"He died of a stroke."

"I pulled the letter from my pocket and read it carefully. His image seemed to appear before my eyes. The old man who always smiled and patiently taught me was right before my eyes. His death was not a surprise to me, but my heart is extremely heavy at this moment. As a magus, death is just a part of life."

"At his tombstone, I formally took the oath, but I only uttered the first word."

"When I became a doctor, I made a solemn promise: to devote my life to serving humanity."

"I still can't express all my vows."

……

"I returned to my tribe and told them I understood my responsibilities and mission as a magician. I told them I would continue to fulfill my duties as the tribe leader."

"The tribesmen's expressions didn't change much. Some simply lowered their heads, as if silently accepting what had happened. I could sense their distrust, even a faint hostility, but it didn't matter. Whether they believed it or not, fate had already reached this point, and they had no choice. I took a deep breath, feeling the responsibility on my shoulders grow heavier. They will never know that half a month ago, I personally ended Dad's life. No matter what, they still had no other choice; in the end, it had to be me."

"This is the last plunder of South America, I swear."

……

"It's cloudy today, so I can't see the moon. It's a shame. I really enjoy appreciating the moon at night."

"I sat by the door of our hut, gazing at the sky, reminiscing about the past. The moon should have been very round tonight, but unfortunately, the thick clouds completely obscured the moonlight. During my imprisonment, I always loved gazing at the stars in this open space. All my worries and pain seemed to dissipate temporarily."

"But tonight, the moonlight has no place with me."

"I've finished reading the novel I bought before returning to my hometown. It's truly a magnificent work."

"The mirror-like town of Macondo will be swept from the ground by a hurricane and completely erased from people's memory. Everything recorded in the parchment manuscript will never be seen again, and the family that suffered a hundred years of loneliness is destined not to appear on earth again."

"I understand the author's resentment. It's the One Hundred Years of Solitude brought about by Western colonizers, and that loneliness is precisely our sin. The author's state of mind when he wrote this is completely different from my current state of mind, but at this moment, I feel that this sentence is so appropriate."

"A family that has endured a hundred years of solitude is destined never to appear on earth a second time."

"The rains of Macondo washed away people's memories, erasing the lives of more than 3,000 people. No one remembered the sins committed by the banana company."

"The Spanish invaders will eventually pay the price. The sin that flows in our blood must end tonight."

"Only José Arcadio Segundo remembered clearly the tragedy of it all."

"And he will eventually perish with the destruction of Macondo and be forgotten by everyone."

Volume 52: Symbiosis: . Those Who Deserve to Be Forgotten

"The bloodstains left on the clan land are difficult to clean up. It's a bit tiring."

"The air was heavy, and the air was filled with the smell of blood. I looked down at my sleeves, still stained with blood. Fatigue spread from my limbs, and I felt completely powerless. Cleaning up bloodstains is no easy task, and in this environment, my heart felt even heavier."

"Even though we did it under cover of darkness, there were always some people who were awake. When they resisted, blood splattered all over me. It was really annoying."

"I thought I could accomplish this quietly and easily, but there were always a few restless souls who couldn't sleep. I felt the blade slice through their bodies, blood splattering, instantly staining my clothes and arms red. The bloody smell made me feel a little nauseous, but I knew it had to be done, and I had a clear conscience. But every time someone resisted, I only felt more irritated, and my movements became more hurried, no longer as cautious as I had been at the beginning."

"But it doesn't matter if they resist. I'll first deal with the elders who are most likely to have hidden the Yavarinti Extract. Even if the rest of them wake up later, they won't be able to resist."

"Without the blood of God, they are nothing more than ordinary people. Brandishing those simple ceremonial garments, they pose no threat. And I am no longer the childish magus of my youth whose chants were interrupted by ordinary people with sticks."

"There are still a few people outside the clan who are in contact with other South American magic families. Let's find some time to have them return to the clan and deal with them."

"I've finished everything. I'm so tired. I'll take a nap after writing this."

……

"Thinking carefully, I could have chosen a simpler, more efficient method, such as poisoning them, or controlling them with hypnosis. I wouldn't even need to use any magic at all, just adding some slow-acting poison to the tribe's water source, and within a few months, these people would die silently. Even the entire tribe's situation could be quietly changed without anyone noticing. But why do I have to do it myself, eliminating them one by one?"

"Why should I choose to deal with them one by one myself?"

"I put my pen down on the table and stared at the paper in my hand, but I had no answer in my heart. I couldn't figure it out. Could it be that these people held some special meaning to me? This heaviness wasn't due to physical fatigue, but more of a spiritual emptiness. I felt like I had lost something, and I could no longer make decisions without hesitation like I did when I was younger. I began to doubt whether I really should have chosen this path. Perhaps deep down, I didn't want to face this question."

"I sighed, too lazy to think about it. Perhaps the roots of these emotions were planted when I made the decision to kill my father. At that time, there was no turning back. Having chosen this path, there is no easy way back. Now, all responsibilities and burdens are on my shoulders, and I no longer have the opportunity to regret. All I can do is keep moving forward. The emptiness and numbness brought about by this decision will not dissipate with time."

"No matter what, there's no turning back. When I made that decision and ended my father's life with my own hands, I said goodbye to the past once and for all. I can never go back to being the young magus who cherished ideals and aspirations. The scalpel can no longer touch, and the warmth and ideals in my heart have long since vanished."

"Even though I accomplished a lot today, I still feel a sense of emptiness. All I can think about is what to do next. After dealing with these people, I should also check on the ORT's expansion and make sure everything is as expected."

……

"The outer perimeter has expanded by a full thirty kilometers, so I'm sure the core area has expanded by about the same length."

"Even if we stop plundering Yavalindi, ORT's surrounding environment won't be able to repair itself. Trying to stop this vicious cycle without external intervention is nothing short of a pipe dream."

"The simplest approach is to find a way to reduce the ambient magic concentration, but the problem is, this place doesn't have any barriers, and the magic concentration in the periphery decays very smoothly. If we want to reduce the ambient magic concentration, we have to build a magic transmission chain that's at least five kilometers long..."

"If I can do this, why would I still be locked up here for over ten years?"

"But no matter what, we still have to give it a try."

……

"Good news! I've managed to temporarily transfer the high-concentration mana through the barrier to a lower-concentration area. I've also redesigned the barrier so that it can utilize the surrounding mana to operate autonomously."

"However, as the magic power delivery system activated, I finally realized a fatal flaw. Although I had forced more magic power into that low-concentration area, it triggered an unstable reaction. These algae didn't reproduce in a low-magic environment, but after the magic power was forced in, they suddenly became active. Through reproduction and respiration, these algae actually began to accelerate the recovery of magic power in the low-concentration area, gradually transforming it into a high-concentration area. This process suddenly made me understand why these algae hadn't spread throughout the Amazon forest. They couldn't grow and reproduce in a low-magic environment, but once the magic concentration was right, they would spread like a tide. My efforts were ultimately in vain."

"Totally useless. Another two years wasted."

"It seems that the only way to control the concentration of magic power is to restore the population of Yavalinti. Otherwise, I can't think of any way to directly destroy this excess magic power."

"Magic power is a precious resource for a magus, but I'm worried about having too much magic power, haha..."

……

"It seems that the Yavalinti must ingest crystals from the ORT core area to reproduce, which is why they actively nibble on the crystals rather than just nibbling on algae."

"I started considering a new approach. If we could control their food source in an artificial environment and isolate their reproduction from external interference, perhaps we could protect the insects from external forces like thunderstorms and successfully cultivate a stable population. However, the problem remains complex."

"But the problem is, how do I get those crystals? Any creature that comes into contact with them will be quickly transformed into crystals... Only those with a high enough concentration of mana in their bodies can resist this phenomenon to a certain extent."

"Raise the concentration of magic power in my body to the same level as those bugs? I'll die then."

"If I want to cultivate these artificially, I have to find a way to obtain these crystals, but I have no way of entering the ORT core area. It is a demonic realm that even top-ranked magicians are forbidden to enter."

"I have to think of a way to stop violating my rights."

"Let's take a break first," Xing Qingyu abruptly interrupted his work. He casually put down his pen, stretched, and leaned back slightly, as if his eyes were a little sore from reading for too long. "After reading for so long, everyone must be hungry—"

"--Miss Patricia, can you cook?" Xing Qingqiu's tone was unexpectedly calm, as if he was asking a simple question. He picked up a few scattered folders from the table next to him, closed them casually, and continued to flip through the contents of his diary, his eyes no longer focused on the other person.

Patricia was stunned for a moment, clearly not expecting Xing Qingyu to ask such a question. She looked up at him, her brows raised slightly. "Uh, I know a little..." She was a little slow to react, her tone a little confused. "What's wrong?"

Xing Qingfeng paused, his gaze still fixed on his diary, but he seemed somewhat relaxed. "I'm tired of dry food. Could you please make me something hot?" he asked, turning to the next page, seemingly unconcerned about the abruptness of his request.

"..." She sighed softly, a complex emotion revealed between her brows. "There's no need to send me away..."

"—I think I've guessed what the food I ate a few days ago was made of."

"Really?" Xing Qingyu nodded and continued to flip through the diary to the next time point.

"I tried to control the animals filled with magic power to go in and out, but they crystallized as soon as they stepped in, and there was no chance to control them to come out."

"But this is the limit of what I can do. I went to the Clock Tower to ask the lecturer in the Department of Zoology. When I took out the corpse of the rhesus monkey I had modified from the box—"

"—The lecturer was sitting at his desk sorting through documents. When he saw me take out the corpse, his face instantly turned pale, a flicker of fear in his eyes, and he subconsciously took several steps back, almost bumping into the wall. He later told me that the concentration of magic power in the monkey's body was close to the limit, and any additional magic power input would directly cause an explosion."

"If we want to expand further, we'll have to use synthetic beasts. However, the cost and time required to create synthetic beasts far exceeds the cost of infusing ordinary animals with magic. Using synthetic beasts is completely insufficient to support the breeding needs."

"I'll have to find another way, but the instructor at the Clock Tower told me that using rhesus monkeys is the right idea. The closer a creature is to humans, the higher the limit of magic power it can hold. In other words, if I use human corpses, or even the corpses of magi, I might be able to achieve what I need."

"The corpses of magi... I happen to have a bunch of those on hand."

"Before I left, as agreed, I transferred the technology for infusing animals with magic to him. I heard it could fetch a fortune after patenting. Damn, the consulting fee is so expensive."

……

"After a period of experimentation, I finally succeeded in incorporating the corpses of magicians into my plan. Unlike animals, magicians possess sufficient magical power to sustain them from entering the ORT's domain and then exiting it successfully. They didn't crystallize immediately. Fortunately, I was still cautious and used another corpse to transport the ones that had already turned into crystals. Otherwise, I would likely have ended up in the same situation as them."

"After a body is transformed into a crystal, it needs to be left alone for a while before it can be restored to contact. Otherwise, even if you leave the core area of the ORT, creatures that come into contact with it will still be transformed into crystal."

"I simply demolished the ancestral hall in the middle of the clan land, and then demolished some other buildings and barely put them together to build the breeding house."

"In order to breed the Yavalinti, I had to renovate the tribe's territory. I demolished the ancestral hall in the center of the tribe, and even some less necessary buildings. I reused the materials and barely built a temporary breeding room. This room is not large, but it can accommodate more than enough Yavalinti. Here, I will precisely control these creatures to ensure their smooth reproduction."

"To isolate the magic, I created a powerful barrier around the breeding room. Using the blood of a magician as a material greatly enhanced the barrier's stability. The magic in the blood combined with the barrier's performance far exceeded my expectations."

"Controlling the concentration of magic power is also crucial. I plan to inject the lowest concentration of magic power into the breeding room and then bring the algae inside for cultivation. As long as the magic concentration does not exceed the standard, the reproduction of the Yavalinti should proceed smoothly."

……

"Everything is going better than expected, and the Yavalinti are breeding very well. But I didn't expect the magician's corpses to be used up so quickly. I thought our tribe had an abundant supply of corpses, but I didn't expect them to be used up in just five or six years."

"This is troublesome."

"But I came up with an idea. I deliberately let a magician who had sneaked into the Amazon go. Sure enough, soon after, other magicians swarmed in like flies. I lurked on the outskirts of the ORT, observing their movements. I dealt with anyone who left because they couldn't stand the concentration of magic. As for those who could withstand the magic concentration, I didn't think I could defeat them, but most of them died after entering the core area of the ORT."

"Although the number of corpses has decreased significantly, it's still enough to sustain the reproduction of the Yavalinti. The size of the thunderstorm has also decreased slightly, which is a good sign for me. It means that things may be developing in the direction I want."

……

"Why would the inheritance department come to me?"

"They actually accused me of leaking top-secret information, saying they helped me block the information and asked me to shoulder the responsibility of protecting ORT territory. Damn, this is so complicated, and they threw mud at me. Why? After they blocked the information, how else could I get the magus's body?"

"Qilengyingwu④V^IBaqi⒎: Let's release some mysterious information about Kuzco for now, hoping it will attract some magicians."

……

"I sold every magic patent I could register and certify, and I also sold off all the silver and gold my clan had plundered over the past century. I also bought as many corpses of magicians as I could, but it was ultimately a drop in the bucket. I was forced to suspend my breeding efforts."

"We have to find an alternative."

"The content at the back was torn out. He was deliberately avoiding this," Xing Qingqi said, showing the torn diary to everyone, "but we can all guess what method he used."

"Using human sacrifice to forcibly infuse magic has achieved results far superior to ordinary infusion methods..." Kenneth sighed and said, "Judging from the performance revealed in the diary, this person is quite talented."

"The rest is of no value. The old man hesitated for three or four years before finally choosing this method," Xing Qingfeng said as he casually closed the diary. "Let's pack up the materials and get ready to leave."

"This Isidro..." Guanyue Ringo sighed, "He's quite pathetic."

"He's dead, there's no need to mention him." Xing Qingqiu folded up the diaries on the table and handed one of the newer ones to Patricia. "This diary does mention you. If you're interested, you can take a look."

"A young girl from Europe submitted an application to me. The reason was humanities field research."

"The letter kept emphasizing her achievements in humanities research, trying to convince me that she was simply a humanist. She also told me that she disliked her identity as a magus, had no interest in the ways of magic, and would not pry into the mysteries of this land."

"Having no interest in magic means she's weak, right? But even a weak magus is still a magus. We can wait for her to arrive and capture her to use as material."

"..."

"After all these years, you still can't forget it? Never mind, I don't need this one."

Xing Qingqiu piled the diaries in an open space and set them ablaze. Flames leaped up, engulfing the pile of papers, casting a faint glow on his cold face. The flames danced, crackling softly.

"Just burn it like that?" Kenneth asked from the side.

Xing Qingwu didn't turn around, his tone still calm and unperturbed: "It's nothing of value, just burn it." He moved his arm slightly, raising one hand to brush away the smoke in the air, "It makes me sick just looking at it."

Kenneth lowered his head, sighed, and stood aside, his hands in his pockets, silent. The flame continued to dance across the clearing, wantonly devouring Isidro's memories of the past few decades. The reddish-orange glow flickered in the evening breeze, illuminating the desolate surroundings. In the distance, winding mountains rose, the horizon gradually turning dusk, and the air carried a chill.

"After all, he's still a poor man bound by gravity," Xing Qingqi said suddenly after a long moment, "bound by his identity as a magician, shouldering responsibilities that don't belong to him—"

"—He's very sad, but aren't those tourists even sadder than him?" Xing Qingqi's tone remained calm, but his fists were clenched tightly. "He initially wrote down the names of those tourists one by one, but later completely destroyed the records, representing human lives with knots."

"Like he said, no one remembers the 3,000 people who died in the banana company massacre, just like no one remembers the tourists who died at his hands over the past decade or so."

"I will remember all the sins he committed, but he doesn't deserve to have any record left in this world. He deserves to be forgotten."

"It's time to go." Xing Qingyu suddenly whispered, as if talking to himself.

"Let's change direction a bit and check if there are any clues left in the workshop left by the magicians back then."

OK, this plot ends here. The next plot is to merge the final cochineal line and start the ORT line together after the conflict ends.

Finally, I chose to end with the imagery of One Hundred Years of Solitude. The above is a new author’s new book. Please vote and give me feedback on my reading experience. Thank you!

Volume 53: Symbiotic Relationships: . First Entry into the ORT Periphery

The Amazon rainforest in late June was filled with a damp aroma, a tangled scent of humus and earth. The faint chirping of birds and the hum of insects drifted in the distance. The forest's green was layered, with vines draped like ropes between the trees, casting shadows across the landscape. Sunlight filtered through the treetops, casting dappled patches of light. The air was thick with humidity, leaving a sticky sensation. Despite this, a path lay ahead, winding and narrow, barely wide enough for anyone to navigate.

Xing Qingfeng and his companions walked along the forest path, their steps heavy. With each step, grass blades and slippery tree roots left deep marks on their soles, and the smell of moisture and earth filled the air. The mud underfoot made it feel like they would be dragged deeper into the forest if they weren't careful. Instead of rushing to the magicians' base, they chose to head towards the outer areas of ORT, intending to experience the ecological environment there firsthand.

"The rate at which the magic concentration is increasing is very abnormal," Xing Qingfeng suddenly stopped and said in a low voice, "The magic concentration in the environment now has exceeded that of most well-managed old spiritual sites—"
