"You have a wonderful girl!"
"Hurry up, stop dawdling, old man. I need to see the port's fighter jets join the battle in ten minutes. There's a limit to saving the world!" Rob shoved the old general and the unconscious Arizona into the car.
"You brat, you just wait!" The old general cursed as Rob shoved him into the car. Before the car started moving, he turned back and called out to Rob, "Thank you, kid. And please, don't die."
Rob waved behind him, then turned and rejoined the battle. He needed to observe the battlefield and direct the company to support the areas most in need.
Chapter Nine: A Short Break
[Congratulations, host, on achieving the achievement: Clear Skies.]
During a lull in the battle, the system popped up and made its presence known.
"Hey system, don't I have anything like the Phoenix Assault Suit here?" Rob found a tap and gulped down water. The battle, lasting only about half an hour, had left his lips cracked and his throat feeling like it was on fire. "Enterprise's form-cutting skills are exhausting; even watching her get tired is tiring."
[Both Phoenix Strike and Perfect Strike are value-added units; given the host's current financial situation, it's advisable not to overthink them.]
"Boiled!"
Isn't it better to just accumulate experience and level up to Freedom directly?
"Well said. So how much experience did I gain today?"
Not many. You should know that swapping aircraft carriers to farm planes will result in a rollback!
Rob almost couldn't catch his breath, and decided to ignore the terrible system for the time being, turning to look at the company that was leaning against the wall with its eyes closed, resting.
"Enterprise, are you alright?"
The silver-haired girl leaned against the wall. Although the battle hadn't caused her any damage, it was clear that the grief of witnessing a living person perish before her eyes was not easy to bear.
"Commander, I'm alright." Enterprise shook her head, slapping her cheeks with both hands, trying to rouse herself. "How much time do we have?"
"I don't know. Maybe it was just that one wave of attacks, or maybe a new attack will come in the next minute."
"Kid, how's it going over there? Still alive, huh?" Major General Jenkins' slightly distorted voice, mixed with noise, came through his personal communication device. It seemed that the communication facilities had been affected by the attack, but fortunately, communication was still possible.
"It's fine! Those things are far from enough! How's the situation on your end, Grandpa?"
"To be honest, the situation is very bad. Arizona is completely incapacitated. California, West Virginia, and Oklahoma are in a better situation and still have some combat capability. But if they are attacked by airstrikes of the same magnitude as before, the chances of survival are slim."
"Where are the army aviation planes in the port area? I've already conducted a whole round of air raids, and I haven't seen a single plane? Old man, this isn't how you conscript men!"
"The airport area in the port area is receiving special attention. Today, none of the planes are parked in the hangar; they are all on the airport preparing for maintenance. I estimate that only twenty or thirty planes are still operational now."
"Grandpa, this joke isn't funny." Rob was almost laughing in exasperation. A plane sitting in the sun at the airport? What sun? A little boy?
"This is my dereliction of duty, but now, Rob, please hold on no matter what! We've made contact with the Enterprise and the Bumblebee, and reinforcements will be here soon!"
"Old man, are you trying to fool me? My company said those two have gone on a mission. They're at least several hundred nautical miles from the port area!"
"No, Rob, listen to me! The Enterprise and Hornet didn't sail to their mission location as planned. They've been sailing at a low speed all the way, and they're now less than two hundred nautical miles from us! Moreover, the Enterprise has already launched its carrier-based aircraft towards us. The Lexington is also heading this way!"
"At least there's some good news, old man. Send out your dozens of army aircraft. We don't need them to stop the enemy, but at least give us some time to prepare."
"Preparations are already underway. Kid, I'm counting on you this time; it all depends on you."
"Alright, old man, I've done my best!" He shook his head with a wry smile and hung up the call. "I'm just a greenhorn!" Rob turned to Enterprise and said, "Take a good rest now, it'll be your turn to save the world later!"
【You are our army's last hope!】The system seized the opportunity to make its presence known.
Rob found a decent room. Although the building had suffered some damage in the bombing, it wouldn't collapse anytime soon. He swept the dust off the bed and said, "Enterprise, you can make do and rest for a bit. The old man sent people out to scout the situation. I'll let you know if there's anything."
Enterprise didn't refuse, and without even unequipping her gear, she lay down on the bed for a nap. Rob himself, on the other hand, took advantage of the moment to lean against the wall, observing Enterprise's sleeping face while reviewing his gains from the recent battle.
First, the achievement rewards: I cleared the sky twice, and the reward... Where's my achievement reward?!
"System, where are my achievement rewards? At least the Russians gave me some flags!"
The Russians have changed the game and stopped giving rewards. So there are no rewards.
"You idiot, you even have real-time updates, huh?!"
[The host has completed the first battle, unlocking the Profit Boost System and the Cargo Container System. Additional rewards include 100 million Silver Coins, 10 Global Experience, 10 Special Boost Rewards each, and 3 Super Supply Crates.]
"Huh? A big box? What can you get out of this thing?"
[It has everything.]
"Let's open one and see. If we get a high-level mech, forget about defense, I could just march all the way to Sakura Empire's homeland!"
[Open the container—Super Supply Crate*1, receive reward—Detonation Flag*100.]
"I... System, you..." Rob felt it, it's back, it's all back, that feeling of blood pressure soaring. "Forget it, let's keep those two boxes for now."
[Understood. Host currently has 2 Super Supply Containers?]
"What a terrible system! Oh no, I feel my blood pressure rising again! I'd better look at my wife's sleeping face to lower it."
About 200 nautical miles from Pearl Harbor, the Sakura Empire's First, Second, and Fifth Carrier Divisions were gathered together. To minimize the chance of being detected, they didn't even have a mass-produced fleet accompanying them.
"Sister, the first wave of airstrikes did not achieve the expected results; the enemy ships did not suffer the anticipated damage."
"It's alright, Kaga, continue with the second wave of airstrikes. I just saw something quite interesting! It seems the White Eagles are hiding a lot of things we don't know about. But, hehehe, it doesn't matter, they're just a few interesting ants."
In another direction, less than 200 nautical miles from Pearl Harbor, the Enterprise and the Hornet are sailing at full speed toward the port.
"What the other female executive said actually happened! The port area was really attacked!" Bumblebee pressed down on his cowboy hat while launching a fighter jet.
The company pursed its lips and released two groups of reconnaissance aircraft to the other side.
"Huh? Enterprise, the port area is this way!" Bumblebee said, puzzled.
"Simply retreating to defend is not enough."
"Sister Enterprise, what do you want?"
"I'm going to find the Sakura Empire's fleet!"
"Kid, the reconnaissance plane has spotted something!" came the voice from the communicator, signaling the end of Xuan Buluobo's rest time.
"I see."
Upon hearing the sound, the business immediately sat up in bed and calmly looked at Rob.
"Business, please get ready, break time is over."
After finishing his sentence, Rob turned to leave. "Um, Commander... what is the system?"
Behind Rob, the company blushed.
Chapter Ten: The Second Battle
High in the air near Pearl Harbor.
"Report, second squadron has spotted a target; the target group is directly below us. Should we attack?"
"First squad, received. Second squad, take up altitude and remain concealed. Then return to port."
"Captain, we should launch an attack! Are we really going to dump all the problems on Miss Enterprise who can fly again? We don't want to be cowards!"
"The Flying Enterprise" is a nickname the soldiers just gave to the company. After all, there are now two Enterprises in the port area, and flying ships are truly an eye-opener. Ships that can jump to dodge torpedoes by pressing the spacebar or those that can float in the air aren't particularly rare. But a ship that can perform maneuvers in the air is truly unique; there's no other like it.
"No, you all go back and help Miss Flying Enterprise, I'm going to do something big!"
"Hahaha, Captain, you're not being fair. You still owe me a bottle of wine from last week. Take me with you this time, and we'll call it even!"
"Third squad reporting, Captain, you still owe us two hundred from last month."
"Fourth squad reporting, question: what's the big one?"
"Follow the direction the enemy aircraft came from, locate their aircraft carrier! Then try to disable their rudder!"
"Captain, you're amazing! We're betting on this one!"
"Idiot, even if we find it, we definitely won't be coming back!"
"Hahaha! Then I won't be coming back!"
"Alright! You rascals, climb up and hide yourselves in the clouds! Let's go pull off a big heist!"
Pearl Harbor Command Center.
"Report to command: The second flight squadron has spotted a group of target aircraft 65 nautical miles north of the port area! I repeat! A group of target aircraft has been spotted 65 nautical miles north of the port area!"
"Command received. Flight squadron, please return to base! Flight squadron, please return to base!"
"Reporting to command, the flight squadron is about to carry out a mission to search for and attack the enemy fleet."
"Are you all crazy! Get back here, that's an order!" Major General Jenkins snatched the microphone and roared into it, spitting all over the communications officer's head.
"Major General, I'm sorry, we cannot obey this order."
"You wait, I'm going to send you all to a military court!"
"Major General, we weren't planning on coming back! You can have your military court sent to someone else! And Major General, I won't pay back the cigarettes I owe you. Goodnight, Major General."
The squadron leader hung up the communication after speaking. Major General Jenkins smashed his cup on the floor, yelling, "They're all a bunch of bastards, bastards!" His voice, initially a roar, gradually choked with emotion. He paused, then said, "Get Rob!"
On the Sakura Empire fleet side.
Akagi's expression was grim. The second wave of airstrikes was even less effective than the first. The most active insect had just become even more troublesome, its speed increasing. With the assistance of numerous warships, they had actually managed to intercept most of the airstrikes? What a joke! Had the White Eagle recently acquired some kind of Zentradi technology?
(Robo: Thanks for the invitation. I just wanted to see if the speed flag would work, and I didn't expect it to actually speed things up.)
This insect cannot be kept; it will have unforeseen consequences for our future plans.
"Target changed. Kill that flying bug!" Akagi's words were laced with anger.
"elder sister?"
"Execute the order. That bug is strange." It took a direct hit from the cannon of its own carrier-based aircraft and was completely unharmed. What the hell is this thing?
(Robo: Sorry, PS armor can do whatever it wants as long as there's enough energy.)
"Oh dear, the seniors are really something, always assigning all sorts of tricky tasks to the juniors."
The speaker was a silver-haired woman wearing a kimono with crane-wing sleeves. She held a flute in both hands, seemingly having just stopped playing. A faint smile played on her lips. She looked like a typical Yamato Nadeshiko, and the beauty mark at the corner of her eye added to her charm.
"Your seniors' battle just now was truly an eye-opener for us juniors. Zuikaku, you should learn from the seniors of the First Carrier Division."
"Sister Xianghe!"
Akagi, who had just lost all his planes due to overconfidence, frowned and thought to himself, "Do I still need you guys? I'll write this down in my notebook and deal with you when I get back!"
"Shokaku and Zuikaku, you have the most planes left. You will be the main attackers this round. Hiryu and Soryu, you will provide cover. Make sure to kill that jumping bug."
"No problem, no problem. Although our seniors are a bit capricious, it's our duty as juniors to obey their orders. Go, Zuikaku, for the glory of the Fifth Carrier Division, pfft."
(Akagi: I feel like I can't take it anymore, what should I do?)
"Hmm, I have a feeling this operation isn't going too well. Will things get even worse?"
Let's turn our attention back to Rob.
On a whim, Robo equipped the company with speed flags, resulting in a visibly increased speed. This opened a new world for Robo, who then used a whole bunch of combat flags. So far, the anti-aircraft flag seems somewhat useful, but the others are basically useless, since Gundams don't ignite, don't get wet, and don't produce royal milk powder.
Gradually, Rob discovered that the enemy aircraft had lost interest in ground targets and were instead systematically circling the company.
Those directly involved felt the impact even more acutely. The soldiers on the mass-produced ships were brazenly standing on the deck, firing rifles at the air, completely ignoring the enemy aircraft and focusing entirely on them. Although they were finding it increasingly difficult to defend themselves, they could still hold out thanks to the unreasonable power of the PS armor. Besides, if all the enemy aircraft were coming at them, there wouldn't be many more casualties.
"Commander, I think the enemy's target has changed."
"Ignore all feelings, I'm here for you."
Although the company was under concentrated fire, Robo wasn't worried. The combination of Cube Technology and PS armor was simply too unreasonable. While the lack of power might be due to the distance of the carrier-based aircraft pilots, for now, if they couldn't break through the defenses, then they couldn't break through.
"Kid, report back on what's going on over there!"
"Grandpa, I think the other side doesn't want to bomb the port anymore. They're focusing on my company now! Where are the reinforcements they promised?"
"Listen, reinforcements are on their way! Hold on for another ten minutes! Also, the port's flight squadron has moved in the opposite direction, following the enemy's flight path, to find the opposing fleet!"
"You want me to go over there and give them a good shove?"
"What the hell! You get over there and bring those bastards from the flight squadron back here. I'm going to send them all to a military court."
"Old man, are you confused? I'm confident I can shoot them all down, but as for driving them back, I can only say you should find someone else."
"Even if I have to beg you, please bring them back."
Rob was silent for a moment, then said, "Let's wait for reinforcements to arrive. I'll try my best."
Chapter Eleven: Searching for the Enemy's Trail
At least this time, Mr. Jenkins was not lying. About ten minutes later, two waves of supporting fighter jets arrived, which basically signaled the end of the attack.
"Port area..." Looking at the devastated port area from afar, Enterprise felt a pang of sorrow. Then she saw another Enterprise still fighting the enemy, which seemed beyond her comprehension. For a ship to be more agile than an airplane in the air was, frankly, a bit absurd. "Is this another version of myself fighting? Is it some new technology from command or something?" Although many questions remained, she didn't have time to dwell on them. "Bumblebee, cooperate with us and wipe out these enemies." With that, she began controlling her fleet, joining the battle from several directions and breaking up the enemy formation.
