Deep Sea Hunter, but Deep Sea Titan
Page 150
From Maritus's confession of his crimes, Clementa has learned that the essence of the Haisi is a biological machine left behind by a previous civilization, and that its current state is a consequence of Maritus's machinations.
“The punishment has been carried out, the culprit has been subdued, the corrupt are being eradicated, and the Agor people should devote themselves to making amends for their mistakes.”
“I once visited an ancient nation powerful enough to slay giant beasts, which, like a war bear from an extremely cold land, resisted the incredible evil that surged from the terrible rift.”
"I intend to bring the Haisi back on track from its out-of-control state. Another threat requires their strength to fight against it for a long time, so that it can truly become one of the pillars for the survival of civilization."
Lotin knew that the Agors, through their long-term role in the pre-civilization, had developed an attitude of being a teacher and parent to the terrestrial civilization. This attitude contained both pride and a sense of responsibility as a teacher and patriarch.
With Kelsey's guarantee, Clementa readily accepted Lottin's explanation, while Maritus had rather mixed feelings.
Upon closer examination, weren't all the people present the same in purpose?
He, Malitus, awakened and lured the horde with the intention of continuing civilization in the face of ultimate catastrophe. Even Buodes' original intention was to find another way out after seeing that the Deepsea Hunter Project was not working well.
The problem is that both of them acted quite recklessly without fully understanding Haisi, causing Haisi's true potential to be completely wasted.
"You can now resume normal communication with the Planning Bureau, Your Excellency."
Lotin believed that Herathia must have been furious when he heard Maritus’s ambiguous confession of the crime, but he was even more convinced that his subsequent revelation of his and the Doctor’s identities would force Herathia to swallow his anger.
At this moment, a soldier from the Coast Guard sent a message saying that the deep-sea hunter Ulpian had returned and he requested to see Lotin.
“Ulpian has not fallen; we can trust him.”
Lotin had already confirmed this on the Fool, and now his words were completely convincing to Clementa, so Ulpian arrived at the Consul's office without any hindrance.
"You've already discovered Buodus's suspicious points?"
Ulpian had prepared himself for a late arrival, but he hadn't expected Lotin's progress to be so rapid. The information he had was enough to make him suspect Buodus's motives, but that was all.
"I cleared out most of the sea creatures, Hunter, why were you so slow?"
Lotin nodded. He had originally thought that Urbi Anhui would appear sooner, and that he should have encountered fewer obstacles.
“I was originally gathering intelligence in Haisi’s lair, but I found that these beasts have tightened their information gathering measures. Some outpost-like lairs have even been recycled and abandoned. Haisi has never shown such a contractionary trend as it does today.”
“At first they showed some inertia, but later they began to concentrate their nutrients on shaping something. I was excluded and unable to investigate further, so I came to warn you of this.”
After speaking, Ulpian turned and looked at Buodus, who was kneeling on the ground with lifeless eyes, with an extremely gloomy gaze.
"The enormous losses I have caused to Haisi have forced them to become more cautious."
"Thank you for the information. Perfect timing, the preparations are basically complete, and we don't need to delay any longer."
A blue holographic projection flickered on the astronaut's mask, mimicking Lotin's expression in some way. He looked at Buodus and said,
"Colluding with the Deep Sea Cultists, instigating a mutiny among soldiers, and altering the beacon of the shipping route plan—these are all crimes we have already proven. I want to leave the opportunity for trial to you, Ulpian."
“Let’s talk, Buodus.”
The hunter with superhuman strength dragged the completely broken loser outside the door, a gesture that served as both a reunion between old friends and a judgment on the fallen.
At this point, communication with Heratia was restored.
That was a dignified and beautiful woman, a strong woman with long golden hair, but Goredia described her as a greedy and unrestrained person.
Without a doubt, she was a rather tough ruler and an incompetent mother.
After a brief reminiscing session, Heratia reluctantly began to speak:
"It is my honor to witness the Creator's visit in my lifetime."
The Agorians' arrogance and worship of pre-civilization put Heratia in a dilemma, forcing her to quickly change her demeanor and communicate respectfully with Lotin and the Doctor.
“But I hope you two can give us some time before you begin to teach Agor.”
Herathias was clearly making a veiled protest, and Maritus's holographic broadcast communications had obviously thrown Agor into great confusion.
“But Haisi won’t give us time, Lady Heratia.”
"You just need to tell me the Agors' final decision."
Judging from Heratia's expression, Agor was determined to obey.
"It is Agor's honor to support the Creator's great plan. From this moment on, Agor's national power will support your actions."
Heratia wasn't stupid. The Agorians' overconfident exploitation of the prehistoric civilization's legacy had already caused a disastrous outcome, and she certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to make the same mistake a second time. Dealing with the out-of-control prehistoric civilization's creations under the guidance of the prehistoric civilization's members was clearly a wiser decision.
“If necessary, I will call upon the entire civilization of Tailai to unite in Agor’s name—”
"That won't be necessary; I have my own plans and arrangements. However, I do suggest that the Agorians maintain contact with the land-based nations in a more moderate manner."
Lotin interrupted Heratia. It seemed that the arrogant broadcast from the original storyline was unnecessary to send, but the knowledge contained within it was worth disseminating.
"Next, we will delve deeper into the ruins of that ancient civilization that once imprisoned the nascent beings. I have a feeling that the final battle with Haisi is not far off. This retreat may foreshadow an even fiercer counterattack from Haisi. Be prepared, Lady Heratia."
Lotin shut down the communication without giving Heratia a kind look. Unlike this mother, Goredia felt a little comfortable.
“You seem quite pleased with what’s going on with your mother, Ms. Greta.”
Lotin simply found Greta's reaction amusing; it seemed that her relationship with her mother could no longer be simply described as bad.
"I just couldn't stand her self-righteous attitude, and I cut ties with her a long time ago."
In terms of stubbornness, the mother and daughter are surprisingly similar.
Chapter 252: The Heroic Expedition of Qazimir
The Agor authorities quickly released to Lottin the relevant documents from the exploration of the ruins at Maritus, when the Agor fleet was more powerful than the surviving legions.
Lotin couldn't help but sigh, while the nations of Terra were still fighting each other or struggling to survive, Agor had already formulated a global exploration plan and a space program.
“Mr. Nautilus, don’t you think they’re being a bit too greedy?”
The doctor browsed through the exploration records that Clementa had provided her with a rather amused look. She would never have thought this way before meeting Lotin.
"It is a bit greedy, Doctor, I think so too."
Lotin was well aware that the Doctor had always advocated for preserving parts of the previous civilization's legacy as a gift to the new civilization, but since the confrontation with Theresa in Londinium, the Doctor had changed his mind a lot.
"Yes, the Agorians have unearthed and utilized almost all the technologies of their ancient civilizations that they could safely use, which has enabled them to achieve more brilliant accomplishments than any other land-based nation."
The doctor learned a great lesson from the Sarkaz: sometimes you can't be too kind or too gentle, or these Terrans who receive gifts will get carried away and think it's all their due.
"Under these circumstances, they were still not satisfied. Instead, they were eager to find more dangerous and difficult-to-master technologies. Such a reckless touch and use of the Deep Blue Tree was undoubtedly an arrogant mistake. In my fragmented memories, there are many other dangerous technologies like this."
"For example, devices powerful enough to disrupt the gravity of an entire planet."
The doctor believes that Maritus's reckless decision to lead his team deep into the ruins was a rather wrong one. The rapid extraction of technological heritage from the ruins left by the prehistoric civilization even destroyed the cultural foundation of the Agorians, turning them into ridiculous and deformed imitators of the pre-civilization.
"At least they know how to be grateful and respect those who deserve gratitude."
As he said this, the Doctor suddenly turned to look at Kal'tsit, who had been dutifully acting as a liaison all this time.
It's possible. The Sarkaz's mess is partly her doing; the technology for decompressing Originium—is that something that can be leaked so easily?
Why couldn't Kal'tsit have been as obedient back then as she is now?
"Doctor, please don't keep looking at me like that."
After returning from Londinium, Kal'tsit gradually began to act like a child who had made a mistake in front of the Doctor, cautiously begging for her mother's forgiveness. The Doctor and Amiya became closer, while he treated Amiya with a punitive and stern attitude.
In hindsight, the doctor's decision to be stricter with Hakika was correct; rather, it was a case of being too lenient and neglecting her education before.
The green Filin now standing before her with its ears drooping was completely different from the Kal'tsit she knew.
"I still prefer having Amiya around, but Rhodes Island can't be without a leader."
"However, I am very satisfied with your recent performance, Dr. Kal'tsit. Keep it up and be a good girl."
While the Doctor and Kal'tsit were chatting, Agor's pilot fleet was ready. This fleet did not have a strong armed force; its only purpose was to guide Lotin to the ruins.
“An enemy fighting a desperate battle often unleashes a more astonishing and deadly counterattack. Grand Inquisitor, please have you and your students organize a defensive line on the Iberian coast. I will have at least three land-based nations send reliable reinforcements to assist you in your defense.”
"When I put the reins on the sea creatures, their resistance will be more intense than ever before. At that time, even I will not be able to watch over every corner of the defense line. These fish that slip through the net must be dealt with by you personally."
Luo Ting has switched back to the [Shan Hai Hui Juan] skin, but hasn't grown to giant size yet.
“I will keep your advice in mind, Lord Nautilus.”
Dario and Elene, who had come with Lotin to make contact with the Agorians, also felt a long-lost sense of immense pressure, especially Dario, who took Lotin's warning very seriously.
While the Agorians were preparing their pilot fleet, Lotin used Teleport to return to Kazimir, accompanied by Skadi.
At this critical juncture, Lotin would not allow Skadi to leave his side even for a moment. In the original main storyline timeline, Skadi and Isamara probably formed some kind of symbiotic relationship.
His orca, however, is going a step further. She is trying to suppress and absorb Isamara, a process that cannot be taken lightly, so Lotin must always keep her by his side.
Although the Giant Knights destroyed the garrison fleet of Kazimierz, the presence of Nautilus created a stronger deterrent, which actually reduced the defense pressure on Kazimierz.
Thus, the surplus resources were used to gradually alleviate some of the deadly problems that had accumulated in Kazimierz, and the Great Knight Territory was beginning to show signs of a new beginning in its efforts to restore production and daily life.
To facilitate Lotin's teleportation, Margaret built a simple ceremonial shrine for the Knight of Light.
Margaret was clear-headed; her power actually came from this giant knight, and this divinely ordained form would undoubtedly better utilize Nautilus's influence to stabilize the domestic situation.
"Lord Nautilus?"
Margaret, who was used to being burdened with heavy official duties, saw a purple beam of light pierce down from the sky. She twisted her slightly stiff arms, stood up, and quickly hurried to the shrine.
"Long time no see, Margaret Nearl."
"The time has come for noble knights to unite against the common enemy."
Upon hearing what Lottin said, Margaret quickly realized that it was related to the "ultimate darkness" that Lottin had mentioned to her before.
"You need knights to join you in killing the sea?"
"Kill the ocean? Hahaha!"
Lotin couldn't help but laugh. Margaret, as a ruler whom he had forced into the position, had indeed become quite mature, but she still had no idea about the various dangers surrounding Terra.
“Kazimir doesn’t need to risk his life with me. All you need to do is reinforce the frontline fortresses of civilization fighting against the Abyssal Gluttons. After all, that’s also about protecting your own homeland.”
"If a cornered beast breaks through Iberia, no one will escape unscathed."
"When I put the collars back on the animals, that's when they will resist the most."
Ulpian's intelligence does indeed indicate that Hai Si is brewing something big, so it's always good to be prepared.
Anyway, these Terrans only need to withstand the aftershocks; only Lotin himself has the ability to handle the bigger ones.
Margaret understood the reasoning behind it all; the Hais wouldn't just eat the Leitanians and Ursusians while ignoring the Kazimierz.
"The more your methods of warfare resemble those of Kazimierz, the better, so that those beasts will spend more time adapting."
"The Agorians will be broadcasting soon, and they will share the necessary knowledge with you."
After speaking, Lotin stopped and carefully examined this Margaret, who was completely different from the original character—not Margaret as the Radiant Knight, but Margaret as the ruler of Kazimierz.
"The stench of blood on you is stronger now, Radiant Knight. You have thwarted many meticulously planned assassinations."
Lotin specifically called her the Radiant Knight, her former title, which carried the title she originally aspired to.
He had been keeping an eye on these hostile activities against Margaret, but he felt it was not necessary to intervene directly, because he believed that Margaret needed to learn from these experiences and grow stronger.
Lotin could not allow his agent in the Kazimierz tax district to be assassinated; that would be an insult to him and a betrayal of the Kazimierz protection agreement.
“Your deterrence has virtually eliminated the possibility of a full-scale war, so there have been attempts to assassinate me to plunge Kazimierz into civil war. I had to send my uncle away from me with Maria for the time being.”
Margaret flawlessly thwarted several bloody murders against her, using equally bloody methods, and her light gradually became somewhat dazzling.
"If your brilliance also becomes superficial and covered with dust, that would be too boring."
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not telling you to be soft on the enemy, it's just—don't get too caught up in it."
"If you feel unbearable pressure because of these assassinations, then call upon my power."
Margaret nodded heavily. She was very grateful to Lotte for repeatedly admonishing her to stay true to her original aspirations, but the slightly sullen Miss Orca made her a little apprehensive.
Clearly, Lottin's paternalistic concern for Margaret made Skadi somewhat unhappy, but she restrained herself as always, not wanting to cause Lottin any trouble in important matters.
"That's enough of the warnings. I will join you in launching a heroic expedition later."
"Time is of the essence, so keep everything simple."
Chapter 253: Venting the Sarkaz's War Desire
"Lord Nautilus, you say that the mysterious maritime nation will share its knowledge of combating the Sea Kings with the entire landmass?"
Margaret assembled the newly formed Silver Spear Pegasus, drawing upon the most elite and unique fighting force in Kazimierz, as requested by Lotin.
These new generation members, whom she nurtured and built entirely, possess an extraordinary loyalty to the Radiant Knight herself. The descendants of heroes continue to grow into heroes, and Margaret's sense of destiny and responsibility brings a vague mystical fervor to these young warriors.
