Seeing that Inhanes was completely enraged, the surrounding soldiers dared not hesitate any longer and immediately stepped forward to support the swaying Jeremy and drag him away from the city wall.

Although Jeremy was still struggling and shouting, he disappeared from everyone's sight.

The opportunity was fleeting, and even though Hanes was furious, she knew this was not the time to assign blame.

He took a deep breath, turned around and gave the order to his generals: "All units, take stock of your troops and prepare to fight the rebels!"

The generals, having received their orders, went about their business, and the crowded city walls quickly became empty again, leaving only Inhanes gazing at the Iceblade Knights' camp in the distance.

"...Is it really just a coincidence?"

-----------------

After receiving intelligence from Jessica, the combined forces of the Iceblade Knights and the Holy Knights even began their deployments earlier than the Imperial Army.

The paladin mages erected a thick earthen wall around the camp to defend against the first wave of attack, while the rest of the soldiers were also in formation, ready to join the battle at any time.

Inside the tent, however, Sigurd seemed somewhat uneasy.

"Are you nervous?" Adel asked softly.

“It would be a lie to say there isn’t one.” Sigurd stared at the spinning top in his hand and sighed. “If the vehicle it summons can’t withstand the flood as Vena said, this battle will probably end in a crushing defeat.”

"Are you doubting Wiener?"

“I’m just worried that I won’t be able to handle this equipment well,” Sigurd admitted.

He had personally witnessed the astonishing power of the weapons forged by Viner, but he also understood that no matter how powerful a weapon is, it ultimately depends on the user's ability.

Sigurd did not doubt that this uniquely designed weapon had the potential to defeat demons, but with his current strength of only reaching the sixth rank, he was still too far from achieving that.

He had already experienced the consequences of pursuing power too much once.

“Vina doesn’t forge equipment for others easily. Since she’s entrusted it to you, it means she trusts you to make good use of it,” Edel encouraged.

“I understand,” Sigurd nodded, his eyes gradually regaining their clarity. “I will certainly pave the way to victory for Your Majesty.”

"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!" The moment the mage team withdrew their magic, the floodwaters, which had been accumulating to their peak, poured out like wild horses.

The force of gravity made the torrent even more ferocious, and the towering waves, carrying destructive power, rushed straight towards the Allied positions, threatening to devour everything.

"Come forth, messenger of the waves!"

Sigurd's voice was completely drowned out by the crashing waves, but the spinning top he threw drew a giant magic circle on the vast water surface.

A deep blue light illuminated the entire world as a dark blue mech, tens of meters tall, slowly rose from the water.

The metal shell shimmered with light, seemingly blending into the water while simultaneously towering above it.

Everyone stared in disbelief at the sudden appearance of this enormous creature, too shocked to speak.

After Sigurd was sucked into the red crystal in the mech's chest, an unprecedented feeling surged through him, and all the water seemed to become an extension of him.

He finally understood why Vena had said that this equipment had the ability to fight demons.

"Certainly."

Sigurd uttered a single word, and the raging torrent miraculously stopped.

This effect can only be achieved in environments with abundant water resources.

However, under such terrifying power, this limitation is utterly insignificant.

"Waterspout!"

With a low shout, Sigurd manipulated the Wave Messenger to swing its arms, and the calm water surface suddenly twisted, with two huge water columns being twisted into the shape of tornadoes and whipped towards the city wall.

"Snapped!"

The azure water column was blocked by an invisible barrier, stirring up a spray of water and a deafening roar.

"What it is?!"

The soldiers on the city wall, trembling, voiced the sentiments of those around them.

Even though the defensive barrier was still holding up, it couldn't alleviate the fear in their hearts.

"It was premeditated after all!" Inhanes finally understood everything.

The massive, dark blue machine before them was a force that the rebels could not possibly possess.

The oppressive feeling it brings is so strong that some people might believe it's a demon god incarnate.

"Pass on my order: immediately shut off the sluice gates! Have the spellcasters restrain that monster and prevent it from threatening the city walls any further!"

As Hanes issued a series of orders, hundreds of mages quickly gathered on the city wall, gathering magical energy to prepare for casting spells.

Under the onslaught of the wave messengers, the air was filled with a strong aura of water.

Unaware of the gravity of the situation, the mage group naturally opted for water magic.

But when they conjured water cannons and shot them at the Wave Messenger, the opponent simply glanced at them and seized the spells they had painstakingly cast, turning them into his own.

"How could this be?" an elderly monk exclaimed in surprise.

The group of nearly a hundred mages was no match for the opponent in terms of control over the water element.

Seeing their plan thwarted, the mage group immediately changed tactics, attempting to attack the enemy's foothold in order to interrupt their offensive.

"Earth spikes burst forth in chaos!"

Accompanied by a deep chant, the earth trembled violently, and countless sharp spikes burst forth from the ground, rushing straight towards the wave messenger.

However, this giant mech is incredibly agile.

With a leap, it easily flipped over the spikes, its movements uninterrupted, as if it were completely unaffected.

Then, it landed steadily and approached the city wall step by step.

“We must stop it.” Inhanes’s face was ashen; he knew that if the monster could not be stopped, the entire pass would be in danger.

"Cover me!" he shouted, and leaped off the city wall.

As she fell, Hanes's body began to rapidly grow to enormous size, quickly expanding to a height of twenty meters.

Immediately afterwards, a beam of light shot out from the city wall, making his already enormous body appear even larger.

"Don't even think about taking another step forward!"

Because Hanes's voice was like a thunderclap.

He raised the giant axe, a spiritual entity formed from the mage ranks, and stood in front of the Wave Messenger.

Chapter 639 Preserving a Useful Body

"Is this Inhanes?"

As Adele gazed at the colossal figure in the distance that rivaled the Wave Messenger, she couldn't help but sigh softly.

“That’s right, this is the Giant’s Chapter held by Hanes.” Feld explained in a deep voice, “With the blessing of the mage corps, one person can be worth a thousand troops.”

Edel gazed at the giant with a complex expression, a hint of admiration flashing in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a resolute look.

“Such a valiant general, yet he stands on Uncle’s side…” She sighed softly, then suppressed her admiration for his talent, her tone becoming firm, “It’s our turn to cover Sigurd.”

Feld nodded, then raised his spear high and commanded in a majestic voice, "Iceblade Knights, charge!"

“We can’t fall behind either,” Aloy drew his spear. “Knights of St. Freya, charge!”

Two elite knightly orders, renowned throughout the continent, suddenly charged out, like an iron torrent rushing towards the city walls.

Their objective was clear: to quickly capture the city walls while Sigurd was holding off the enemy's commander, Inhanes.

On the other side, however, Sigurd, piloting the Wave Messenger, had already fallen into a disadvantageous position.

When there is no significant difference in physique or speed, mastery of martial arts techniques becomes the biggest factor influencing the outcome of the battle.

Sigurd's marksmanship was already among the best of his peers, but he was incredibly inexperienced when facing the well-established Inhanes.

If it weren't for the powerful performance of the Wave Messenger, he probably would have been defeated long ago.

"call--"

Sigurd's forehead was covered in sweat. He knew that if things continued like this, he would surely be defeated. Then, with a thought, he instantly transformed the spear he was holding, which was made of water element, into a longsword.

Although he was not proficient in swordsmanship, it was his only chance.

"You think you can deal with me by switching to a sword?" Inhanes said disdainfully, but there was no trace of contempt in her eyes.

At this moment, the city's garrison was already locked in battle with the rebels.

Without the support of mages, the Imperial garrison crumbled at the first touch against the Holy Knights and the Iceblade Knights.

Hanes knew she had to eliminate her opponent as soon as possible, or the entire defensive line would collapse.

"drink!"

He took the initiative and his massive battle axe cleaved towards the Wave Messenger with the force of thunder.

However, something unexpected happened. After transforming into a longsword, Sigurd changed his previous wide-ranging style and deflected his attack with an extremely tricky move.

"what!"

Hannes immediately became wary.

To neutralize his offensive, one would need at least a Sword Saint level opponent. If the opponent is indeed a Sword Saint, wouldn't the previous entanglement have been a show of weakness?

But the next few sword strikes revealed Sigurd's true skill level.

Inhanes felt a surge of anger upon realizing that her opponent had only temporarily imitated some advanced techniques and that their actual skill level was not as good as their previous spear skills.

Just as he seized the opportunity to knock the Wave Messenger to the ground with a punch and was about to execute him, a flying feather suddenly struck, aiming straight for his eyeball.

"Snapped!"

Hanes quickly changed tactics, using her battle axe to block the arrow.

He looked down and saw that the three riders had broken away from the main force of the rebels and were heading straight for him.

"Apply all buff spells to me!"

Knowing that the real battle was about to begin, Inhanes turned to give orders to the mage group on the city wall.

However, instead of reinforcements from the mage corps, he was met with screams of agony.

A slender figure, wielding a cold longsword, was swiftly moving along the city wall.

Wherever they went, it was as if there was no one there; the hundred-man mage group was wiped out in the blink of an eye.

"Surrender, Inhanes, you have already lost!" Feld's voice echoed from afar.

"Ha, do you think that's possible?" Inhanes looked down at the three of them.

Without the blessing of the mage corps, his figure had shrunk considerably compared to before, but his majesty remained undiminished.

“If you still have loyalty to the Empire, it’s not too late to abandon the darkness and embrace the light,” Edel pleaded in the end.

“Your Highness, thank you for your leniency.” Inhanes bowed slightly, her voice unwavering. “Unfortunately, my loyalty to the Empire is based solely on my loyalty to Lord Lucien.”

As one of the few in the garrison who knew the inside story, his stance was unchangeable.

"If you want to pass through the Gosa Gorge, step over me."

-----------------

"Lord Jeremy, Lord Jeremy!"

Viner, still disguised as the messenger, banged hard on the door of the solitary confinement cell.

"It's you?" Jeremy recognized the voice and immediately shouted, "Let me out!"

"Please wait a moment, my lord." Vena reached for the lock, and Escudo immediately transformed into a key, easily opening the iron door of the solitary confinement cell.

With a click, the heavy iron door was pushed open.

Jeremy rushed out impatiently, asking about the situation outside: "How's it going? Have the rebels been defeated?"

Venere paused deliberately, her face contorted with grief, and said in a low voice, "Dead, all dead... Lady Hanes has already sacrificed herself, and the rebels have breached the city. If we don't escape now, I'm afraid you, my lord, will also..."

"How could this happen!" Jeremy's body stiffened, and he slumped against the wall.

Before the lockdown, the situation was so good. How could it have turned out like this in just a few hours?
