It can be seen that all magical treasures and supernatural powers come from the heart, and the mind should not be easily indulged. Therefore, practice should follow the words of the Heart Sutra: "The mind is free from worries."

"My friend, the method I am going to teach you is related to the method of cultivating the mind. Just like the "Ten Oxen Picture" in Zen Buddhism.

There are levels to taming the inner bull, from the initial 'looking for the bull', to 'seeing the traces', 'seeing the bull', 'getting the bull', 'herding the cow', 'riding the cow home', 'forgetting the cow and keeping the man', 'forgetting both the man and the bull', 'returning to the origin', to the final 'entering the shop and lowering the hands', there are ten stages in total.

In other words, in the process of spiritual practice, from the initial search for the path, to seeing the path, cultivating the path, nurturing the path, and finally attaining the ultimate Bodhi path, one must go through ten states of mind.

Master Kongming said this while shaking his head.

The heart ox of Zen Buddhism is similar to the heart monkey of Taoism. This practice is the process of refining the mind and finally embarking on the road to heaven.

It’s a pity that there are really few people in this world who can really embark on the road to heaven. Even Zuo Rutong, the Daying Immortal of the Sanyi Sect, is a little short of the mark.

"So, what is this method?"

Gu Changge asked curiously.

After all, the old monk's words made sense, and he felt a little curious.

"This is the Mahasthamaprapta contemplation. It means imagining that Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva is of the same size as Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Each halo is one hundred and twenty-five yojanas in size. His entire body is radiant, illuminating the ten directions and having a purple-gold color."

Master Kongming said with a smile.

This way of observation is naturally not the practice method of their Shaolin Temple, but it is extremely beneficial for cultivating the state of mind.

Of course, there are still big differences between their Zen Buddhism and the inheritance of the three Putuo temples.

In Buddhism, Amitabha Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva are collectively known as the "Three Holy Ones of the West" and share the responsibility of guiding countless suffering beings to the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

The appearance and decoration of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva are the same as those of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. The main difference is that the crown on Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva's head is a symbol of a jar, which means that he contains wisdom and light, and can save all sentient beings.

This method of observation seems to be indeed a way to cultivate the mind.

This method is not considered a secret method of their Shaolin Temple, so it is natural to pass it on to Gu Changge.

This Bodhisattva Mahasthamaprapta is no simple person, and this method of contemplation is certainly beneficial to his cultivation.

The so-called skills are too many to overwhelm the body.

"Okay, then I will teach you this method now."

After Gu Changge transformed the Calming Mantra into a Calming Bottle, he found that his Calming Mantra seemed to be purer and it was less likely for ordinary thoughts to infect it.

"Interesting. This method of meditation is different from the White Bone Contemplation and Treasure Appearance Contemplation cultivation methods, but the effects are very similar. They all make thoughts purer."

Both Buddhism and Taoism teach people to enter a state of purity. In this state, the body will be controlled by the primordial spirit rather than the conscious spirit, which allows for more complete practice.
