[Besides that, I want to share the story of the person standing next to me. His firm decision gave me the courage and determination to participate, and I sincerely want to share this honor with him.]
Could it be because of that sentence? But isn't that sentence quite normal?
Even though it's someone you most want to share with, it doesn't mean that people of the opposite sex will necessarily be in a romantic relationship. What about friendship? Did it get eaten by a dog? Pure friendship between men and women is possible too.
However, a group of starving single people probably wouldn't bother to delve into this point; they would only be thinking about tearing any couples who flaunt their intimacy in front of them to pieces.
While he was thinking, Iori boldly spoke up: "Why don't you just ask them why they're angry? They're all classmates, they shouldn't make you bleed on the spot."
"What if it comes to that?" Hachiman countered.
“Then we’ll sneak out the back door and escape the moment you’re tied to the stake.” Iori gave him a hearty smile and a thumbs-up.
"You guys are a bunch of bastards."
"Each each other."
Hachiman Hikigaya ignored his tantrums. The best solution now was to have Chisa clarify the relationship between them.
So he stood up and walked towards Chisa.
A barrage of sharp eyes pierced his knees. He used to be a man who could run 100 meters in 12 seconds, but now he staggered, his calves feeling like they were weighed down by hundreds of pounds of iron.
Hachiman Hikigaya approached Chisa Kotegawa. She was unaware of the atmosphere in the classroom, or perhaps she had already noticed but mistakenly assumed it was normal, since perverts should be addressed in this way. She calmly flipped through her German textbook.
“Hey, Chisa.” He spoke slowly.
The girl looked up at him, confused. "What's wrong?"
"you……"
At this point, Hachiman stopped what he was about to say. Just as an idiot suddenly began to think, or as if the universe had entered the Big Bang, he wondered if this clarification was really useful.
But now, even a dead horse has to be tried.
"Chisa, we're friends, right?"
"What weird things are you talking about?"
Chisa did not answer, but her silence showed that she agreed with his words.
"Since we're friends, could you help me explain to everyone that we're not dating?"
"Shall we... date?"
A look of confusion flashed in Chisa's eyes, and behind that confusion lay a hint of helplessness. Her voice suddenly rose a little.
"Why do you keep saying strange things? Are you hallucinating from drinking too much?"
If he could, he would wish it were all an illusion.
A whooshing sound came from the air. Hachiman subconsciously crouched down, then looked up. There was a piece of paper nailed to the wall not far away. The person who threw the dart didn't seem to intend to take his head in the classroom. The dart was a distance away from his original direction.
He pulled down the dart and stared at the few bright red characters on the top of the paper.
[Break up with me, or I'll kill you!]
"Look, I've already been physically harmed."
Hachiman handed the paper to Chisa. These guys probably couldn't hear anything after Chisa said "we're dating".
Chisa looked at the album, then suddenly stood up and shouted, "I really have nothing to do with him!"
Her shout stunned the crowd, who were still angry. The burly men who had been warming up looked like docile little rabbits in front of her.
Amidst the horde of rabbits, one whispered, "Really?"
In a moment of impulsiveness, she made a very bold move. By the time she realized it, a blush had naturally formed on Chisa's face, and her vision began to blur. After giving a soft "hmm," she glared at Hachiman and hurriedly left.
Her departure made Hachiman feel uneasy.
"That reaction, it's probably shyness."
"In other words, that kind of thing could happen at any time."
"Your death star is slowly shining above your head."
Oh no, we were misunderstood after all!
Hachiman leaned against the wall, looking at the approaching crowd. At that moment, he noticed two figures running in opposite directions: Iori and Kohei, who were preparing to escape.
Just as they said, these two were planning to sneak away while he was being punished!
"Wait! I have something to say!" Hachiman shouted, pointing at Iori and the other two.
"They've also started dating pretty girls from Qinghai Women's University! One of them is the beautiful girl with purple hair that day!"
As Iori and Kohei were stealthily crouching down to approach the front door, they suddenly sensed a sense of unease. Upon hearing Hachiman's shout, they instinctively turned to look at him, and their faces instantly turned ashen after hearing what he said.
"No! Get out!"
His words went unanswered by Kohei. Iori turned to look and saw Kohei stiffly being affectionately embraced by a burly classmate.
Click—click—
Hearing the sound, Iori froze. He looked back and saw that the door, which was just inches away, was locked tightly in front of him. His classmate, who looked like a giant, was smiling kindly as he approached him.
Iori looked up and roared to the sky, "None of this is real!!!"
Open a small bounty
I am aware that the recent update schedule has been unpredictable, which may have led to a lack of anticipation for the book's completion. However, in my opinion, the book's performance has been quite good. If I can maintain this pace, I should be able to reach over a million words by completing five or six female protagonist storylines, so there is no need to worry.
After the two-day hiatus, I've realized that relying solely on the Grand Blue storyline won't create a harem. Furthermore, the male lead I designed is based on the original Hachiman character, not just a skin, so it can't be like other Hachiman harem fanfics where the domineering aura instantly makes all the girls fall in love with him.
In my opinion, Hachiman Hikigaya is an extremely stubborn person. Everyone calls him a rational monster who will solve problems in the fastest, but not necessarily the most perfect, way after weighing the pros and cons.
But feelings are not something that can be definitively judged by time. For someone like him, it is extremely difficult to take the first step, let alone the fact that what I designed was the final outcome of a harem.
Modern slice-of-life, Grand Blue, Hachiman, harem—I've basically used all the difficult material available. So I've been thinking about how to make you enjoy watching while also keeping the plot, if not perfect, without any major flaws.
I came up with two solutions. One is to make the character out of character (OOC), but that's practically a death sentence in fanfiction. The other is to have my character, the Great Teacher, grow into someone who is willing to say, "I want it all."
It's a bit difficult, but I have a general direction, and I've already written the ending and put it in my notes. Whenever I feel lost, I take a look at it. Although I still occasionally get writer's block, I can guarantee two chapters a day.
Having said all that, let's get back to the main topic.
Although I think the book's performance is okay, it has indeed declined a bit recently. Also, I mentioned at the end of a chapter that I would offer a bounty, and so much time has passed, it's time to keep my promise.
Recommendation votes: 600 per chapter
Monthly pass: 80 per chapter
Blade: 50 per chapter
Donation: 10000 per chapter
Please ignore any tips. This is my first time doing this, so I don't know how much to set. I'll just set it to a high level to save you money. It's enough if you come to read the book every day and help me increase my subscriptions.
The deadline is one week, which is midnight on the 15th. If there is no upper limit, it may not be possible to finish in time.
Finally, I wish everyone happiness every day.
(P.S.: I don't know whether to wish all the students taking the college entrance exam good luck, because if any of you are still reading this book while taking the exam, you'd better watch out! (?O?O) You should really focus on studying Chinese, Math, and English!)
The arrival of a life of dregs
Chapter One: The Ocean and Club Recruitment
Under the bright midday sun, a black-haired boy got off the bus at the station by the sandy shore and walked along the deserted road, pulling his suitcase.
The crisp sound of waves crashing against the rocks filled his ears, and in his peripheral vision, he inevitably saw the surging waves and the silvery sunset reflected by the light. Under the scorching sun and smelling the salty sea breeze, the black-haired boy's eyes, hidden under his straw hat, revealed a look equivalent to that of a salted fish that had been dead for a long time and had been exposed to the sun.
Is it right or wrong to choose to study at a university in a coastal city simply because you want to be away from home?
Hachiman Hikigaya didn't know this; all he knew was that he wasn't good at sports, and he was already exhausted after just five minutes of dragging his luggage along this road.
Don't overestimate a high school graduate who only excels in humanities subjects. They are often quite useless. Not to mention, even during his daily free time, he would rather spend the whole day playing Monster Hunter on his handheld console than go out for a walk. As a result, he often receives speechless looks from Komachi.
She must be lamenting that she, as an older brother, is almost degenerating from a penguin into food carried in a penguin's beak.
How awful! If he could, he'd rather be a snow bear with a seal in its mouth!
[Beep, beep, beep.]
My phone received a text message from Yuihama.
[Has Xiaoqi arrived in Izu yet? What's the scenery like there? Is he adjusting well?]
I'm sorry, but he's not suited to this bright weather. He's better off staying in a musty corner after a rain.
He took a picture of the ocean view with his phone, sent it to Hachiman Hikigaya, and then turned off his phone.
How much longer until we get to school? He's a bit thirsty, and he wonders if there are any convenience stores or places nearby where he can buy water.
Wiping the sweat from his chin, he looked at the street to his right not far away. There seemed to be a store there, not the convenience store he had imagined, but it shouldn't hurt to go in and ask.
As Hachiman walked up to the store, he looked at the blue signboard above.
Grand Blue
"Big Blue?" Does it mean the ocean? Then it must be a store selling swimwear or other swimming equipment.
"Excuse me for bothering you."
Pushing open the store door and feeling the cool air from the air conditioner rushing towards him, Hachiman Hikigaya felt as if he had briefly come back to life for a moment.
"It's not time for our usual activities yet."
Hearing the door being pushed open, Kotegawa Toshio leaned out to look, only to find that the people standing at the door were not the group he had imagined, but a black-haired boy he had never seen before.
"This is quite unusual, that a customer would come at this time of day." Kotegawa Toshio wiped the fish scales off his hands with a towel, revealing a kind smile.
"Excuse me for bothering you, but I just wanted to ask how far it is from here to Izu University, and where there is a convenience store nearby. It's very hot today."
Hachiman Hikigaya closed the shop door to prevent the cold air from escaping. He stood at the shop entrance, asking questions while looking around at the surrounding environment.
Just as he expected, the store was filled with all sorts of marine supplies: inflatable swimming rings, scuba tanks, goggles, wetsuits, and... wait, it seemed like there were more diving-related items than anything else.
However, he was more concerned about a certain aspect.
"Um, do you sell soft drinks here?"
Hachiman Hikigaya pointed to a can of soda on the counter. He couldn't tell what it was from the outside, but judging from the red cover, it should be a drink similar to cola.
As for the sales information on the back of this beverage can, the orange-wrapped one should be orange flavored, and the green one should be apple flavored, just like how you distinguish candy by the color of the candy wrapper.
"Of course it's for sale, 530 yen per can."
The kind-looking shopkeeper spoke gently, his smile always bright, but Hachiman Hikigaya, a human spy, noticed that when he said he wanted to buy this can of soda, the corners of his mouth seemed to curve upwards again.
He didn't think much of it, just felt the joy of selling the goods and making money.
Is 530 yen a bit pricey for a can of soda? Is the cost of living in coastal cities really this high?
After paying, Hachiman Hikigaya put the soda in his pocket. Having anticipated the local weather, he was wearing a thin light blue and white striped shirt with large pockets, big enough to hold at least a pomegranate.
"It's the start of the school year, and there are quite a few new students. My nephew is also a freshman at Izu University. He'll be moving here from his place today. His name is Kitahara Iori. You might run into him at school. He's a nice guy. You two could try to become friends."
Kotegawa Nobuo kindly reminded him.
"Soda might not taste good if it's left out for too long, so the best choice is to gulp it down the moment you buy it."
"oh oh."
Hachiman Hikigaya nodded in confusion. If you don't open the can, even if you drink it at the last minute before the expiration date, it will still taste the same.
But it doesn't matter, he was thirsty anyway.
Just as he was about to open the jar, a hearty voice entered through the door.
"Hey, manager, we're here."
The voice sounded behind him. Hachiman Hikigaya turned around and saw two burly men in Hawaiian shirts occupying the entire entrance to the store. Their fierce expressions made him involuntarily take a few steps back and hold his breath.
"Hey, Ryujiro, Shinji, you're here." The shopkeeper waved and greeted them. "Perfect timing. I was just about to pick up my nephew, so I'm leaving the shop in your care."
"no problem!"
The man with short, neat hair gave an OK sign, then noticed the boy in front of him.
"We have a customer, manager."
