Deep Sea Hunter, but Deep Sea Titan
Page 136
The eyelids detached from its enormous eyes, and the vitreous body reflected the towering figure of the bronze colossus.
And countless tentacles rushed out of its originally thin and short body at high speed.
The stagnant water that had been lingering in the underground passage flowed into the cavern and continued to rise as the bishop's body swelled.
Quintus twisted and smashed all the instruments. Its body was almost as big as Haisi's, yet it was venting human rage. How ridiculous, how comical.
The bronze behemoth reached out and grasped the writhing, slimy monster as if plucking a wildflower from a lawn.
A cacophony of rapid, undulating sounds, the wet squeaks of flesh being squeezed, filled the air as Quintus struggled and convulsed in the hands of the bronze giant.
Quintus now regrets that the large group made a valid point in classifying Lotin as a dangerous natural environment, just as those deep-sea relatives wouldn't intentionally try to block the vents of a fiery geyser.
He boasted that he had understood the will of the ocean, but who can truly understand the will of the ocean?
Loting knew from the beginning that the Deep Sea Church was a complete lie, and that some blind and ignorant fanatics were projecting their desires onto inhuman beasts.
Quintus was undoubtedly one of the more depraved among these people.
He could have crushed the juicy bouquet at any moment, but he chose to leave that opportunity to his nun.
"Second Captain, it's my prey. Let me tear it apart by myself."
Laurentina discarded her nun's hood; it was an exception that Lotin switched skins from a distance, so Laurentina's attire did not change accordingly.
Lotin believes that Laurentina should carry out her revenge in her original form.
"Go, shark, I hope you haven't become dulled by someone's excessive pampering."
Halfway through her speech, Greta realized that Laurentina had changed her address for her from "unfamiliar blood relative" to "Second Captain".
"Shark, you're awake?"
Laurentina brushed past Geredia like a sea breeze.
She did not immediately answer Gretia's question.
Loting's care and affection made her recovery only a matter of time, while the nourishment of the ocean and the joy of revenge further accelerated the process. It was at this moment that his nun awoke.
She is the complete Laurentina.
"Don't expect me to be your obedient nun forever."
Upon hearing this, Greta still harbored illusions about Laurentina leaving Lotin.
"After all, there are still so many things I want to try with you, darling."
The awakened Laurentina seemed to have become bolder and more lively, which made Goredia completely give up her fantasies.
If you don't want to be a good nun, you can be a bad one; that's what Laurentina meant.
"How did it grow so big? What a pity. No matter how big a frail body expands, it will only make it bleed more painfully before it dies."
Laurentina brandished her circular saw, tearing at the immobile Quintus along Lotin's arm.
Lotin gave Laurentina a new toy: the Blood-Drinking Sword. Of all Lotin's weapons, being killed by this sword was the most painful experience.
As the person who got along best with Loting in terms of personality, Laurentina instantly understood Loting's intention. She used the pulsating magic sword to slowly cut away Quintus's tentacles.
Unlike humans, sea creatures do not experience pain; they only exhibit basic behavior of seeking advantage and avoiding harm in their environment.
But Quintus is different; he is a human transformed into a sea creature, and human emotions and desires still remain in his shattered consciousness.
He can still feel pain that only humans can feel.
"Honey, can you hear that? Every single cell in it is 'screaming,' it feels so good!"
Clearly, Hai Si could not violate the most basic principle of energy conservation. Under Laurentina's torture, Quintus's body began to wither and his tentacles began to stiffen, as nutrients were deprived from his body.
"Then I will listen until you are completely satisfied, my sister, as a congratulatory gift for your recovery."
Lotin was delighted that Laurentina had fully recovered; he could sense that Laurentina's deep longing had only grown stronger.
"It's just crystallized calcium tissue left, it's really boring."
The bishop was terrified; he had no lungs, no vocal cords, and the sound was merely a new way for his new body to replace screams.
In the end, Quintus, who had completely lost his ability to react, was crushed into a pile of calcium powder by Lotin, while Laurentina smacked her lips with a hint of lingering satisfaction.
“The orca seemed to be having a lot of fun too. I said, she worries about this and that all day long, how tiring is her life?”
Laurentina also noticed that Skadi had just cleared her mind and refused to listen to the sea creature's babbling. After all, she and Skadi were no longer wandering hunters; they had someone to rely on and no longer needed to worry about self-identity.
She was pleased to see Skadi step out of her previous hesitant and conflicted state and confront her inner self.
Smash anything you hate.
"Shark, you're really awake!"
Skadi was overjoyed that her blood relative and best friend had fully regained their senses.
This wish was her initial connection with Loting.
"Or is it that my obedient nun persona makes you feel less pressured, Orca?"
Laurentina chuckled to herself. Skadi was still as adorably honest as ever, even though her current outfit was quite aggressive, making her look menacing.
"However, my darling will not let you go, orca, you can rest assured about that."
"But how much you can get depends on your own abilities."
At first, Loting thought that the term "darling" was a bit too sweet, but when Laurentina said it in her current state, it was just right, giving people a more unrestrained and mature feeling.
"Honey, darling?"
Skadi couldn't understand why Laurentina was always one step ahead of her.
"From now on, can I call you that in private too...?"
Skadi is the type who accumulates strength gradually before unleashing it. Most of the time, she carries an awkward and innocent shyness, making her seem rather hesitant. However, whenever her desires accumulate to a certain point, she becomes quite forceful.
"As long as you like, my hunter."
Lotin naturally didn't mind this rather intimate form of address, but the problem was that Skadi herself couldn't help but use it without feeling comfortable.
"Consul, do you know why I came here specifically to purge these degenerates who, in your eyes, are even less than beasts?"
Gladys was now caught in the middle and seemed rather awkward, so Lotin asked Laurentina to change the subject to something more serious.
Grandia knew that a thick barrier already existed between her, Laurentina, and Skadi.
They are no longer the deep-sea hunters of the Agorians, but the property of "Nautilus".
"It can't just be about the shark. I can see you love her, but you obviously have something more important to achieve."
Grandia suddenly recalled what Lodin had told her on the Rhodes Island flagship: that the Sea Siren had become a scourge because of manipulation.
"These scum will use their existing understanding to lure those beasts into launching an attack. Ah, those beasts are so shrewd with biomass that the deaths in the big city cannot nourish their colonies."
"But they still managed to penetrate deep into the heart of Agor, the work of those so-called believers."
“Killing these blind and foolish degenerates will dull the evolutionary will of the swarm, which is only concerned with the surplus of nutrients and the continuation of the colony.”
"There were also some terrified degenerates present."
"Let's clean up this Vatican."
Lotin had his nuns and hunters accompany the consul in the hunt, even though he himself could easily crush these Deepsea cultists with a mere flick of his wrist. He was willing to give that opportunity to the hunters and nuns, who were sworn enemies of the Fallen.
As for himself, he used his spare time to compose a narrative suitable for Iberia.
He'd long disliked the Sarkaz statues in front of the church; he figured he might as well replace them with Deep Sea Titans.
Chapter 226: Revising the Precepts
The remaining Deepsea Cultists were opponents that the three hunters did not need to spend too much time dealing with.
The drastic environmental changes in a short period of time have made the dinosaurs that once inhabited this underwater cave sluggish and weak. Lacking a large supply of nutrients, they have even begun to dissolve their own muscles in order to maintain basic activity.
Skadi learned many meaningful lessons from Lotin's ways. She refused to listen to even a single syllable of these degenerates' nonsense. After all, she didn't need to be confused about who she was, nor did she need to seek answers from these people who shared the same filthy blood.
The Grand Inquisitor heard an exaggeratedly loud noise coming from the church, so he and his students came to check the situation. From Dario's perspective, a place that Nautilus personally cleaned up would be somewhat different.
"The entire church has been ripped open, what on earth...?"
Elene knew almost every law of Iberia by heart, and destroying a church was the most serious of all sins.
But the stench of those sea monsters told her that this place had been desecrated and needed purification; as for the church, it could simply be rebuilt. She did suspect that the precepts had become irresistibly rigid, and therefore she wouldn't be able to rigidly adhere to them as she had two years ago.
When faced with the actual elimination of the enemy, these symbolic values take a back seat.
"So fast!"
Elena witnessed the deep-sea hunters' hunt once again, her eyes only able to catch faint, eerie blue afterimages.
"Even fledglings whose wings are not yet fully grown have to be sent to the battlefield; Iberia was so desperate that it had no other choice."
"You and your teacher should be responsible for cleaning up your city and identifying your fellow citizens who are still salvageable."
The awakened Laurentina continues to fulfill the vow she made to Nautilus, acting as his representative to convey her will.
This fledgling bird, which had not received enough baptism, was still considered immature even among the young warriors under the protection of Nautilus.
She was simply offering a friendly reminder to this passionate young man, as someone who had been through the struggle against Hai Si, to justify the terrifying nature of the enemy they were about to face; she meant nothing more than that.
"You, who are you calling a bird! Agor, I am a judge. A warrior of Iberia!"
Whether it was destroying the Deepsea Cult's stronghold or investigating and clearing out the lairs around the safe zone, Elena did it all herself.
However, she had never witnessed the true hell that caused the Punishment Army's group offensive to retreat step by step; she had only seen wounded soldiers in sanatoriums, their spirits broken and trembling.
Clearly, this counter-offensive, launched with the full force of the Iberian nation, was not as difficult as it had been 60 years ago, thanks to Lotin's assistance.
Younger Iberian judges like Elene have no chance to witness the horrors of that time again.
"Don't let it scare you so much that you have nightmares tonight!"
Laurentina acted out of good intentions; as a former deep-sea hunter, she knew the most terrifying aspects of the monsters in the sea.
Elena remained silent, her face flushed red. She still remembered the night two years ago when she ran errands to get her passport, and the terrible nightmares that the Agor ghost nun and the brass water ghost had given her.
"Grand Inquisitor, prepare the Punishment Army to take over the city; the evil here has been eradicated."
Laurentina conveyed Lotin's wishes once again, but this time to Grand Inquisitor Dario.
Dario knew that the real trouble would begin when the Inquisition, under Nautilus's protection, reclaimed a piece of lost territory; rebuilding order on the ruins of civilization was an extremely difficult task.
Hai Si's exploitation of the occupied areas was a true scorched-earth policy, completely destroying the ecosystem and thoroughly draining the soil of its nutrients. It is quite difficult to make these recovered territories truly play a role in production.
But this at least had a good morale-boosting effect. After losing eight saints, the bloody marathon that Iberia had been waging finally took a turn for the better. The punitive army made progress and resolved many contradictions that could have led to Iberia's internal collapse.
Hope is an unattainable word for this generation of Iberians, but the power of the deep-sea titans has illuminated the way forward, and large numbers of the punitive forces have begun to spontaneously pay tithes to Lotin.
One Iberian gold coin after another jingled as it fell to the ground, and the name Nautilus was transforming from a simple Iberian horror tale into a guardian deity who grants all requests.
The debate was already raging within the court, with the conservative Grand Inquisitors arguing that such behavior would undermine the authority of the law and wanting to enact regulations prohibiting the private collection of tithes from Nautilus.
The Grand Inquisitors who fought alongside Lottin on the front lines felt that the tithe was the cheapest price Iberia could pay in exchange for Nautilus's power, and that not only should it not be prohibited, but the rules for paying the tax should be written into the commandments and fixed in place.
Carmen realized Lotin's intentions and understood why the other party was not in a hurry to make Iberia pay a sufficient price.
Because Iberia would willingly prostrate themselves before this giant god, and perhaps one day in the future, the commandments would become a tool for maintaining Nautilus's prestige.
The promised salvation from Sakota did not come, leaving the Iberians disheartened and forced to find their own way out. But Nautilus's power was truly bringing the Iberians back to life.
"If Iberia can be reborn under his protection, then the commandments have now completed their historical mission."
"Just like me, the so-called 'last saint'."
"let it go."
In Carmen's view, as long as Lotin can truly lead Iberia to resolve the threat of the Sea Heirs, there would be no problem in converting the Inquisition back to the state religion and having them worship only him.
After all, he was different from those hypocritical Sakorta people; when he paid the tithe, he was genuinely committed.
The truly great one who saved Iberia deserves to be worshipped by the Iberians.
Ultimately, the "Iberian Tithe" was revised in the form of a set of rules during this counter-offensive, and the preconditions, occasions, and even ritual norms for Iberians to pay the Tithe were established.
Lotin, who was in Saltwind City, also learned of this news, and Dario respectfully delivered the newly revised Iberian Code to Lotin.
"This old man is so sincere."
Laurentina recited the revised Iberian commandments to him, while Lotin remarked that he had thought Iberia would be more stubborn, but the last saint's words had exceeded his expectations.
This old man is indeed a very honest person.
