"it is good!"
Franklin finally breathed a sigh of relief; raising a child had been difficult.
Locke, however, continued to smile at him. "Little brat, you're too naive. Controlling the gender of your offspring isn't something you can do just by using your abilities."
The three of them quickly finished their afternoon tea, paid the bill, and left the coffee shop.
Franklin was getting anxious and couldn't help but tug at Locke's arm: "Dad, Dad, they're all gone, why aren't they going up?"
Locke calmly finished the last sip of his coffee: "No rush."
"You little brat, you don't want Susan Stone to find out what you've done one day, do you?"
"Mom won't know."
"Really, you definitely won't know?"
Franklin was speechless. Just because he could travel through timelines at will didn't mean others couldn't. What if someone really didn't want him to achieve diversity and was deliberately trying to cause trouble?
"What should we do, Dad?"
"Of course, I'll tell her everything!"
Franklin was completely bewildered. If he really did that, as the son, he was certain that his mother would be furious! It might even incite her rebellious spirit!
"So, kid, although your ability to travel through time has given you a knowledge base far exceeding that of normal people, there are some things that cannot be understood simply by looking at them."
"Next, all you need to do is watch quietly and listen attentively."
After hesitating for a moment, Franklin finally nodded and chose to trust the father he had personally chosen.
Chapter 86 A Phone Call
The three of them walked slowly along the road, and before they knew it, it had gotten dark.
Susan asked in confusion, "Why did it get dark so quickly today?"
Ben glanced at his watch curiously: "Strange, why are the hands of my watch spinning randomly?"
Susan glanced at it quickly and exclaimed, "Mine is spinning around too! And my phone has no signal, and the time on it is all messed up."
Reed's expression suddenly turned grim: "Something's not right. We've only been walking for 1 hour, 23 minutes, and 57 seconds. It shouldn't be dark yet!"
Ben asked, puzzled, "Reed, how did you know?"
"There are many indicators that can tell time, such as breathing and heartbeat. I keep track of time whenever I'm bored!"
Book:? ? ? ?
Are all geniuses this eccentric? They actually keep their own timer all the time? Just so that one day the time will malfunction?
I didn't understand it at first, but I was deeply shocked!
"Wait, look what's that?"
Susan suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
The other two looked in the direction of the sound and saw that, out of nowhere, a small shop had appeared in this pitch-black hell. The shop was small, emitting a faint light, and inexplicably gave people a unique sense of mystery.
This little shop seemed to have a magical power, drawing the three of them in without them even realizing it.
Upon approaching, the three saw a man—a very handsome man with a unique and mysterious aura. He was very attractive and gave the impression that he was no ordinary person; ordinary people wouldn't possess such a mysterious aura.
In front of the man was a crystal ball, filled with a magnificent scene like a starry sky.
Looking at the three guests, the mysterious man smiled strangely: "Welcome to the Land of Return to the Ruins."
"The Land of Ruins? What is that?" Reed, the smartest and most curious of them all, asked first.
"The Land of Ruins is a place abandoned by time and space. Only those affected by time and space, or those chosen by fate, can possibly come here."
Reed frowned even deeper: "The tone of your voice makes it hard for me to believe you're not a charlatan."
The mysterious man smiled without saying a word, then pointed into the distance: "You can try it. Just pick a direction and run a few steps."
Reed actually started running; there's no doubt about the stubbornness of a smart person at times.
Five minutes later, Reed, who had inexplicably returned to his original spot, looked on incredulously: "Impossible!"
"This is unreasonable! It's not scientific!"
Suddenly, Reed seemed to realize something: "You're a superhuman! This is an illusion?"
"Intelligent people often appear foolish because they overestimate their intelligence. Reed Charlize, why don't you abandon your stubbornness and try to believe in yourself?"
"Because it's not scientific, and it's also..." Before he could finish speaking, Ben covered his mouth.
At this moment, Ben and Susan exchanged a glance and sighed almost imperceptibly. Reed, that guy with zero emotional intelligence, always managed to make bad things worse.
Ben held Reed down, while Susan gently stroked her hair and stepped forward, revealing a stunning smile: "My mysterious Mr. Sticky, may I ask, how do we leave this... Ruins of Return?"
The mysterious man gently stroked the crystal ball on the table: "This is the omniscient ball; it can know everything in this world—past, present, and future."
"Leaving here is simple: ask a question that the omniscient sphere cannot answer, or each person asks three complete questions."
A surge of power instantly welled up within Reed, allowing him to break free from Ben's restraints and leap to the mysterious man, placing his hands on the table.
"Remember what you said! My question now is, how can I find out the answer to a question you can't answer?!"
A white light shone on the crystal ball, and after a few seconds, the light faded, returning it to its magnificent, star-like colors.
The mysterious man said, "The Sphere of Omniscience cannot answer your question."
Reed laughed excitedly, "Looks like I won! Now you should do what you said!"
"of course."
After saying that, the mysterious man waved his hand, and Reed disappeared from the spot.
Seeing this, Susan and Ben, who were left behind, swallowed hard for some reason.
With a wave of his hand, the weapon was gone—this was definitely a mysterious technique! Ordinary people couldn't possibly do that! At this moment, a sense of awe filled the two of them.
Just then, the mysterious man suddenly laughed, shaking his head as he laughed.
"What a laughable person!"
As a good friend, Ben couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable upon hearing this. Of course, he wouldn't be as foolish as Reed. He took a deep breath and asked, "Sir, what do you mean by that?"
The mysterious man looked at Ben: "Do you remember what I said before? What kind of person could possibly come here?"
Upon hearing this, Susan replied, "Those affected by the effects of time and space, and those chosen by fate, right?"
The mysterious man nodded: "That's right, exactly."
"Do you know that in your world, there is an extremely powerful being that suppresses all time and space with its own power? Not to mention the effects of time and space itself, even a more terrifying time-space storm could not reach your world."
Ben suddenly asked, "Are you talking about superheroes? Iron Man? Captain America? Spider-Woman, and the like?"
The mysterious man shook his head: "Then you'll have to find out for yourselves."
"The question goes back to the beginning. Since there is no impact from time and space, then only the choice of fate remains."
"There is a powerful being from the future who could not bear the trouble Reed would cause in the future, so they paid a huge price to bring Reed into this Ruins of Return, so that Reed could glimpse a bit of the future and avoid the tragedy he caused. In fact, you two were also brought here for this reason."
"Now, this key figure, through his own cleverness, has successfully given up the opportunity that this person from the future created at an immense cost."
At this moment, Susan and Ben inexplicably began to believe this obviously absurd claim. The reason was simple: no one knew Reed better than the two of them. That guy was the type whose mind was so rigid that once it was made up, no one could stop him.
With a personality like that, it's no surprise that he's caused a lot of trouble. In fact, Reed had caused a lot of trouble before, but it was all resolved in the end. The price he paid was that Reed went bankrupt more than a dozen times.
Most of the PhDs like Reed already have their own private labs, and some are even worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Only Reed is now struggling with rent.
With this thought in mind, the two looked at the crystal ball with a heavier gaze.
Ben spoke first: "Reed has left, can we continue asking questions?"
The mysterious figure nodded: "Of course, that's your right."
Ben took a deep breath: "Then let me ask first, what kind of big trouble has Reed caused in the future?"
As soon as the words were spoken, the crystal ball began to twinkle, and then a series of images appeared in their vision.
The first scene: Reed is studying a strange thing that looks like a person, but the blood and stuff don't look human. It's more like something out of a movie - a zombie!
While studying the zombies, Reed suddenly made a discovery and shouted excitedly, "So that's it! So that's it! They're not destruction, they're evolution! They're the future of humanity!"
The next moment, Reed picked up the zombie head and bit it into his shoulder. Then, he quickly called over Susan and Ben's friends. While they were confused and didn't know what was happening, Reed quickly turned into a zombie and pounced on Susan and the others, splattering blood and flesh everywhere.
This horrifying scene caused Susan, who was watching, to cover her mouth and tremble slightly.
Even Ben, a giant over 1.8 meters tall, couldn't help but gasp repeatedly.
In the second scene, a terrifying being appears in their sight. It is a terrifying being that humans cannot describe in words; the only word that can be conceived is 'God'!
The next moment, Reed appeared opposite his opponent, holding a strange object in his hand, and arrogantly said to the 'god' opposite him: "Divine Rune, I have found a way to defeat you, so let's destroy everything in advance!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Reed instantly manipulated the strange object in his hand, completely destroying the entire universe.
At this moment, even Ben stared wide-eyed, dumbfounded at the scene before him.
"Hiss, how is this possible? Reed, Reed, he..."
The third image continues to play.
In a laboratory, Reed was talking to another person.
“Tony Stark, that’s Iron Man!” Ben exclaimed immediately. He clearly recognized the man. To be more precise, Iron Man had never hidden his identity; he was the most high-profile of all superheroes.
The scene shows two people talking.
Reed said, "Tony, that last thing is in your head."
Tony Stark's expression turned grave: "I understand what you mean. I approve of your actions. I'm handing that thing over to you, and my life is in your hands too!"
Tony Stark in the picture clearly has great faith in Reed.
The next moment, Reed swiftly tore open Tony Stark's brain, took out a gem, and became completely absorbed in looking at the gem in his hand. He turned around and began to study it, leaving Tony Stark, who had entrusted his life to him, standing there. A moment later, the instrument that symbolized Tony Stark's life quietly returned to a flat line.
If the first image evoked fear and the second image evoked horror, then this image is truly shocking!
Even Susan and Ben, Reed's two best friends, were speechless with shock. How could Reed do that? How could he do such a thing!
For some inexplicable reason, he turned into a zombie and bit all his friends to death. In order to defeat an enemy and destroy the entire universe, he even abandoned Iron Man, who had entrusted his life to him, and let the other die.
This is Reed, this is Reed...
The two of them inexplicably felt a chill, a chill that came from the depths of their hearts.
Susan suddenly gritted her teeth: "Impossible! I don't believe Reed would do that!"
Ben clenched his fist tightly: "Although that guy can be a jerk sometimes, making me want to punch him, I don't believe he would actually do it!"
The mysterious man said indifferently, "Believe it or not, it's up to you. All you have to do is ask three questions. Whether you believe it or not won't have much impact on the future, just like you can't change Reed's decision."
These words stirred up inexplicable feelings in Susan and Ben. Given Reed's personality, they really couldn't stop him if those scenarios from happening...
Well, that might not give them a reassuring answer.
At this moment, Susan suddenly exchanged glances with Ben. Despite being a big guy, Ben wasn't stupid. He just couldn't match the intelligence of Reed, a true genius. With the tacit understanding he shared with Susan as old friends, he immediately understood what she meant.
"Now, may I ask my second question?"
"of course."
After thinking for a moment, he asked, "What is the name of the husband of my grandmother's nephew's brother's sister, and the brother-in-law of my neighbor's older brother?"
The crystal ball flashed only once before giving the answer: "Thomas Vaughn."
Suddenly, Ben's whole body went limp. That's right, it actually worked!
This was a question a relative asked him as a joke. Who else but him and that relative could possibly answer such a question?
Susan clearly noticed Ben's change and was immediately shocked. The terrifying future Reed was about to face was once again proven true.
Ben's face suddenly contorted into a hideous grimace, as if in a final, frenzied rage: "I still don't believe it. One last question: what is my son's name?!"
This question will never have an answer, because as the father, he has the right to name the child; he only needs to refuse that name! He wants to use this foolish method to prove his friend right one last time.
Soon, a name appeared: "Jenny Graham".
Ben laughed immediately: "Who would choose such a stupid name?"
"Okay, I've finished asking my questions."
When it was Susan's turn to step forward, her expression was somewhat complicated: "I don't know what to ask."
