The porcelain-white skin is adorned with a few carefully placed teardrop diamonds, and the canine teeth revealed when the cherry lips are slightly parted are shining with pearly luster.
The most captivating thing is the pair of eyes: the left eye is a clear amethyst, and the right eye is a crystal sapphire.
"Am I beautiful, dear?" Her cherry lips curved into a crescent-shaped arc, and the sweet ending tone echoed in the hall.
Wop: "Have we met before?"
Claudia: "I'm sure this is our first meeting, but I'm even more sure we'll be together forever."
Wop looked at her discreetly. Before coming here, Wop had always wondered if they had met in the past of the future. If so, he would probably show mercy. But if not, then this woman's attitude towards him could only be described as weird.
Claudia suddenly dropped her eyes, her long lashes casting fan-shaped shadows on her cheeks. She folded her hands across her chest as if holding a dream, her silver wings shyly folding into a translucent heart shape. "My dearest, you haven't told me your last name yet."
Wop: "No last name."
Claudia tilted her head. "How could someone like you not have a last name?"
"I'm curious, what exactly is it about me that piques your interest?"
"Of course it's genes, dear." She suddenly tilted her head, her silver wings folded into an innocent arc, and her fingertips lightly touched her lower lip. "We possess the most primitive sacred gene sequence of mankind. Our union will surely produce the purest offspring!"
Her charming face showed her longing for a better future, and her eyes revealed a shocking fanaticism.
Wop lowered his head, and Angron said softly, "What she said is true. She wants to have a child with you."
The corners of Wop's mouth twitched. It wasn't a smile, but rather a movement of his facial muscles resisting some absurd reality.
No, sister, are you serious?
He would rather Angron told him that Claudia was lying to him, so that he could kill everyone with peace of mind.
"So he's also a psychic?" Claudia chuckled softly, covering her lips. "Although his genetic sequence isn't pure, it's still stronger than those of the untouchables. If you're willing to marry me, I can marry my sister to him."
An invisible psychic field blasted out like a sledgehammer, knocking Claudia back to the throne. Her gorgeous wings fluttered in disarray in the psychic storm.
"So you like rough methods?" Claudia frowned, her voice still sweet. "You'd better change it. I don't like this. Even if your genetic sequence is so pure, I won't condone such rudeness."
Wop: "You'd better explain it to me from the beginning, otherwise I won't promise not to blow your head off with my psychic powers."
"You want to kill me? Why?" she shouted in disbelief. "You will never find a more pure human being in this world than me!"
Wop felt a huge headache. "I don't understand what you're saying at all. Will you die if you explain it to me? The last Riddler died alone sitting on the golden toilet!"
Claudia's eyes widened to their limit, as if she had finally realized something. Her expression was filled with surprise. "You are from another world? How did you get through the warp storm?"
Wop: "One question per person."
"Okay." She nodded.
Wop: "Yes, I come from another world. Now it's your turn to answer me, what happened in this world?"
“You’re so cunning,” Claudia muttered softly, reluctantly sliding down from the throne. “But I have to answer you. Come with me.”
Claudia put her wolf mask back on, and the golden threads stretched towards her temples once again.
As she walked out of the hall, she caught a glimpse of the group of wounded slaves in the corridor. She instructed the two female guards at the door, "Take them for disinfection, and prepare food and clean clothes for them."
"Yes, my lord." The two guards bowed their heads.
There was undisguised disgust in her voice, a stark contrast to her earlier attentiveness to Wop.
Claudia stopped in front of a huge mural depicting hundreds of silver-winged angels fighting a group of wild beasts. Wop had seen this scene when he came here.
"See?" Claudia tapped the mural lightly with her fingertips. "This is what happened in this world. Now, answer me. Which world are you from?"
Obviously, she was cheating as revenge for Wop's cheating.
"Tyra," Wop said, "explain it to me. I want details."
"Tyra...?" She froze in place as if struck to the very soul, whispering dreamily, "I see. No wonder your genes are so pure."
She asked softly, "Hasn't Terra ever experienced war?"
"Terra was plagued by warlords throughout the Age of Strife, and was only recently unified. I have answered two of your questions, and it is time for you to answer mine."
Claudia was helpless with Wop's cunning, and she pointed at one of the silver angels.
"This is my ancestor, Gaius Julius Caesar Octavius Augustus. Five thousand years ago, it was he and others who led the knights to victory in the Beast War, allowing Nucera to preserve the flame of civilization. Okay, you have one more question."
"I told you to be detailed."
Claudia: "Compared to the answer you gave me, that's more than enough."
Wop: "Then let me ask you, what is the Purist sect?"
"Don't you understand? The high-ranking knights of the Nuceria city-states are all descendants of the Purists. We carry humanity's most original sacred genetic sequence. While not as pure as you, we are far purer than those beasts."
"Who is the beast?"
Claudia: "Those slaves you protected were all descendants of wild beasts."
Wop lowered his head. Angron said, "She didn't lie."
Claudia: "Now it's my turn to ask you. I hope we can both be honest, okay?"
"You're wasting your opportunity to ask questions."
"I need clear answers, Wop."
Wop nodded: "Okay."
……
It is a rumor that M3's genes are favored by M30. GW would not write such a plot, but GW's setting of 30K human genes also provides self-consistency and rationality for this rumor.
There are very few official settings for Nuceria. In order to make the Emperor's human-machine operation of Angron reasonable, I have made some secondary creations to the settings of Nuceria. For the sake of consistency, I will release them directly later.
Chapter 86 My Purity is Above Yours (5K)
Around the end of the Iron Rebellion in late M25, civil war broke out in Nuceria.
On one side are the Purists, led by high-ranking knights, and on the other side are what they scornfully call the Beasts. The only criterion for distinguishing the two is the similarity of their genes to the gene sequences of primitive humans.
"Our genome is over 70% similar to the original human genome, while the beasts only have 10%." Claudia made no secret of her contempt for the beasts. "Five thousand years ago, the war nearly destroyed Nuceria. It was us who protected this world's civilization from the beasts and aliens!"
"Those slaves are the descendants of wild beasts. Their genome is no more than 25% similar to the original human genome. Aside from their human appearance, they are not human at all. The blood flowing in their veins is no longer human!"
"Only by combining 99% of you and 70% of me can we produce the purest offspring. We can purify this world!"
Woppe makes no comment on Claudia's fanaticism, even though he has a deep understanding of the war between the Purists and the Fauves.
If we were to simply label both sides, the Purists would be equivalent to mechanical ascension, and the Fauvists would be genetic ascension.
But the Purists are not as outrageous as the Oil Man, and will not turn their entire body into a machine.
The only mechanical implants of the Royal Guards are silver vines. Although high-ranking knights have more implants, such as Claudia's mask, eyes and wings, they still look like ordinary people. They attach great importance to the purity of human genes and flesh.
After winning the Beast War, the Purists wiped out almost all the beasts, with only a few beastmen escaping into the wilderness.
The Purists' way of ruling Nuceria was also very simple and crude, which was to divide humans into high-level knights, civilians, and slaves according to their genetic purity. Civilians with higher genetic purity also had the opportunity to become personal guards of high-level knights.
Because the human gene pool of the Golden Age had been contaminated, the Nucerians could only use the most primitive human genome as identification samples, that is, the original indigenous people of ancient Terra.
But this ruling model has long since changed. If it were high-ranking knights thousands of years ago, Wop believed that they would demote people with low genetic purity into slaves in order to protect the overall genetic purity of the Nucerians, but now high-ranking knights capture slaves purely for fun.
High Knights still fervently cling to their genetic purity, but this fervor is more about proving their innate nobility than their innate humanity, a fundamental departure from what their ancestors upheld.
"Join us!" Claudia held out her hand to Wop. "Together we can create the future of Nukeria!"
Wop suddenly asked, "What do you think a human being is?"
Claudia: "You and I."
"You're too extreme." Wop shook his head.
"If M3 is used as the dividing line, the genome similarity between M3 humans and late Homo sapiens 3 years ago exceeds 99%, with the differences mainly reflected in single nucleotide polymorphisms and a few structural variations."
"But if we push back 30,000 years, the overall similarity between the genomes of the humans in M30 and the original humans in M3 will be no more than 40%. If we use your standards, then 99% of the human population in the entire galaxy cannot be considered human and should be exterminated."
Although there were still a few examples of the Emperor and other immortals in M30, the overall genetics of humanity was indeed very different from that of the M3 era.
This difference was very small before M23, because although humans before M23 would optimize their genes, the overall optimization was still based on the human genome.
But after M23, the Jin people began to use alien genes to make bold modifications to the human genome.
There is a common speculation that the Jin people at that time may have wanted to use alien genes to help the human race achieve ascension.
Precisely because it concerns the ascension of the entire race, this genetic modification was not limited to certain worlds from the beginning, but to all worlds.
During the Golden Age, human civilization was at its peak. Stonemen and Ironmen served their masters loyally, and no world dared to disobey the orders of the Golden Men.
Although the Iron Man Rebellion broke out later and human civilization fell apart in the Age of Strife, the Jin Man's experiment had already been successful.
By the time of M30, humanity was on the verge of ascending into a psionic race.
Even the Emperor wanted to lead humanity to ascend into a psychic race, not to stop it.
Even in the critical moment of the Horus Heresy, the Emperor still had a beautiful vision for the future of mankind -
"We are taking the final step towards becoming a psionic race. I conquered humanity's cradle world, and then the entire galaxy, to protect it. No one of our race can stand aside, lest the ignorance of some bring about the destruction of the entire species."
"Now, we have eradicated faith and fear from the minds of mankind, and completely purged religion, lest it open the door to the invasion of the Warp creatures. Next, I will guide humanity so that those scattered across the universe can travel between the stars without the need for Geller force fields, and can communicate freely without the strange dreams of astropaths."
"The peace under the Empire, the laws within the Empire are a strong protection for this species. When humanity escapes the Warp under my protection, I can finally lead it to grow into a psionic race."
Had the Emperor been as obsessed with the narrow-minded dogma of genetic purity as the Nucerians, the Great Crusade would no longer be a great cause of the restoration of human civilization, but would have degenerated into a horrific atrocity in the name of genetics, slaughtering fellow humankind.
This paranoid frenzy of genetic purification will ultimately transform the lofty ideal of human rejuvenation into an abyss of self-destruction.
"Why?" She didn't understand.
Wop: "If humans are classified based on genetic similarity, what do you think you are in my eyes when you are only 70% pure? Do you deserve to be called a human?"
That's pretty cruel.
Although Wop is a native of M3, the genes of the natives are purer than those of M30.
Even in the golden age of humanity before M23, humans had relied on advanced technology to carry out massive optimization of their own genes, but the overall genome was still consistent with that of M3 humans, with a genetic similarity of over 90%.
If we use Guteras's standards, 90% genetic similarity is equivalent to the difference between humans and monkeys, Wop is the monkey.
However, the direction of genetic modification in each human world during the Golden Age was different. For example, the Colchis people were more resistant to high temperatures and cold than people in other worlds, so the genetic differences between humans in different worlds were also very great.
But no matter how big it is, it is definitely taller than the descendant of a high-ranking knight like Claudia.
Even though high-ranking knights still share 70% genetic similarity, with the exception of the Emperor and a few Eternals born before M23, all humans, including the Golden Men, are the product of psychic ascension experiments.
This also includes Malcador, as Malcador was born in M24.
Wop: "If we categorize people by genetic purity, people in the Golden Age are human, I'm at best a monkey, and you're just a fish. Now it's like a fish is professing its love for a monkey, saying it wants to create the future of humanity. Don't you think that's ridiculous?"
"Why do you insult me like this?" Claudia's voice trembled with anger. "If even I can't be called a human, then there are no humans left in Nuceria!"
Wop's voice was filled with deep weariness. "See, that's the problem. You always push everything to extremes. When did a gene, just a sequence of bases, become the measure of humanity?"
Claudia suddenly sneered sharply, "So you'd rather admit those beasts are human than accept a compatriot whose genetic sequence isn't pure enough?"
Wop sighed. "I was just making an analogy. I didn't say you're not human."
Claudia took a step forward, insisting, "If it's not genetics, how do you differentiate between humans?"
"Of course it's reproductive isolation!"
In ancient Terra, even elementary school students know that reproductive isolation is one of the basic criteria for dividing species.
The Emperor was quite tolerant of human genetic standards. Even the beastmen of the Izumi Poets, who were considered by the Nucerians to be legitimate demihumans of the Empire, could join the Imperial Auxiliary Forces and contribute to the Empire's Great Crusade.
Even if the Terrans mate with the Macragge people on the other side of the galaxy, they can still produce offspring. Such cases are everywhere, because even though human genes have been changed into a mess, there is still no reproductive isolation between humans, and they are still one species.
Woppe: "Even if our genetic sequences are vastly different, as long as two individuals who call themselves human can mate and produce fertile offspring, the natural laws of the universe still recognize us as belonging to the same species."
Claudia: "Tell me, Wop, is there reproductive isolation between us?"
"should not."
"Then unite with me!"
"Claudia, why are you so obsessed with marrying me?" Wop asked helplessly. "The genetic purity of other high-ranking knights is similar to yours. Wouldn't you be able to produce pure offspring if you mate?"
"Do you think our ancestors didn't try?" Claudia's sneer sounded like self-mockery. "Although our ancestors won the Beast War, the number of surviving Purists is very small. Can you guess what the consequences will be?"
Woppe realized the problem: "Inbreeding."
Five thousand years is enough time for two or three hundred generations to reproduce. In order to ensure genetic purity, the Purists will only mate and reproduce with high-ranking knights who are also Purists.
The disadvantages may not be obvious at the beginning, but as time goes by, the deformities caused by inbreeding will become more and more obvious.
