“Jordy, something unusual must have happened in Granfalo.”
Outcast's inquiry came suddenly.
Jody's movements paused almost imperceptibly for a moment.
He quickly recovered and chuckled without turning his head:
"I don't know what you're talking about, ma'am."
"If I remember correctly, the ban on fishing boats in Iberia has been in effect for a long time, so why would ocean currents bring back an empty fishing boat?"
Jody couldn't answer.
This is a topic that cannot be touched.
Because of the recent popularity of those new types of pets, too many risk-taking merchants chose to ignore the Inquisition's ban, resulting in the Inquisition now being completely stationed in Granfalo.
Jodi is an Agor, an Agor living in Iberia.
He almost got taken away by the court because of this incident, even though he had never been involved in any of those things.
"I'm sorry, Grandma, I misspoke."
Outcast smiled and apologized, ending his probing.
Jody silently swept the chapel floor.
As Jody fell silent, the atmosphere in the chapel descended into a stifling stillness.
Outcast sat in his chair, tilting his head slightly to look up at the towering statue of a saint at the very front of the space.
Jody didn't know if she was silently praying in her heart. After quickly finishing her cleaning work, she picked up her briefcase again and walked towards the door.
The doors opened, and a damp, cold wind howled into the chapel.
Jody looked up at the dark clouds that had already reached overhead, then glanced back at Outcast.
He stopped and returned to Outcast's side, taking the umbrella off his briefcase and handing it to him.
"Madam, please accept this umbrella. I don't think the rain outside will stop anytime soon."
"how about you?"
“Even if Uncle Thiago knew I had an umbrella, he would still come out to pick me up out of concern.”
Jody smiled, the few freckles on his face making his smile even more gentle, like a boy next door.
His pointed ears twitched twice, and his golden eyes looked toward the open chapel doors.
A small water droplet appeared on the steps in front of the chapel, followed by a second, and then countless raindrops fell from the sky.
"Good boy, you can put the umbrella away yourself."
Outcast shoved the umbrella back into Jody's hand, and she stood up, adjusting her hat brim, and strode confidently into the pouring rain.
When Jody opened her umbrella to chase after him, she found that he had already disappeared into the rain.
Jody was somewhat bewildered by the sudden disappearance of Outcast.
Just then, four brightly colored figures, out of place in the rain, jogged toward the chapel.
Jody quickly made way for the four strangely dressed girls to come in and take shelter from the rain.
"Huh? That Sakta we just saw was really fast."
"Of course! Who would leisurely stroll around in such heavy rain? We followed suit and started running."
"Seeing someone running in the rain, I suddenly felt an urge to sing!"
The four girls thanked them briefly and then immediately resumed their discussion.
Jody glanced at the packages in their hands and roughly guessed that they were probably a band.
One of the girls with long pink hair shook the rain off her clothes and suddenly looked at Jody with curiosity.
Being stared at so boldly by a girl made the introverted Jody feel like bugs were crawling all over her body.
"Hello, hello..." Jody greeted shyly.
"Hello, Agorian, my name is Aya."
The pink-haired girl returned the greeting and continued to ask, "Do you know what's happening here?"
Jody was stunned by this nonsensical question.
Seeing his reaction, Aya said regretfully to herself:
“You don’t know, you’re not a child of the sea, you’re an Agor who was born on land.”
Jody was never good at socializing, and when she encountered this kind of riddle-talking person, she felt so embarrassed that she wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear.
But what happened next made Jody even more panicked.
To Jody's astonishment, Aya moved closer to him, their faces so close that Jody could clearly see every detail of the girl's fair face.
Jody felt a sudden, inexplicable fear.
He felt that the girl in front of him... didn't seem human.
“Sir, the smell is not coming from you.”
Aya suddenly stepped back and earnestly reminded her, "Then you'd better be extra careful in the days to come."
Chapter 1022 Qi Yan: Can I put up with this kind of bullshit?
"You, what are you talking about?"
Jody instinctively took a half step back, only to find that her heel had already touched the open door of the chapel.
"It's nothing, someone's here to see you."
Aya pointed to the rain outside.
The white rain poured down on the ground, even stirring up a layer of fine water droplets that looked like white smoke. An old figure holding an umbrella hurried over.
Seeing this, Jody didn't bother to ask what those words meant and quickly opened her umbrella to greet Thiago.
"Let's go, let's go home."
Thiago waved to Jodi, then turned and walked back, but before leaving, his gaze unconsciously swept over the four girls sheltering from the rain inside the chapel.
White raindrops transformed into long, thin threads in our vision, weaving the heavens and earth together.
Even though Thiago and Jodi were each holding an umbrella, their trouser legs still got wet.
Feeling the chill beneath his feet, Jody silently began to think about going home and making a pot of ginger and brown sugar water for himself and his uncle to ward off the cold.
“Jody, even though you’re this age, you’d better not get too close to those four girls… they don’t seem like respectable people.”
Thiago suddenly spoke, interrupting Jody's thoughts.
Jody blushed deeply and waved her hands repeatedly to explain:
"I didn't mean that."
"Hmm." Thiago breathed a sigh of relief.
Then he took the opportunity to speak:
"Don't go out these days, just stay home and rest for a while."
"Uncle, what happened?" Jody asked.
"Things aren't very peaceful lately," Thiago mumbled.
"Was it because of that empty fishing boat that was swept back by the ocean current?"
"……no."
Thiago paused, then spoke again: "Not entirely. It's said that something happened on the border between Iberia and Lateran."
Jody was taken aback: "Something happened at the border? Could it be..."
"Don't make wild guesses. Whatever happens, it's none of our business."
"Okay, uncle."
The uncle and nephew stopped chatting and quickened their pace toward their house.
The wind whipped up raindrops that slapped against the window, and under the influence of gravity, they rippled down in circles.
In a small cabin in Granfalo, Kal'tsit sat calmly opposite Carmen.
The atmosphere inside the room was as gloomy and oppressive as the weather outside.
“Mr. Carmen, I think I need an explanation,” Kal'tsit said, taking the initiative to speak.
"I don't know what kind of misunderstanding happened during this time. Perhaps Elena left in too much of a hurry, which prevented her from fully understanding the court's attitude."
Carmen rested his elbows on the table, his hands clasped together in front of his eyes.
He looked at Kal'tsit and said sincerely:
"The Tribunal never considered asking other countries for help. Sending Elena to participate in the World Summit was simply to prepare this land in advance."
"So you're just going to refuse Qi Yan and the Lateran reinforcements entry like this?"
"I only declined Lateran's offer; as both parties to the cooperation, Iberia welcomes Qi Yan's arrival."
Don't you think your awkward persistence is a bit ridiculous?
Carmen remained unmoved by Kal'tsit's mockery of her weakness and powerlessness.
He said slowly, “Iberia has made concessions, and we are willing to cooperate with other countries, including in the trade of supplies, to save the Iberian people who are beyond the protection of the Tribunal.”
However, allowing foreign troops into Iberian territory would cause immeasurable unrest, and the inquiries, based on entirely rational judgment, rejected these potential risks.
“The threats in the ocean are absolutely not something Iberia can defeat alone,” Kal'tsit emphasized.
"Therefore, we are willing to cooperate with Rhodes Island."
Upon hearing this, Kal'tsit frowned.
She bluntly stated Carmen's thoughts: "It seems you are not willing to cooperate with Rhodes Island, but only with Qi Yan."
Carmen did not refute.
The door to the cabin was opened from the outside, and a damp, cold wind rushed into the room, blowing the clothes and hair of the two people inside.
"Oh dear, the rain at the beach is still so cold."
An ordinary-looking Liberian man walked into the house, seemingly unconcerned that he was soaking wet, and strode to the table to sit down.
The room instantly transformed into a three-way standoff.
Carmen looked at the man with suspicion, then suddenly realized:
"Your Excellency the Shapeshifter?"
"It's us."
The Liberian man, transformed from a shapeshifter, raised his hand and shook the raindrops off his feathers.
He chuckled and said, "We already know about this. All we can say is... the court is too concerned about saving face. They've even abandoned all sense of decency for the sake of saving face."
Carmen: "..."
The shapeshifters' firepower continues unabated:
"It is said that Agor is an arrogant race and nation. Iberia once rose to power under Agor's rule, proudly ushering in the so-called golden age, and wantonly showing its strength to this land."
In retrospect, Iberia not only learned Agor's technology, but also his arrogance. Even if you were still in that golden age, let alone now that you've declined, you still think too highly of yourselves.
The Great Tranquility once destroyed Iberia and even sent Agor missing, his fate unknown as he hides in the sea. Now, Iberia still dares to have such courage in the face of the resurrected Sea Heirs.
We really should praise you guys, then immediately go back and have someone wipe out this bunch of incompetent teammates before joining forces to fight the Sea Siege.
Carmen: "…………"
His facial expression twitched slightly, and he almost couldn't hold back and retorted on the spot.
Kal'tsit took a deep look at the shapeshifter and for the first time thought that it might be a good thing that this guy had followed her.
But Kal'tsit still raised her hand to signal the shapeshifter to stop.
“Arguing is pointless to solve the problem,” Kal'tsit said calmly. “Since you already know about the border situation, you must have also been in contact with Qi Yan and know his attitude.”
