"Boss, what can I do for you?" A calm and capable voice came from the other end of the phone.

“I have a question for you,” Seiji Fujiwara said calmly, “Is there any way to recover the wreckage and all the remains of the victims of NH915, which crashed in Southeast Asia, region A, two months ago?”

Parker on the other end of the phone was visibly taken aback, seemingly extremely surprised that his boss would suddenly ask about this.

After a silence of about ten seconds, as if rapidly analyzing the situation in his mind, he replied in a much more serious tone than before:

"Boss... Sure, that's possible. The chaos in that region is orchestrated by the United States; many PMC companies with military ties are involved there. It won't be difficult to find intermediaries through our cooperative channels who can directly communicate with the local armed forces."

“But,” Parker added, “the expenses will be very, very high. Those outlaws are insatiable, and the middlemen will take huge commissions.”

Parker's implication was clear.

He thought that once Seiji Fujiwara learned of the consequences, he would abandon this crazy idea.

However, Seiji Fujiwara did not hesitate at all.

"Arrange for people to communicate with the recycling team. Money is not a problem."

Parker was stunned.

He took a deep breath, suppressing his surprise, and replied in a deep voice, "Yes, boss! I'll arrange it immediately!"

While admiring his boss's generosity towards his woman, Parker was also secretly thrilled.

Because he knew that once he closed this deal, his boss wouldn't treat him unfairly either!

……

……

Inside the film and television project team of Genesis, everything was bustling with activity.

Kato Megumi sat at her internship desk, staring blankly at the news notification on her phone screen.

The noise of her colleagues discussing projects and printing documents seemed to have faded away, leaving only those few lines of cold text in her world.

"...the search and recovery operation is officially terminated..."

Tears slowly seeped out.

She hurriedly lowered her head and quickly wiped away her tears with the back of her hand, afraid that her colleagues around her would see.

For the past two months, she has been hoping that the government will bring back her parents' remains, even if it's just a piece of clothing or a personal item.

But now, that last hope has been dashed.

Faced with this situation, the first person she thought of was Seiji Fujiwara.

But the thought only flashed through her mind before Kato Megumi extinguished it with even greater rationality.

Go find him, and what should you say? Cry and beg him for help?

Don't be silly, Kato Megumi.

That's something even the country has given up on; it's a complex issue involving the armed forces of another country. What could he possibly do?

Besides, what right do I have to make demands of him?

Everything I have already belongs to him. I owe him so much that I can never repay him in this lifetime. How could I have the audacity to add to his troubles with this matter?

He'll probably find it annoying.

Therefore, you absolutely must not go to him.

Kato Megumi took a deep breath, trying her best to suppress all the sadness and helplessness deep in her heart.

I can't see him. At least not today!

I know that my current appearance will definitely displease him.

Meeting in person would only be awkward.

With that in mind, Kato Megumi stood up and walked over to the project leader.

That was in front of a capable female leader in her thirties.

Kato Megumi lowered her head and said in as calm a voice as possible:

"Minister Tanaka, does the project team need someone to work overtime tonight to organize materials? I'd like to apply for overtime so I can learn more from my seniors."

Department Head Tanaka looked up at the pretty and well-behaved girl in front of him, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.

work overtime?

Everyone in the company knows that Kato Megumi is the boss's darling.

She came to intern, officially as an assistant, but actually to learn and experience, not to be exploited like cattle.

Normally, everyone would give her the easiest tasks, just hoping she wouldn't make any mistakes.

Now, she's actually volunteering to work overtime?

Department Head Tanaka was a smart woman, and she immediately realized that something was wrong.

"Oh...really? That's perfect, I have a batch of materials that need to be organized."

She didn't spell it out, but said in a businesslike tone, "However, according to regulations, interns need to fill out an application report stating the reason for working overtime, and I can only approve it after I approve it. Go and write the report first."

"Yes, thank you, Minister." Kato Megumi bowed happily and returned to her seat.

Looking at the girl's somewhat frail figure, Minister Tanaka shook his head, picked up the internal phone, and dialed directly into the secretary's office of the top CEO.

She knew very well that she couldn't approve this overtime request.

I need to consult my boss, Seiji Fujiwara!

Chapter 144 Yes, I'm waiting, Fujiwara-sensei (2/2)

This comes from Tanaka, the head of the Human Observation project team.

"What is it, Tanaka-san?" Seiji Fujiwara asked, picking up the phone.

Department Head Tanaka reported directly: "Boss, Ms. Kato just applied to work overtime tonight..."

Seiji Fujiwara was slightly taken aback.

"I understand," he said calmly. "Just pretend you didn't receive this application report and leave work on time."

"Understood, boss." Department Head Tanaka understood immediately.

hang up the phone.

A "ding" sounded on Seiji Fujiwara's private LINE.

It was sent by Megumi Kato.

She finished writing the overtime application, stared nervously at the screen, and spent more than ten minutes deleting and revising it before finally sending out a vague message:

[Fujiwara-sensei, the project team might be very busy tonight. I'll be working overtime with everyone, and it might get very late...]

After sending the message, she felt like her heart was about to jump out of her chest.

Soon, two small, gray words appeared below the message: "[Read]".

Then there is no more then.

no reply.

No questions were asked.

There wasn't even a single emoji.

As Kato Megumi looked at those two words, a huge, indescribable sense of loss overwhelmed her like a tidal wave.

He's probably tired of himself.

That's true. After so long, even the newest toy will eventually become tiresome.

She had probably lost her initial appeal to him. So, he didn't even bother to ask another question.

well...

Kato Megumi comforted herself with a wry smile.

That's good. At least we won't have to meet awkwardly anymore.

I no longer need to force a smile in front of him. I can be alone in peace and quiet now.

The girl breathed a sigh of relief, but her eyes welled up with tears once again.

……

……

In his office, Seiji Fujiwara looked at Megumi Kato's message, shook his head with a wry smile.

How could he not have guessed what Kato Megumi was thinking?

"All you do is daydream all day," Fujiwara Seiji muttered, walking out of the office.

work overtime?

Not allowed!

……

……

Night falls.

However, a film and television shooting base located on the outskirts of the city was still brightly lit and bustling with people.

This is the filming location for the latest TV series of Genesis.

The staff were busy adjusting the lights and laying tracks, while the director's impatient urging came through the walkie-talkie.

The air was filled with the smells of boxed lunches and hairspray, a mix of anxiety and excitement.

Kato Megumi sat on an inconspicuous prop box, oblivious to the hustle and bustle around her.

She was like a cat that had wandered into a party, sitting quietly, bewildered.

Half an hour has passed.

The overtime request disappeared without a trace, receiving no response. Department Head Tanaka seemed to have gone out on business; before leaving, he gave her a meaningful look but said nothing.

They probably tacitly agreed.

Kato Megumi thought so.

She unlocked her phone screen again and opened her LINE chat with Seiji Fujiwara.

Below that message, there were still only two cold, gray "read" marks.

Her heart sank even lower.

As expected... that's how it is.

He saw it, but he said nothing. This felt more like a silent piercing than any explicit rejection.

He's probably really tired of it.

Or perhaps he simply felt that his sadness was an untimely and troublesome emotion.

She even started to find reasons for him in her mind:

With so many important things to deal with every day, and so many challenges and praises from people, how could Fujiwara-sensei have the energy to care about the trivial feelings of a toy?

She still fantasized that he would appear before her domineeringly as before and drag her back... How ridiculous!

Kato Megumi, you can't cause him any more trouble.
