"I understand, thank you for your hard work, Teacher Shen. It was my fault." The boy clasped his hands together and bowed his head reverently. Then he looked out the window and muttered, "I wish the sun on Earth would go out too."
As soon as he finished speaking, he was struck lightly by a pair of spotless, small black uniform shoes under the table.
In a corner of the restaurant, where children passing by would occasionally look on with curiosity, sat a cool, aloof young woman with long, dark hair, her face expressionless. Her appearance was striking, yet her attire was more restrained than any other young and beautiful girl. A wine-red bra added a touch of vibrancy to her coldness, while her slender, fair legs beneath the dress brought her back to an ethereal, artistic beauty. Even a ray of sunlight streaming in from the window seemed reluctant to break the scene, only daring to gently brush against her cheek through the gaps in her hair, making the silver hair clip pinned to her temples sparkle.
A gentle-looking young man sat in front of her, a smile on his face, his eyes reflecting her delicate and beautiful features.
The girl, slowly finishing her food, would occasionally raise her eyes to meet the boy's gaze, then subtly look away without saying a word, as if she had acquiesced to being watched by him.
The two spent their lunch in this quiet atmosphere.
After having filled their stomachs, the two strolled out of the planetarium, unsurprisingly still holding hands.
Shen Xi glanced ahead, her face still icy. "What tricks does Cheng Feiyu have up her sleeve next?"
"Teacher Shen, you've really gotten used to dating these days?" The young man tilted his head to look at her, not without a hint of teasing.
"Stop talking nonsense and answer the question." The girl glanced at him and then looked away.
"How would you rate the planetarium today? Was it fun?" the boy asked with a smile.
The girl paused for a second, not looking at him, then tossed her hair and revealed a serious expression. "It's not exactly fun, but considering it's our first time here, it's still a fun shared memory."
"You've brought up shared memories, so frankly?" the boy asked, somewhat surprised.
The girl gritted her teeth and glared at him, her voice cold and unforgiving, "How many times do I have to emphasize this before Cheng Feiyu understands? If you just curb your tendency to use sweet talk and tricks, I..."
"You?" The boy looked at the girl who had abruptly stopped, a hint of schadenfreude in his eyes.
The girl's eyes flickered as she turned her face away, her cold voice softening into a whisper, "Even a little cutie wouldn't hit and scold you all day long..."
"Actually, it's perfectly fine to scold or hit a little cutie." The boy sighed comfortably.
"Hopeless!" The girl squinted her eyes with disgust and swiftly struck him with her uniform shoe.
The boy didn't seem to care and squeezed her small hand tightly.
"So where are we going now?" The girl took a deep breath and regained her composure.
"I don't know," the boy said, looking ahead with an open and honest expression.
"What trick are you up to now?" the girl asked him suspiciously.
"I really don't know. There are times when I run out of inspiration when planning a date. I'll just pick something whatever comes to mind this afternoon. As long as we're together, it doesn't matter. What do you think, Ms. Shen?" The boy looked into her eyes.
The girl paused, then turned away and scoffed, "So even Cheng Feiyu runs out of inspiration when doing this kind of thing."
"Teacher Shen, what's with this feeling that I'm just born good at using all sorts of tricks to deceive girls?" the boy asked helplessly.
"Heh, isn't that right?" The girl raised her chin and glanced at him sideways, her expression full of mockery.
"Actually, I'm not that good. It's already a lot of work for me to fool you," the boy said softly.
The girl's gaze wandered, and she remained expressionless and silent.
"You got hit by a sting unexpectedly?" The boy leaned closer to her, not without a hint of smugness.
"As expected, even this is just sweet talk, go to hell!" The girl suddenly became a little annoyed, gritted her teeth and launched a vicious attack on him.
"Teacher Shen, am I telling the truth?!"
"Shut up! Cheng Feiyu, who's so fickle, still has the nerve to pretend like that!" She was even more annoyed and used her small handbag to strike him repeatedly.
The two, engrossed in their battle (?), unknowingly wandered into the park next to the planetarium and sat side by side on a bench under the shade of a tree.
Shen Xi looked up and peered through her fingers at a ray of sunlight filtering through the branches.
Cheng Fei looked at the dappled shadows of the trees falling on the girl's bangs and forehead, her exquisite face showing a thoughtful expression. "Teacher Shen, what are you thinking about?"
"We need to figure out how to observe the sun in the dual-body world. We must find a way to modify Roche's telescope and add a light-shielding layer that can filter ultraviolet rays, otherwise the Stand will not be able to look directly at that brightness for a long time." The girl narrowed her eyes and looked serious.
"Filtering ultraviolet rays is quite difficult with the technology of the Twin Bodies world, but I've already found a solution," the boy said nonchalantly.
"What method?" The girl immediately looked at him.
"Give me a kiss to get the answer, or give me a kiss." The boy smiled.
He glared at her and kicked her without hesitation, saying, "Daydreaming."
"How indifferent. Well then, have a proper date and we'll talk about it when we get back." The boy shook his head, unsurprised.
“These two things don’t conflict.” The girl stared at him, a hint of stubbornness on her face. She paused, then looked away and lowered her voice, “Hurry up and tell… your little darling, she wants to know.”
As she spoke, she grabbed his arm.
"Shen Xi, then answer one question frankly to me first." The boy pursed his lips.
"What?" The girl's expression remained unchanged.
"How did you come up with this kind of coquettish behavior? Was it something you meticulously planned to do to get rid of me by any means necessary?" The boy rubbed his chin, as if facing some kind of problem.
The girl paused for a second, then turned her face away expressionlessly, saying, "I refuse to explain."
"why?"
"No." The girl replied without hesitation.
"We've used this trick so many times, there's nothing wrong with explaining the motive, right? I have no objection to whatever the answer is." The boy looked at her sincerely.
“A refusal is a refusal.” The girl stared at the grass beside her, her expression unreadable.
"Teacher Shen, please, I'm really curious whether you're trying to charm me based on your emotions or a method you've figured out rationally?" The boy clasped his hands together.
"As expected, Cheng Feiyu is always so dim-witted." The girl narrowed her eyes, completely ignoring him, her voice becoming muffled, sounding both disdainful and complaining.
"What do you mean?" The boy looked at her still indifferent profile, as if he had a premonition.
"Shut up, let's leave this topic at that. It's fine if Cheng Feiyu doesn't want to talk about it." The girl said coldly, then looked up at the branches of the tree with their light and shadow. Although she didn't say it, you could guess what she meant from her stubborn little face. She probably meant, "I can find a solution myself."
The boy looked at that pretty yet cold face and quickly understood. He looked at her with a sense of relief and helplessness, "Shen Xi, you're just too cute?"
The girl seemed lost in her own thoughts, completely oblivious to his words. Her pure, dark eyes reflected a faint light, and her thick eyelashes fluttered gently.
……
After a while, Cheng Fei took off his outer shirt and put it in Shen Xi's arms.
"Teacher Shen, please hold this for me."
When the girl came to her senses, she found herself alone on the bench; the boy beside her had disappeared.
She paused for a moment, then looked up, her gaze quickly sweeping across the surroundings, past the sunlit lawn, the long tree-lined path, and the roadside trash cans, but she couldn't find the boy anywhere.
Just as the girl couldn't resist taking her phone out of her handbag, a burst of cheers mixed with applause rang out from somewhere.
Behind the green wire fence not far from the bench, the sharp sound of sneakers rubbing against the ground came from the basketball court; the public court was bustling with activity during the holiday and weekend.
The tall, sharp-eyed boy dribbled past his opponent quickly, then made a layup with agile steps. Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the basketball bounced off the side of the rim—a common mistake.
The rest of the players under the basket were ready to grab the rebound.
However, even faster than them was the boy who jumped up again after landing. As if dissatisfied with the bounced basketball, he caught the ball in mid-air and slammed it into the hoop with such force that the entire frame trembled violently.
This scene naturally stunned the others, then won applause and praise, which in turn attracted even more attention.
Shen Xi stared blankly at the situation on the court, then seemed to lose interest after a moment and lowered her eyes.
The girl looked at the navy blue shirt that had been stuffed into her arms. It was clearly a shirt that Lin Xuanqi had ordered for the boy. The cut was exquisite, the color was sophisticated, and it had an indescribable sense of fashion.
The girl looked up at the court again, confirming that the boy was still playing and hadn't used his ability to teleport in front of her.
She tentatively opened her shirt, brought the collar close to her eyes, and sniffed it with her smooth, delicate nostrils twitching. She smelled a familiar scent that inexplicably made her feel safe and comfortable.
The seated girl kept her eyes slightly closed, maintaining this posture, until a certain moment, she heard another cheer erupt from the stadium, this time accompanied by screams from other girls.
Shen Xi put down her shirt and looked up, seeing that the boy had already attracted a lot of attention with his amazing ball skills, including young women who were already on the sidelines. They were all staring intently at the boy on the court, their excited eyes unblinking.
The girl narrowed her eyes, took a deep breath, and a hint of displeasure appeared on her face. She picked up her small shoulder bag, draped her shirt over her wrist, stood up, and walked away quickly.
Just as Cheng Fei passed the ball to his temporary teammate and watched him make a clean layup on the suddenly bustling court, he heard the other players whispering among themselves.
"Hey, look over there..."
"So beautiful, like a fairy..."
The boy turned around and found that a cool girl with long black hair had appeared on the sideline at some point, holding his shirt in her arms and staring at him with a cold expression. Due to her position and stunning appearance, she attracted a lot of attention.
"Sorry, it seems I can't play anymore." The boy waved his hand and walked towards the girl.
"Teacher Shen, have you finished your research?" The boy wiped his sweat in front of her.
"I'm tired. How much longer do you want to fight?" The girl stared at him expressionlessly, her tone completely flat.
"Tired? Let's go then. We were just having some fun anyway." The boy nodded decisively.
The girl hugged the shirt and turned to leave.
Just as the boy was about to catch up, a girl watching nearby, her hands behind her back and a curious look on her face, asked, "Hey bro, you're not going to fight anymore?"
"I have something to do," the boy said with a smile and a wave of his hand.
The aloof young woman in front of him frowned slightly, then suddenly stopped and turned back. She kicked him with her spotless little uniform shoes, then grabbed his hand and said in a cold, unyielding voice, "Enough with the nonsense, hurry up."
"Okay." The boy nodded quickly, letting her pull him along.
This scene drew boos from the audience, a mixture of schadenfreude, contempt, envy, and jealousy.
Amidst a multitude of gazes, the two striking figures quickly disappeared from sight.
Walking along the long tree-lined path, Cheng Fei observed the aloof young woman beside him who dutifully draped his shirt over her arm, giving her an air of inexplicable coolness.
"Teacher Shen, would you like some tiramisu?" The boy said halfway through, then casually changed his mind.
"Go find a place to rest," the girl said coldly, ignoring him.
"Are you really tired?" the boy asked curiously.
"Otherwise what?" The girl turned around, seemingly displeased.
"It's nothing." The boy shook his head decisively. "Where would Teacher Shen like to rest?"
"I don't know, that's something you need to consider." The girl said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Understood, then I'll head out now." The boy nodded with a smile.
The girl glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, but didn't say anything more.
Cheng Fei first went to a nearby supermarket to buy wet wipes to wipe away the sweat and dust from his workout before taking Shen Xi away from the park and back to the street.
As the boy gulped down bottled water and scanned the surroundings for a suitable place to rest, Shen Xi pointed in a certain direction.
"Go to that," the girl said softly.
The boy looked in the direction of the sound and saw the sign on the building. He raised an eyebrow. "A private cinema?"
"Hmm." The girl nodded expressionlessly, making it impossible to read her thoughts.
"Let's go then, I'll book a private room." The young man thought for a moment, then nodded decisively, took her small hand, and took out his phone as he did so.
The next second, the girl took the phone away with an undeniable gesture.
"Teacher Shen?" The boy looked at her, puzzled.
The girl didn't offer any explanation, continuing to stare at the screen, her delicate white fingers sliding and clicking.
A moment later, she handed the phone back to the boy, still expressionless, and said, "It's done."
"Okay?" The young man looked at her suspiciously, then checked her order on his phone to make sure there were no problems.
The boy then realized that there was indeed a problem.
"Teacher Shen." The boy hesitated, looking at the screen.
"What?" The girl glanced at him.
"A romantic couple's room, in parentheses, a private space?" The boy read out the private room she had chosen.
"What's the problem?" The girl's expression remained unchanged.
"No problem, whatever makes you happy." The boy honestly shook his head and put away his phone.
"Don't misunderstand, it's just that you mentioned the sofas in these private rooms are like beds, so they should be better for resting." The girl's eyes flickered, and she added coldly.
"Understood. As expected of Teacher Shen, you've thought of everything." The boy nodded respectfully.
