"You're awake," the giant wolf said in a deep voice.
“No.” Bray stared blankly up at the light shining through the gaps in the leaves.
"..." The giant wolf fell into a long silence.
“My ally, you’re not quite dead yet. Don’t give up on yourself so quickly.” Nicholas, still in the posture of a young girl, sat on a tree branch, chin in hand, looking down at Bray.
"Am I not completely dead?" Bray murmured. He didn't look completely dead. This world really is not scientific at all.
"You don't actually believe you can't win, do you?"
“I didn’t think about whether I could win or lose,” Bray said.
He struggled to his feet and took a breath.
However, the cold air made his lungs ache when he breathed.
“Your injuries haven’t healed at all; you should be lying down,” Favarona glanced at Bray.
“Oh.” Bray nodded, then slowly lay down.
Just as Favarona said, he could feel how bad his body was.
Normally, Favarona could completely heal other people's injuries, so she wouldn't be injured like this herself.
“The ‘result’ of your healing is locked in. It will take some time to erase the influence of the Umkandar concept,” Favarona said quietly, licking her wolf fur.
This process doesn't require Nicol Bolas or Favarona; all that's needed is for Bray's longsword to consistently exert its suppressive effect.
"What's the situation outside now?" Bray now understood his own predicament to some extent, but was more concerned about the situation of Kapras outside.
"Whether it's the Iron type or the Bronze type, they've all lost," Nicol Bolas said with considerable regret.
The balance of the world has completely collapsed, but just as Umkandal said, the extent of the damage to the World Wall has been perfectly controlled.
To date, the Golden Seed has not been able to further intervene in the world.
But Nicholas was still filled with unease; things in the world couldn't be that easy.
"Did we lose everything?" Bray was a little dazed, but he didn't yet understand what this "loss" meant.
"Judging from your bewildered look, it seems I'll have to explain it to you in great detail." Nicol Bolas shrugged.
“Go ahead and tell me, I don’t know anything.” Bray shook his head helplessly. He had no idea what kind of dramatic changes had taken place in the world after he fell.
He just hoped that when he woke up, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
"When a shaman dies, the entire array set up throughout Kapras is activated."
"The effects of those magic arrays are probably a weakened version of the suppression effect of your longsword."
"But this is enough for the Iron or Bronze races to resist the Silver races within the magic circle."
“So you do have a place to stay,” Nicol Bolas said.
“Bronze?” Bray keenly caught the word.
"First, angels cooperated with the people of the Western Continent, and then it seems that demons have also crawled out. I just don't know if the sea creatures will also emerge." Nicol Bolas tidied his messy long hair.
"By the way, there are no problems in the capital. Xiao You and Xiao Xue are doing their jobs well," He added casually.
Since we're allies, it's only right that we look out for Bray.
It's important to know that initially, both sides made certain promises to each other, and protecting the people in the capital was one of Nicol Bolas's promises.
“Actually, there’s more to it than meets the eye, but you’ll understand it better if you experience it for yourself,” Nicol Bolas suggested to Bray.
This is definitely not something Nicolas said because he was too lazy to explain.
There were just too many things to mention. For the Black Iron race, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the world had been destroyed once.
However, this only applies to the Iron race. For the Silver race, the world was not destroyed; in fact, it was reborn.
Silver-level players will have a very comfortable life from now on, with plenty of resources and, most importantly, freedom.
From now on, traces of the Silver Seeds can be seen all over the world, and nothing can stop their actions.
The same applies to Nicol Bolas.
Unlike the other Silver Saints, Nico Bolas wasn't excited because he always had a bad feeling about it.
"What are your plans for the future?" Bray asked curiously.
"Are you more curious about my future than what you'll do yourself?" Nicol Bolas looked at Bray with interest.
A normal person would definitely ponder how they would survive after the world is destroyed.
Bray, on the other hand, asked about Nicol Bolas, who was the least affected.
"As for me, I probably live with Favarona, as do Xiaoxue and Xiaoyou," He said, touching his lower lip with his finger and glancing at Favarona.
"Get out, you're not welcome." Favarona refused without even thinking.
“See? Favarona is quite hospitable,” Nicol Bolas said confidently.
"I cannot use concepts inside the magic circle, and this applies to both Xiaoxue and Xiaoyou."
“That place is too restrictive for us; to be honest, it makes us feel somewhat insecure,” Nicholas said.
While it's not to say they'll be defeated by lower-level species, the Silver species, having lost all sense of reason... it's truly indescribable.
People like Bray do exist, so it's best not to take the risk.
"The only safe place for you lower races from now on is the magic array left by the monastics."
"However, even so, it is not absolutely safe. If Ummkandar, or a being slightly weaker than Him, wanted to invade your world, it would be very easy for Him."
“You must understand this very well,” Nicol Bolas remarked.
Bray did fight against Silver-class beings whose concepts were suppressed... indeed, many of them were simply unbeatable.
"So-called security is only based on the premise that the Silver Race is too lazy to further exterminate the lower races." Nicol Bolas jumped down from the branch and patted Bray on the forehead.
"Live well, ally."
“I never thought about dying,” Bray said.
Bray was sent back.
Although his body was still battered and bruised, according to Favarona, he could at least exert 60% of his full fighting power.
If you rest and recuperate for a year or two, you can return to your peak condition.
To be honest, Bray never thought he would survive; he was incredibly lucky to be injured like this.
Umkandal... well, right now Bray really can't beat that guy.
They fought to the death, and the opponent only lost an arm. Thinking about it carefully, the difference is really quite big.
"Please feel free to call and summon Little Nick from now on." After the newly created Little Nick placed Bray in a place very close to the inner city, he said respectfully.
"A call?"
“It’s just calling out names,” said Nick, who had changed into camouflage.
As for why it's camouflage, that's a question for Nicolas. Maybe he didn't want Nick to be so easily hit again?
In any case, Nick was also one of Bray's comrades, since the only two injuries he sustained were from fighting alongside Bray.
"I'm so sorry to always mess with you like this," Bray said, bowing in thanks.
“It’s okay, Nick’s core data isn’t here. The so-called body is just a body, it doesn’t include anything else about Nick,” Nick said nonchalantly.
"Then please go back and check on them as soon as possible." After saying this, Little Nick disappeared into the void.
Leaving Bray alone in the desolate city ruins, a short walk would take him to the last stronghold of the capital—the inner city.
After walking a few steps, Bray could see the magic circle that Nicol Bolas had mentioned to him.
The area is quite large, and it is constantly absorbing divine power.
This is quite a move... It seems that the one who kept a secret even after death was Betley.
However, instead of heading towards the inner city immediately, he turned and walked towards the central city.
There, he sensed several silver-blooded corpses.
"Mr. Bray, aren't you going home to see your family?" As Bray passed through some ruins, a familiar voice came from a relatively well-preserved house.
“Father Thun…” Bree stared blankly for a long, long time after seeing Father Thun’s clothes stained with blood and ash.
“Ah…it’s normal to be surprised to see me here.” The priest seemed to understand why Bray was surprised and said with a smile.
"If you don't mind, or if you're not in a hurry to go home... why don't you sit down and rest for a bit?"
“Okay.” After a second or two, Breton nodded, walked to the edge of the house, and sat down on the ground.
"What's going on here?" Bray looked up at the slightly brighter sky. He didn't know how long he had slept, and it seemed that neither Nicol Bolas nor Favarona had mentioned it to him.
“This is where the last hope of the lower races lies,” the priest said, his eyes lowered.
This is the core of all the magic circles. If Betley's heart is destroyed, everything in front of us will be reduced to nothing.
"I see..."
“It’s been about three days since you left, and I finally understand how difficult it is for others to get through without you.”
"It's alright, I only slept for 3 days." Bray didn't really care about the second half of the priest's sentence; he was more concerned about the 3 days.
If you accidentally ended up sleeping for months like in a novel, that would be truly terrible.
Is it time that matters?
"But it is you after all." The priest smiled casually.
How is the church?
"The church collapsed, and several children died," the priest said in a very soft voice.
His words seemed casual, but every single one carried a heavy weight.
"..." Bray was speechless for a moment, and simply closed his right eye.
"Don't worry about it, it's not your fault," the priest suddenly said.
"Will you be sitting here from now on?"
"Later? Maybe. I don't know how long I'll have to sit here, or how long I'll live here." Father Thun stroked the ring hanging around his neck.
The ring's light was dimmer than ever before, and even the heart it held seemed to have changed beyond recognition.
"What about food and drink?"
“I really hadn’t thought about this, and I didn’t even realize I hadn’t eaten for several days.” The priest gave a wry smile, only realizing it when Bray reminded him.
He did drink water, though; it was rainwater.
I really didn't eat anything.
He subconsciously touched his chapped lips. Yes, how he would manage to eat and drink in the future was also a problem.
“I’ll go back and get you some later,” Bray said, standing up.
"Thank you, and please take care of yourself," the priest said with a smile.
He could naturally see just how bad Bray's health was now; he probably had been through a brutal battle.
When the nest is overturned, no egg remains unbroken; no one can escape this natural disaster.
“Cherish the people around you, this world... has become cruel.” The priest said abruptly as Bray turned his back to him.
"Okay." Bray stiffened for a moment, then responded.
This time, he really left the central city and headed towards the inner city.
What has become of the inner city now? And as for finding food for the priest, I wonder if there is actually a food shortage these days.
If it's in short supply and can't be found, the only option is to search through ruins.
I just hope the priest won't be disgusted by the food covered in dust.
As he pondered, he unknowingly crossed one ruin after another.
We didn't see a single living Silver Race creature on the road... but we did see one or two Silver Race corpses.
He arrived at the edge of the magic circle, expecting to be heavily guarded.
But the view was empty; there was no one there.
