He mimicked Gandhi's earlier response to why the soul could not be studied here.

Not with words, but with actions.

"Watch closely."

After saying that, Jiang Shu assumed a horse stance and concentrated all his strength into his right fist.

From Gandhi's perspective, Jiang Shu's soul was completely tense, his back was hunched high, and he looked ready to unleash explosive power at any moment.

"Ho!"

With a sudden shout, Jiang Shu slammed his fist into the prison door, smashing it through like a piece of cardboard, creating a gap large enough for a person to pass through.

Gandhi was greatly surprised.

"This is the power of Shiva, the god of destruction!"

Before he could say anything more, Jiang Shu shouted, "Let's go! There's no time to talk about this now, the prison guards are coming soon."

This was something he did intentionally.

He knew that with such a commotion, the prison guards would soon gather.

So the first thing to do now is to escape.

Gandhi knows what's important and what's urgent, so during this escape, he certainly won't ask about the power of the soul. This will give me time to think things through and reflect, and decide how to re-examine and face Gandhi.

Gandhi seemed a little slow to react and became somewhat awkward.

"Actually, I've thought about it carefully. Your sentence is long, so escaping is understandable, but I don't necessarily need to escape. I should be able to get out soon..."

Before he could finish speaking, Jiang Shu angrily interrupted, "Do you think you can get away with it if I run away? An injured person escaped after only one day in prison. Do you think the Empire would believe I could have done it without your help? Besides, the people are waiting for us. Don't be foolish at a time like this. Let's go!"

"this..."

Gandhi sighed, "What you say makes sense. Well then, it seems I have no choice but to reluctantly make a mistake this once..."

Before he finished speaking, he had already appeared outside the prison and anxiously urged Jiang Shu, "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and go! The people are waiting for us!"

Jiang Shu blinked.

Damn it, do you really have to put on an act?

"You're absolutely amazing."

As they were talking, more than a dozen prison guards rushed over through the narrow passage and blocked the two men inside the prison.

The other prisoners, who were also on their deathbeds, were startled awake by the commotion and peeked out from the cracks in their cell doors to watch what was happening outside.

Their eyes were initially cold and unfocused, as if even if the prison were bombed and they were all killed, it wouldn't concern them.

But the moment they saw Gandhi, that indifference vanished.

Instead, a near-manic frenzy took hold.

"Gandhi, it's Gandhi!"

"He was imprisoned here too."

"My God! I never knew my faith had always been with me all along."

Facing the fervent believers, Gandhi waved to them kindly and gently: "Take care of yourselves, don't catch a cold."

"Gandhi! Good heavens! Gandhi!"

"Even when he's about to be beaten to death by the prison guards, he still doesn't forget to care about our health? He really..."

"Waaaaah..."

This terrifying appeal startled Jiang Shu.

He had only ever seen that kind of appeal in those other people—

Chinese entertainment fandom!

Think about it carefully, when idols have their scandals, their behavior of refusing to admit, take responsibility, or correct their mistakes is actually just nonviolent non-resistance, isn't it?

Damn it, history can be so similar.

In short, the prison break scene instantly turned into a fan meeting, with a peaceful and joyful atmosphere.

If I had to name someone present who wasn't happy...

Those are probably the prison guards.

In fact, they weren't exactly unhappy, but like the security guards at fan meetings, they were just doing their jobs because they were paid to do so. So it didn't matter whether they liked the celebrity or not, or what they thought of the fans' excessive behavior; they just had to do their job.

"Go back to your cells, prisoners! Before things get too out of control, get back to your cells right now!"

The one in the lead, probably the warden or something, roared.

Jiang Shu shrugged helplessly and amusedly: "You probably already know that's impossible, right? It took us a lot of effort to open this broken door, how could we possibly go back so easily?"

"Then don't blame us."

The warden waved his hand, and the guards behind him cocked their rifles. They were confident that if they pulled the trigger, these two unruly guys would be riddled with holes in the next second.

The prison guards all revealed their menacing nature.

Some of them even shouted that they should thoroughly examine the two men's dermatitis later to see where they had hidden the bomb.

"It seems that no matter how things change, the Imperials are still the same in this respect."

Jiang Shu sighed:

"While I understand you want to see our dermatitis, I still have to tell you the truth: we did not use any bombs."

"Go to hell! Do you really think we're that easy to fool?" the prison guard cursed. "I'm a PhD in physics from Oxford. Nothing but bombs can turn steel like the BBC destroyed those Cambridge bitches."

With such a vicious metaphor, it must be the real Oxford.

Jiang Shu didn't want to waste any more words.

Trying to explain something to the Empire is as difficult as explaining to a grown man that Ultraman and the Land of Light do not exist.

"I'm warning you again, go back to your cells, or we have the right to shoot and execute you on the spot."

Just as the warden finished speaking his last words...

Jiang Shu moved.

The gun in the hands of the two prison guards closest to him, including the Oxford PhD, vanished instantly.

By the time they realized what was happening, the two Enfield rifles had already turned into two iron balls in Jiang Shu's hands. Jiang Shu then casually tossed them into the earthen wall beside him, raising clouds of dust.

"Now, use your knowledge of physics to explain what's going on, Professor," Jiang Shu said provocatively.

"How is this possible?!"

All the prison guards were horrified.

This is clearly no ordinary escaped prisoner!

"Damn it, fire! Shoot!"

The warden was the first to pull the trigger of his Scott revolver. The other guards were jolted awake from their daze by the loud noise, and then followed suit, frantically pouring bullets from their guns at Jiang Shu.

Upon seeing this, Gandhi, who was behind Jiang Shu, shrank his neck, covered his head with his hands, and hid to the side.

Jiang Shu, however, remained calm and unhurried.

With his current combination of speed, physical strength, and power, the bullets thrown by these old-fashioned firearms are essentially no different to him than sandbags thrown by children.

With just a little attention, you can easily catch them.

To the astonishment of the prison guards, Jiang Shu effortlessly caught each bullet, barely moving his lower body. He merely moved his arms at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye, and all the bullets were firmly grasped in his hands, forming a huge iron disc.

After doing all this, Jiang Shufeng casually moved his lips and said, "I am... the Flower Hand King of Xi'an."

Unfortunately, these imperialists, Gandhis, and prisoners were all rather ignorant and didn't know what Xi'an was, so they naturally didn't realize, "Ah, the King of Guanzhong has arrived."

The warden, however, was quite perceptive and understood Jiang Shu's tactics.

However, he only shouted things like "He is a nobleman and knows how to use the power of the soul!" which were completely irrelevant.

At this moment, Jiang Shu deeply understood what it meant to have no confidant, no one who understands you; it was actually a very cruel and lonely thing.

Even though he realized that Jiang Shu was a user of soul power, the warden was not flustered at all. On the contrary, he calmed down because he saw through Jiang Shu's true nature.

"Prepare for the second round of firing!"

The warden roared orders while pulling a strange device from his pocket.

That thing looked like a mirror.

Or rather, it was actually a mirror—a wooden board with a piece of metal embedded in it.

However, the metal's reflectivity didn't seem to be very strong; even when facing him directly, Jiang Shu couldn't clearly see his reflection.

Instead, they could see that there seemed to be some kind of writing hidden inside the metal.

"Damn heretics, go to hell!"

Similar to the seal on the prison door, but with some differences in details, a seal emerged from it. The distorted characters were like nets, covering Jiang Shu one after another.

"what!!!"

Gandhi, who was not directly hit by the sealed light behind him, still screamed in agony.

Jiang Shu looked back and saw that his soul, merely touched by the light, was like a vampire encountering sunlight, burned with countless marks.

At the same time, the warden sneered, "Now! Shoot!"

The prison guards, having reloaded their bullets, then fired another round of shots.

In everyone's imagination, Jiang Shu should have been riddled with holes by this barrage of comments.

But what they didn't expect was...

shhhhh--

Jiang Shu once again caught all the bullets steadily.

*smack*

Another brand new discus fell to the ground.

A brief, deathly silence fell over the room.

All that remained at the scene was Gandhi's constant, agonizing screams.

"It's hot! It's so hot!! It's going to melt!!! It'll burn me!!!"

At this moment, the warden finally snapped out of his shock.

His forehead and back were covered in cold sweat, but he forced himself to calm down, even though his voice was clearly starting to tremble uncontrollably.

At this point, he had completely given up thinking about why this had happened, or whether there were corrupt nobles on the mainland who were selling inferior goods. He just wanted this nightmare to end as soon as possible.

So he didn't say a single unnecessary word, but went straight to the core topic:

"As you know, our empire is the most advanced country in the world. We respect everyone's human rights. Perhaps we can discuss this. Maybe we can meet your needs. As long as you obediently return to your cell, there is nothing that cannot be discussed."

I thought they would back down when faced with difficulties, but I didn't expect them to still be daydreaming at a time like this.

Jiang Shu suddenly felt a sense of emptiness.

It seems that without taking real action, there's no way to leave smoothly without harming these working people.

Since that's the case, fine...

Jiang Shu slowly closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his eyes glowed with a pink light that was just like his soul.

"Don't you understand? You have no right to negotiate with me."

Upon meeting Jiang Shu's gaze, the warden and the prison guards felt their bodies stiffen.

Jiang Shu slightly raised his head, glancing down at everyone blocking his way as if they were a pile of garbage.

"You lowly dogs, kneel down!"

In a sense, "love" seems to be simpler and more direct than "dedication." If the latter is a tonic that nourishes slowly and subtly, then the former is obviously a more potent and faster-acting drug.

His role and extremely low entry requirements even surprised Jiang Shu.

With the power of the soul fully unleashed, it's just a simple command.

With a thud.
