"Hey, Kal'tsit, what's wrong?"
Kal'tsit opened her eyes a crack, looked at Ernst, and, clinging to her last glimmer of hope, asked in a barely audible voice:
"Mr. Ernst, tell me the truth, how was this trip?"
How was it? What was it like?
Ernst frowned. He knew it; Kal'tsit did indeed know some inside information about the [Law] and the secret contents of the recording!
"It was a close call, I suppose," he replied. "If Dr. Kal'tsit intends to send me next time, she could just tell me directly. Using such complicated hints, you're on the fifth level, but if I were on the first level, I wouldn't be able to figure you out."
"Then I'll have to come back and ask you this riddle again, wouldn't that be a waste of time?"
Kal'tsit's lips were visibly trembling, but Ernst listened intently for a long time without hearing a sound from her. Finally, a relieved smile appeared on her face as the corners of her mouth turned up.
Noticing the commotion at the door, Hinterlea rushed over, accidentally stepping on Kal'tsit's clothes. Kal'tsit, who was trying to get up, fell back to the ground with a thud. This time, her body went limp, her head lolled to the side, her eyes rolled back, and she was silent.
"Doctor!" Ernst exclaimed.
"Dr. Kal'tsit!" Hinterlea called out anxiously!
Ernst patted her strong, white horse leg and glared at her: "I told you to call a doctor!"
Chapter 340 Admission to Hospital, Increased Dosage!
"This land is so hateful that it cannot even give people a moment's rest."
Kal'tsit slept very restlessly; it was the most thrilling hibernation she had ever experienced.
In her dream, she saw the land of Terra crawling with bizarre and terrifying fish. Their numbers were countless, and the resulting transformation was enough to overwhelm any army. Any weapon, fortress, or natural barrier was worthless and utterly useless before them. The sea creatures that controlled them were no longer low-level ecological modification machines that acted on instinct, but rather sublimated alien beings [gods].
Kal'tsit exhausted all means to try and build humanity's last ark, to preserve the spark of humankind, but before she could complete it, the army of the Feral Dinosaurs was already at the city's gates. In despair, she peeked out from the wall and saw that the Sea King standing at the pinnacle of the species wave had a familiar face on its face!
"Ernst!"
Kal'tsit screamed. But then the twisted, tentacle-like monster with the face of a snow leopard burst into laughter:
"Didn't expect that, did you, Kal'tsit! I've gathered all four Heirs of the Sea [Gods], you've lost!"
"Attack!"
Kal'tsit felt a chill in her heart. Just as she was about to order a desperate defense of the city, she felt a chill in her chest and her vision went black. She saw hot blood gushing from her chest, followed by a tentacle as thick as a wrist.
Before she could speak, she lost consciousness.
When she opened her eyes again, the monstrous army of Terrorfish Sea Spawns that had surged like a raging sea had vanished without a trace. The city beneath her feet had also disappeared; she stood on a snowfield, raising her head to see the magnificent structure reflected in her pupils.
It was a circle, a door, a Pandora's box from which we knew neither hope nor despair lay.
Kal'tsit explored the vast, boundless ice field in the far north of Terra several times, attempting to traverse it and reach deeper into a place rife with pollution yet teeming with life.
The door was a place she had never been able to reach in several lifetimes, but now, that door, filled with an indelible, deep darkness, was less than a few hundred meters in front of her, with specks of starlight shining out from it, as if guiding her in the right direction.
Kal'tsit could not hide her excitement. She staggered forward, chasing after the flowers, as if cheering for her courage and fearlessness. On both sides of the road she stumbled along, more and more pale purple flowers opened their petals, revealing their stamens, blooming and celebrating, adding a unique brilliance to the final stretch of the road.
However, Kal'tsit stopped in her tracks, even though the distance of several hundred meters should have passed in the blink of an eye.
She turned around and looked back at the path she had come from. The path through the boundless sea of flowers was a beautiful sight, but it was only a short distance from Kal'tsit.
She then realized that her running just now was just an illusion; she was so close to the Star Gate, yet worlds apart!
Someone is preventing me from getting close to that door.
"Kal'tsit, stop and admire the flowers at your feet, how about it?"
"They grow from nowhere, yet bloom from nowhere. Kal'tsit, are they, as your accompaniments on this final path, enough to satisfy you?"
Kal'tsit looked up, and there was that familiar voice again, drawing her gaze to the previously empty space ahead.
Before she knew it, a lithe figure in a suit had appeared just a step away from her. Ernst, with his back to her, uttered a question that sounded like he was talking to himself:
“Kal’tsit, collecting these flowers took me a lot of effort, but it doesn’t matter. If you don’t like them, I can show you more of my collection.”
"Ernst, who...who are you?"
Kal'tsit's voice trembled slightly as she noticed the unusual nature of the person in front of her. His left and right hands were misaligned, his Adam's apple was facing her, but his head was turned away from her. His voice was strange, as if it contained a few electrical sounds, transmitted through some kind of interference rather than a face-to-face conversation with someone so close to her.
Kal'tsit took a small step back, trying to summon Mon3tr, but the Originium behemoth, who was clearly part of her, remained unresponsive. Only the [anomaly] before her finally turned around and raised its head.
Beneath his short, gray hair was no longer a handsome face, but a void as dark as darkness. A circular symbol of collapse occupied the center of his "face," facing Kal'tsit, seemingly scrutinizing her, yet she could not feel his gaze.
Kal'tsit practically took off running, but the moment she took a step, she found herself standing right in front of the [abnormal] being, almost pressed against him, listening to his mechanical voice emanating from that nonexistent mouth:
"I am the Gardener, Kal'tsit. Didn't you call me by my name before?"
A void enveloped Kal'tsit's head, and her legs suddenly straightened, the outline of her muscles flashing, as if she had used all her strength. But it was still a drop in the ocean; the struggle lasted only a few seconds before her legs fell limply to her sides.
However, death did not arrive as expected. The next instant, Kal'tsit sat bolt upright in bed, surrounded by a familiar yet unfamiliar laboratory. Still shaken, she surveyed her surroundings, her gaze unable to leave the figure before the lab table.
The figure in the white lab coat was still so familiar. Kal'tsit, drawing courage from somewhere, jumped out of bed, pushed open the cubicle door, ran to the lab table, and grabbed Ernst's hand:
"You're Ernst?!"
"Otherwise, who else could I be?" Ernst paused, rolled his eyes, shook off Kal'tsit's hand, and casually ordered, "Now that you're awake, come and lend a hand."
"This is my latest achievement. Haha, this coffin will be opened by me today! Kal'tsit, let's see together what the mysterious races of the pre-Terra civilization really look like?"
Ernst let out a maniacal laugh, a blissful smile spreading across his face, his overwhelming sense of accomplishment even influencing Kal'tsit standing nearby. He cheered loudly:
"Come on, let's work together to fill in the last piece of this biology atlas!"
"Click—thud—"
With the roar of the machine, the tightly sealed "coffin lid" of the black "sarcophagus" was finally forcibly separated. Ernst couldn't wait to step forward, and Kal'tsit hesitated for a moment before following him.
She followed the snow leopard and peered into the coffin. There lay not one, but two figures.
One has white hair, the other has brown hair; the two are nestled together, like a couple.
Kal'tsit's breath caught in her throat. She stumbled backward, nearly falling to the ground, her eyes wide with disbelief: "This...this is...!"
"What's this?" Ernst turned around, a mocking smile on his face. "Kal'tsit, what are you panicking about? Aren't these the creators you betrayed?"
"Look, though they're lifelike, they're already two inanimate objects. Nothing can hold you back now, Kal'tsit, ama-10. You're free, isn't that good?"
"I...no, that's not right!" Kal'tsit covered her head, shaking her head with a distorted expression. "The Doctor is still alive. I personally sent him back to the treatment facility!"
“Yes, you did it yourself.” Ernst paused, his tone chilling. “Killed him.”
Ignoring Kal'tsit's reaction, he continued speaking to himself:
"However, there is one thing I don't understand."
"Prismus, what are you doing here?"
Ernst Road,
"If Prismus were here, how did the Originium become what it is now?"
"And how did you appear?"
Kal'tsit was speechless: "I..."
Ernst continued, "Priss is dead, your creator is dead, the catalyst for the first Originium is gone. So why do you exist? They died in the sarcophagus, you killed them, but if they were dead, you couldn't exist. And now you are here, so who exactly did you kill?"
"I...I killed...myself?"
Ernst snapped his fingers: "bingo!"
He looked into the stone coffin again and nodded seriously: "This time it's right."
"Kal'tsit, come and see. Look at you."
Kal'tsit stood up and looked into the sarcophagus.
It was a skeleton, a skeleton of an indistinguishable species. It was her skeleton.
In an instant, her thoughts were completely cut off. Kal'tsit opened her eyes abruptly, panting heavily. She looked around, searching for that figure impatiently.
She found her. Ernst was sitting behind his desk, looking at Kal'tsit, who had just sat up from her deathbed, with some surprise, and greeted her:
"Kal'tsit, how are you feeling? You suddenly fainted. I asked Joyce to check on you. She said it wasn't an acute attack of Oripathy, it's probably just overwork. She told you to rest more..."
What are you going to collect this time?
Kal'tsit asked abruptly.
Ernst was taken aback: "What?"
Kal'tsit: "What? What?"
Ernst: "What what what?"
Kal'tsit nodded knowingly.
She understood; what Ernst wanted to collect this time was concepts, rules, that is, behemoths.
His goal is the god of ancient Terra who controls "why".
She gave a cold laugh, and the thought of being driven crazy by something made her shudder. She simply said directly:
"Hey, are you going to follow procedure, or just kill me?"
Ernst fell silent.
He hesitated for a moment, then picked up the phone on the table and dialed the front desk. When Hintraya answered, he instructed her:
"Hinterlea, could you please contact Miss Amiya?"
"Yes, it's that one from Rhodes Island. Please tell her that Dr. Kal'tsit may be getting old and experiencing some mental issues. There are no doctors specializing in this in Seraphim, so please ask her to bring a professional to take a look. After all, this happened on my turf, and Seraphim will take responsibility for... part of it."
"You asked which kind of professional to hire? Tsk, that's up to Miss Amiya's judgment, not our advice. Okay, hurry back—beep beep."
The phone was hung up, and Kal'tsit, disheveled, flushed, and panting, stood in front of Ernst's desk, shaking her head at him.
“Mr. Ernst, I am perfectly sober.”
Ernst stared at her with some suspicion: "Really?"
Kal'tsit nodded: "Really!"
She earnestly suggested:
"Even if I'm going to die, let's choose a different way to die."
"Social death is too torturous."
Ernst covered his face and chuckled.
Well, that's bullshit.
Admitted to the hospital! Increase the dosage of medication!
This morning I went out to buy breakfast on my electric scooter, but it was raining and the road was slippery, so I fell. Luckily, I wasn't going fast, and I reacted quickly enough to brace myself with my hand when I fell, so I wasn't hurt.
I twisted my wrist and scraped my palm a little. We call it a "zhu" here. I had an X-ray this afternoon, and the bones are fine; it wasn't like last time when the skin cracked and the bone broke. It's probably because I wasn't at school.
I'll have to take the day off today. I sprayed some medicine for sprains and bruises and applied a plaster; I'm feeling better. I should be able to move around tomorrow.
Goodnight, dear readers.
Chapter 341 Kal'tsit, you don't want the recording to be leaked either, do you?
Shelag, Tukarim, Shelag Government Office Building.
“Ernst, listen to me, I really didn’t say those things, you must have misheard me.”
Kal'tsit's face was taut, her voice filled with unwavering resolve, as if her words were the absolute truth, leaving no room for change.
Unfortunately, Kal'tsit's words ultimately lacked the power of the annals of history. Ernst glanced at Typhon to his left, then at Amiya, who had just received the news and rushed over from Rhodes Island, and a white-haired, red-eyed female doctor with sickly pale skin, waiting for their diagnosis.
After listening to Ernst's description of the symptoms, Typhon glanced at Kal'tsit, hesitated, and pouted. She frowned, and with a hint of nonchalance, remarked:
"Why do you experience more demonic infection incidents in Shelag than I have in Sami?"
"These aren't typical infection symptoms. Has our understanding been distorted?"
Typhon, she nodded knowingly:
