A middle-aged man dressed in a butler's uniform strolled leisurely to Murphy's side and said in a lazy tone:
"I'm here, sir. What are your orders?"
Murphy was furious at the butler's nonchalant attitude, as if he didn't care about anyone.
However, he also knew that this was due to the influence of worldly sounds, so he forcibly suppressed his anger and waved his hand, saying:
"Take the people and find a hotel outside to stay for a few days."
The butler nodded slowly, took two steps, then suddenly remembered something and turned back.
He was clearly being lazy, just standing there a few steps away from Murphy, asking:
"Have all the guards at the manor been evacuated as well?"
"What do guards do?" Murphy asked in return.
"Of course it's for protection... I understand."
The butler nodded, lazily gathered everyone together, and then led a group of equally lazy people, walking slowly into the distance.
After walking a distance, everyone was completely free from the influence of worldly sounds, and the butler's back was suddenly soaked with cold sweat.
He stiffly turned around and saw Murphy at the very back of the line, looking at him with a strange smile.
"My lord, do I still have a chance?" The steward was on the verge of tears.
"Only this one time."
Murphy gave a light snort, but didn't actually get angry.
The housekeeper nodded repeatedly, then quickly adjusted his mindset and worked hard to manage the team in order to demonstrate his abilities.
Murphy walked a distance, then suddenly stopped alone and looked back at the manor in the distance.
A hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes.
"Calmite...Witch King...Alas..."
Finally, Murphy shook his head, looked away and took a deep look at the butler at the front of the group, before stepping back to catch up with the group.
In the empty manor, only the melodious sound of the cello echoed forlornly.
Under Qi Yan's urging, Bai'e tried again and again to draw out the worldly voice within his body, but the worldly voice within Bai'e was ultimately a failure, and the effect was always unsatisfactory.
Even so, the golden light in Qi Yan's eyes grew stronger and stronger.
When Bai'e once again played the wrong note and was forced to stop playing, Qi Yan sighed softly, slowly got up and walked to the window.
Outside the window, dusk was falling, and the setting sun was hidden behind the towering building in the center of Viseheim.
"It's getting late, let's call it a day," Qi Yan said, turning his head.
Bai Ke let out a breath, his face showing undisguised exhaustion.
His repeated attempts to invoke worldly sounds took a toll on his body, even though he was unsuccessful every time.
Qi Yan noticed his exhaustion, stepped forward, took the cello from his hands, placed it on the shelf, and then said:
"Everyone has been cleared out of the manor. We'll probably have to make our own dinner. You go back to your room and rest. I'll go check the kitchen."
"I'll go instead. My body isn't ready for that."
Bai Wen smiled gently: "Someone as important as you shouldn't be in a place like the kitchen."
Qi Yan also smiled:
"You're wrong. I'm not some big shot. I used to wander the wilderness. My cooking skills aren't as good as my sister's, but they're not bad either."
Cretaceous was clearly somewhat surprised by this answer.
However, he still shook his head and persuaded Qi Yan to go back to her room to wait. Then, after finding out the location of the kitchen, he went there alone.
Qi Yan returned to his room and sat on the sofa, preparing to wait for the golden pupils to subside, when his keen hearing suddenly detected something unusual.
"Be careful, everyone. Although the owner of this manor is just a useless viscount, there's a monster guarding it now."
A figure completely shrouded in a black cloak was whispering a warning to his subordinates behind him:
"Our mission target is not that guy named Qi Yan, but the bloodline of the Witch King who possesses the voice of the mortal world. Capture him and take him away immediately, without lingering for even a minute!"
The group of people behind him, also dressed in black cloaks, nodded repeatedly.
Seeing this, the leader was still somewhat nervous.
But he received clear information that everyone had evacuated the manor during the day, making it a rare opportunity for a surprise attack.
Taking advantage of the manor's weakened defenses, they could sneak in unnoticed and capture the Witch King's bloodline who had suddenly wandered to Viseheim.
If you miss this opportunity, it will be difficult to get another one as good as this.
After a moment's thought, the leader hardened his heart and gave the order again:
"Send five people to launch a suicide attack on that guy named Qi Yan once our whereabouts are exposed, and try to hold him off for ten minutes... no, five minutes will be enough."
"At that time, I will use devastating methods. Even if I cannot kill Qi Yan, I can severely injure him, creating time for me to take away and hide the Witch King's bloodline."
Chapter 284 More Familiar Than Going Home
The group of people dressed in black cloaks looked at their leader with a chill in their hearts, but no one dared to refute them.
Under the leader's command, they split into several small teams and stealthily entered the manor.
The gradually darkening sky provided perfect cover for their actions.
The infiltration went very smoothly. Without any incidents, the people arrived at their designated positions and jumped through the windows into the villas of the manor.
As soon as they landed, they heard a melodious cello sound.
Upon hearing the cello, a glint of light appeared in their eyes.
According to the information they received, the person with the bloodline of the Witch King entered the manor to teach Qi Yan music.
At that moment, the sound of the cello provided just the right direction for their actions.
The group held their breath and focused intently on following the sound of the piano, soon arriving at the door of the performance room.
The group split into two sides and stood outside the door. At the leader's gesture, they decisively kicked open the door and rushed into the performance room.
The cello music stopped abruptly.
Inside the concert hall, White Cliff, holding her cello, watched nervously as the cloaked figures burst in.
"What do you want to do?" White Cree asked nervously.
"Stop wasting time talking to him, just take him away!"
The leader gave the order decisively.
Just as his men were about to rush forward and knock Bai'e unconscious, Bai'e took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and played his cello again.
The music was melodious, but this time it carried a strange, hollow rhythm.
Everyone, including the leader, was in a low mood.
"I'm so tired. Every day I'm trying to restore the rule of the Witch King, and everyone hates me like a rat in the street. I haven't made any progress in more than ten years."
"This is one of the only two remaining bloodlines of the Witch King. Are we really going to resort to violence?"
"I'm hungry. You guys go ahead and grab something. I'll sit down and eat something first."
A group of people stood still and immediately entered a state of giving up.
Chalk strives to maintain its guidance of earthly sounds and endeavor to prolong the duration of this performance.
The cloaked figures who had broken into the manor were even more depressed; their heartbeats slowed and their breathing became shallower.
Their eyelids were heavy, as if they had fought a three-day, three-night battle with someone, then went to participate in an extreme triathlon, and finally listened to a leader's report meeting all night on an empty stomach, feeling utterly hopeless.
Now, let alone the bloodline of the Witch King, even if the Twin Queens were to perform a striptease in front of them, they wouldn't have the strength.
In a daze, the leader suddenly heard a strange wrong note, and then the cello music was forced to stop.
The leader was shaken to his core as he broke free from the power of the earthly voice.
"Oh no, we've all been caught! Stop him!" the leader roared, struggling to stay afloat.
As soon as he finished speaking, he saw out of the corner of his eye a figure scrambling to his feet and lunging at Bai'er to knock him unconscious.
The cello fell to the ground, its strings broke, and the white chalk slumped softly in that figure's arms.
"Mission accomplished! No time to waste! Everyone, escape before Qi Yan can react!"
As he spoke, that figure hoisted the chalk and was the first to flee.
The others were overjoyed at the sight and, without thinking twice, got up and followed him.
The group fled the manor without stopping, running for two more streets before stopping to catch their breath.
The leader, still shaken, glanced back towards the manor. Seeing no one chasing after them, he breathed a long sigh of relief.
"It seems we've turned misfortune into blessing. Qi Yan must have been affected by the power of the Worldly Voice and failed to notice our actions in time."
"You did a great job, quick thinking. Remember to come find me for your reward when you get back."
The figure carrying chalk spoke with obvious delight:
"And a bounty, that's a real unexpected bonus."
The leader gave a soft hum, in a good mood because the mission had gone unexpectedly smoothly, and even had the inclination to make a joke:
"If you follow me, you'll definitely get your share of the benefits."
"After we return with the bloodline of the Witch King, we'll definitely be well rewarded by our superiors; everyone will get a share."
The leader's promise immediately boosted the spirits of the other cloaked figures.
"Thank you, boss. Following you was the best decision we ever made!"
"Boss, from now on, if you point east, I'll never go west. If you tell me to fight the White Queen from the Gemini Queens, I'll never fight the Black Queen!"
"You think you can fight the Gemini Queens? You're not even worthy of being beaten by them."
The group relaxed as they successfully completed the task and started joking with each other.
The leader coughed lightly, interrupting their conversation:
"Don't let your guard down. We need to hurry back to the base and hide the Witch King's bloodline before we can truly consider it a success."
They exchanged a glance, then, without lingering, shielded the companion carrying the chalk in the center and quickly retreated towards their base.
Bai'er was carrying on his shoulder, and the bumpy ride made him feel a little uncomfortable. He struggled a couple of times, and his thigh was immediately pinched.
Upon receiving Qi Yan's reminder, Bai'e had no choice but to suppress her discomfort and obediently continue pretending to be unconscious.
Qi Yan carried the chalk and mingled among the cloaked figures with ease, as if he were in his own water, even more so than when he was at home.
The group wandered through the streets and alleys, choosing secluded routes to avoid crowds, and even crawled into the sewers along the way.
The leader stopped and looked around warily to make sure there were no tails following behind him before he felt safe enough to press a stone block on the sewer wall.
Dark gold Originium circuits emerged from the sewer wall, which then parted to the sides with a hissing sound of mechanical gears, revealing a dark passage behind it.
The group filed in, and Qi Yan, whose eyes were hidden under his cloak, kept curiously looking around.
The passage wasn't long; after walking for less than two minutes, light appeared at the end.
Then his vision suddenly opened up, and a spacious underground laboratory appeared in Qi Yan's view.
Inside the laboratory, a group of people wearing sorcerer cloaks were engrossed in their experiments, not even glancing at Qi Yan and the others who had just entered.
The leader was not surprised by this. He led Qi Yan and his men through the laboratory and into a secret room deep inside.
"Isolate the bloodline of the Witch King inside, and then you all wait here to guard it. I'll go report."
The leader opened the door to the secret room, gave a brief instruction, and then turned and left.
Qi Yan tossed the chalk into the secret chamber and rubbed his hands together as he caught up with the leader:
"Boss, I don't want your bounty, just show me around and broaden my horizons."
The leader glanced sideways at Qi Yan, a slight smile playing on his lips beneath his cloak:
"You little brat, you want to climb the ladder?"
"Hey, look at what you're saying. I just want to show my face and try to become known to others," Qi Yan said with a smirk.
