"So it's true?" Hoshino Yuzuki suddenly became interested.
"I went to her for tutoring." Shimada Sho handed the phone back to her. "There's a quiz next week, and my grades are terrible. My homeroom teacher told me to find someone to tutor me."
"Looking for her?"
She was second in her grade.
"I'm also in the top five of my grade." Hoshino Yuuki's voice carried a hint of displeasure. "Why didn't you come to find me?"
"Didn't you give me the notes?"
“Notes are notes, and tutoring is tutoring.” Hoshino Yuuki pulled the blanket up to cover half her face, her voice becoming muffled. “Fine, whatever.”
Looking at her like this, Shimada Sho couldn't help but smile slightly.
He reached for an orange on the bedside table, peeled it, broke off half, and handed it to him.
"Eat oranges."
Hoshino Yuuki stretched out a hand from under the covers, took the orange, and began to eat it in small bites.
The rain outside the window stopped sometime ago.
The faint sound of a tram passing by could be heard in the distance, growing closer and then fading away.
"Sho Shimada".
"Ok?"
"You must pass the quiz next week."
"understood."
“I’m not joking.” Hoshino Yuuki’s voice turned serious. “This inspection was spearheaded by the Kamishiro Zaibatsu. They really intend to transform the school into an elite school, and students who don’t meet the academic standards will be forced to withdraw. Your grades…”
"I know."
"It's good that you know." Hoshino Yuzuki stuffed the last segment of orange into her mouth and said indistinctly, "Although you are annoying, useless, and always causing me trouble, Mom will be sad if you get fired."
"Okay," Shimada Sho replied, half-laughing and half-crying, "I'll definitely pass."
"That would be best." Hoshino Yuuki turned over so her back was to him. "I'm going to sleep."
"Ah."
Shimada Sho responded softly and turned off the overhead light.
There was a lamp by the bedside. He washed up by its light, slept on a makeshift bed on the floor, and soon Shimada Sho also fell asleep.
The bedside lamp was turned off, plunging the room into darkness, with only a faint light coming in from the streetlights outside the window.
Shimada Sho lay outside the blankets, listening to the even breathing behind him, feeling somewhat strange.
I've heard that if you stay alone for too long, you'll develop mental problems.
Shimada Sho didn't believe it before, but after living here for a while, he did.
A person can really go crazy from being cooped up.
Now that my sister has moved in, there's suddenly someone to talk to in this quiet and cold house.
This feeling... is pretty good.
The only inconvenience might be that with Yuzuki around, it's inconvenient to log in to Tenkai Chizuru again.
If she suddenly woke up halfway through logging in and saw herself lying there stiffly with lifeless eyes, she might be scared out of her wits.
Never mind, let's talk about it tomorrow.
Anyway, there's nothing urgent for the idol right now, so there's no rush to find out about loan sharks.
Lost in thought, Shimada Sho drifted off to sleep without realizing it.
Little did anyone know, Hoshino Yuuki, who was lying on the bed, suddenly opened her eyes at a certain moment.
The moonlight shone brightly on her dark eyes.
……
……
The next day, Shimada Sho was woken up by his alarm clock.
He opened his eyes and his first reaction was to look at the bed.
The bed was empty, the blankets were neatly folded, and the pillows were back in their original places.
If it weren't for the clean lunchbox on the bedside table, he would have thought he was dreaming last night.
The sound of running water came from the bathroom.
Shimada Sho got up and went over, only to find that the door wasn't closed properly.
Through the crack in the door, you can see Hoshino Yuuki, who said yesterday that she would oversleep, is now standing in front of the sink.
Wearing his T-shirt, he was standing on tiptoe, putting on makeup in front of the mirror.
Chapter 105 Late Students Require Guidance and Education
The bathroom was occupied, so Shimada Sho couldn't wash up right away.
He leaned against the door, watching Hoshino Yuuki tidy up inside.
She was very skilled at applying makeup, completing the foundation, eyebrows, and eyeliner in one smooth motion.
"You can even do makeup?" Shimada Sho exclaimed in amazement.
Hoshino Yuuki's hand trembled, and the eyeliner almost poked her eyelid.
She turned her head abruptly, a flash of panic crossing her face before she regained her usual indifferent expression. "What are you looking at? Haven't you ever seen a girl put on makeup before?"
"I've never seen anyone wear my clothes and put on makeup."
Hoshino Yuuki's ears turned red instantly.
She shoved her eyeliner into her makeup bag, turned around, and pushed Shimada Sho towards the door. "Get out, get out, I need to change my clothes."
"This is my room."
"This is the locker room!"
The door slammed shut in front of Shimada Sho.
He stood in front of the porch, listening to the rustling sounds of people changing clothes inside, and remained silent for a moment.
Why does it suddenly feel like the person who came to stay isn't my sister, but a robber?
Was she this awful before?
……
When Hoshino Yuzuki came out after changing into her school uniform, Shimada Sho had already heated up the leftover rice balls from last night.
The two of them each ate one of the drinks quickly with their milk, then slung their backpacks over their shoulders and headed out.
The streets were clean from last night's rain in the early morning, the sky was a clear blue, and a few white clouds drifted lazily by.
Sunlight shone on the wet asphalt road, giving it a faint golden glow.
Shimada Sho and Hoshino Yuzuki walked side by side toward the bus stop, with about half a body length between them.
Hoshino Yuuki walked a little ahead, her ponytail swaying gently behind her head.
"Hurry up, we're going to be late."
Occasionally, he would glance back to see if Shimada Sho was keeping up, and then he would impatiently urge him on.
Shimada Sho looked helpless. "Is it possible that you were late because you took too long to put on makeup?"
You talk too much!
Shimada Sho quickened his pace to catch up with Hoshino Yuuki. When the two arrived at the bus stop, the bus they needed to take was just pulling in.
He was supposed to run to school today because of the sunny weather.
However, because Hoshino Yuzuki spent too much time getting ready and changing clothes, she can only catch the bus now.
The carriage was packed with commuters and students, and the two were squeezed into the middle of the carriage.
Shimada Sho held onto the handrail with one hand and braced himself against the edge of the car window with the other, creating a small space for Hoshino Yuuki.
Hoshino Yuuki stood in front of him, her back to him, the ends of her ponytail occasionally brushing against his chest.
She didn't look at Shimada Sho; her expression remained as indifferent as ever.
The bus swayed and bumped past several stops before finally stopping in front of Dongli High School.
Shimada Sho and Hoshino Yuzuki got off the bus and mingled with the flow of students entering the school, heading towards the school gate.
From afar, Shimada Sho spotted the figure standing under the rain pavilion.
Dark blue school uniform suit, plaid skirt, black stockings.
Her long hair was loose over her shoulders today, but her fierce temperament remained undiminished.
The glasses perched on his nose gleamed in the sunlight, and as he turned his head, he resembled a ferocious beast surveying its territory.
When Shimada Sho saw Ayase Yuki like this, he unconsciously slowed down.
But no matter how slow it is, you'll eventually reach the school gate.
She held a folder and a pen in her hand, her posture calm and composed, waiting for Shimada Sho.
Or rather, the people around him.
Yuki Ayase squinted, her eyes fixed on Yuuki Hoshino, who was standing next to Sho Shimada.
As they passed the pavilion, she spoke casually, "Excuse me, student."
"Is there something you need?" Hoshino Yuuki stopped and turned to look at her.
“You’re late.” Ayase Yuki’s voice was devoid of any emotion. “You’re three minutes late.”
Hoshino Yuuki glanced down at her watch; it was 8:33. She was indeed three minutes late.
Her expression froze for a moment, then returned to its usual indifference.
"so what?"
"Late students need to register their class and name." Ayase Yuki opened the folder, picked up a pen, and said calmly, "Your class and name."
"Class 2-A, Hoshino Yuuki."
Yuki Ayase looked down and wrote a few words on the folder.
After finishing writing, she looked up, her gaze passing over Hoshino Yuzuki and landing on Shimada Sho not far behind her.
But it only stayed for a moment before moving away as if nothing had happened.
"Hoshino Yuuki-san." She closed the folder and said calmly, "Being late is a serious disciplinary issue. As a student life guidance assistant, I have a responsibility to provide individual guidance to students who are late. Please come to the student council office after school this afternoon."
Hoshino Yuuki was taken aback. "Separate education?"
"Yes."
"Just because I was three minutes late?"
“That’s what the school rules say,” Yuki Ayase said, leaving no room for negotiation. “If you disagree with my decision, you can appeal to the student council. But until the appeal is resolved, you will still need to receive further education.”
Hoshino Yuuki frowned.
She opened her mouth as if to say something, but seeing Ayase Yuki's expressionless face, she swallowed her words back.
Shimada Sho stood behind and heard their conversation clearly.
He stepped forward and stood in front of Hoshino Yuuki.
"Ayase-san, the one who's late is my sister. Just tell me what's wrong."
Yuki Ayase's gaze finally fell on him.
The eyes behind those glasses held none of the resentment or probing of the past, only a calm, indifferent stillness.
“Shimada-kun, I’ve taken note of your sister’s tardiness record. According to school rules, she needs to receive individual instruction.” She paused. “If she’s unable to come herself, a guardian can come in her place. For example, her parents, or… her brother.”
When she said the word "elder brother," she slowed down her speech, as if she was deliberately reminding him.
Hoshino Yuzuki peeked out from behind Shimada Sho and pointed at him. "He's my brother, let him come."
