When they saw Leo come in, they looked like they had seen an alien, and one of them even had an orange-yellow light shining in his eyes.
Scanning in person is a very unfriendly act.
Leo kept his persona in mind, glared at them with an arrogant yet slightly disgruntled look, and strode forward.
Upon entering the main area of the bar, the first thing you see is the colorful neon lights and the huge bull's head decoration hanging above the bar.
The red roses on the bull's head are clearly in the style of the Valentino gang.
My gaze shifted downwards, sweeping to the left and right—gang members, locals with a little money, small-time mercenaries, and lawbreakers who walked the line between black and gray—these people together formed the backdrop of the Wild Wolf Bar.
Without a doubt, this is a place suitable for the lower class to try their luck, but not for the upper class to linger.
However, the bar girls were quite attractive, scantily clad, and had hot figures. Yeah, most of the female customers were the same type, perfect for picking up girls… ahem.
Leo suppressed the slight agitation caused by the bar's atmosphere and walked straight to the bar counter.
Big Jack Wells is working as a bartender behind the bar.
"Hey, Mano! I've come to find you as promised!"
Leo deliberately raised his voice to show his close relationship with Jack.
Several gazes that had been fixed on him since he entered quietly withdrew.
“Hey, bro—” Jack was wiping a glass when he looked up and was clearly taken aback when he saw Leo’s outfit. “Leo, look at what you’re wearing, my God.”
He hugged Leo and whispered, "Your outfit is way too flashy, like you're afraid no one will notice you..."
Leo replied in the same volume: "It's okay, I'm just a newcomer to this middleman, so I have to be awesome."
"You are Chinese... cough cough, it's not convenient here, let's talk about something else."
Jack subtly raised his chin, reminding him to pay attention to the guests at the end of the bar and the surrounding tables.
Leo nodded, pulled over a bar stool, and sat in the seat furthest away from everyone else.
Nobody: Chapter Twenty Leo: "Holy crap—isn't this V?!"
"Jack, my good buddy, tell me quickly, have you found a suitable candidate for me?"
As Leo spoke, his gaze swept across the bar's patrons. Unfortunately, there wasn't anyone particularly outstanding or memorable.
Jack followed him from behind the bar: "This is Night City, a place full of lies and betrayals. You won't find a reliable person, someone you can trust with your back."
Besides, brother, it's only noon now. Most mercenaries looking for work are night owls; you've come too early.
"If I come at night, I'm afraid I'll become the 'job' that the mercenaries have found for me."
"Haha, who says otherwise? Robbing you is way more lucrative than being your bodyguard."
Looking at the Valentino gang members who made up at least 60% of the shop, Jack felt a growing sense of security and warmth, a feeling that had once filled him.
Gang members have their own rules for survival, which is to draw "nutrients" from ordinary citizens. Unfortunately, he, the free man, is also considered a citizen.
It's hard to say how many of his former brothers are still willing to truly help him...
"Well, never mind, let's just go through the motions first, Leo."
With a bewildered look in Leo's eyes, Jack took out two small glasses and placed them on the bar.
"According to the bar's rules, I'll treat new customers to their first drink."
He picked up a bottle of wine, filled a glass, and pushed one of the glasses toward Leo.
Colorless, odorless, clear and transparent.
"What kind of wine is this?"
"Bolshevik vodka, good stuff from the Russians."
Leo knew right away that Russian vodka couldn't be weak.
Fortunately, this small cup was only a large gulp, so it shouldn't have been wasted.
Seeing Jack's smiling face, he knew—his good brother was pouring him drinks, so he had to give him face.
"Alright, cheers." Leo picked up his glass, thought for a moment, and raised it to him. "To our new friend."
"Well said, classics never go out of style—for new friends, Desde luego (of course)!"
Jack raised his glass in response, then tilted his head back and downed it in one gulp.
Leo followed suit, but the next second he regretted it—he felt as if he had stuffed a piece of red-hot coal into his mouth.
The burning sensation traveled from my mouth through my throat and all the way down to my stomach.
My whole body felt hot and burning up in an instant, and my eyes twitched uncontrollably, almost bringing tears to my eyes.
"Depend on--"
There's something wrong with this wine!
It's not that it's poisonous, but rather that the brewing process and additives are problematic. The technology and ruthless methods of brewing in this era produce a spirit completely different from the vodka he had drunk before.
He massaged the corners of his eyes with his hands, trying his best to avoid the embarrassing sight of tears streaming down his face.
With great difficulty, he suppressed the stinging in his eyes, opened them, and saw that Jack was also grimacing, looking quite uncomfortable.
Seeing his gaze, Jack's lips twitched: "Maybe I shouldn't have drunk such strong liquor. My injuries haven't healed yet, and your prosthetic body is still adjusting... I was careless."
The two exchanged a wry smile, and Jack abandoned the idea of continuing to drink, quickly putting the vodka aside.
"Next time we drink, I'll make you a cocktail. I'm a temporary bartender, I've learned a few tricks—double tequila, with pomegranate juice and... what was it again?"
"Jack!"
The sudden sound interrupted Jack's thoughts.
Leo turned his head and saw an elderly woman with white hair, but in good spirits, waving at Jack.
"Come here for a second, your gang friends are here to see you again."
“Okay, coming right now.” Jack replied, quickly turning back to Leo and saying, “That’s my mom. I’ll introduce you to her later. I have to leave for a bit; I guess the old folks are coming to visit again. I told you she won’t die…”
He muttered as he stood up, his eyes lighting up: "Peppy, cover for me for a bit, and while you're at it, keep an eye on 'the big shot' for me."
Leo watched him walk out of the bar through the side iron gate and head towards a corner of the bar.
Another burly bartender walked behind the bar; his right arm from the elbow down had been replaced with a mechanical prosthetic, which looked pretty cool at first glance.
"Hey, my name is Peppy, nice to meet you."
"Call me Leo, it's nice to meet you."
After a brief greeting, Leo quickly declined his offer to "buy him a drink."
If I remember correctly, this Pepi should know V, the street kid. How can I find out about him without leaving a trace...?
Leo's fingers tapped the table unconsciously.
As he was thinking, he saw someone sit down to his right front.
He was already sitting at the far right of the front of the bar, and there was only one chair to the right of the bar.
The space there was very cramped, with a pillar right next to it, and an electronic mirror embedded in the pillar.
Leo always cared a lot about that position because that was where Street Kid V appeared.
When someone sat down next to him, he instinctively turned his head to check.
This was quite a surprise...
I'll blanch it—
Isn't that V?!
That mirror is V's summoning device? It actually summoned V!?
She was looking in the mirror with her back to Leo.
Unable to contain his excitement any longer, Leo quietly moved his chair closer to her, trying to discreetly observe her appearance in the mirror.
With a shaved side and shoulder-length hair highlighted in dark red, her delicate features exude a dashing yet slightly roguish charm.
Judging from her demeanor and clothing, this cool girl is undoubtedly the street kid V!
No, it should be Street Girl V!!
The moment Leo saw her, his heart trembled. After seeing her clearly, he completely melted.
This is V! The real V! The future legend of Night City, his ideal bodyguard!
How can I strike up a conversation to make the best first impression?
Should one smile more subtly or, like in the West, openly display their bright white teeth to show off their "wealthy" status?
Would it be too abrupt to call her by her name directly?
A chaotic storm raged in Leo's mind, and his fingers trembled wildly as he pounded the table.
Perhaps his gaze was too "enthusiastic," because V, who was looking in the mirror, tilted her head and glanced at him in the mirror.
Then she got up and walked straight to the door.
Leo received her warning look, but his reaction was—he must not let her escape!
Throughout the entire game, the truly good people in Night City are few and far between. Among them, the only one with both fighting ability and the power to be used by him is Vitalik Buterin!
Once we take down this formidable fighter, he won't have to fear even facing the Violent Terrorist Mobile Team or Adam Hammer from Arasaka!
"Leo...hey, Leo?"
Peppy's voice snapped him out of his reverie.
"What are you daydreaming about? Want a soda?"
"No..."
Leo suppressed his chaotic thoughts and turned to look—the bar door was swaying gently, and V's figure was nowhere to be seen.
Damn it, I shouldn't have been spacing out!
He jumped up and chased after the door at full speed.
"I saw someone I know, so I'll leave for a moment!"
"Huh?...Don't wander off by yourself!"
Pepi stretched out his hand in vain, watching him run away without looking back.
Wait... what's wrong with this person?!
Running around in Valentino's territory dressed like that—damn! I'd better notify Jack first!
Nobody: Chapter Twenty-One "You must be the famous V!"
Leo chased after him out of the Wild Wolf Bar.
Ignoring the onlookers,
He quickly looked around, searching for V.
If we miss this chance, who knows when we'll have another chance encounter?
We absolutely cannot let V get away like this!
Lady Luck smiled upon him today, allowing him to see V's back.
She paused for a moment in the due east direction and walked into a small alley.
Thank God!
GOGOGO!!
Leo swung his arms and sprinted away—a bright future awaited him not far away!
V—Dear V, the invincible V!
He covered a distance of about 100 meters in less than 11 seconds. If his physical education teacher from back then could see this, he would surely be smiling with satisfaction in his grave... Oh, no, he's not dead yet.
But whether he lives or dies is not important, what's important is V, fragrant and soft... Where is V?
