“Let’s go back to base first. Thor and that kid will definitely be able to tell us what this is,” Tony said.
"it is good."
Afterwards, Tony and Steve cleaned up the wreckage of the Kree Sentinel robot, made a phone call to Banner, and returned to the Avengers base.
Because it was already very late, Peter, Sam, Gwen, Jessica, Daisy, Nancy, and the other Avengers who were under the age of eighteen were told to go home and rest, and that the meeting arrangements would be told to them tomorrow.
The remains of three Kree Sentinels were placed in the experimental area, awaiting analysis by the three-person research team.
Inside the conference room, while waiting for the others to arrive, Li Ai noticed that Steve's suit had changed to black and white, so she frowned and asked:
"Captain Rogers, you've changed your battle suit?"
"This shouldn't be considered a suit of armor, but rather an alien life form that calls itself Venom," Steve said truthfully, as his Venom suit came to life.
Upon hearing this, Li Ai's pupils contracted, and her heart skipped a beat.
Chapter 202 Symbiote Captain
Li Ai certainly knew the famous symbiote Venom.
These liquid life forms from the universe will choose a host for themselves. They can enhance the host's power, but they can also drive the host's mind to extremes.
According to Li Ai's impression of the movie from her previous life, Venom should first approach Peter, immersing Peter in the intoxicating feeling of becoming stronger, but Peter will realize that there is something wrong with the Venom suit and eventually take it off.
"Captain Rogers, do you feel like you're more emotional than before?" Li Ai asked, frowning. His impression of Venom was still that of a villain, so he couldn't help but become wary.
"No way," Steve scratched the back of his head, looking bewildered.
"Venom may be a bit gossipy, but I don't think it's that bad. Besides, it only came to Earth because it was accidentally trapped on the artificial meteorite that was transporting the Kree Sentinels."
Suddenly, Thor's voice came from the doorway. He noticed Steve's Venom suit and exclaimed in surprise:
"Isn't this the symbiote from Klinta? Steve, you weren't chosen as the original host by this black symbiote, were you?"
“The original host? Let me ask first.” Steve tapped his temple, paused for a moment, and then answered:
"Venom says I am its first host."
“Then that’s it.” Thor also smiled with relief and explained, “Symbiotes are a very special race in the universe because the personality of the original host determines the personality of the symbiote, which leads to a diverse reputation for this race.”
Upon hearing this, Li Ai breathed a sigh of relief and smiled with satisfaction, "Then our Captain Rogers is a moral exemplar."
“I’m not that noble,” Steve said modestly. “I have my own selfish motives too.”
As they were talking, Pym, Banner, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Wanda, and Pietro, the regulars at the Revenge Base, all came into the conference room.
Li Ai even saw a figure completely black.
The man was dressed in all black, with dark skin, a bald head, and one eye covered by a black eye patch, exuding an aura of mystery.
Even on their first meeting, Li Ai could recognize him as Nick Fury.
Tony introduced in a flippant tone, "Let me introduce you. This is a remote mechanical double controlled by former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury. I think he should be able to play a role in the upcoming interstellar war."
"Nick Fury?"
Upon seeing the black succulent, Li Ai was reminded of the Skrulls. Knowing it was just a stand-in, he clenched his right fist and suddenly lunged forward before anyone could react, knocking Nick Fury's LMD down with a single punch and then tearing off an arm with his bare hands.
Although this LMD is a remotely controlled stunt double, the pain it experiences is exactly the same as that of an ordinary person.
Nick Fury lay on the ground, wincing in pain.
“Li Ai…” Steve gently patted Li Ai’s shoulder, offering words of comfort but without blaming her.
Apart from Thor, Wanda, and Pietro, who were new to the area, everyone here knew that the Avengers were assembled to fight the Skrulls.
Nick Fury played a crucial role in enabling the Skrulls to establish themselves on Earth.
Adding to the Kree Sentinel incident tonight, many people also felt that S.H.I.E.L.D. was involved, even though Hawkeye and Black Widow did not intervene.
“Don’t worry about me.” Nick Fury propped himself up with his only remaining mechanical arm.
“This guy must have a grudge against the boss.” Pietro raised an eyebrow and said to Wanda in a low voice.
“Who knows?” Wanda looked at Li Ai, who had loosened his fist. “I only know that it’s usually hard for him to get angry.”
After the impromptu interlude ended, everyone took their seats, and Steve Rogers, the nominal commander of the Avengers, began the temporary meeting.
"Jarvis, share the information about tonight's three battles." Steve was the only one standing. At his command, three holographic interfaces appeared before everyone.
"Just recently, Earth was attacked by aliens. Three alien weapons invaded the Nevada desert, the Alaskan wilderness, and New York City. Although there were no major casualties in the first two areas, more than 20 people died in New York."
Faced with a sudden attack, we Avengers are not omnipotent gods. I hope everyone will not be discouraged; the key is to discuss together how to fight the alien invaders.
The meeting only began to move into discussion mode after Steve's voice had faded.
Pietro broke the silence first, raising his hand and voicing his doubts.
"So how do aliens know where Earth is? Planetary coordinates in science fiction movies are extremely valuable information."
“Then we’ll have to ask S.H.I.E.L.D., the agency that ‘protects the Earth.’” Li Ai glanced meaningfully at Nick Fury.
“The location my father used to hide the Tesseract is protected by magic, preventing any frequency from escaping, yet you’ve been researching it for decades.” Thor looked at Nick Fury with a disappointed expression.
Was Howard's research really that dangerous? Pym, the former Senior Research Director at S.H.I.E.L.D., gasped in shock.
"Would it still be of any use to us if we sent this thing away now?" Hawkeye asked. "Once the aliens know that the Tesseract isn't on Earth, they probably won't target us anymore, right?"
“But the energy frequency of the Cosmic Cube won’t disappear so quickly,” Dr. Banner pointed out. “It’s like the radiation from Chernobyl; it takes time to degrade, roughly fifty years.”
“And those are the Kree, a race that conquers for the sake of conquering,” Thor said solemnly.
"If they set their sights on a planet that can be considered a colony, they will take it by any means necessary."
“A colony…that doesn’t sound like a good word.” Black Widow leaned back in her chair, a chill creeping up her back.
“Thor, could you please describe the characteristics of the Kree, especially their colonization of other planets?” Steve gestured for Thor to continue.
"The Kree are a race with an exceptionally strong sense of self-respect. They are extremely particular about the purity of their racial genes. Compared to the Shi'ar Empire, which is willing to accept other races as part of its own, the Kree Empire believes that only Kree can become citizens. They generally employ a purge strategy against their colonies, and only a few individuals who escape their home planet are spared."
Thor's words seemed to cause the temperature in the room to drop several degrees.
“If the Kree have already set their sights on Earth, even without the Tesseract, they will turn it into one of their many colonized planets.” Li Ai tapped the table, his deep voice echoing in the room, his tone grave.
"The Avengers must become stronger."
Chapter 203 Ronan: The advantage is mine!
“I can get Asgard to send troops,” Thor said, “but I need the Tesseract to repair the Bifrost in Asgard.”
“That’s really reassuring,” Li Ai and Thor exchanged a smile.
“I’ll try my best, after all, Asgard also needs to be wary of the Annihilation Clan,” Thor added.
“But I think even with Asgard’s support, Earth will still be at a disadvantage in terms of total military strength.” Tony waved his hand, and the holographic interface that was playing the Kree Sentinel combat logs changed into a 3D map of Earth.
"First, the ground; second, the atmosphere; and finally, space. How much combat power do you think we can mobilize?"
“We can inform the various countries that, with the cooperation of their militaries and superhumans, we shouldn’t be at a disadvantage on the ground,” Steve suggested.
"And in the air?" Dr. Pym asked.
“Dr. Pym, you’ve been away from S.H.I.E.L.D. for too long. You probably don’t know that we’ve assembled a flight formation capable of high-speed maneuvering within the atmosphere.” Sparks still flickered at the severed end of Nick Fury’s mechanical double’s arm.
"That's still not enough, is it?" Dr. Pym frowned. "The Air Force didn't even have more than two hundred F-22s at its peak. How many more fighter jets can your S.H.I.E.L.D. have?"
"Ahem." Li Ai cleared her throat and said something that Lyon had told her during a family dinner.
"Actually, after the Skrull invasion, the White House began to assemble a special flight squadron, whose equipment should be able to meet the standards for countering extraterrestrial invasion."
"Flight formation? Whose technology are they using?" Tony raised an eyebrow. As a former leader in the defense industry, he felt it was necessary to vet the source of the technology for this flight formation.
“Osborn.” Tony breathed a sigh of relief at Li Ai’s answer.
“It’s great that we didn’t use Hammer,” Tony said, looking relaxed. “That guy always tries to cut costs when designing mass-produced weapons, and the pistols he makes are nicknamed ‘King of Misfires’.”
Besides his poor skills, another reason Tony dislikes Justin Hammer is that Justin Hammer is gay, which makes Tony feel physically uncomfortable.
“The other two major powers also have contingency plans in case of extraterrestrial invasion, so you can rest assured about that,” Nick Fury added.
“But I know of another country on Earth that has the ability to resist extraterrestrial invasion.” Li Ai stroked his chin and named a country.
"Wakanda, an East African country that is ostensibly an agricultural nation, actually possesses the world's largest known vibranium reserves, as well as outstanding basic science."
“Wakanda? That agricultural country that’s even more backward than Sokovia?” Pietro scratched his head, saying incredulously, “I was arguing with people from there online just last week.”
This is the impression Wakanda gives to the world. Li Ai still thinks it's worth bringing Wakanda in, since the Kree are targeting the entire Earth.
"Clint, Natasha, I need you two to go on a field mission," Steve said, looking at Hawkeye and Black Widow.
"Go to East Africa to find Wakanda."
“No problem, Captain Rogers.” Hawkeye nodded in response, then smiled helplessly:
"But we need some new equipment, because the existing equipment may not be enough for this crisis."
“Intelligent minds are used to analyze the Kree Sentinels’ technology.” Li Ai glanced at Tony, Banner, and Pym, who were about to get busy again, and then said to Hawkeye and Black Widow:
"I'll take care of your equipment."
“I have no objection,” Black Widow nodded.
“What about the space defense line?” Tony asked again. “What if the enemy keeps launching weapons from space and we’re constantly on the move? There are only three of us here who can pose a threat to the Kree fleet.”
Upon hearing this, Li Ai looked at Nick Fury, staring directly into his single eye, and said bluntly:
"Just use that pager to call Carol Danvers back."
"How did you know?" Nick Fury, who could remain silent even when his arm was severed, frowned.
“You’re talking too much, Nick Fury.” Li Ai remained calm. The core members of the Avengers knew he had 'precognition-like' abilities, so they naturally wouldn’t ask any more questions, but he really didn’t have a friendly attitude towards Nick Fury.
Dr. Pym and Tony, who had some past grievances with S.H.I.E.L.D., were secretly delighted. They both looked away at the same time, one wiping his glasses and the other pretending to study the ventilation ducts on the ceiling.
“I have a friend in Olympus who can help,” Thor said with a laugh, breaking the silence. “You Midgardians should be very familiar with his name.”
“Hercules?” Wanda subconsciously uttered the name of the Olympian friend Thor had mentioned.
Hercules, Hercules, the great hero who completed the twelve trials... Hercules' deeds are widely known on Earth, even Wanda, who was born in Sokovia, knows a little about them.
“Olympus?” Steve pressed, his body involuntarily straightening slightly. “Can they come and help?”
“I can’t say for sure,” Thor said, scratching his blond hair sheepishly. “Actually, it’s just that Hercules and I are good friends, while Asgard and Olympus… I can only say that there are often conflicts.”
Upon hearing this, Li Ai imagined a scene of Odin and Zeus confronting each other in her mind; these two god-kings certainly couldn't get along.
"Captain Marvel, Hercules, no matter what, our space defenses can be expanded considerably." Steve smiled with satisfaction.
.......................................
Meanwhile, outside the solar system, Ronan the Accuser, a former Kree accuser, is leading his fleet toward Earth.
Inside the flagship Dark Aster, Ronan received news that three Kree Sentinels had lost signal.
The intelligence officer knelt before Ronan, his forehead almost touching the cold metal floor, his voice trembling with humility:
"Sir, all of our Sentinel robots have lost signal. They may have been destroyed by the native life of the C-53."
"All three sentries were wiped out..." Ronan gripped his general-purpose weapon tightly with his right hand, his blue skin taut, his face grim, his tone icy:
"Continue to send out Sentinel robots, especially targeting the C-53 native life habitats, to reduce their numbers as much as possible, and let them know the cost of being our enemy."
“Yes, sir,” the intelligence officer replied.
Although Ronan has broken away from the Kree Empire, he still possesses a complete interstellar fleet.
The only thing the Supreme Intelligence could do was to prevent Ronan's fleet from using wormhole jumps, which is why Ronan didn't arrive on Earth quickly, but instead sent Kree Sentinels to scout ahead.
In Ronan's eyes, as long as Carol Danvers was still on his way, wouldn't it be easy for him to go to Earth and retrieve the Tesseract?
The entire Kree fleet did not believe they would lose against a complete interstellar fleet and a 'backward civilization' that had not yet left their planet. They even believed that C-53 would become their first colony.
Even if the C-53's local life can destroy three Sentinels, what about thirty or three hundred?
Ronan did not believe that C-53's life could withstand his starfleet.
Chapter 204 A Series of Attacks
It was late at night when the Avengers' internal meeting ended.
Steve went to his office to plan the battle, while Thor took the Tesseract back to Asgard to repair the Rainbow Bridge, and then went to Olympus to find Hercules.
