He didn't possess any of the skills a warrior should possess, but the overwhelming superiority of his stats still made it difficult for Mandicardo to defeat him. He could only constantly parry and dodge, looking for fleeting openings.
The wounds on Tianfang Tonggang's body were already bleeding profusely, and blood flowed along the damaged armor and dripped onto the stone pavement under his feet, winding into a dark red river of blood. Mandicardo swung his sword again, easily cutting through Tianfang Tonggang's armor again.
"If I don't take your head, I'll be ashamed before Lord Ieyasu, and I'll be ashamed before Lord Nobuyasu!" A hoarse roar echoed with the wakizashi's blows, stirring a chill in the air. Mandicardo swiftly turned during a parry, his sword flashing past, slashing another deep, bloody gash across Amagata's chest. But this didn't stop him.
Amakata Michitsuna's armor had long been shattered, and the family crest originally engraved on his chest - the Amakata family's Ichimonji - had long been chopped into pieces by Mandicardo's sword.
He is the only Servant who does not bear the Tokugawa family crest.
Blood gushed out from the gaps torn by the sword, slowly flowing along the cracks in the torn armor, winding down his body and dripping onto the ground beneath his feet, staining the once cold stone slabs red. Blood mixed with dust, forming mottled bloodstains.
Mandicardo gasped, his hands tightly gripping his sword, his gaze fixed on the man before him, blood-stained and ghostly. A typical warrior would have long since lost his will to fight due to the pain and blood loss, his body succumbing to the weight and collapsing on the cold ground. However, Amakata Michitsugu remained standing, still wailing. His eyes were red with regret and guilt, tears mingling with blood and streaking across his face.
But he was still crying and waving the wakizashi in his hand without any control, just like an iron bar.
In the seventh year of Tensho, Oda Nobunaga suspected that Tokugawa Ieyasu's eldest son Saburo Nobuyasu had colluded with the Takeda family, and ordered him to commit seppuku.
On September 15th, Tokugawa Ieyasu sent Hattori Hanzo Masashige and Tenkayama Castle Lord Michitsuna to Totomi Futamata Castle to execute this order.
"Ah...ah...Owari bastard, I swear to kill you, I swear to kill you...!" Amagata Michitsuna swung his wakizashi at Mandicardo's side. Mandicardo spun quickly, his blade sweeping out, blocking the violent attack. The resounding sound of metal clashing echoed through the narrow street, shaking the ground beneath their feet.
——Tong Gang took Nobuyasu's head and reported it to Ieyasu.
"Uh... he seems to have the wrong person?" Mandicardo parried and dodged Amakata Michitsuna's attacks, but his mind was aroused by his opponent's words. "Ah... should I tell him who I am... but it seems that it is not right to reveal one's identity in the Holy Grail War. And if the other party knew what I had done... it is better not to tell him. Let's keep silent here..."
"How can I face Lord Ieyasu..." Amakata Michitsuna's roar was like a shattering thunder, his movements growing increasingly impatient, as if he were venting all his inner pain in this fight. Another wakizashi fell, and Mandicardo dodged it by leaning sideways. The sword then swiftly struck back, slicing precisely across Amakata Michitsuna's waist, tearing through his already tattered armor once more.
Tokugawa Ieyasu never blamed him.
"I have committed so many evil things. How can I face Lord Xinkang in the underworld..." Blood spurted out again, spilling onto the stone slabs under Tian Fang Tonggang's feet, but he still did not stop, as if these wounds and blood had nothing to do with him.
Tokugawa Nobuyasu never resented him.
But before he shaved his head and became a monk, he was immersed in fear of disaster and guilt day and night.
He also regarded the pain in his body at this moment as retribution for his sins and incompetence.
During his lifetime, he was afraid of being punished by Tokugawa Ieyasu and felt guilty towards Tokugawa Shinyasu. He was eventually overwhelmed and fled to Koyasan, choosing to shave his head and become a monk.
"This guy..." Mandicardo gritted his teeth and parried Tianfang Tonggang's attack again. The sharp blade in his hand slashed downward, accurately slicing through the opponent's shoulder armor. The white blade was stained with the opponent's blood. But Tianfang Tonggang remained indifferent.
"Fortunately... I'm just slashing randomly, so I can hold up." Mandicardo took a deep breath of the cold air, gradually mastering the rhythm of the opponent's attacks. Mandicardo's sword grip was no longer just defensive, but he looked for flaws in every collision, trying to aim for the core of the soul, ready to strike a fatal blow.
However, his movements suddenly paused, and he glanced at You Ruoyu in the dark. There, three incense sticks swayed slowly in the dim flame, illuminating You Ruoyu's slightly surprised face.
"Master, what's wrong?" Seeing You Ruoyu's expression, Mandycardo asked worriedly.
You Ruoyu frowned, her eyes fixed on the three incense sticks in her hands, her eyes filled with disbelief. Her lips trembled slightly, and she murmured softly, "That's not right... How could this be...?" Her hand holding the incense sticks trembled slightly, as if she was shocked by the incredible fact.
"This year is... the 4280th year of the Dao calendar... Renwu... Renwu year!?" You Ruoyu's voice trembled slightly. "Are you... kidding me? I must have seen it wrong, right...?"
The technique You Ruoyu relied on was an ancient Eastern technique based on the Nine Heavenly Palaces, interpreting celestial phenomena and coordinating them with the time of day. If viewed from the perspective of Western magic, it would be considered celestial magic. This type of celestial-based technique had extremely strict requirements for dates and astronomical phenomena; even the slightest discrepancy could significantly diminish or even render the entire technique ineffective.
She had previously believed without a doubt that today's astronomical phenomenon should be December 1999, 12. In other words, no normal person would have any doubt about what year it was.
But now, the feeling of uneasiness in her heart gradually spread. She once again observed the incense in her hand and the celestial phenomena, and then discovered a fact that made her feel horrified -
——There was a serious deviation between You Ruoyu’s calculation results and the astronomical phenomena she observed. The error was no longer a few hours, but even far more than a few days.
The sky was overcast, and although she couldn't observe the stars accurately, she could make basic calculations based on her knowledge.
——The celestial phenomena at this moment do not point to 1999, but to 1582, more than four hundred years ago.
At this time, Japan was in the Warring States Period.
"Ha...hahaha...I must be dreaming...I'm never going to go online again..." You Ruoyu repeatedly confirmed his observations, but the results always pointed to 1582. You Ruoyu's fingers tightly grasped the incense sticks, and cold sweat began to seep out of his forehead. "Oh...why do I keep seeing the same thing after so many times? Is Japan special...it must be this way..."
"Master seems unreliable for the time being..." Mandicardo frowned slightly, glancing in the direction of You Ruoyu from the corner of his eye, but quickly retracted his gaze and threw himself into the battle. Although he didn't have much confidence when he first started the encounter, the opponent was really strong.
Amagata Michitsuna swung his wakizashi frantically, slashing at Mandicard again and again with a whistling sound. The sound of metal clashing and sparks flying, the harsh sound echoed in the silent night.
I encountered a strange berserker at my doorstep. I ignored the attacks and was as strong as a monster. I tried my best to defeat him.
However, as the battle progressed, Mandicardo gradually discovered that although the opponent's panels in all aspects were superior to his, his attack methods were quite rigid.
Tian Fang Tonggang's attack became more and more violent, but Mandicardo became more and more at ease. His footsteps slid on the stone slabs, leaving only slight scratches.
Mandicardo had found the right rhythm, no longer rushing to retreat, but instead taking advantage of the delays in each of his opponent's attacks to counterattack. As he gradually became familiar with the rhythm of battle and mastered it, Mandicardo also gained some confidence.
——My Durandal and I will not lose!
Amagata Michitsuna roared, raising his wakizashi once more. The immense force tensed his muscles, causing his body to tilt slightly beneath his armor, his center of gravity unstable. Mandicardo seized this opportunity, kicked off, and suddenly leaped into his attack range, his blade piercing the air like lightning.
Durandal's blade, gleaming with a blinding cold light, pierced the already ripped armor on Tian Fang Tong Gang's chest. The air seemed to freeze in that instant, and the sound of the sword piercing the air was like a howl tearing through the darkness.
"Pfft-"
The sharp blade pierced Tian Fang Tong Gang's damaged armor like lightning. Mandicardo felt the resistance from the blade for a moment, as if it had penetrated the heavy armor, cut through the skin and bones, and reached the soul core. Blood spurted out, staining the ground in front of him red.
——Crazy hatred and obsession still burned in Amakata Michitsuna’s eyes, and the wakizashi in his hand did not stop even though his spirit core was pierced.
"...No way?" Mandicardo's pupils shrank, and he felt a cold murderous intent approaching. He wanted to draw back his sword, but the speed of his pulling out was far less swift than Tian Fang Tonggang's attack.
"puff--"
The wakizashi sank into Mandicardo's shoulder with incredible force, the sharp edge severing muscle and blood vessels. Blood immediately gushed out, trickling down his arm. Pain rippled through his nerves like a raging fire, the searing pain nearly making it impossible to grip the hilt. He clenched his teeth, his face contorted in agony, and cold sweat streamed down his forehead.
The bones in his shoulder cracked slightly, as if they would break at any moment. Mandicardo stumbled, nearly losing his balance. He endured the intense pain, steadying himself, and tightly grasping Durandal, forcibly pulling him from Tianfang Tonggang's chest.
When Amagata Michitsuna's wakizashi was pulled from his shoulder, it unleashed a large piece of flesh and blood. The pain made his vision black out, but his legs remained firmly planted on the cold stone. The wind whistled past him, carrying away a hint of the warm smell of blood.
"Clang—Puff—"
The sound of blades clashing again echoed in the silent night, the fierce clash of metal shaking Mandicardo's arms. Amagata Michitsuna's slashes were like a torrential downpour, weighing heavily on his defenses. The wound on his shoulder burned like a burning pain. The wakizashi's blows were delivered with such force that he could barely hold the blade. Blood streamed down his arm, soaking his grip and turning the hilt greasy, making even basic parrying difficult.
"boom--"
With a dull thud, the wound on Mandicardo's left shoulder was torn open again. The blade grazed his defenses, nearly piercing his chest and abdomen. He barely managed to block with his sword, but his arm was paralyzed by the overwhelming recoil. The sword was pressed almost to his body, and the huge impact made him stumble back several steps, his boots scraping against the ground with a harsh sound.
Blood gushed from the fresh wound, dripping slowly along his flank onto the cold stone, forming a winding trail. A massive tear had been split open in his chest armor, revealing ripped clothing and bright red skin beneath. If he hadn't just used all his strength to block the blow, his arm would have been lost.
It doesn’t matter how many times Tian Fang Tong Gang makes mistakes, but once Mandicardo makes a mistake and gets injured, he will fall into a vicious cycle.
Under Tenkata Michitsuna's frantic slashing, Mandicardo's movements gradually slowed, his steps becoming unsteady. The opponent's wakizashi slashed down with the force of a mountain, slicing through his defenses. With a resounding bang, Mandicardo's sword nearly slipped from his grasp, forcing him back repeatedly, stumbling and nearly falling.
"Oh no..." Mandicardo realized he could no longer resist. But at this moment, Amagata Michitsuna approached again with a strong murderous intent, bloodstains crisscrossing his armor, and his wakizashi raised high, slicing through the air, aiming directly at his vitals.
"...I, following the command of the Supreme Lord Lao, summon the evil spirit Xuanwu, the Western Loujin Gou, and the Seven-Red Xianchi Star Gold Evil Spirit to protect the Nine Palaces. I also summon the Southern Dipper Fifth Tianshu Palace, the True Lord Wenchang Lianhun, to save the world from disasters. I respectfully pray that the stars may bring blessings, and that the Yiling Thirty-Two Lins may bestow blessings upon all the stars, eliminating disasters this very hour."
"——clang!" Amagata Michitsugu's wakizashi slashed at Mandicardo, but the sound of metal clashing rang out. Smoke gradually lingered around Mandicardo, and his injuries were rapidly healing.
"Ha... As expected..." You Ruoyu had already inserted the three incense sticks in the incense burner at her feet. "The celestial phenomena are unreliable..."
"The actual year is still 1999, and the stars in the sky are fake."
------------
OK, the foreshadowing of this volume has basically been laid out, and the Holy Grail War can be ended.
I didn't find many works and historical materials related to Tenpō Tsūkan, so I drafted one myself based on the historical materials. The period was roughly between when he became Tokugawa Shinyasu's assistant and before he became a monk, and the reason for his madness was as mentioned above.
She should be considered a Servant with a Type-Moon vibe.
The above is a new book by a new author. Please vote and give me feedback. Thank you!
Volume 34: The Kyoto Holy Grail War Without Any Nagging: . Imaginary numbers are physical quantities? You're kidding me, idiot!
At this moment, Kyoto seemed no longer mortal. In the thick darkness, demons and monsters silently swarmed the streets, and every corner was filled with the aura of the underworld. At first, only the occasional muffled gasp or the fleeting sight of an ominous shadow could be heard from the silent, deserted alleys. Then, more and more evil spirits appeared from the deep shadows, gradually approaching the dark residential streets. There, the streetlights flickered and went out, causing waves of unease among pedestrians in the darkness. Eventually, even the pedestrian streets, once brightly lit and bustling with people, began to loom, emitting the aura of death.
When the demons first appeared, the streets of Kyoto were in chaos. The previously peaceful crowd, suddenly confronted by the sight of the deathly aura of the monsters in the darkness, was instantly overwhelmed with fear. Pedestrians fled in all directions, and the streets were filled with panicked footsteps and screams. Some hurriedly pushed those around them aside, others stood there, bewildered, while many more frantically searched for an escape route. The lights in the shops dimmed instantly, and the clamor of noise gave way to panicked whispers and rapid breathing. The air was filled with despair and helplessness.
"Back off! The open area behind is safe!"*4
Same hairstyle! Same appearance! They shouted in unison! They stepped out of the shadows in unison! They drew their swords in unison!
Four red-armored samurai stood silently on the streets of Kyoto, their bright red armor glaring like blood. From helmet to battle plate, every detail of their armor was meticulously polished, like a cold mirror, reflecting the dark streets even more harshly. The three-leaf sunflower emblem, symbolizing the Tokugawa family, was engraved in the center of their armor. On each side of their shoulder pads, the word "Tokugawa" was written in bold, powerful strokes, the writing as sharp as a knife's edge.
Their faces were obscured by prominent sunglasses, leaving the exposed portions as sharp and angular as sculptures, their brows and eyes devoid of any emotion. Each of these red-armored soldiers bore an eerie resemblance, practically quadruplets! No, it was more accurate to say they were identical! Every facial line, every inch of skin texture, even the shape of their lips was identical, as if cast from the same mold.
Their movements were perfectly synchronized! Even their breathing rhythm seemed to have been precisely trained, breathing in and out in unison!
How terrifying! How terrifying! Oh, if any innocent Kyoto citizens were present, they would surely be frightened to the point of incontinence!
But for some reason, even though it was such a strange scene, the citizens present did not notice anything unusual.
In the chaotic situation where the citizens were in panic and fleeing in all directions, trying to quell the chaos with just four people and a simple shout was an unimaginable task. The fear in the crowd surged like a tide, and the pushing and panic among each other threatened to cause a stampede at any moment. Logically, the presence of a few warriors was not enough to stop everyone from fleeing, let alone make them willingly obey orders and follow orders. However, the facts took an unexpected turn -
However, unexpectedly, the unified shouts of the four Red Guards miraculously accomplished this seemingly impossible task. The citizens, who had been fleeing in all directions, actually stopped in their tracks at the shouts. Their panic was suppressed, and the commotion gradually subsided. Everyone spontaneously began to follow their instructions, evacuating in an orderly manner, no one showing any signs of panic.
"Wheel of Seven Treasures: EX"
The Seven Treasures of the Chakravartin of the Pure Land Buddhism, a religion practiced by the Tokugawa family for generations, are transformed into the corresponding Caster when Tokugawa Ieyasu possesses this Noble Phantasm.
Just as a chakravartin possesses the seven treasures, what are these seven? They are great observation, great compliance, great wisdom, great diligence, great skill, great realization, and great deeds. The great observer, the bodhisattva-mahasattva, associates with good friends, listens to the true Dharma, and in an instant, realizes all dharmas and sees the true nature.
The seven treasures of the wheel-turning chakravartin appear when the chakravartin king appears. Their purpose is to assist the king in educating the people and practicing the bodhisattva path. After all the conditions are met -
——The Japanese Buddhist equivalent of the Medicine Buddha and the Shinto deity who illuminates Japan, Tosho Daigon, will descend to end the strife-ridden Warring States Period and bring stability and prosperity to the Edo Period.
Known Spirit-Dream (First Release Conditions:
1. Tokugawa Ieyasu himself used the Noble Phantasm;
Second, the political center of Japan, or the city that was historically the political center, where "power" was concentrated in the hands of the Tokugawa;
3. The current era is the "Warring States Period".
On this street, the four Red-Armed Army warriors were able to so easily disperse the crowd without using any harsh means. This was one of the effects of the "Seven Treasures of the Wheel of Speed".
"Kyoto has entered a curfew!"*4
There was another uniform shout, and one of the Red Guards stepped forward, holding up a notice board with the four big words "Kyoto Curfew" written on it in rough strokes.
"All citizens must return home immediately and avoid going out!"
The citizens on the street gradually dispersed. Four Red Guards stood like statues in the middle of the street, separating the crowd from the deadly demons. As the crowd thinned, they once again marched in unison. Their crimson armor shone with a cold metallic sheen under the dim light, and the sound of their powerful footsteps echoed in the empty street.
Suddenly, the four of them spoke at the same time, their voices like a sharp blade piercing the air, shocking everyone:
"Kill you, you bastard!"*4
The four sharp swords were once again drawn from their waists in unison, pointed at the evil spirit in unison. The evil spirit let out a piercing scream and tried to struggle, but at that moment, the sword light flashed in unison like lightning -
The demon's body was instantly chopped into pieces, scattered across the ground like chopped tuna. The sharp, resonant sound of a blade returning to its sheath echoed throughout the streets of Kyoto. At every crucial intersection, at the end of every dark alley, even in the most conspicuous spots of the city's downtown, four red-armored soldiers, resembling clones, stood silently in crimson armor.
At this hour, Kyoto was shrouded in darkness. A thick, dark cloud, like a heavy curtain, obscured the sky, the stars, and the moon, making the entire city seem even more gloomy and depressing. The streets were almost deserted, and only the occasional whisper of wind through the treetops could be heard, as if this ancient city had fallen into an uneasy silence. A faint chill permeated the air, as if some invisible force was surging in the shadows.
----------
Xing Qingyu stood beside a seemingly abandoned shrine, slightly raised his head, his eyes penetrating the misty night, gazing at the sky covered by dark clouds.
Kyoto under the night sky was shrouded in heavy dark clouds, making the entire city appear even more gloomy. The light of the stars and the moon was completely obscured, and only the dim street lights occasionally emitted a faint halo of light at the street corners.
He had just explored most of the nodes along Kyoto's leylines. Near each one, he had discreetly attached tiny sensors. Hidden among moss, tiles, and even tree trunks, the devices blended seamlessly into the surroundings. Now, these sensors silently hummed, transmitting every subtle vibration of the leylines to his hands. Kyoto's leylines were like an intricate web, the magical fluctuations of each node resonating with one another.
On the way, we naturally saw the Red Army on the streets of Kyoto and the constantly refreshed evil spirits. The entire earth vein had become a large monster spawning cage.
Although the inexplicable appearance of the Red Guards also attracted his attention, if it weren't for these Red Guards, he would probably have been slowed down to deal with the spirits he encountered on the road.
——This made him inexplicably irritated. He always felt that his way of thinking was completely under his control, and everything that happened seemed to be arranged, allowing him to focus completely on the matter he was currently investigating.
He allocated one thread to think about these things, and then used the rest of the threads to observe the magic circuits between himself and these nodes.
"Split Thinking" is one of the fundamental abilities of the alchemists of the Atlas Institute, a technique that uses the human body as a computing device. The minimum requirement for membership in the Atlas Institute is the ability to perform three split thoughts and high-speed thinking.
Split thinking is the ability to maintain multiple thought loops simultaneously. All thoughts share a common purpose and exchange information. Furthermore, thoughts multiply. If there are n thought loops, the actual number of threads is n^n.
At full power, Xing Qingfeng could split his thinking into four parts, giving him 256 threads. At this moment, he dedicated all 254 threads to observing and calculating all nodes, leaving only one thread to ponder his own situation.
He didn't know who to trust. He really believed in Schrödinger, but when he found out that the magic field covering the entire Kyoto was created by Schrödinger, he didn't know whether he should continue to trust him.
The trustworthy Emiya Kiritsugu could not be contacted at all at this moment, and because of the magic field, the entire Kyoto was almost completely cut off from the outside world.
……
His rationality told him that his situation was quite wrong, but his emotions and intuition told him that what he was doing at this moment was a win-win situation.
……
The analysis results of all nodes were collected on his terminal, but the clues were still vague. Xing Qingfeng stared at the data in his hand and instantly realized what he had to do next.
—The same escape technique he had seen on You Ruoyu before. Xing Qingyu adjusted his magic power and threw himself into Hilbert Space, continuously ascending the dimension.
He was simultaneously observing the "overall structure" of this magic field from a higher-dimensional perspective.
The flow of magic power at each node at this moment was transmitted to Xing Qing through the sensor, and the overall movement was taken in by his eyes. This was something that was completely impossible to achieve in previous research -
He understood Schrödinger's intention.
