“This wasn’t in the plan…” Kirito murmured, the skill effects on his black sword flickering erratically. He quickly scanned the battlefield, his mind racing through the closed beta data, but he couldn’t find any relevant records.

Aikir's gruff voice broke the brief silence: "Hey! This giant tortoise doesn't care if you're spacing out or not!"

As if sensing something, the giant tortoise suddenly went berserk, the runes on its shell flashing wildly. Amidst the flying debris, the entire lakeshore trembled.

The moment Kissmare and Mochizuki Kaede's eyes met, a resolute glint flashed in Kissmare's purple eyes.

"Leave this to us!" Diabel's weapon burst forth with a dazzling light as he shouted decisively, "The giant tortoise is severely injured; we can handle it. You all go and reinforce the fortress!"

Without hesitation, Mochizuki Kaede turned around: "Asuna! Silica!"

"Understood!" Asuna's rapier clattered back into its sheath, and she took a step to catch up with Mochizuki Kaede, her chestnut hair drawing a smooth arc as she spun around.

Silica nimbly caught the spinning moon wheel as it flew back, adjusted her breathing, and her small face was full of determination: "I'm ready!"

With a swift movement of his saber, half of the Dark Elf guards immediately broke away from the battlefield: "Third and Fifth Squads, return to defense with me!"

Behind him came Diabel's high-pitched battle roar and the giant tortoise's painful hiss, but all of this had already faded from Mochizuki Maple's hearing.

All that remained in his vision was the burning fortress. The arrow tower on the east side had completely collapsed, and a hideous gap had been blasted open in the south wall, with black smoke spiraling upwards like a giant python.

At the breach in the city wall, unfamiliar flags could be faintly seen fluttering in the wind.

Kismael's saber was already drawn, its blade reflecting her solemn face: "It's the banner of the fallen elves!"

About twenty enemies were pouring in through the breach in the damaged city wall.

They had clearly planned this all along, taking advantage of the fortress guards being out hunting the giant tortoise to launch a surprise attack in a specially made black gondola.

Leading the group was a tall, thin general clad in black and red composite armor, his crimson cloak billowing behind him like blood. Most striking was the grotesque mask he wore, a black mask with two curved horns extending from his forehead, and eerie red light emanating from the slits in his eyes.

A scarlet system icon floated above his head: [Fallen Elf General: Norza].

The city lord was leading the remaining guards in a desperate resistance. His longsword clashed with the enemy's serrated blades, creating blinding sparks. Several dark elf guards had already fallen on the surrounding stone slabs.

Norza's hoarse voice pierced the battlefield: "It's time to end this."

His crimson eyes flickered behind the mask, and his serrated longsword suddenly erupted with a blinding blood-red light. The blade drew a strange arc, and the city lord's hastily parried sword was cleaved in two!

Just as the serrated longsword was about to pierce the city lord's chest—

"clang!"

A silvery arc of light tore through the air, striking the spine of the serrated longsword. In the instant sparks flew, Norza's red pupils beneath his mask contracted sharply. He flicked his wrist, the serrated longsword dancing before him in a blood-red light, forcefully deflecting the incoming crescent moon.

The echo of the metal clashing had not yet faded when the emerald-green sword light pierced through the air. Norza hastily retreated half a step, the blade grazing the horn of the mask, leaving a charred mark on the keratin layer.

Before I could even get my footing, my vision was filled with golden lightning.

Mochizuki Kaede's slash came suddenly; before the blade even arrived, the violent electric current had already made Norza's hair stand on end.

"Thorn--!"

Norza's composite armor creaked under the weight of the lightning, tiny sparks flying from cracks in the breastplate. He staggered back three steps, each step leaving a spiderweb of cracks in the stone slab.

He glanced down at the wound on his chest, then suddenly let out a sinister laugh like that of an owl: "Heh..."

Before he finished speaking, his cloak suddenly billowed without wind, and dozens of poisoned short arrows shot out from its folds. Wang Yuefeng spun around and swung his blade, lightning forming a dense net that knocked down all the arrows.

Meanwhile, the dark elf guards brought by Qizmael were already engaged in battle with the fallen elves.

In the midst of the chaos, Kismer's saber suddenly thrust from the flank, its tip gleaming with a blinding purple light. Norza, however, seemed to have eyes in the back of his head, abruptly ducking and simultaneously slamming his elbow down on Kismer like a hammer blow.

"clang!"

Mochizuki Kaede's lightning blade flashed between the two, precisely blocking Norza's elbow strike.

The metal arm guard clashed with the lightning blade, sparking a burst of blinding sparks. Mochizuki Kaede used the momentum to spin around, the blade slicing upwards along Norza's arm, forcing him to take three steps back.

"Not bad." Norza shook his numb arm, his red eyes beneath the mask flashing with a dangerous light.

Testimonials

This book is about to hit the shelves.

Q: Why did you suddenly want to write Sword Art Online fanfiction?

A: Because I like the female characters in it.

That's how "I Became a Sword Saint in Sword Art Online" came about.

This is my first time writing about the Sword Art Online theme, so please feel free to offer suggestions if there are any shortcomings.

The only female character from SAO who hasn't appeared yet is Yuna. Once she's introduced, the story will likely speed up. After SAO ends, the series will continue with ALO, GGO, and UW.

In short, I will continue writing.

Thank you to all the readers who have supported this book; your support is my motivation to keep updating.

Chapter 64: The Fourth Floor Boss

"Not bad." Norza shook his numb arm, his red eyes beneath the mask flashing with a dangerous light.

He slowly straightened up, and the cracks on his breastplate began to heal at a visible speed, oozing out an eerie purple mist.

His voice carried a condescending contempt: "Humans, this is a conflict between us Fallen Elves and Dark Elves. You'd better not interfere."

Mochizuki Kaede's lightning blade remained motionless, pointing at his opponent's throat, the arcs of electricity crackling on the blade reflecting on his cold, handsome profile. Asuna's rapier blocked Norza's retreat on the other side, its tip gleaming with a cold, emerald light.

"It seems we can't reach an agreement."

Norza suddenly let out a piercing laugh, his figure vanishing from the spot like a ghost. Leaving only a blur in the air, he was already upon Mochizuki Kaede, his serrated longsword slashing down with a shrill whistling sound as it tore through the air.

"clang--!"

Lei Dao parried precisely, and the two weapons collided, sparks flying.

Asuna's elven sword thrust in from the side, its blade suddenly bursting with a dazzling emerald green light—a prelude to unleashing a sword technique.

Norza was forced to step back and dodge, and at that moment, Silica's full moon wheel roared down from the sky, forcing him to retreat again.

Norza's crimson pupils beneath his ferocious mask locked onto Silica in the distance—the human girl who was constantly using her flying wheel to disrupt the battle.

His crimson cloak billowed as a poisoned short arrow shot out.

Just as the arrow was about to hit Silica, Kissmael's kite shield appeared just in time, and the poisoned arrow exploded into poisonous flowers on the shield's surface.

Almost simultaneously, Mochizuki Kaede's lightning blade slashed down with immense force, while Asuna's sword light struck like an emerald meteor.

Norza's serrated longsword trembled violently under the combined attack of the lightning blade and the elven sword, and several fallen elves wanted to rush forward to help.

"Silica!" Mochizuki Kaede called out in a low voice.

"Understood!" Silica, already poised in the distance, unleashed a silver crescent moon that cleaved through the sky, repelling the fallen elves. At the same time, Kismer's saber blocked the fallen elves.

Norza peered through the trembling blade at the two humans he was wrestling with; he hadn't expected them to be so strong.

Just when the battle reached a stalemate—

"Mochizuki Kaede, we're here!"

Diabel's voice came from afar.

He led Kirito and Agil through the breach in the fortress.

Norza's red pupils, hidden beneath the mask, contracted violently.

He clearly hadn't expected the Dark Elves to have so many human reinforcements, let alone that each of these humans was a force to be reckoned with. The few he was currently dealing with were already keeping him busy; if they were to receive further reinforcements, even someone of his strength might not be able to escape unscathed.

"Retreat!" Norza made a decisive decision without the slightest hesitation, coldly issuing the order.

Just as Wang Yuefeng and his group were preparing to give chase, five giant waves suddenly erupted from the lake.

Five giant crabs burst from the water, waving their massive pincers to block their path. The remaining fallen elves seized the opportunity to leap onto the specially made black gondola, whose hull immediately glowed with an eerie red light.

The black gondola slowly started moving.

"We will meet again, human." Norza's voice drifted on the receding ship. His crimson cloak fluttered in the wind, and his狰狞 mask concealed his expression.

The five giant crabs of destruction stood like loyal guards, blocking the pursuit until the black gondola completely disappeared into the mist on the lake.

Afterwards, Mochizuki Kaede and the others quickly dealt with the five Destruction Crabs blocking their path, their lightning blades and rapiers leaving cracks in the crabs' hard shells. Silica's Crescent Moon Wheel accurately struck their joints, and together with Diabel and Kirito's powerful attacks, they quickly reduced the monsters to fragments and vanished.

Kizmael directed the remaining dark elf guards to take stock of the casualties. The city lord stood with the support of his attendants, his hand tightly gripping the longsword that Norza had broken in half.

After the battlefield was cleared, everyone went to the city lord's room.

The city lord had changed into a formal dark blue robe and was sitting behind his desk.

"First of all, please allow me, on behalf of the Yofer family, to express our sincerest gratitude to you all. You not only successfully defeated the two-headed ancient giant tortoise, but also repelled the attack of the fallen elves at a critical moment."

The city lord said, "The Fallen Elves' actions this time were clearly premeditated. They used some kind of secret method to control the two-headed ancient giant tortoise to create chaos, and launched a surprise attack while our main force was away. Their goal was to seize this fortress and the [Emerald Key]."

The city lord looked up and scanned the crowd, a slight smile playing on his lips: "But they didn't expect that we would have such strong reinforcements as you on our side."

As he spoke, he produced a crimson emblem, as red as fire:

"As agreed, this is the pass to the Yofer family's secret treasure—the Tower of Heaven."

The "Tower of Heaven" mentioned by the city lord is the maze area where the fourth-floor boss is located.

Diabel stepped forward and accepted the emblem: "Thank you very much, this is exactly what we came here for."

The city lord then asked, "You entered the Tower of Heavenly Pillars, presumably to challenge the Guardian Beast, right?"

Diabel replied, "Yes, we're here to challenge the boss on the fourth floor."

The city lord nodded: "In that case, this treasure will be yours to use. But the guardian beast in the fourth tower... although I only know of it from ancient legends, it is said to possess some kind of strange power."

"A strange power...?"

Diabel paused for a moment.

In his memories from the closed beta, the fourth-floor boss was a creature called the "Hawk," with the upper body of a fierce eagle and the lower body of a lithe horse. Although its sharp beak attacks were quite deadly, in the enclosed boss room, its wide wings could only create strong winds that obscured vision. The battles at the time were intense, but never truly grueling, and he never witnessed any "strange powers."

However, Diabel also knew that many things were different during the public beta compared to the closed beta.

"The guardian beast of this floor..." The city lord tapped the table lightly with his fingers, making a dull sound, "is called the [Horse-Headed Fish-Tailed Monster]. Its front half is that of a horse, but its back half is that of a giant fish."

He slowly rose and walked toward the mural on the wall. The painting depicted a strange creature stirring up towering waves: "Legend has it that it possesses the terrifying ability to control water. Even in the driest desert, it can instantly turn a battlefield into an ocean."

Diabel's pupils contracted slightly.

This is completely different from the closed beta testing period.

The eagle confined to a closed space was worlds apart from this monster that could manipulate water.

"Most importantly..." the city lord revealed a crucial piece of information: "Those who confront this horse-headed, fish-tailed monster must possess a spell that allows them to float on water. Otherwise, once trapped in the ocean it creates, they will be in dire straits, with little chance of survival."

These words exploded like thunder.

Sure enough, the boss on the fourth floor is different from the one in the closed beta, just like the kobold lord's katana on the first floor and the Taurus King on the second floor.

Diabel had already pictured the scene in his mind: the boss room was flooded, and the only exit was blocked. If the raiding party were to be submerged in the inescapable boss room, they would likely be wiped out!
