Seeing the girl clutching the cookbook on the table, determined to read it carefully, Herren's face turned ashen with despair.
How could one possibly prepare such a bizarre and illogical dish? Herren was utterly baffled; its incredible skill sent chills down her spine.
"I'll use the results of this training to please Mr. Bell!"
Herren hung his head in frustration.
After the girl finished the other two or three dishes, Herren painfully tasted them and put the food that was still palatable into the basket.
The thought of sacrificing himself... no, sacrificing the others who came to help with the food tasting so that a certain boy's stomach could barely be saved, even though Helen knew it was venting his anger, still couldn't suppress the resentment in his heart.
However, she also deeply understood that the boy was trying his best to overcome his difficulties.
"I'm heading out now!"
"Ah! Please, please wait a moment! Protect them...!"
"Don't worry! After I go to the orphanage, I'll head straight to the bar!"
Helen watched the girl's retreating figure as she hurriedly finished her preparations, and after giving up hope, he spoke:
"Um, please be careful on your journey... Lady Hield..."
After much hesitation, she finally said those words.
The girl, Seele, responded with a bright smile.
"Okay, I'm heading out now!"
Chronicles of the Families Episode: Freya's Afterword
Before writing.
Editor-in-Chief: "Approximately how many pages will the original manuscript be?"
Author: "The desert chapter is 170 pages, plus the new short story, it'll be about 250 pages, right?"
Editor-in-Chief: "Okay, it's settled then!"
On the day of the deadline.
Editor-in-Chief: "Is the original manuscript finished?"
Author: "Yes, the desert chapter is three hundred pages long!"
Editor-in-Chief: "Come and sit down."
Despite the aforementioned setbacks, the reality is that the page count of each volume continues to increase at an alarming rate. At this rate, for a light novel author, it's no joke how dire the situation is. Imagine a new series' first volume being a whopping 500 pages long—what kind of idiot is this? I'm genuinely feeling a sense of crisis facing this hopeless future, especially since I've finally managed to complete the second volume of the Familia Chronicles. I apologize for the more than two-year gap between this and the previous volume.
Unlike the first volume of the Familia Chronicles, which required detailed descriptions of many characters, and given that Lady Mikoto's faction always had to make a grand spectacle of everything they did, there were endless explanations to offer. However, I genuinely felt this was highly inappropriate. And I never imagined I'd feel the most nervous while writing the afterword. In short, I'm not joking; I strongly felt I had to carefully manage the page count while writing. The next volume can't be so "heavy" anymore; it needs to be "lighter"...!
As with the epilogue of the previous episode, this time it's about the goddess of beauty and her kin.
Speaking of which, every time the topic turns to the goddess of beauty, the content gets a little erotic, which makes me always submit the manuscript with a "Is it okay? Is it alright?" feeling. But since the editor didn't say anything, I stopped worrying about it and let the book be published. Anyway, in all the novels published by Helin Publishing House, the desert is often related to romance, so please bear with me!
What made me happiest was seeing the prince (I didn't mistype) who made a cameo appearance as the heroine in this work grow and mature. The short story "Ari and Her Eight Kin," which I was fortunate enough to have serialized on GANGAN GA, I feel is also the story of this prince. Finally, while writing about her deeds, I experienced a strange and poignant feeling.
As for the "strongest" adventurers, who are on par with the Sword Maiden's clan, they wreaked havoc far beyond the allotted number of pages. Although it's only now that I realize how unique their personalities are, I'm genuinely happy for them, while also feeling an irresistible urge to wail.
Although the Wild Boar Warrior and the Fighting Cat Chariot appear frequently in this game, I was thrilled to see the White Elf, who I had worried had the weakest presence, finally get to show off his skills.
The Lilliputian Quadruplets' writing style, which conveyed a sense of "that's just how these four brothers are," really got me into it.
The Dark Elf made me feel, "Finally, I'm writing about you!"
In other words, what am I trying to express by saying all this? It's that I, the author, prefer the goddess-themed faction.
While describing the characters, although I set the stage in the desert entirely out of personal interest, part of the reason was to revisit key elements that I've used in the series' world-building. Therefore, future Familia Chronicles might very well continue to be set in locations outside of the Labyrinth City. I hope to gradually expand the world-building of this work through this approach.
Next is the newly written "Past Chapter," which I'm treating as just another form of "public setting," but I believe readers familiar with Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? will find it more enjoyable. While I can't be sure if this ambition will ever come to fruition, once the main characters' stories have come to an end, I hope to write a story about the "strongest" under the command of the god (Zeus) and goddess (Hera).
I apologize for taking up so much space even for the epilogue. Now, let's move on to the acknowledgments.
To Matsumoto, editor-in-chief Kitamura, and all staff involved in the publication of this book, I apologize for extending the deadline again. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience caused to illustrator Niritsu…! Despite the repeated delays in the original manuscript, you still managed to create such beautiful illustrations; I am incredibly grateful. I also sincerely thank you for your support and patience in finally releasing the second volume after such a long wait.
Furthermore, this was my first time tackling a desert setting, and I was really struggling with the writing. So, I shamelessly asked Awamura Akami, a senior author at GA Bunko, to help supervise the manuscript. Despite being very busy, Awamura readily agreed and generously offered her guidance, which was a huge help to me. I'm truly grateful to her.
The next episode will most likely be about a fox-girl from the Far East.
Furthermore, the main character is expected to make a significant appearance in this series for the first time. There may also be unexpected characters appearing, so please stay tuned.
Thank you for patiently reading this far.
Then I'll take my leave now.

「… … ?」
It's quiet at night.
Bell sensed something was off.
The private room in the mansion, used as a base, was dimly lit, with a bluish-white glow emanating from the drawn curtains. The moon must have already risen. Unlike the light from the magic stone lamp, this eerie light shone through the curtains into the room. A scene straight out of a fantasy.
Lying in bed, Belle first noticed the warm sensation of her body in close contact with others.
Next, I felt an itch from the breath brushing against my neck.
She slowly opened her sleepy eyes.
As the view gradually came into focus, a fox was nestled close to me, as if we had already exchanged a contract as partners.
"Varied--"
Bell was speechless.
Silky blonde hair reflecting the azure moonlight.
Like emerald eyes shimmering and shining in the clear water.
Her beautiful face concealed a high-pressure nature, and her small cherry lips were subtly alluring.
Faced with a scene so unimaginably mundane, the boy couldn't even feel the pounding in his heart; he was stunned, as if time had stopped.
"Yes, I'm sorry, Lord Bell."
The fox-girl, Haruhime, is dressed in only a small garment.
The red kimono and obi that had been taken off were still on the floor.
Feel the softness of the limbs pressed tightly against my chest, the warmth transmitted through my skin and the pounding heart of a distressed young girl.
Bell froze when she saw the girl looking at her with teary eyes.
"You seem a little tired today... I am unworthy to be your bedmate."
"...!?"
Before she knew it, Chun Ji straightened up, stepped over Bell's body, and looked down at Bell with her emerald green eyes.
Despite her flushed cheeks and shyness, Chun Ji now possessed the allure of a prostitute in the night. Contrary to the "spring" in her name, the atmosphere around her was both pristine and decadent.
Moonlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, illuminating her slender neck, and her long, golden hair cascaded down the back of her neck with a rustling sound.
"The only thing I can do is... I can only do such obscene things... Even so, I cannot repay your kindness..."
Her slender fingers unbuttoned her bra, revealing her full, swollen breasts.
The cloth fell from her shoulders, and nothing could cover the upper body of the girl, who had been polished into the highest level of prostitute, let alone the deep valley.
Stunningly white skin burned into deep red eyes, and Bell's gaze was fixed on it.
With her back to the moonlight, Haruhime's body was reduced to a mere outline, covering the boy's form.
With a flushed face, Chun Ji, who dared not look directly at him, ran her silky smooth hands over Bell's skin and undid his clothes.
"Please... have mercy on my daughter."
The thick fox tail was posed.
Faced with the rabbit, whose eyes were trembling and who was unable to move, the fox narrowed its distressed eyes and slowly fell forward.
Her full breasts swayed, and one side of her hair cascaded down onto the boy's cheek, as if caressing him with fingers.
Soon the woman's lips landed on the man's face, and their figures overlapped—
"—I had this dream…!"
It was midday.
With her face flushed and an expression as if she were a sinner who had committed an irreparable crime, Haruhime confessed to the 'dream' she had last night.
This is an open-air café on Orari Street.
Across from them was a bustling crowd of demi-humans. In this lively and noisy place, however, there was no sign of the boy.
Aisha, the female warrior, listened to Haruhime's story with her face propped up on her hand, looking completely stunned as she sat blushing at the clean white table.
"You dreamt you were the man you're infatuated with, and you attacked him? Are you stupid?"
"Awoooooo...!"
Aisha, who came to check on Haruhime's situation after joining the Hestia Familia, had just visited the Hearth Hall less than an hour ago.
Seeing the fox-girl with a solemn expression and no words, Aisha immediately put on an expression of dislike, but still brought her out to change her mood. As expected, she had no choice but to listen to this troublesome matter that she genuinely thought was troublesome no matter what.
The confession, delivered like a repentance to God, was a grand, delusional dream from a boy's perspective: Haruhime being attacked at night by the girl herself. Her fox ears and tail swayed incessantly, her entire body trembling with shame—her state transcended mere misery, reaching the level of profound sorrow.
Aisha was utterly dumbfounded by the fox bride's unrestrained, unconscious, and naturally lewd behavior at night.
"That secretly lecherous fox"
"Awoooo ...
Upon hearing Aisha's merciless pronouncement, Haruhime finally let out a mournful cry and collapsed to the ground.
I pressed down on its head, which resembled a ripe apple—no, its ears, which were like a fox's—and made it lie flat on the table. Its elegant neck was now exhaling hot air.
Faced with the girl who, despite what seemed to be an unavoidable situation, was actually sobbing and exposing her own ugly side without any room for discretion, Aisha sighed softly.
"Since you're so eager in your dreams, why not just take action? We're all living under the same roof, there are plenty of opportunities to come."
"Hunger, thirst and all that...! I just feel a warm glow in my chest whenever I see Lord Bell...! And then, sometimes I think back to that day when Lord Bell held me so tightly...!"
"This is thirst. Hurry up and fulfill your dream."
"Round, round, round, dream come true...!?"
Upon receiving an Amazon-style straight shot, Haruhime felt dizzy.
Even if she joined the same faction, there probably wouldn't be any progress, Aisha sighed again.
Haruhime has just switched her allegiance to the Hestia Familia.
Although the Ares Familia, leading the Kingdom of Lachia, is attacking outside the city, Orario, protected by its sturdy city walls and overly powerful adventurers, is enjoying a peaceful day as usual. The blue sky silently watches over the girl before him, whose mind is racing. This is what peace truly is.
Aisha thought it would be nice if Haruhime and Bell were a couple.
It's obvious that this fox-girl is infatuated with a boy who displays a 'masculine' expression, and Aisha also believes that sleeping with a man she likes is one of a woman's instincts.
Furthermore, if Haruhime and that boy were a good match, it would be convenient for me to "have a snack." From the perspective of a predator who has taken down its prey.
Although the fox-girl chirped in protest, there's bound to be a way if everyone gets involved. Charging a small fee for achieving a perfect union would be reasonable. Besides, a female monopolizing a powerful male is practically an insult to the species.
Although she denied it verbally, Aisha, who was born to be the boss, and despite having such ulterior motives, still planned to give Chun-hime a push, just like the fairies of the bountiful tavern who were supporting their colleagues.
(However, the funny thing is that there are indeed several rivals who could be called "love rivals")
Bell Craney is surrounded by many attractive women.
The main god, the loli goddess, goes without saying. Then there's the volunteer who's always hanging around, the guild counter lady who takes care of him, and the tavern power supplier who supposedly delivers his lunch every day. And the healer from the former Apollo faction who joined the [Mihe Familia] is also suspicious. It's said that even that [Sword Princess] was seen acting with Bell. As far as Aisha knows, they're all beautiful and magnanimous individuals.
Even without mentioning such a friendship, the prestigious Lv.3 title alone is enough to attract many people regardless of gender.
