Emilia is a very popular Tara name.
These words are enough to demonstrate the "Little Duke's" determination, but her abilities are clearly not as reliable as her determination.
Ernst had just arrived near the outskirts of Lentinium when he was met by Rhodes Island operators who came to pick him up.
The speed was so fast that even Ernst himself was a little surprised.
"Lord Logos, how did you know I would come?"
Looking at the current Banshee Queen dressed in royal court attire, as if she had blended into the night, Ernst asked with some curiosity.
Logos glanced at Ernst's convoy, and at the massive Wendigo sitting in the back of the "troop carrier," who had gotten out to investigate upon hearing the commotion. He raised an eyebrow slightly and replied:
"The Rhode Island office sent us a letter."
"Your office does indeed involve some surveillance and intelligence gathering."
Ernst bluntly retorted.
Although Ernst had guessed from the day Rhodes Island set up its office in Seraphim that these Rhodes Island offices all over Terra were definitely not just simple "pharmacies that can be found everywhere", being secretly monitored once was certainly not a pleasant experience for him.
"Dr. Kal'tsit is just worried about you."
Upon hearing this, logos immediately offered an explanation.
“Lentinium is in danger now, and she doesn’t want you involved.”
"But she couldn't stop me."
Ernst replied,
“If she could handle Victoria’s situation, I wouldn’t have come.”
Ernst still remembered what Kelsey had said when he left Shelag for Lontinim.
She was quite confident, saying that Rhodes Island could solve the problem of Lontinim, and that Rhodes Island wouldn't even need to exert its full strength; it would only need to send out the old retainers from the Tower of Babel!
As time passed, Ernst traveled from Letania to Iberia and back again, and the only noteworthy message he received from Rhodes Island was that "Dr. Kal'tsit has given military advice."
Although he knew that war was not a simple matter, and that there were many things to consider, including frontline operations, logistics, and planning, Ernst still found it hard to remain calm when he heard the news!
Logos clearly hadn't expected Ernst to be so blunt; his gaze darkened, and his voice turned colder.
“Dr. Kal'tsit has done a lot of things, and you shouldn’t belittle her efforts like that.”
“I don’t mean to disparage her, Mr. Logos. But we’re all adults now. Do you still think that this world, like an exam, is graded based on the process?”
Ernst countered,
"I came because she tried her best but didn't do a good job, and time was so tight."
He didn't have any ill feelings towards Kal'tsit. Everyone's abilities have their limits, and Ernst wouldn't dare to say anything like "where there is kindness, everything will be alright," especially when it came to something like war, which he had no experience with.
But logos is a bit too naive.
During his time preparing in Shelag, Ernst frequently visited the Sarkaz Residents' Committee to learn about things related to Sarkaz, and often listened to Ramalyn talk about her eldest son.
Ernst had naturally heard of his grand ambitions—to toll the death knell for all royal courts, what a magnificent dream!
But Ernst had often heard this saying long ago, even before he embarked on his political career: It is easy to destroy an old order, but difficult to create a new one!
To destroy an old world, all you need is destruction. Logos wants to sound the death knell for the royal court. He doesn't need much: overwhelming the military might of all the royal court rulers.
But after breaking down the old world, how do we build a new one? Has Logos figured that out yet?
Ernst asked Ramalyn, who smiled and gave him an ambiguous answer: "Aifanil is still too young; he can't do it now."
Ernst didn't immediately understand whether Lamarle meant: Aifanil was too young to defeat all the royal court lords and destroy the royal order, or whether Aifanil was too young to have the awareness and experience to establish a new system.
But now it seems that the mother may have said both.
The idea that "as long as you've tried your best, no one will blame you" is good, but inappropriate.
This kind of thinking is not suitable for a "revolutionary".
Even if one's own abilities are insufficient, one should at least say, "The revolution has not yet succeeded, comrades still need to work hard!"
"If Kal'tsit is here to stop me from going to the battlefield, then we have nothing to talk about."
Ernst shook his head, took a step back, and shielded Bozokasti in front of him.
He wasn't Logos' teacher. Out of friendship with Ramallian, he could offer Logos a few pointers, but this was clearly not the right occasion for teaching and mentoring.
Every minute and every second is precious to Ernst!
Wendigo remained silent, his red eyes coldly fixed on the banshee before him. The exhaust fans behind him spun violently, their ribbons billowing up like wings of light, as if he were ready for battle!
Logos remained silent for a long time before finally putting down the bone pen in his hand.
His orders were to persuade Ernst not to go to Lentinium, as something might happen there and his life might be in danger!
"As much as possible" obviously does not include directly engaging in war with Ernst.
Dr. Kal'tsit seemed to have sensed what was happening in Londinium; she seemed to be afraid of something, but Logos was unclear. As always, Kal'tsit didn't explain herself clearly.
Although Ernst could guess that her decision to launch a full-scale attack was probably due to her awareness of the threat posed by the Shard and the presence of Precyth, Logos clearly did not know this.
Since Ernst insisted on entering, Logos had no reason to block him. Although Ernst had never been on the battlefield, to be honest, the previous battlefield commander who was appointed to a critical mission performed quite well, didn't he?
Dr. Kal'tsit, perhaps you're overthinking it. Ernst is neither Princess Theresa nor the Doctor, much less could he be both. The Tower of Babel incident—search: QQ group: 94, Mishan Sanling—will not happen a second time!
He placed the bone pen into the pen case at his waist, nodded to Ernst, and said softly:
"follow me."
Chapter 820 Ernst's Move: Three Questions for Kelsey
Victoria, Londinium, Rhodes Island Main Ship.
Rhodes Island's main ship's defenses seem to be quite effective. Following Logos, Ernst saw many old friends he had met once before, as well as many elite operators he had never seen before.
Among them were not only Sarkaz, but also many people of other races. It seems that Kal'tsit's idea of "resolving the Lentinium incident solely through the old guard of Babel" has not been realized. Rhodes Island's main forces have all become involved in the conflict to varying degrees.
However, they are currently only in a "defense-assisting" state and have not launched a direct attack on Lentinium.
This further solidified Ernst's belief: Rhodes Island was definitely not a legitimate medical company. Even those elite operators who had just passed by had put Bozokasti on his guard. Was this actually a mercenary organization?
Is it because they couldn't compete with Black Steel for business, so they transformed into a medical company?
No, that's not quite right either. After all, Rhodes Island's predecessor was, in some ways, far more powerful than mercenary organizations.
Kazdel's government-in-exile, isn't that awesome?
Therefore, it was Kal'tsit's decisive action, even including a major purge to eliminate the Demon Lord restoration faction within Rhodes Island, that prevented Ernst from having to consider adding another Tower of Babel when drafting "Solutions to the Many Historical Problems of the Sarkaz."
In retrospect, it could be said that Kal'tsit inadvertently helped lighten her burden.
With mixed feelings, Ernst walked into the medical department office and saw that figure.
When I saw Kal'tsit again, she looked much more haggard, but she wasn't.
Although the old lynx was very old, she was still quite healthy. In preparation for her meeting with Ernst, she had obviously taken a nap beforehand, and her complexion looked rosy and she seemed to be in good spirits.
Before Kal'tsit could greet him as usual after their long separation, she saw Bozokasti, Yelena, and Vina following behind Ernst, bending down and squeezing into the room.
Kal'tsit's expression changed slightly, and she opened her mouth, looking somewhat embarrassed.
"what"
"Lord, it's been a long time."
Bozokasti spoke first.
After gradually mastering the rhythm of phrasing, communication with Bozokasti will only be slightly slower, unless long sentences are spoken.
"The last time... was in Kazdel. You and His Highness saw us off...."
His voice was calm, as if he were recalling a past event. Kal'tsit, however, detected a hint of melancholy in his voice.
Last time, she and Theresa saw the Wendigo people off. Decades had passed since then. Now, when they met again, she was still there, the Wendigo were still there, but Theresa was no longer there.
“My teacher once said that you stood on the opposite side of the Sarkaz.”
"I do not believe."
Upon meeting an old friend, Bozokast became more talkative, his red-rimmed eyes fixed intently on Kal'tsit, as if asking a question, or perhaps responding in kind.
"am I wrong?"
Kelsey swallowed hard and glanced at Ernst without making a sound.
This is a show of force, Ernst.
The fact that Ernst was able to get all the way to the medical department on Roland Island means that her plan to have Logos stop her had failed. Now that they've met, Ernst didn't say anything, but instead had Bozocas try to build rapport, simply to tell her that they were friends and not to put him in a difficult position.
But Kal'tsit also had something to say.
She genuinely didn't have any ill intentions this time. She truly felt that the situation in Lentinium was complex and complicated, so she wanted to advise Ernst to leave and not get involved in this mess.
Ernst is one of the few politicians on this land whom she thinks are "promising." Kal'tsit is counting on him to develop the World Summit to its fullest potential and then lead the Terran civilization to a new life.
Although she didn't know where the path to survival lay, she could suggest a few possible locations, such as the endless ice plains of the far north, or the sarcophagus beneath the core city of Chernobog.
She didn't want Ernst to perish here, because if the situation in Lentinium was really as she thought, then Ernst staying here wouldn't change the course of the battle, but would only increase the risk of casualties.
Ernst had no idea what Kelsey was thinking; if he had, he would probably have cried out that he was innocent.
He genuinely didn't arrange for Bozokasti to do anything. The reason Bozokasti rekindled his old relationship with Kal'tsit was purely out of his own volition.
After all, he had spent so many years on the snowfields and hadn't met many people since arriving in Sherag. They were all elders like Ramaren and Fremont. It was a rare opportunity to meet an old acquaintance. Bozokasti wasn't considered old among the Sarkaz, so what was wrong with chatting for a bit?
He's not autistic. If it weren't for his vocal cord infection, Oripathy, which makes his speech a little slurred, he could talk to Kal'tsit for three days and three nights, starting from his time fighting in Ursus, and then talking about finding Yelena and founding the old Integral!
Unfortunately, seeing Kal'tsit's serious expression, he stopped talking.
Without saying she offended anyone, Kal'tsit once again disappointed an old friend with her extraordinary wisdom.
Bodrakasthi fell silent.
Kal'tsit looked at Ernst again.
She couldn't answer Bozokasti's question; she never took "any side," and if necessary, she could stand against anyone.
That's how it was when the three-nation alliance was launched to subjugate Kazdel for "two hundred years of peace," and that's how it was when it stood by Theresa's side and worked hard so that "this land could sleep peacefully." And that's how it is now, leading Rhodes Island to be stationed outside Londinium and watching the city change.
In Ernst’s view, Kelsey really was like a cat, more like a cat than any other race on this land that was “Felin”.
She is very sensitive and suspicious, and finds it difficult to truly trust someone. This may be because of the great trauma that the Tower of Babel incident inflicted on her not-so-young mind.
She was equally strong and patient, having lived on this land as a stray cat for at least tens of thousands of years. She truly survived, and unlike many long-lived species, she did not become neurotic or lose her humanity.
She could even be a doctor, and a pretty good one at that. You know, doctors are the profession that most needs to respect life, but the immortal beings who are used to life and death have always been indifferent to life.
Ernst admired what Kal'tsit had already done. She had lived for so many years, and although it was unknown how much she had accomplished, the fact that the Terrans had survived lying on top of ultimate explosives like [Heaven's Pivot], [Deep Blue Tree], and [Originium] without bringing about their own demise showed that even if she hadn't made any great contributions, she had certainly put in a lot of hard work.
Therefore, Ernst didn't want to make things difficult for her. This time, he approached Kelsey only wanting her to do him a simple favor.
He opened his mouth and said:
"Kal'tsit, I came to Rhodes Island just to ask you for a simple favor."
Kal'tsit snapped out of her daze, her brow furrowing slightly. She instinctively walked to the table and steadied herself against it.
"what?"
"Help me send a few people in."
Kal'tsit's brow furrowed even deeper. She looked at Ernst, then at the people behind him, seemingly speculating but unsure:
"What do you want to do?"
“Victoria needs a hero, but it’s unlikely that Victoria needs a hero.”
Ernst replied,
"So I want to give them a chance to be heroes."
Victoria's current situation demands a hero, but none of the people representing Victoria can produce a true hero, nor will they allow one to emerge from their sphere of influence.
Hero, or to put it another way—a mighty man who fell from the sky!
Oddball small countries always hope for a miracle worker to appear and save them from collapse. But sometimes, aren't oddball big countries the same?
The saying "A ship needs a helmsman to navigate the ocean" is not without reason.
It was clear that after the mediocre helmsman was hanged, Victoria's first officers had completely dismantled the ship. They weren't unaware of this, but whether out of personal interests or class interests, they wouldn't voluntarily elect a new helmsman to redistribute the benefits they had already gained.
They wouldn't allow it; theoretically, during peacetime, the crew has absolutely no room for advancement! Unless they are directly overthrown!
