The headless giants were all sent flying by the aftershocks.
That's right, this sword strike didn't directly target any giant.
It's just using the aftershocks to damage these monsters.
The aftershocks are enough.
Centered on the greatsword, the shockwave spread out and was then swept back in.
The chains in the giants' hands broke into small pieces.
As for the headless giants, they lay twitching weakly beneath the collapsed walls. Bray emerged from the billowing dust, flicking the black blood from his sword.
Along the way, Bray was blocked by far more than just a few headless giants.
In his nightmare, countless enemies surged forth, all wanting to stop Bray from reaching the clock tower.
The eerie-looking streetlights shone on Bray.
In the dim light, Bray's shadow stretched long on the wall.
A whisper sounded in my ear.
Bray turned his head and was suddenly struck by the sight of the distorted human figures on the wall moving.
What was originally just a sculpture came to life in an instant.
Hands reached out toward Bray.
These hands had arms as thin as matchsticks, but the palms were unusually large.
Bray moved slightly away from the walls.
These humanoids look terrifying, but they cannot break through the wall that binds them.
"Ahhhhh..."
"Help me..."
"No, I don't want to stay here."
A deep voice came from the mouths of these humanoids.
However, Bray completely ignored all of these words.
Talking to Bray about this won't do much good.
Some might feel fear or pity, but Bray will not.
But just because Bray doesn't care about these things doesn't mean they won't come looking for him.
As Bray walked forward, he suddenly noticed that the road was starting to narrow.
Those humanoid hands were getting closer and closer, ready to grab Bray at any moment.
“Hey, hey, hey…” Bray raised his right eyebrow.
Although Bray understood that this was a dream, and could be controlled to some extent.
But narrowing the road is going too far.
Bray was completely helpless in this situation; he couldn't very well just smash down the walls.
"Wait a minute, it seems like it might actually work." Bray frowned, realizing that the whole idea was surprisingly good.
"BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then a loud explosion occurred.
The two walls pressing down on the Bray were blasted into pieces by the greatsword.
“Aaaaaaaahh ...
The human-shaped figures on the wall emitted pitiful cries.
The upper bodies of these human figures fell to the ground, and the blood from their wounds stained every crack in the brickwork.
"Help me..."
"Help me..."
"It hurts so much, it hurts so much..."
The humanoid figure on the ground struggled to reach out to Bray.
Bray understood that these things were not the same kind of monsters he had seen at school.
These are merely empty shells.
Bray continued walking forward, and a long time must have passed, but the second bell still hadn't rung.
It's possible that the bells won't ring a second time tonight.
So when will this night finally end?
"You, an outsider, shouldn't be here." The hollow voice echoed around Bray.
Bray could not see the person speaking, but could only hear the voice.
“Unfortunately, this isn’t the place I wanted to come in.” Bray shrugged. He hadn’t intentionally wanted to enter this wretched nightmare.
But when night falls, they are naturally drawn in.
Bray was also quite troubled.
"You're not allowed to cause trouble in this experimental field." The voice gradually became clearer; it was Logan's voice.
"An experimental field, huh?" Bray murmured.
There are madmen every year, and Bray hates them all.
"Dreams are the possibility of everything; dreams give me a way to glimpse the truth."
"Get out of this dream."
As soon as he finished speaking, the thick fog began to churn and surge.
"Bang!!!! The mist condensed into a fist and slammed into the ground."
Bray stepped back, dodging the skillless attack.
But Bray was a little conflicted; it seemed he couldn't hit the fog.
It is not made of magic, nor is it a vengeful spirit, nor is it any kind of concept.
This rendered many of Bray's methods ineffective.
The white mist surged once more, and a monster made of mist roared at Bray.
“The nightmare will continue indefinitely, and you will be powerless to stop it.” Logan’s voice was low and echoing.
"Tsk." Bray tried to swing his sword, but found that he only dispelled the mist and did nothing to harm the monster formed from the white mist.
“Your struggles are pointless. This is a dream, and I am the master of this nightmare,” Logan said quietly.
"Logan," came the voice of old man Owen.
"You've gone further and further down the wrong path."
The elderly Owen struggled to push his wheelchair and appeared behind Bray.
"Irving?"
"This is not the wrong path!"
"Look at what you've done; isn't that proof that you've gone astray?"
“That was just a necessary sacrifice on the path to truth, just like we did back then,” Logan said coldly.
"Enough, Logan. That's our sin, not something to be proud of."
Then old man Owen raised his hand.
Then the white mist dissipated from Owen's center, and the monster formed by the white mist was also destroyed.
Silence fell, and all was calm.
"I've always been curious about why you can interfere with this dream."
"I am the master of this dream."
That's right, Logan should be in control of this nightmare. Even if Irving is incredibly capable, he shouldn't be able to interfere to this extent.
"Logan, do you still think this is your dream?" The old man's voice sounded full of pity.
"Decades have passed, and you still think you're the master of every nightmare you create?"
"Migorawain is the master of all nightmares, Logan."
“Shut up, Irving,” Logan said, his voice filled with rage.
"It wasn't you who used Migorawin, but Migorawin who used you."
But Logan didn't want to continue talking to Irving.
"My dearest friend, it's time for you to leave this dream."
The impact, invisible to the naked eye, struck Irving.
However, the impact dissipated less than a meter in front of Irving.
"Leave!" But this wasn't Logan's full attack.
The attack, hidden behind the previous impact, struck Irving directly in his wheelchair.
Irving was knocked several meters away and lay on the ground, unable to move.
The old man could foresee all the attacks, but that didn't mean he could dodge them all.
It is too weak.
"You're too old, even in this dream."
“You’re too weak. You never try to become stronger,” Logan said dismissively.
The old man lay on the ground with his hand on his chest.
Irving's breathing sounded rapid; the attack just now had severely injured him.
“This nightmare will continue indefinitely until I finish everything.” Logan’s voice grew louder and more agitated.
"Don't ruin another town, Logan."
"There are already too many people who are cursed."
"The night is too long."
"It's time for dawn to break."
"Ah ah..." The old man struggled to get up, his voice hoarse.
Logan didn't hold back at all.
Of course, the elderly cannot handle it.
"Poor Irving, is this the path you call it?"
"Can't see, can't hear, can't speak." This time, Logan's tone was full of pity. —"Logan, what I need is not your pity, but your clarity." The voice of the old man Owen that entered his mind was still full of vigor.
These are not words spoken with the throat; even if old man Irving were to suffer a severe injury, it wouldn't affect him.
"Awake? I'm more awake than ever, Owen," Logan's voice came from the mist.
Unfortunately, Bray never found out where the Logan were hiding.
They couldn't even catch a glimpse of him, let alone attack Logan.
"Die in your dreams, Owen."
"You've been in my way for far too long."
"Now that you've shown yourself to us, I'll just send you on your way."
The thick fog solidified into a giant hand, grabbing old man Irving.
But the old man squinted, and the fog was immediately dispelled.
Just then, Bray's pupils contracted, realizing that something was wrong.
"Watch out!" Bray shouted, even though he knew the old man couldn't hear him, he still instinctively called out.
