“You’re the one who’s young, your whole family is young.” The girl was even more unhappy.

"It's true that I'm an only child," the boy said helplessly.

The handsome, long-haired shop manager watched the two bickering and smiled like an aunt, "It's alright, I'll just put in a tiny bit of wine."

Seeing this, Cheng Fei had nothing to say and watched him mix the drinks.

Before long, the boy and girl each held a brightly colored drink and leaned against the railing at the back of the row to drink.

The manager indeed only added a tiny bit of alcohol; you could barely taste the alcohol at all. It tasted more like a rich, smooth soda.

Observing Shen Xi carefully sipping her drink through the straw, Cheng Fei couldn't help but ask, "Teacher Shen, is this your first time drinking alcohol?"

"Of course not." The girl replied expressionlessly.

"Then remember not to drink alcohol indiscriminately outside in the future."

"Why?" she frowned.

"It's not safe for pretty girls to drink outside, especially since you're not just pretty."

"So you're watching me drink now because you're planning something bad later?" the girl sneered.

"How could that be? Except for me. You can get completely drunk while I'm around, I'll protect you." Cheng Fei said seriously.

"I hope so." Shen Xi looked at the stands, not at him.

The performance started shortly afterward, but the four members of the Light Music Club did not appear.

Cheng Fei frankly admitted that the band on stage was far inferior to a real band, but since it was an anime song, the otaku in the audience would sing along on their own, especially the enthusiastic cheers from the front row, which made the atmosphere very lively.

Anime and manga are great!

Just as the boy was marveling to himself, a hand suddenly patted his shoulder.

For some reason, Shen Xi seemed to have no strength left, leaning on his shoulder, her slender body swaying precariously.

"Teacher Shen, are you alright?"

The music on stage was so loud that Cheng Fei's words were drowned out as soon as he opened his mouth.

Cheng Fei helped Shen Xi lift her head by supporting her shoulders, only to find that the girl's face was flushed red, her ears looked like they were about to bleed, and she was squinting with her eyebrows furrowed, as if she was uncomfortable somewhere.

Cheng Fei grabbed Shen Xi's wrist and pulled her away from the performance hall.

As soon as I stepped out the door, the noise stopped abruptly.

"Teacher Shen, what's wrong with you?" Cheng Fei shook her.

"How strange, I feel dizzy." The girl rubbed her temples weakly.

"Your face is so red, are you drunk?" Cheng Fei observed her.

"Impossible." The girl shook her head.

"With such a low alcohol tolerance, how dare you drink? Is this really your first time drinking alcohol?"

"No." He shook his head again.

Even when drunk, they still insist on being stubborn.

“I’ve had it before, once…” Shen Xi’s voice trailed off unnaturally.

The boy had nothing to say.

"Cheng Fei, take me home." The girl softly grabbed the boy's arm.

Cheng Fei could tell that she was still somewhat conscious and knew she needed to go home.

But she wasn't entirely sober, otherwise she wouldn't have leaned so heavily on him.

"Okay, I'll take you home."

Cheng Fei sighed, then put the unsteady girl in his arms and left.

In a daze, Shen Xi felt the boy stuff her into the car, and the comfortable backrest almost made her fall asleep.

After a while, she was helped off the bus again.

"Cheng Fei...are you home yet...?" she asked, her voice feeling strangely hoarse.

The boy did not answer.

A gust of cold wind blew by, causing her to open her eyes slightly. She looked up and was suddenly struck by the unfamiliar street and the hotel sign hanging on the exterior wall of the shopping mall.

"Cheng Fei...where are you taking me...?" she asked again, feeling as if she was having some difficulty breathing.

The boy didn't answer, but simply put his arm around her and walked forward.

In her dazed state, the girl realized something; she bit her lip, a sense of panic welling up inside her.

She let the boy lead her, only patting his arm gently.

"Cheng Fei... I'm not safe today..."

Before she could finish speaking, the girl's vision went completely black.

She vaguely felt herself being led into some place, someone was manipulating her face, and then the buttons on her collar and sleeves were undone.

In the very end, she felt a fleeting sting.

……

139. Cheng Fei took advantage of someone's vulnerability.

The girl didn't know how much time had passed, but at some point, she slowly opened her eyes.

Her head rested in a strong arm, and she slept soundly.

Shen Xi blinked blankly, looking around at her surroundings.

The bright room was quiet, with few people sitting on the rows of chairs. There was a nurses' station not far away, where a nurse was sitting with her head down, writing something.

"Teacher Shen, you're awake?" The familiar voice was right next to me.

Shen Xi looked up blankly and met the gaze of the smiling boy.

"Where is this?" she wondered.

"Obviously a hospital, is he still not awake?"

"Why am I in the hospital? Didn't you take me there..." The girl was stunned.

"Take you there?" Cheng Fei asked, puzzled.

"It's nothing." Shen Xi shook her head and took a deep breath.

She looked down and saw that one of her hands was receiving an IV drip, while Cheng Fei was holding her other hand.

The boy's body temperature was alarmingly high, and a continuous stream of heat was transmitted from his palms.

Belatedly realizing what was happening, she pulled away from the boy's arm as if she had been electrocuted, and tucked her hands into her sleeves.

"Why are you holding me?" Shen Xi asked warily, her face filled with disgust.

"Teacher Shen, what's with that expression? The backrest here is freezing cold, and your hands are as cold as ice. Do you think you'd sleep so comfortably if I didn't hold you?" Cheng Fei said seriously.

"So why am I in the hospital?" Shen Xi glanced at the IV drip in her hand and frowned.

"The doctor said you're allergic to alcohol. If I hadn't gotten you here in time, you would have almost died." The boy shook his head and sighed. "You absolutely must never drink alcohol again, not even liqueur-filled chocolates, understand?"

"How could that be? I've drunk it before..."

"Didn't the biology textbook say that food allergies only flare up a second time? You're still not quite clear-headed."

Shen Xi fell silent.

"Do you want to continue sleeping? There's only one bottle left in the IV drip." Cheng Fei patted his arm, gesturing for her to come closer.

The girl bit her lip and shook her head.

“Teacher Shen, you’ve been sleeping in my arms for two hours already, what’s another half hour?” the boy coaxed patiently.

“That was just now, it’s not necessary now.” The girl stubbornly turned her face away.

"Fine, don't take it then. You're definitely cuter when you're dizzy," Cheng Fei said, pretending to take out his phone and open the photo album.

A photo of a girl with a flushed face and closed eyes nestled in a boy's arms appeared on the screen.

"You actually took pictures of me while I was unconscious?" Shen Xi's eyes widened, her face filled with disbelief.

"Let's take a picture to remember this, Teacher Shen. You're not still angry with me, are you? You have no idea how much trouble it was for me to take you to the ER all by myself." Cheng Fei put his phone away.

The girl opened her mouth, then turned her face away. "Thank you."

"No need for thanks, after all, you're my girlfriend." Cheng Fei shook his head.

"Who's your girlfriend? Stop talking nonsense." The girl glared at him through gritted teeth.

“If I didn’t say it like this, the doctor would suspect me of abducting a respectable woman,” Cheng Fei said matter-of-factly.

"I don't want to waste my breath on you." The girl turned her face away, looking conflicted.

The atmosphere quieted down.

A few minutes later, Shen Xi reached out her hand, her voice lowered, "Do you have any more hand warmers?"

“I’m glad you rely on me, but the last piece is over there,” Cheng Fei pointed.

The girl looked down and noticed a hand warmer wrapped around the IV tubing.

"Why is it stuck on?" she wondered.

"Heat it up a bit, because if the medicine is too cold, it will be very uncomfortable to inject it into the vein."

"How do you know?" she asked, still somewhat skeptical.

"Teacher Shen, although you may be a bit smarter, you still lack life experience. Just trust me."

As Cheng Fei spoke, he stretched out one hand and said, "If it's cold, just put it here. That's how we've been getting by for the past two hours anyway."

"No need." Shen Xi frowned and put her hands in her coat pockets.

Seeing this, Cheng Fei shook his head, took out his phone to check, and said, "Speaking of which, Teacher Shen, do you have anything to say about me taking the top spot in the grade?"

"That's wishful thinking." The girl said coldly.

"I watched online classes for two hours longer than you, and you might even have some lingering effects and be mentally foggy tomorrow. Although winning like this is a bit unfair," Cheng Fei said, opening the paused video.

"I'm perfectly fine now." Shen Xi raised her chin.

"I'm relieved to see you so resolute." Cheng Fei breathed a sigh of relief and began to watch the video attentively.

The girl squinted at his profile, then looked away after a moment.

Half an hour later, Cheng Fei called a nurse and removed the needle from Shen Xi's arm.

"Please press for a while longer," the nurse gently instructed before leaving.

Shen Xi pressed hard on the IV patch and silently examined the back of her bloodless hand.

"Can you stand up?" Cheng Fei held her arm and helped her up.

"It's alright." The girl lowered her eyes.

"Let's go then, it's almost eleven o'clock after all this fuss." Cheng Fei yawned, his hands in his pockets.

As the two walked out of the hospital, Shen Xi looked around curiously and spotted the hotel sign she had seen earlier on the building opposite the hospital.

The streets were deserted and cold at night, and a gust of wind made her shiver.

"Wait a moment," Cheng Fei told her, then went into the 24-hour convenience store next door. He came back a moment later, put a straw in a bottle of hot milk, and held it to her lips. "Drink it. The doctor told me to buy it for you."

The girl looked at him suspiciously, took the milk, lowered her head and put the straw in her pale mouth. The warmth made her feel much better.

At that moment, the boy next to her suddenly wrapped his arm around her shoulder and hugged her tightly.

"What are you doing?" The girl raised her head defiantly.

This time, the boy wasn't joking; he showed no sign of letting up.

"Cheng Fei!" The girl gritted her teeth and raised her voice.
