“This…” Johnson scratched his cheek awkwardly, hesitated for a moment, and then said seriously, “Lord Link, I don’t have five hundred draft horses, only about two hundred. However, if you still want them next year, I can get five hundred.” His tone was tinged with helplessness and sincerity, hoping to gain Link’s understanding.
Draft horses are much cheaper and are the most popular. Merchants and itinerant traders often buy several to transport goods or for travel. These merchants travel between cities, and draft horses are their most loyal companions, pulling heavy loads step by step towards distant places. This year, Johnson sold many draft horses, and he was envious of Link's large order but couldn't afford it. He would have to wait until next spring to purchase horses from other sources.
"Next year? How many can you get?" Link sat up straight and asked curiously. He leaned forward slightly, his eyes filled with anticipation. "Could you also get some warhorses?" he added, calculating in his mind how acquiring more warhorses would greatly help improve his team's strength.
"Huh?" Johnson was taken aback by Link's question. His brain raced as he considered how to answer. After a long pause, he cautiously replied, "We can get at least a thousand horses, and we should be able to get another five hundred warhorses from them." His voice trailed off, as if he wasn't entirely confident in his answer.
"..." Link looked at Johnson in surprise, secretly wondering: There must be some special way to get these horses, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get so many. In this era of relatively scarce horse resources, to be able to get so many horses at once, there must be some unknown channels and methods.
"So, would it be possible for Lord Johnson to make a trip to Winter City next spring? I think we can discuss the future purchase volume," Link said slowly, his voice gentle and steady. His eyes revealed sincerity and anticipation, a desire to establish a long-term and stable cooperative relationship with Johnson.
“Sure, no problem.” Johnson readily agreed, sensing that he wouldn’t have trouble selling his horses next year. Thinking of the endless stream of orders and the substantial profits, a smile crept onto his face.
After his initial excitement subsided, Johnson sensed something was amiss. He turned to look at the four city lords of Westwind City, only to see them staring at him with grim faces and cold smiles. Their eyes were filled with anger and resentment, as if they wanted to devour him alive.
"Uh..." Johnson suddenly remembered that the five of them had been discussing how to seize the secret of growing vegetables in winter just last night. It was a secret plan; they intended to obtain the secret through illegitimate means to gain huge profits. He had been lured into it by Link, the deal was simply too big. Faced with such enormous profits, he had momentarily forgotten about the so-called alliance.
Under the four men's cold gazes, Johnson sheepishly sat back down in his chair. His body trembled slightly, his heart filled with guilt and unease. He had essentially withdrawn from the secret of growing vegetables in winter—no, it should be said that he had been hated by the four men. He knew that from now on, in their eyes, he had become a traitor.
"Lord Johnson, congratulations!" the City Lord of Westwind said sourly, his tone full of sarcasm and jealousy. His face was so gloomy it seemed like it could drip water, and his eyes flashed with anger.
Of course he was furious. Johnson was the one who brought up the plan yesterday, and now he'd been lured away by Link, failing before it even began. The five of them had been brimming with confidence, believing they could easily seize the secret and gain immense wealth and power. But unexpectedly, Johnson was drawn away by Link's business, instantly ruining their plans. The Lord of Westwind City was filled with resentment, wishing he could tear Johnson to pieces.
"Ha...ha..." Johnson gave an awkward laugh, a laugh that looked more like a grimace. He turned his head and stared intently at the ice rink, trying to distract himself. He couldn't possibly give up such a large deal; in the face of profit, the so-called alliance seemed so fragile.
“Lord of Westwind City, my manager at the market told me that you purchased a lot of canned goods there. My canned goods production has increased recently. Do you want to buy more?” Link spoke up at this moment, breaking the awkward atmosphere.
"Ah?" The Lord of Westwind City was taken aback for a moment, then reacted, his eyes lighting up with delight. "Of course, Lord Link! How many can I buy?" He was filled with excitement; canned food was a wonderful thing, convenient to store and delicious. In this era of relative food scarcity, canned food was a rare delicacy.
“One hundred cans in ten days!” Link said, holding up one finger, his eyes revealing confidence and composure. He knew that this quantity was already very attractive to the Lord of Westwind City.
"Really?" the Lord of West Wind City exclaimed in surprise, his eyes wide open as if he couldn't believe his ears.
“Really! This time when you go back to Westwind City, you can take an extra hundred cans with you.” Link nodded, saying confidently. His face was beaming with a smile, and his eyes were full of sincerity.
"Great! This time I don't have to be careful with my food." The Lord of Westwind City said excitedly, a bright smile spreading across his face, as if he could already see the delicious canned food beckoning to him.
"Huh? The game has started." Link nodded slightly, then focused intently on the match. His eyes were fixed on the ice rink, as if captivated by the intense competition. However, a glance out of the corner of his eye revealed that the remaining three city lords were somewhat restless. Their bodies shifted slightly, their eyes filled with anxiety and unease, seemingly worried that they too would be lured by the bait Link had thrown out.
The City Lord of Westwind finally realized he had been seduced by Link and betrayed the Five-Man Alliance. A wave of regret washed over him; he knew he had made a mistake. He glanced sheepishly at the remaining three, noticing their gloomy expressions—they were the only ones who hadn't benefited. The three city lords sat to the side, their eyes filled with anger and disappointment, as if abandoned by the world.
Link's lips curled into a smile. How could this alliance of five, temporarily united by mutual interests, possibly be reliable? He secretly gloated; with just a little bait, they had crumbled from within. In this world driven by self-interest, so-called alliances are often built solely on shared benefits. Once the distribution of profits becomes unequal or a greater temptation arises, the alliance will collapse instantly.
Link didn't really care about the remaining three city lords; what he cared about most was Johnson's horses. Those warhorses and draft horses were crucial to the development of Winterfell; with them, Winterfell's strength would be greatly enhanced.
Behind him, Luca's eyes gleamed as she stared intently at the back of Link's head. The young master had managed to shatter the seemingly united group of five with just a few words, leaving her utterly astonished. She felt a surge of admiration and worship for Link, seeing him as a mysterious magician capable of effortlessly controlling the situation.
She recalled Avery's earlier words about killing, and now, thinking back, it all seemed so foolish. In this complex world, killing isn't the best way to solve problems; sometimes, wisdom and strategy can achieve better results.
Luca glanced at Avery, then sighed at the wolf-eared girl's stunned expression. Perhaps this was the difference between having a brain and not. While Avery was brave and skilled in battle, she lacked strategic acumen. Link, on the other hand, possessed keen insight and exceptional strategic skills, capable of finding breakthroughs in complex situations.
"Luca, I have a feeling you're thinking about something bad," Avery suddenly turned her head and whispered, her eyes filled with doubt and wariness.
"Uh...no, you must be imagining things." Luca quickly shook her head in denial, a slightly embarrassed smile on her face. She didn't want Avery to know what she was thinking, lest it cause unnecessary trouble.

"Whoosh..." The fierce wind roared like an angry beast across the sky and earth. It blew relentlessly, causing the trees on both sides of the road to sway helplessly, as if struggling against the gale. The violent wind also lashed against the slightly worn oil-paper windows of the study, making a soft "rustling" sound from time to time, as if the gale was knocking on the window, trying to break into the warm room.
In the study, the candlelight flickered, casting dappled shadows on the walls. Link sat quietly at the desk, his gaze occasionally drifting to the oil-paper window that trembled in the wind, his ears filled with the whooshing sound of the wind outside. To him, the sound was like the roar of a ferocious tiger, carrying boundless majesty and power, inspiring awe in all who heard it.
It was winter, and the whole world seemed to be encased in a giant refrigerator, the chill permeating every inch of the air. In the distance, the mountains were covered in thick snow and frost, like trees draped in white cotton coats, a breathtakingly beautiful sight. Except for the rushing Sipplet River, which continued its ceaseless flow, its rushing waters seemingly defying the cold, all the other rivers and lakes were frozen solid. The calm ice surface, like a giant mirror, reflected the faint winter sunlight.
Link stared blankly at the oiled paper window, his dark eyes darting about in a daze. Henrietta and Claudia had been on their way for several days, their mission to bring back slaves. But who could have imagined that a sudden heavy snowfall would begin today? Large, fluffy snowflakes drifted down, quickly turning the entire world white. This made Link uneasy; he wondered if they would encounter any trouble on their journey in such harsh weather.
In the study, Jin Meiting, Luca, and Bai exchanged glances, each seeing a hint of worry in the other's eyes. The snow was indeed heavy today; the outside world had turned into a vast white sea of snow. The ice hockey match between teams three and four, which was originally scheduled for today, was canceled. The players had all retreated indoors, gathering around the warm fireplace to keep warm.
Bai's golden eyes gazed at Link's somewhat forlorn figure, a feeling of pity welling up within her. She gestured with her lips towards Luca, then mouthed the words, silently saying, "Go and comfort Lord Link."
Luca looked at Bai, frowned slightly, then spread his hands, shook his head, and said, "Let's give Lord Link some peace and quiet! I think Lord Link is thinking about what to do next, so let's not disturb him."
It was Jin Meiting who stepped forward. She walked lightly to Link's side and said softly, "Lord Link, according to the plan, they should have returned yesterday. Don't worry too much, they might be on their way back."
Luca nodded quickly, echoing, "Yes, Lord Link. And you've prepared compressed military rations and coal stoves for them; these things will help them withstand the cold, so they'll be fine."
Link frowned slightly, a hint of worry in his eyes, and said, "Henrietta and Curadia are quite strong, so I'm not worried about them. I'm more worried about the slaves and the soldiers who went out with them. In this weather, if they don't follow my instructions, they might get frostbite."
Yes, Link wasn't worried about whether Henrietta and Claudia would be in danger, but rather about the harm the severe weather might cause them. Frostbite was a serious matter; even in his original world, with its advanced technology, many people were forced to have limbs amputated each year due to frostbite. How much more so in this world with its relatively underdeveloped medical conditions? The consequences of frostbite would be unimaginable.
“Lord Link, you should trust them.” Luca gently placed his hands on Link’s shoulders, massaging them softly, and said in a low voice, “You know the capabilities of those soldiers, and they have been personally instructed by you. If you don’t trust them, then no one else will.”
"That's true." Link chuckled upon hearing Luca's words, his worries easing slightly. He reached out and pulled Luca into his arms, his wicked hands beginning to roam over her body, eliciting a soft, coquettish reproach from Luca.
Most of these soldiers were obtained through a system lottery, so their abilities are reliable. Furthermore, Link occasionally personally instructs them, teaching them how to prevent and withstand the cold. Therefore, their capabilities are trustworthy.
"Mmm..." Luca twisted his body, breaking free from the hands that were kneading his chest. His face flushed slightly, and he shyly kissed Link's face before gently leaning into his arms.
"Lord Link, I'm so bored! Let's play cards!" Mizuki Yukikaze exclaimed excitedly, raising her hand high. Her lively demeanor seemed to bring a touch of energy to the somewhat dull study.
"Boring?" Link raised an eyebrow, saying with a wry smile, "You're just slacking off. Hannah and the others are all busy, why don't you go help them?"
"No!" Mizuki Yukikaze scratched her cheek, a little embarrassed, and said, "They said we have enough people, so I don't need to go."
"Come on!" Luca rolled his eyes and bluntly exposed, "It was clearly you who went to cause trouble. Even Hannah advised you not to go and make things worse."
"Who, who made things worse?" Mizuki Yukikaze turned her head, her brown eyes slightly unfocused, and said indignantly, "I was just curious and tried a few things. How can you say I made things worse?"
Seeing Xuefeng's adorable yet somewhat stubborn expression, everyone burst into laughter, filling the study with cheerful sounds that seemed to dispel the winter chill.
......
As night falls, Link is going to pamper Jin Meiting a little more tonight.
in the room.
Link reached his hands under Jin Meiting's crotch, pinching and kneading her tender buttocks. Then he bent down, pretending to insert his raging dragon into Jin Meiting's wet secret garden, but Jin Meiting's tightly closed snow legs blocked the path of attack.
"Hold my neck!"
Link gave the order, and Jin Meiting shyly raised her arms, timidly hooking them around the back of Link's neck, her expression extremely charming.
Lin Ke was deeply attracted by Jin Meiting's captivating expression and couldn't bear to look away, his eyes fixed on Jin Meiting's fair face.
"Can we go in?"
Link leaned gently close to Jin Meiting's ear and asked. Jin Meiting paused shyly for a moment.
"Oh!!"
Jin Meiting's jade-like foot, which had been removed from its leather boot but was still covered by a stocking, suddenly bent and crossed with her other snowy leg around Link's back.
The arms that had been shyly wrapped around Link's neck tightened, and her fingernails dug into Link's strong back muscles.
"Honey, do you want to be picked up and fucked?"
"I asked Jin Meiting," Link whispered in her ear. Jin Meiting nodded shyly.
Then, using all her strength, she hooked her frail body around Link's thick neck with both hands. Link hooked his arms around her knees and easily lifted Jin Meiting to her feet.
"Ah good..."
Whether it was pain or satisfaction, Jin Meiting clung to Link and convulsed uncontrollably.
"it is good!"
Link could no longer suppress the exhilarating feeling of making love with his beloved Jin Meiting! He let out a frenzied roar.
"Ah...ah..."
Jin Meiting fully enjoyed my pampering, her confused moans and heavy breathing constantly whistling and calling out in Link's ears.
Jin Meiting shouted passionately in Link's ear, while simultaneously enjoying the unparalleled pleasure brought to her by Link's thick, angry dragon.
Link did this to constantly arouse Jin Meiting's desire and anxiety, and then, when Jin Meiting's desire was aroused to its highest point, he would give her complete satisfaction. This continuous excitement is said to be very helpful for conception.
In order to get Kim Mi-jung pregnant at the moment of her climax, Link intensified his stimulation of Kim Mi-jung's erogenous zones.
"Ah...ah...ah..."
Jin Meiting's body flushed a sunset-like red, her cries grew more and more intense, and taut veins bulged on Link's neck and muscles. His raging dragon swelled up like a pufferfish, all indicating that Link was about to ejaculate.
"I'm coming, darling!!"
Finally! Link gripped Jin Meiting's slender waist tightly, letting out a roar as his muscles clenched.
"Ah..." Aside from groaning and hugging Link tightly in response, Jin Meiting could not utter any other sound.
"It's now!"
After a long while, Lin Kecai and Jin Meiting finally parted ways.
......
"Whoosh..."
The fierce wind roared like an angry beast across the vast expanse of heaven and earth. Its powerful force whipped at the sails, as if an invisible hand were desperately pushing the ship forward. Like an arrow released from a bow, the ship sped through the surging waves at twice its usual speed, leaping over the crests of the waves, sending white spray swirling wildly across the sides.
"Quickly, keep a close eye on the sails!" Henrietta stood at the bow, shouting at the top of her lungs. Her voice, though weak amidst the howling wind, carried an undeniable authority. The biting wind lashed at their faces like knives, feeling as if countless tiny needles were pricking them painfully. Each breath felt like swallowing icy blades, piercing their throats and lungs.
Henrietta didn't actually want to be in such a hurry, but reality left her no room for complacency. They had brought a pitifully small amount of grain on this voyage. To complete the mission within the limited time, they had only taken two small grain ships. But fate seemed to love playing tricks on them, and the worst thing still happened. During the voyage, due to the operator's mistake, one of the grain ships crashed into a huge rock on the shore. With a deafening roar, the hull instantly shattered, and seawater surged in like a raging beast, quickly sinking the ship to the bottom of the sea.
Actually, everyone could grit their teeth and get through this series of changes. After all, in this difficult world, who hasn't encountered setbacks and difficulties? However, what truly frightened and anxious everyone was the gloomy sky that seemed to be pressing down. The heavy dark clouds, like a huge black curtain, hung heavily overhead, clearly foreshadowing a terrible blizzard. Last night, the swirling snowflakes had just stopped, and the earth was still covered with a thick layer of white snow. But this morning, the weather turned extremely dark again, and the wind was even stronger than yesterday, making it almost impossible to stand.
"Everyone, give it your all! Keep a close eye on things! Winterhold is almost here!" Henrietta shouted again. Her voice was hoarse from shouting for so long, but her eyes revealed determination and perseverance.
"Yes!" A clear and resounding response immediately rang out from all around. The sound echoed in the strong wind, like an invisible force that boosted everyone's morale.
The atmosphere on the ship was exceptionally oppressive throughout the journey; everyone remained silent. The slaves sat quietly in a corner of the cabin, their eyes filled with a mixture of anticipation and tension. They hoped that what they heard on the ship was true: if they were willing to work for a few years, they could escape slavery and become free citizens; or, through hard work, they could be rewarded with free citizenship based on their workload. To them, compared to their previous miserable state where they were constantly at risk of starvation and freezing to death, these so-called requirements for hard work or helping out for a few years were nothing short of a blessing from heaven. Their hearts were filled with longing—a longing for a new beginning, a longing to live a normal life.
As the ship finally approached the gates of Winterfell, Henrietta could see the White Auditor and a group of men waiting quietly for them. The White Auditor, dressed in a neat official robe, wore a kind and approachable smile that seemed particularly warm in the cold wind.
“Henrietta, welcome back in triumph,” Bai greeted her warmly, his voice as gentle as a spring breeze.
"Thank you!" Henrietta nodded slightly in return. Then, she called out, "Bai, I'll leave the rest of you to these people."
"No problem, the house and everything are ready." Bai readily agreed, her tone full of confidence and composure. This wasn't the first or second time she had handled such a matter, and she had extensive experience in how to manage these slaves.
“Alright, then I’ll go and report the progress to the city lord first,” Henrietta said with a light laugh, a hint of relief in her smile.
"Go!" Bai waved his hand, then shouted to the slaves, "You all come with me!"
“Let’s go!” Henrietta led the way towards Winterfell. Looking at the familiar streets of Winterfell, a strange sense of emotion welled up within her. The houses lining the streets were arranged in a pleasing, orderly fashion; though somewhat desolate in the cold winter, they were full of life and hope. A smile unconsciously appeared on her lips, as if she could see a bright future for Winterfell.

Twenty minutes later, Henrietta arrived at the castle. She straightened her clothes and then strode confidently into the castle. After being announced by a maid, she went to Link's study.
"Bang, bang, bang!" Henrietta knocked softly on the door.
"Come in!" Link's calm voice came from the study.
"Click!" Henrietta pushed open the door and went in. She saw Link hunched over his desk, writing intently. His brows were slightly furrowed, and his eyes revealed a thoughtful glint. Behind him stood Kim Mi-ting and Luca, standing there quietly like two guardian deities.
"Thank you for your hard work," Link said gently, putting down his pen. His voice was deep and magnetic, making people feel particularly at ease.
"Nothing went wrong, right?" Link asked with concern, his eyes filled with anticipation.
“A small grain barge ran aground on the rocks on the shore and sank,” Henrietta said, her eyes lowered, a hint of guilt in her voice. She was filled with self-reproach, feeling that her poor planning had led to this loss.
"Where is he? Is he alright?" Link straightened his back and asked hurriedly. A hint of worry was in his eyes; after all, every life is precious.
"Are there any casualties?" Link asked again, his voice tinged with anxiety.
“No, only a few soldiers accidentally bumped and bruised themselves.” A hint of emotion flashed in Henrietta’s eyes. She could feel Link’s care and concern for the soldiers, and this warm feeling filled her heart with strength.
"That's good. How many slaves did you bring back?" Link stared intently at Henrietta with his dark eyes. Slaves were one of the key aspects of this operation. He knew in his heart that these slaves would be an important force for the future development of Winterfell.
"We brought back 1,857 people." Henrietta's face darkened. She had heard from the soldiers that the number of slaves who had frozen to death outside was probably close to 1,000. The thought of those innocent lives being lost filled her with immense sorrow.
“Nearly two thousand?” Link nodded silently, a heavy feeling settling in his heart. In this cruel world, life was so fragile and insignificant. But he also knew he couldn't remain immersed in grief forever; he had to create a better future for these surviving slaves.
Not long after, Bai knocked on the door and came in. Her face showed a hint of fatigue, but her eyes revealed excitement and satisfaction.
"Lord Link, all the slaves who came have been settled. Many of them are grateful for your kindness," Bai reported on the mission, her voice filled with joy.
"Many of the newly arrived slaves knelt down before me when they saw the houses and wheat they were given," Bai continued, as if the scene of the slaves' tears of gratitude was replaying in her mind.
"That really startled me. I immediately scolded them, brought out Lord Link, and praised him highly, telling them to behave themselves and work hard," Bai said with a smile, her smile full of pride. She knew that all of this was thanks to Lord Link; he had given these slaves new hope and the courage to live.
"Well done!" Link put down the documents in his hand, which contained data on supplies and a general overview of the slaves. He hadn't expected that over four hundred of these slaves were orcs. In this human-dominated world, orcs often faced discrimination and oppression, their lives far more difficult than those of human slaves. A wave of sympathy and pity washed over Link, and he decided to give these orcs a fair chance, allowing them to also live a happy life in Winterfell.
"By the way, Bai, are many people going to school to learn to read these days?" Link asked Bai, as the literacy rate was something he needed to pay close attention to. He knew that knowledge was the key to changing one's destiny, and only by enabling more people to read could Winter City continue to grow and prosper.
“There are many, even during the day.” Bai hadn’t expected so many people to be willing to learn to read. She had thought that in these difficult times, people were more concerned with how to fill their stomachs and how to survive, but she hadn’t expected so many people to be so eager for knowledge.
"So, how many people do you think will be literate by the end of this winter?" Link asked, his hands clasped together. His eyes were full of anticipation; he hoped Winter City would become a city brimming with culture.
"Could we make half the people in Winter City literate?" Link asked again. He had a grand plan in mind: to make Winter City a culturally prosperous and economically developed city.
