Nikki, what did you do?"

"You're sitting on a soft sofa and judging me? You're holding your phone and criticizing me anonymously?"

"Klau, you can criticize me as loudly as you want, but what can I do about it?"

"Do you think that ridiculing me will bring me down? Do you think criticizing me will erase my ideals of protecting them?"

"I'm telling you, you'll never be able to do it."

Green turned his back, and in the dim light, his shadow swallowed up Krau like a giant.

"I will continue along my path, even if it is an arduous battle, a cause that requires me to devote my entire life to. I have only one answer."

"I never regret it, and I never look back."

boom!

The door to the rooftop was slammed shut.

Green is gone.

Krau looked at the iron gate. She was silent for a while, then suddenly stretched out her hand and reached for the iron railing that Green had been leaning on.

The iron rod still has some residual warmth.

You could even say the temperature is scorching hot.

Krau stared at the iron bars. She thought her heart had died in the long-term oppression, and all that remained was revenge on Ark: to provoke Nikki, kill civilians, and turn everything in the world into chaos.

But at this moment, this madman who had already given up hope was stirred by Green's words.

"Counterattack force, Green..."

Krau raised his palm and silently recited Green's name.

At the moment when Green turned around, she felt a boiling desire that she had not felt for a long time. She wanted to kill, to destroy, to possess, to watch the pure ideals degenerate into a corrupt appearance no different from her own, and to admire the distorted faces of heroes who died and villains who were born.

Is this love, hate, or jealousy?

Or some more bizarre emotion?

Krau didn't know it, but a person's mark had been engraved in her heart.

"Green, Green..."

"You are such an interesting man. If I had met you a dozen years earlier, I would have joined your team without hesitation, just like those girls who surrounded you, longing to be saved by you one day."

"But unfortunately, I don't need you to be my hero right now, and I don't need you to save me."

"I am already corrupt blood in the mire, and I only want to completely pollute and defile your pure heart."

"hehe..."

Krau threw away the cigarette butt, and a twisted and ostentatious smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

How long had it been since she laughed so heartily?

Maybe it’s been a long time.

It had been so long that even she herself almost forgot that besides revenge, there were such interesting things in this world.

"Green, as long as I see your distorted expression, as long as I see your fallen appearance, even if I were sent to a rehabilitation center to be scrapped and destroyed, I will never feel any regret in my life."

"So, how can I make such a noble hero degenerate into a vile and shameless villain like me?"

"I have to go back and think of a plan."

"A perfect plan."

Krau muttered to himself as he walked down the stairs.

There was no one on the lonely rooftop, only a wisp of cigarette ash burning on the ground.

Chapter 21 A strong music sounded

The ancient Greek god of sleep once said, "When you get stuck on NIKKE, go to sleep."

After returning to the command room, Green probably fell asleep in a daze.

In the dream, accompanied by a burst of powerful music, four blurry figures suddenly appeared in front of Green's bed.

Although he was not sure about the origin of this old song, a strange feeling suddenly appeared. Green opened his eyes and saw four Nikkis wearing very little cloth. Their obscene eyes, sick smiles, and strong and domineering movements were definitely the heavy and lowly women among the Nikkis.

"My dear, are you already impatient?"

"Brother, you smell so good."

"I'm new here. I rushed here as soon as I finished work. Didn't wait long?"

"Commander, what are you doing?!"

Nikki's figure was blurry, but she could vaguely make out Isabelle, Rapunzel, Yang, and Privati.

Green looked at the four Nikkis and his heart trembled slightly.

If I let the four people in front of me hug me, it would be even more terrifying than fighting the Tyrant-level Letcher!

Green wanted to struggle, but although he was conscious, his body could not move.

"Oh, dear brother, look, you are covered with strong muscles~"

"Hiss—the smell on you is so strong, so powerful!"

"Darling, please guide us~"

I don’t know which Nikki came closest, but she plopped down on the edge of Green’s bed.

Green struggled for a moment, and finally felt some strength returning to his body, so he shouted, "Lavi! Help me!"

"commander?"

A familiar voice came from my ear.

Green opened his eyes again in a daze, and what came into view was the early morning light of the outpost and Rabi's worried face.

Green held his groggy forehead and asked, "Ravi, when did you come?"

"Because today is the day Marianne returns to the team, I came here early. The commander just called my name. Is there something wrong?"

"Nothing, just a nightmare. Maybe I've been under too much pressure lately. I always feel a little heavy when I sleep. Is it my imagination?"

"Ah, this must not be your illusion. It's Anis and Nian who are pressing on you."

Green sat up in bed.

As soon as he looked up, he saw Anis and Nian each moved a chair and lay down beside the bed, one resting her head on his chest, the other on his arm, drooling and sleeping soundly.

No wonder Green always felt like he was being sleep-deprived just now.

It turns out you two were playing tricks here.

Rabbi said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Commander."

"Because today is a very special day, I woke them up very early, and then Anis and Nian clamored to catch up on their sleep, so they lay on your bed..."

Green sighed and shook his head: "It's okay, just wake me up next time."

Rabi shook his head. "Commander, you are human after all. You have been running around for us recently. If you don't get enough rest, you might develop various diseases."

"Before President Ingrid arrives, you can get some sleep."

"Then let me take a nap for a while."

Green closed his eyes and took a short nap.

Lavi reached out and grabbed Anis and Nian's shoulders, trying to shake them awake.

"Wake up, Anis, Nian."

"Because you were lying on top of the commander, he had a nightmare."

"Hoo--Commander, stop pouring. I can't drink any more carbonated water~"

"Firepower, firepower, is this Master's missile-like firepower? Wait a minute, Master, where are you going to put that firepower?"

Rabi looked at the two pretending to sleep, his face speechless. "If you two continue pretending to sleep and disturbing the commander's rest, I will ask the commander to reduce the amount of carbonated water and snacks this month."
